July 25TH
Summer camp was coming to an end and with every passing day the general stress Opeila was feeling grew stronger. The young Slytherin had made plans for this summer, risky plans and risky preparations, there was no turning back from them now.
She had chosen to play a risky game, now she got to win the risky prize.
So on one day, a tuesday, Opeila had gotten up early, grabbed the carving knife and candles she had carefully wrapped into a handkerchief and stored at one side of her trunk, so she wouldn't accidentally cut herself while rummaging through her things. Carving candles was a hobby she had picked up a while ago, after her very first summer camp in 2020, where Professor Galim had taken a group of students to Madam Tussauds.
The wax figures, while somewhat terrific had left an impression with the first year she had been back then. She still remembered the day when she went to visit the Muggle Studies Professor to ask her for spells to carve wax figures the way they had seen at the museum. It had been silly of her to think that it would be that easy to create a masterpiece, but she had been 12 and sometimes children were stupid, right?
Since then she had lowered her expectations and tried her hands on carving the good old muggle way. And she wasn't bad at it! Usually she carved animals out of candles, she had gifted a few to Professor Galim and the encouraging words of the professor had done the rest to get the young girl to practice and practice some more.
Today it was a means to clear her head. Opeila left her cabin quietly and walked across the still quiet grounds to find a rock to sit on. Turning a candle in her hands a few times she picked a shape. Or not really. Instead of carving an actual shape, she ended up pulling the blade across the wax only lightly, cutting different patterns into the candle. Waves, edges, circles, anything she could think of.

Different, odd, peculiar, random, somewhat productive to what he set out to accomplish, but, somehow also a failure to a certain degree. These were the thoughts that traveled through the teen's mind as he strolled along on a walk through the campgrounds with no direct direction in mind. Oddly enough it was more of the social dynamics of his time at the school that he reflected on more than anything this summer, making new friends and squashing old beefs.Interaction:@Opeila Winters

Rotation, wand, a tic, addiction, the flash of the ivory-white aspen wood wand through the digits of his hand. This was something he had failed upon this summer and he felt like he wouldn't ever be able to stop the motion that let his mind come to a state of ease. It was a calming mechanism, to rotate the wand through his fingers as a drummer would with their sticks. It was something that he'd done for his entire tenure as a young wizard, a tic, that wouldn't toc'.
Golden hues shifted across the display before him as he walked slowly through the grounds towards a less common area to where he saw a sitting figure atop a rock. The approach being from an off angle he didn't quite recognize the figure sitting there fiddling with something in their hands and so he was quiet as he bridged the gap between the two until he could see if he knew the individual sitting there.
At first, he was the blade that caught his eye, the shine against the sun, the glint that made his eyes spark and features form into a smile, 'My kinda person,' he said to himself. With his more silent approach, it wasn't long until the profile of the girl was made a little bit more clear and he seemed to barely recognize the individual, carving a.. candle? It was a very odd sight to see and he just couldn't help himself as he stopped the rotation of his wand and slowly pointed it towards the ground.
"Circumrota," he said softly, maybe not alerting the girl with her focus on the object she was carving. Zykeal would turn his wrist and the target of his spell, the rock that Pei was sitting on, would rotate so that it would face him. "Oy, watcha' playin' with knives for?" he said bluntly, his head canted to the side and an eyebrow raised as he looked at the girl he hadn't spoken to in quite some time. Well, it sure was an interesting summer, and avoiding people wasn't really his thing this year.

July 25thThe ascertained beauty of a well done deduction was not something Tristan had lost the appreciation of, despite the mellowing of his cold nature over the years. It was still in his being to be a sociopathic acting person after all the times he had purposefully closed off all emotion. As such, on July 25th, he found himself in the company of another snake his age, the prefect Opeila. Although, at this moment he was hidden perfectly behind her, somewhere where she could not witness his presence, but he was aware of every movement that she made. Perhaps this would classify him as a stalker but he was planning to reveal himself, and no harm would come from it. He was of course not planning to murder in cold blood after all, only observing her behaviour to ascertain what angle he must take to endear himself to her. He witnessed her retrieving a carving knife and beginning to carve shapes into the candle that she beheld. Shapes, of varying sizes and variety, almost as if there was no plan, almost a reflection of meandering thoughts, projected into the physical world. As he observed her behaviour, a young man of the same age as him, entered into the foray, supposedly also observing the young woman with a glint of a knife in her hand. Tristan did not recognize the young man but it seemed he recognised the prefect, as when he cast the spell to turn the rock towards himself, as he raised his eyebrows and his head canted to the sound. Tristan was certainly not fully familiar of Opeila but perhaps the time was now to get to know her and others his own age. He thus exits clearly out of the hiding spot he had stayed in during this time, and approached the two young wizards carefully. He approached carefully, as if approaching a dangerous snake ready to strike. He introduced himself tentatively and perhaps shyly, “Hello, if it would be alright to introduce myself, my name is Tristan Theramin and I am a fifth year Slytherin. I do not believe I have had the pleasure of both of your acquaintances. Although I have heard of your name before, Winters, of course. I see that you are carving candles, are you familiar with the Muggle tradition of wax statues?” Tristan slightly smiled, a barely visible tilt of the lips, certainly similar to the smile of Mr.Spock. Most would not notice it was a smile, so if the people did, he would be impressed. “As for you my dear sir, may I have the pleasure of having your name?” Tristan suddenly feels his heart beating fast, as if a nervous attitude had become intertwined within himself.Layers

