Amaris was walking the grounds one Saturday afternoon. It was almost six o clock, and Amaris didn't really know what to do with her time. She had washed her hair, unpacked her bag, taken a tour to familiarise herself around her second home.

Nothing much left to do really...

Amaris was sitting quietly under a large tree, one of the only shady spots throughout the large field of green grass. She didn't feel like swimming, but she did feel like writing.

One of the few things that Amaris likes is singing and songwriting -she is also a very good drawing artist but won't ever admit to this (her grandfather was an artist and Amaris was very close to him, but he has passed away and anything that remotely relates to his pastimes is a sensitive topic around her)- . She doesn't like to make it public of this fact, because of the spotlight. Amaris hates being the centre of attention and would much rather be in the comforts of her own bedroom, loud music blasting, banoffee pie..

She would have to share a space and not play such loud music anymore. She had noticed in the first night there that Hogwarts had banoffee pie for dessert, so there was one plus side at least.

However, this was nice. She had just found today that the peacefulness of the Great Lake was now one of her favourite things to undertake. She dived into her notebook to squiggle down any lyric ideas that came to her mind.

Here I am, a brand new world..
Will I ever get used to this? (Used to this.. Used to this..)

Amaris sighed to herself. She looked around at all of the other students. They had friends. What was it about Amaris that was so unlikeable? Her little sister made friends easily! Sure, Amaris may have a temper, and a high level of sarcasm to every person she spoke to, and barely spoke to anyone, but surely there had to be at least one person that could put up with that?

Cassi was planning on just exploring the area around the Great Lake but then they seen someone in the shade, obviously a girl with dark brown hair but Cassi also see that she has a book in her hand. Cassi being a naturally friendly person walks over and says, "Hello! I'm Cassi Alarie, whatcha writing in there?"

Cassi is a huge people person but they aren't able to tell if someone else is a people person or not but they do know when to stop asking certain questions....sometimes.

They decided not to say Cassiopeia because the person would finally find out soon. They did something bad and their mom was most likely going to send a howler.

Cassi is interested in this person, because one they have no idea where Sylvia is and two she seems lonely. They are trying to smooth down their wild red and blonde hair, keyword trying because their hair is all over the place right now and has leaves in it.

Their Slytherin jumper is covered in rips and leaves, because they fell out of a tree, it's not important why they were in a tree. They hope they don't look insane, covered in leaves and smiling at the brown-haired girl.

Amaris was thinking hard about one of the lyrics she was writing, when a bubbly voice spoke in her ear.
"Hello! I'm Cassi Alarie, watcha writing in there? " It was sudden! Amaris thought to herself this is my only chance of a friend, even though they seem too energetic. Oh well, here goes..
" Oh um, I don't feel comfortable sharing that just yet with you. " Amaris then cringed at what she just said. It was one of the fancy sentences in the book her mother bought her: Troubled Teens: A guide to good behaviour, it was a ridiculous excuse for a book and Amaris was definitely not a troubled teen!
Anyways, Amaris decided to correct herself. I-I'm sorry.. That was weird. Not really a people person! I'm Amaris. And the book.. It's private. What happened to your jumper?" Now looking closely at the person, they really did look quite beautiful.. not like the movies beautiful or make-up beautiful, but the natural beautiful type. But what would someone just like wonderful Cassi want to do with someone as quiet and troubled as Amaris? There we are again.. Amaris just needs to chill out a bit.

"I don't feel comfortable sharing that with you yet" said the girl who finally looked up, she's very pretty like very pretty. "Fair enough, I won't pressure you into telling me." Cassi might not know boundaries sometimes but they know when to stop. "I-I'm sorry.. That was weird. Not really a people person! I'm Amaris. And the book.. It's private. What happened to your jumper?"

"Pleasure to meet you Amaris. Oh and I fell out of a tree." The way Cassi said that sounded a little too close to casual for a person that fell out of a tree. Yeah, Cassi is a very strange person.

Cassi's default tone is nonchalant and happy of course, they usually grow on proper like a fungus. Falling out of a tree is one of the least hurting things that happen to Cassi. They get hurt way too often, Have you even jumped off a bed and broke your clavicle? No? Well Cassi has.

That doesn't seen like it would happen to Amaris, she seems like the type of person to watch where she's going. Cassi is wondering if she's mixed with anything, possibly Hispanic or Russian or maybe she's not mixed even though she seems like it.

"Pleasure to meet you Amaris. Oh and I fell out of a tree. " Said wonderful Cassi. Amaris took a liking to Cassi - even though they had known each other for a few minutes, it felt like they were already lifelong friends. She liked it that Cassi respected her privacy and didn't poke her nose into the little notebook. Not many people would do that - no one has any boundaries anymore :suspicious:. It felt rude to just leave Cassi out in the sun and not invite her down to sit underneath the tree trunk with Amaris, so she offered a hand and said to Cassi: "Um, hope you're okay after falling out the tree. Would you like to sit with me? It's hot when your not in the shade. Where are you from?" Amaris gave Cassi a warm smile. It had been a long time since Amaris had smiled.
Take that mum, I don't need some stupid guide to help me talk to people!
Just that thought alone made Amaris smile even more.
"Has anyone ever told you that your eyes look really pretty?" The sentence just came out! Amaris quickly covered a hand over her mouth so nothing else embarrassing, stupid or foolish came out of her no-filtered lips.

