Roleplaying as iNPC Andrew Lycan

The racer in the lead was getting farther and farther ahead. Drew turned to one of his teammates (Stephen), who he knew could fly pretty fast. “Ready?” He asked. Andrew used his broom to swing them around, and launch them forward. “Yes!” He said, watching them speed away. And then… get knocked off their broom. Drew winced. It would have been an excellent move to get someone catching up to the first place racer, but it had been ruined by a simple attack from the other side.

That was all she had been expecting for! For those very hidden surprises start to move and show their menace to the racers. Non of them had disappointing her, with their stings and bites! "Woah that's bad luck for the Ilvermorny racer, guess the Mosps chose their preference! Don't worry, you'll not die of it!" Ying continued.

Ying's heart stop in expectation, while watching how Irina would escape the Devils' Snare. She gave a breath of relief when she saw the Koldovstoretz get free of it and headed towards the finish line. "And we have a winner! Ladies and gentleman, a surprising much amazing race has found its end! Irina crossed the finish line, Koldovstoretz wins!!" She said barely containing her happiness and joy, a smile spread across her face. Not that she had a preference for any of those teams, but is always a beautiful thing to see when someone wins their challenges.

Jasper knew it could not be good news for their team when Andrew turned to them and motioned for them to Alley Oop him, but they had practiced the maneuver so often they even dreamed about it. Getting into position and grabbing the back of Andrew's broom, Jasper always imagined this was the in air broom equivalent of a decathlon discus throw. He took in a deep breath and made as wide a sweep as he could with Andrew's broom for the wind up before exhaling during the swing around for the release.

In a beautifully executed launch, Andrew took off and Jasper eventually lost sight of him. They thought that had to be good until they heard the crowd roaring at the Finish line and heard the Announcement that Koldovstoretz had won.

Well. That was most disappointing.

Looking back over his shoulder to the only other person even close to him, Jasper shouted to the large Russian he had blatched. The guy had retrieved his broom and was just about to get back on it. Jasper slowly flew towards him.

"Looks like that blatch came one round too late. Congratulations. It was just announced that Koldovstoretz has crossed the Finish line in what has got to be one of the shortest broom races in the history of broom races. Well done."

With a quick nod of his head to the Russian, he leaned into his broom and headed in the opposite direction of the Finish line and back to the to Ilvermorny locker room. An early nap was sounding quite appealing about now.

Stephen hit the ground and he was not going to lie to himself. It hurt. But what hurt more was his pride. Knocked off his broom. Pfffft! He hadn't been knocked off his broom in too long. Maybe that had made him complacent. It was a good reminder it was possible but he was 18 million kinds of torqued that the reminder had to come during this particular match.

He had purposefully fixed his gaze on his broom as he fell so he could get to it as quickly as possible. He didn't think anything was broken, but as he reached the area where he knew it had fallen, he heard a fast moving object above his head. He looked up and smiled as he saw Andrew rocketing overhead.

He yelled as loudly as he could in support of his teammate while grabbing his broom from the top of some soft brush. It looked no worse for the fall, and he smiled. He had just been ready to propel himself back into the game when he heard something that he just could not believe. He thought he heard that Koldovstoretz had just crossed the FINISH line.

Say what? So soon?

He pushed off and as he got to his typical flying elevation, he knew the truth of what he thought he had heard. Ilvermorny had indeed lost to Koldovstoretz yet again.

Dammit.

He guided the broom further up in the air out of reach of the course obstacles and headed for the FINISH line to congratulate any of the opponents who may still be there and commiserate with any team mates who may also be there. He was proud of the two youngest on their team who had flown quite well and had gotten farther than he had, that was for certain. He smiled when he had heard that Mira had come in 2nd place.

Way to go, Mira! he thought.

Knowing this was not the outcome they had hoped for made smiling a little harder, but they had tried their best and that was all they could do. The other team had been better and that just happens sometimes. It gave them opportunities to learn and to be better themselves. When he flew across the Finish line he waved to the Ilvermorny racers and landed and offered his Congratulations to the other team. They really had flown well.

As he headed to the locker room, all he could think about was a warm, soothing shower and whether EmmaLee would be too awfully disappointed in him.

XXXIt was with narrowed eyes and a furrowed brow that Fedya finally made the decision he'd been trying to avoid. When it came to racing, he ordinarily attempted to win with good old fashioned brooms, nothing more. Call him a bit of a traditionalist for it, he didn't care.

"Flipendo!" He called, wand whipped in the direction of one of his opponents--Athena, he thought he'd heard her called when they'd been announced. Though she held strong to the broom, Fedya couldn't help but grin at the thought that it had to have at least caused her to falter.

And sure, he might've gotten stuck soon after, but something told him the game would be worth his while.

That something, it turned out, would be true. Irina's sailing across the finish line, solidifying their win and therefore legitimizing them as a threat, was as good a result as Fedya could hope for.
