Finding The Library Closed

Tes reluctantly made her way to the library to study. The year had only just begun, and the girl's strong dislike of anything involving sitting still and trying to read books was in full swing. Her month in America with her grandmother hadn't changed that, but it had certainly made it easier, if only because reading had been just about the only thing she'd been allowed to do. Not only that, but her grandmother's expectations had been clear, "Fine young ladies do not barely pass their classes. You must excel, and to do that, you must study. No more of your antics going to the library to make friends instead of read books."

Tes huffed to herself, pouting slightly as she wandered the shelves in search of the book she needed for her assignment. Her grades had been just fine last year! An Acceptable was quite a good grade in her book. She ran her fingers along the spines, grumbling about how Herbology shouldn't be requiring essays this early in the year. She'd been hoping to stick her hands in some dirt and enjoy some time learning things she enjoyed! Instead here she was, looking for a darn book.

She paused at the point where the book should've been, groaning and thunking her head against the wood in defeat. Someone had taken it. Probably someone from one of her classes, actually doing their assignment ahead of time. Dragging her feet on her way out of the library in defeat, Tes glanced down at a girl she didn't recognize reading alone at a desk. Hang on- That was the book Tesla needed right there! She couldn't be in Tes's herbology class though, she would've recognized her. Maybe just an unfortunate coincidence? Without thinking, Tes stepped closer, dropping into the seat across from the other student.

"Excuse me, sorry for intruding. I really need that book for my essay. I'm Tesla Stone, second year Hufflepuff. My friend Charles might join us to study too, he really likes herbology. Reads these books for fun and everything!" Tes joked as she pointed at the book and introduced herself, smiling hopefully.

Tes felt guilty when the girl quickly handed over the book, blushing and apologizing. "Oh, no need to apologize! It's not technically a textbook, more of an encyclopedia. We just needed to research a couple plants not included in our normal textbooks, and this was one of the recommended books! Once I've gotten a better idea of what I'm writing about, I can always give it back to you," Tes paused, glancing down at the book and grimacing briefly, "Although, I'm not exactly the quickest reader. It may be faster to just get a new book to read. You can stay here if you'd like, though. I don't want to take your book and chase you off." Tes was embarrassed to admit her poor reading ability. Despite her current outfit being more well put together, and actually spending time in the library to read, she was still herself to her core. Unfortunately, her core was more focused on running around outside and meeting new friends than reading books, so she was slower than many of her peers.

Tes flipped open the book, beginning to scan the pages quickly for a plant she at least vaguely recognized to make the essay easier. "Say, what's your name? Also, are you a Ravenclaw? Your headband and necklace sure are those house colors." Tes asked, trying to make conversation and not chase the younger student off after taking her book.
