A Home Within a Home Closed

Hailey entered the library, craning her neck to look all the way up the shelves and spinning in a circle. The gentle smell of old books and the sounds of whispers, turning pages, and a crackling fire greeted her.

Hailey had decided to use her free time before classes started to explore Hogwarts. One of the top things on her list was the library; she predicted she would be spending much time in it, reading both for classes and for pleasure.

And coming here confirmed that prediction- with a library this wonderful, of course she would be spending lots of time in it. Meandering through the shelves, Hailey was overcome with a love for libraries. She felt this way every time she went to one (though the muggle one in her village wasn't nearly this wonderful). It was something about the way you could slip into an empty tunnel of shelves and feel completely alone. Something about the way you were surrounded with knowledge and fantasy, so many words, a whole sea of them. Every book an door to it's own world. Something about the cozy atmosphere, which made Hailey's whole soul feel at home.

Running a hand along a shelf, Hailey felt the dust gather beneath her fingers, and tightened her hand into a fist as though she could absorb the very essence of the library in this manner. Seeing a glint of the words "restricted section" up ahead, she decided she very much wanted to become an established enough scholar to gain access to books from there. She wanted to become advanced in all her classes, wanted to learn all she possibly could. She already had had a thirst for learning in muggle schools, but it was even stronger here, where the course material would surely be so interesting- after all, it was magic! Hailey did another little spin in the hallway of shelves as a way of displaying her optimism. She could stay in here for hours.