"Um, hope you're okay after falling out the tree. Would you like to sit with me? It's hot when your not in the shade. Where are you from?" Cassi was not expecting that but it was nonetheless welcome. Cassi immediately sits down and starts talking to Amaris.

"I was born in America but I was raised in England, my mom is french and my dad was english." Cassi is sad but they're trying not to show it by keeping up their happy act and fighting the urge to cry. Then she says something about Cassi's eyes, "No, you're the only person who has ever pointed out my eyes before, I appreciate it." Cassi beams excitedly momentarily forgetting how sad they just were.

"I like your hair, I used to wish mine was like yours but I've gotten attached to it. Speaking of which I still have leaves in my hair. Tell me some things about you, that you're comfortable telling me of course Amaris." Cassi has rambled enough, now it's time to learn something about Amaris. She's so mysterious, so she must have many many interesting this about herself.

3 things Cassiopeia likes are: Mysteries, Challenges, and Cake. Definitely Cake. Cassiopeia tilts their head slightly to show that they are attentiveness and that they are listening.

"I was born in America but I was raised in England, my mom is French and my dad was English." Cassi said. There was something about them that seemed sad. Amaris -even though she wasn't a hug type of person- slipped a hand around Cassi's back, as comfort. She wouldn't ask Cassi too much about herself if she didn't feel comfortable about it. "No, you're the only person who has ever pointed out my eyes before. I appreciate it." Well, at least what Amaris thought was downright cringey, didn't seem to have the worst outcome! Cassi took it as a complement.
See mum, I can make friends. I don't need some stupid therapy book.
Cassi then said something about Amaris's hair, and that made her smile. Mum was always calling her scruffy for never caring very much about her hair, but at Hogwarts Amaris was like a brand new person! She had washed and brushed her hair, all in the same day. Wow, take that mum. Amaris pondered what to say once Cassi had asked something about herself. There wasn't much that Amaris doesn't keep to herself - so there wasn't much to tell Cassi either. "I'm not that exciting to be honest. I was born in England, my dad's Mixed British and Caribbean, my mum's Hispanic, so I don't really know what that makes me. One third British, one third Caribbean and one third Hispanic?" Amaris decided to say. "I also speak fluent Spanish, we speak English at home but whenever I'm with my mum alone or with cousins we speak Spanish." She had no idea why this random fact popped out of her mouth, or why Cassi needed to know. Oh well..

"I wish I knew spanish but at least I got French aka the language of love. I'm of russian descent on my father's side but fully french on my mother's."

She's so lucky, I'm so jealous of her. "Can you teach me Spanish, pretty please with a billion cupcakes on top. I promise to be on my best behavior...mostly. Pleaseeeeee?"

Coming from me that's the best promise of good behavior she will ever get from me, but I'd put a lot of effort into being good if it means hanging out with her. She's cool and she reminds me of Sylvia, they would get along good together.

I wonder if she knows creole. If she doesn't we can both learn it, it would be a learning experience for the both of us. I feel like we've known each other for years and in a past life, like me and Sylvia we are totally opposites.

A total 'I'm a Sparrow and she's a Dove' moment, I'm more of a blue jay though and she's a robin. I bet she never falls out of trees or purposely jump off of beds just to see what will happen. That's the thing Amaris is different, not bad different but good different.

"That's cool. It's nice that this school is so diverse. Yeah, I guess I could teach you Spanish sometime - you don't seem too bad, do you know any Spanish words at the moment? Then if you get really good I can invite you out to Spain with me during the Summer to meet my family. See if you get along with them. Don't really know how I'm related to them if I'm being honest, they're all so cheerful and loud and me.. ? I'm literally the quietest person I know. All that I care about is banoffee pie and music. And my dog too. My mum thinks I'm a 'troubled teen'. She actually bought me a book of how to talk to people. That's why I said I 'didn't feel comfortable' when you asked about the notepad." Amaris had never spoken so much in her life. She was smiling too, most unusual for her. Cassi seemed to be having an effect on her. The last time Amaris smiled was when her mum made a huge banoffee crumble for her birthday. That was at least two months ago.
This was good, Amaris getting friends. Not many people took a care to even get to know Amaris well - but this girl seemed quite fond of Amaris during the few minutes they had known each other.

Amaris isn't troubled, she's just a little quiet and introverted. Her family sounds very fun, although I hope they aren't trying to hard to get Amaris out of her comfort zone, that's one way push her further into her comfort zone. I'm going to try extra hard because I want to meet Amaris's family.

First, I used to be 'troubled', I'll tell you about that later. But believe me you're anything but troubled. Secondly, I know 'Thank you' and a curse word. Thirdly, what's banoffee pie, it sounds tasty." I've never heard of banoffee pie, I wonder if it comes in cake or ice cream.

She likes music, maybe I can get her a record from Aunt Jen's record store, all I have to do is find out what music she likes. I'll get her a record and a homemade banoffee pie, maybe then I can tell her about my past.
