Bridgette wasn't late to Charms! In fact! They were really, really early. They waited patiently outside the door until the bells chimed the end of class and they were allowed inside. They marveled, once again, at the intricate design of the room. Everything at Hogwarts had that musty I've-been-here-longer-than-your-entire-bloodline smell to it, and they just couldn't get away from it. Like their bed, for hecks sake, was probably just as old as them! They doubted it had been switched out for a new one in years, not to mention the trunk that lay at the end of the aforementioned bed.
Beds were the least of their issues though, considering they were not plagued with the issue of where to sit in the many rows of tables. They picked on near the front, and as the rest of the class slowly began to trickle in, their anxiety couldn't help but poke it's shrew little snout out of it's hiding place. Their heartbeat intensified while their eyes widened, hand coming to rest on their heart in an attempt at calming themself. They take a deep breath, and another, one, as a hufflepuff girl sits next to them. They give a blank stare to the girl if they speak to them, but nothing more than that as they try and recover from the makings of an anxiety attack.
Bridgette wrung their fingers together, thumbs rubbing the inside of their wrists while their hair grew ever itchy on their neck. Thankfully they had had the preconception to bring a hair tie with them, and with a few twists of their shaky anxious fingers their hair was in a messy bun at the back of their skull, the hair tie hanging on for dear life at the volume of their hair.
The teacher, Professor Zoë Fresnel, walked up to the front of the classroom and began her lesson. They tried their best to pay attention, copying the witches wand movements as well as the pronunciation to the spell. They weren't quite sure they had it right as they began to write down what they had been told to do, scratching out things they had misspelled and grimacing as the Slytherin boy on the opposite side of them corrected something they had written. They smiled at the boy, thanked him for the help, and then rewrote what had been corrected.
Why didn't Quills have erasers on the backs, like in normal schools? Well, to be fair, Hogwarts wasn't exactly a normal school, was it? It was anything but normal and they couldn't help but feel put out by this lack of normality, even as their own lack of the thing seemed to spike itself into the air every time they opened their mouth. They had no anchor point for a scale of normality, as normal is and was just a concept to be given to society in order to make others feel put out. Sometimes you needed not normal things to happen, and sometimes you did not. It just depended on the circumstances.
All of this was running rampant in their mind when Professor Fresnal released them to try the spell themself. They point their wand at the item that they had been given, and murmured, "Wingardium Leviosa." The object lifted up, but instead of staying in one spot it shot out like a rocket at the other side of the room. They stared, dumbfounded, at what had just occured.

I See No One and Nobody Knows My Name
Kristin raced up the stairs. She was nearly late for Charms. Being a Hufflepuff seemed to only have on disadvantage for her, being on the first floor. Actually, it couldn't be as bad as being in the dungeons, like the Slytherin's, but she wasn't one so she was more focused on her own dilemmas.
She was late because of an altercation in the Hufflepuff Common Room. A group of older students had gotten into a scuffle over some lost house points and wands were drawn. Some even knew wandless magic. Nevertheless, many students who had been within the common space had stayed out until the prefects came to put an end to it, Kristin being one of them. It was a great chance to learn some spells. One of the students she had ended up standing next to said that one of the troublesome students knew the torturing spell, crucio. While Kristin loved spells in general, she found it uncomfortable to learn harmful ones, unless they were simply for pranks. Which is why she often felt uneasy in Defense Against the Dark Arts, since sometimes they talked about the more sinister magic in the world.
Kristin hurried up the steps the third floor, bypassing students and staff as she went by. She was taking two steps at a time, a big grin on her face as she enjoyed the rushed feeling. She also carried her small backpack, which held some snacks she would definitely be eating throughout the day. Her grandmother regularly sent baked goods and candies through owls, and sometimes her older stepbrother would give his sent ones to her, since he didn't care much for them himself. She definitely couldn't deny.
She basically launched herself through the door into Charms, laughing as she saw the slightly disturbed faces of the onlookers. The young Hufflepuff waved at the professor and the students she knew and walked to find a table. She usually sat next to those she knew in her classes out of convenience but this time Kristin had decided to sit next to a Gryffindor she knew by face but had never really spoken to before. She greeted her and sat down, and soon the class began.
Today they were learning about the levitating spell, which was actually not so hard, at least for Kristin. She had liked reading about spells and watching her family practice them, observing astutely, so she was more than familiar with how to get it to work. Or she thought she did.
Students began to try out the spell after being instructed, some failing, some succeeding. Kristin tried once and got it right, then another and got it right again. She smiled proudly, the noticed that the girl next to her way having trouble. She took that moment to actually look at her, admiring her curly, reddish-orange hair and green eyes. Kristin gazed at her in thought for a moment as a Slytherin boy explained something to her, then she went back to focusing on her own spell work.
Suddenly the item that her neighbor was working on shot across the room with a crash. Kristin looked at it, and then at the girl, bursting into laughter. "You could've tooken someone's head off with that, then."
Kristin raised her own wand, and with a proper, yet slightly goofy, wave of her wand, she recited, "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Her item began to slowly lift up, gradually getting faster and faster until it was rocketing off the ceiling, tables, a student's head, and finally crashing through the window. Kristin cringed a little when it hit the students head, apologizing, but she still had her smirk on her face. She looked at the girl, grinning. "Well, apparently we're both trying to off someone's head. My name's Kristin, by the way. You...?"

I know your character is non-binary but IC my character doesn't know this and perceives them as a girl until she's informed.