It wasn't really unusual or unexpected to Opeila anymore when she was joined by other students when she was alone- it seemed to happen more often than not these days. But especially in the early morning or late evening hours, when the castle and grounds (or the campgrounds in this case) were still empty and quiet, it did make a world's difference how she was approached.
The young Slytherin had been through a ton of events during her time at Hogwarts and most of these events had taken place at nighttime. At a time when no adults were supervising, like now. Opeila did feel safer than she did back then though, she had a few more years of school behind her and a few more spells on her belt. Duelling had taught her to be less hesitant to use them as well, so she was far from defenseless, but she did not have a bat's hearing.
Especially when she was as focused as she was right now. Bent over the candle, her hair, that had almost reached shoulder length again, tucked behind her ears, she allowed her mind to wander. The movement of the rock she was sitting on sent her up with a jolt. The candle and knife clattered to the ground as she dropped them in an instant and drew her wand instead, pointing it at the unknown target within a mere second.
Except... he wasn't unknown at all. "... Zyk?", she called out, surprised. Another moment passed before she lowered her wand. "You could have just said something instead of... you know, scaring the life out of me." There was no edge in her tone, only a spark of relief. Not that she was one to back down from a fight, she just... preferred not to have to fight right now. "How have you been, I haven't seen you in a while." For almost two years they hadn't spoken really. Since the odd ending of the ball they had been to together. She sat down on the rock again, facing him now and picked up the knife and candle. "Ah, I'm just... trying to get back into carving candles. I've started that about 3- 4? Years a-" Opeila paused, narrowing her eyes at the silhouette behind Zyk that she had not noticed before. "-go..."
Carefully she would watch the other boy come out from his... hiding spot?... and approach the two of them. Coming to a halt next to them, he proceeded to introduce himself and then add that he already knew Opeila's name. The young girl managed the hint of a smile before sending a look to Zyk. This... was weird behavior right?
"Uh- yes, yes, I know about wax figures. It was actually when Professor Galim took us to the Madam Tussauds museum in London at Summer Camp 2020 when I started this." Again she would glance at the place where he had apparently been hiding. "I'm sorry- have you been standing there this whole time?"

It really wasn't what he was expecting to be honest, the teen expected to be needing a counter-curse or something at this point but as she directed her wand towards him it made him reactively place one hand over his face and the other over his nether regions. The act of protecting oneself with their hands from being 'hit' by something didn't really make sense in this wizarding world he found himself in... but, it was still a muggle reaction that he was yet to kick at times.Interaction:@Opeila Winters | @Tristan Theramin

There was zero chance he was going to respond even if she had cast something at him, hell, even a shielding charm wasn't in his thoughts as he didn't seem the harm of what he did. Clearly, he startled her though, as she dropped her carving knife and wax that she was toying with at the time being. The hand covering his face would part fingers so that a 'V' shape was made and his golden hue peek between his digits even more evident.
"Well!" he exclaimed, slowly pulling his hand from the front of his face to the side of his head so he could scratch it for a moment in quiet contemplation, "What kinda entrance would that be..." he questioned. Zykeal would take a few steps closer and nod with a, "hah, yeah," as he gazed down at what she was sculpting before as she sat back down and picked it up. It'd take a minute before he caught the girl's gaze again and it seemed to be looking beyond him.
Slight confusion was masked upon his face before a noise made him tilt his head to his side where another figure seemed to just materialize, "Oy! Mate!" he exclaimed, taking a step to the side as the hilt of the ivory-white wand he held was gripped tighter for a moment, "Came at us like a damn ghost didn' ya?" he questioned, eyebrow raised as he peered at the new figure, back to the girl, then back to the guy.
The guy gave Zyk the heebie-jeebies, was that a thing still? Regardless, the kid spoke and Zyk sort of got a little bit of offput for a moment. When the kid finished his introduction, he offered a simple reply to the boy and said, "Zykeal, Gryff', don't hold it against me unless you're a pretty girl," he peered over to Opeila for a moment, "then you can hold me close," he finished, a smirk playing across his face as he looked back and forth at the two, clearly impressed with himself.
