Closed A Casual Throw of Spells PV

His face grew redder as he began to realize the consequences of his own actions, for signing up for the Koldovstoretz Duelling Team. The time for him to duel was only growing near, and it was making his more nervous for every second that would fly.

He looked up to the sky, only to feel a tingle in his heart, telling him that he should go out and do something. Something to better his life in the long run. If he could kick the butts of the Warts, then he would be happy. Right? Winning equals straight up pure happiness?

Or was he just wrong?

He wandered around the campground, counting the grass stalks as he could, knowing it was inaccurate if he had to count again. Imagine being a Wart student and getting detention- and said detention was having to count every single stalk of grass on the ground.

And then he saw a girl. In his American accent, he spoke. "Hello. I see that you have a cool wand, would you like to practice and duel? I'm sure I can kick your butt." It wasn't an attempt to insult her, but a playful attempt of trying to encourage her to partake.

Kit didn't even have to get up before someone arrived before her with an interesting proposition. Lucky, she thought to herself, offering a smile up to the boy. Dueling had never been an interest of Kit's- that involved using the wand, and she had made clear her lack of enthusiasm around that- but boredom, the playful offer, and nothing better to do made the offer far more appealing. Her half shrug turned to a laugh at the last part. "Honestly, you probably could. Quidditch's my strong suit, not so much dueling- but why not?" She also had an American accent, although there was a small French accent blended in from her time at Beauxbatons.

"The wand's nothing much special, though. You can take a look at it if you want." She offered as the girl pushed herself up to standing, brushing herself off and checking a bit for any grass stains- not that she would do anything if there were, but simply to make note. "Yours seems pretty tailored, though." Not that was a difficult checkmark to get, any connection/appreciation between wizard and wand was impressive in Kit's mind, but this one seemed... greater than some others? Vlad's Wandmaker She wouldn't spend too much more time thinking about it though as she had no knowledge in that area, turning her attention back to the boy. "Okay! You're going to have to explain how this works though... is it just casting spells at each other or is there some more rules to follow?" The student took some paces back as being right next to each other and casting spells seemed very likely to hit the caster as well, but otherwise her green-blue eyes simply watched the other expectantly.

Vladislav muttered to himself; how could he get trapped in this illusion of him being so perfectly brilliant that he could jokingly beat another duellist? This was only his first time actually getting the chance to duel since he spent all of his time at Koldovstoretz either studying or just learning the tricks and tips that Quiddtch players there would have for the younger players since they haven't had the experience that they have had in the past.

His wand was basically useless in the terms of casting spells on its own, but then again, that was all wands provided to all the students and members of the Wizarding World. If it were unique in any other way, shape, or form- and potentially could cast its own spells, it might even be more powerful than the Elder Wand, according to the stories told to him about historical figures- of the three brothers- of Grindelwald and Dumbledore- of Voldemort and Harry Potter.

It was all associated with death it seemed, so if it was more powerful than death, then his wand would be the most desirable. But it wasn't. Any wands more powerful than death would've been more desirable than the cheap seven galleon wands you'd get at Ollivanders.

He looked back at the girl, "Well, uh, it's not super special." He said, the Southern (American/Texan-Southern United States) accent kicking in.as he spoke. "It's an elder wood wand with a thestral tail hair as it's core. I know I specifically asked for a sturdy eleven-inch wand, so while I haven't gotten much use for this wand due to recent backlogs of schoolwork or me not having the chance to practice or duel officially, I wanted it to be made in honor of those we lost on the way. Nothing more than that. People die daily, and this is how I feel I can honor them, but I don't know how to explain my train of thought."

He prepared his wand and cast one of the first spells to ignite this duel.

Yes, he was turning a little morbid. Maybe it was because he stayed in the Thestral Cabin in the Campgrounds. Who knew why?

"And about this, I'm so sorry. I wish I could apologize but yeah." He said, dropping the ball on that line.

Action: Casting the Full Body-Bind Curse • Petrificus Totalus

Not super special- Kit didn't quite know what to take of that, simply shrugging before pausing to listen as he gave a more in depth explanation. The elder wood and thestral tail hair got an impressed and curious look, both sounding like rather rare materials to get a wand out of. Yet it was the sturdiness and length that had been the main asks? "I didn't know you could ask for certain wand aspects. That's really thoughtful though, honoring those gone." Her smile turned soft, falling silent for a moment in her own reflection as she watched the ground before glancing back towards the boy. "Well, now's your chance to test it out, see how it does-" The normal grin returned, bouncing lightly in place until she saw that arc of light zipping through the air towards her.

It wouldn't take much for Kit to jump out of the way, a little distracted as she watched the spell continue its course out and away until it dissipated. "Sorry for what- missing? I'm sure you'll get it next time, don't worry." Her grin only grew, bringing up her own wand to aim yet not quite casting a spell. "Totally petrifying- seems like a cool spell." The girl wouldn't have minded figuring out what it did without having to read a textbook, but being the target might be a little much. With a shrug, Kit worked on casting a simple spell of her own, one she chose more because it would be funny rather than any ideas on strategy.

"Ooh, you're fast too." Her spell got a lot closer, but it too would miss to crash into a nearby tree and vanish in a flash of purple light. She almost wished the tree would start dancing, but it didn't fulfill her request.

Vladislav laughed as he flourished his wand and said the incantation as he cast the Full Body Bind curse, only to miss. Somehow his opponent was quicker than the lash of the spell and he wished he was only as quick as she was.

Oh, desires were dangerous things, they make you want more than you can even have offered to you, in this case it was the wish to be fast and speedy. It sucked being a average human being. Rumors were, the boy who attacked him in the Maze was a Part Goblin. That was cool, and it would've been great to avoid being set on fire or being attacked due to his miniscule height.

But that was the only person he desired to demolish. He didn't want to hurt his opponent, so anything he could cast would not necessarily have a lick of menace in it. She didn't do anything to hurt him or stab him in the back when he least expected it for attempting to kiss someone who was handsome.

Maybe that desire didn't need to 'happen' exactly, he already seemed to possess the ability to dodge inside him, perhaps it was because of his brain telling him to move, kind of like instinct. Even if it made no sense. At least, not to him.

"Ha, yeah, you're right." He said, not feeling the mood to speak quite as much as of that moment due to him trying to mentally and quickly figure out the next attack.

Kit did have a competitive streak, but she didn't really want to hurt the other- he was nice and the Beauxbatons girl hardly trusted her spells anyway. Her Chaser training had helped with the accuracy and dodging, but casting was a whole different beast. Still, it seemed Vlad was focused on his next move so she would too, wildly deciding on a spell and sending it forth as he did-

Effects: The target is paralysed and falls down, unable to move and cast, but also cannot be attacked (IC Rules). Every round a Strength Check is performed to attempt to break out with the DC at 11 (10 + 1 for every 5 points).

Duration: [d6: 6] → 3 rounds
Effects: The target suffers -4 Accuracy for 3 rounds or until nullified.

Technically both hit which was improvement from their last attempt? But this certainly didn't seem right as the fourth year got a face full of flowers, pollen bursting forth causing a sneezing fit and watery eyes that slightly impaired her vision. Allergies were no fun, wondering if he cast the same thing as her and hit her instead or if the spell simply backfired. But no, the boy tried out the same spell again and faced a similar fate as Kit except getting paralyzed and falling seemed far worse than inducing allergies upon oneself. Her hand reached up to rub at her eyes in hopes of getting a better look, only aggravating it further as tears threatened to fall.

She felt relatively fine though otherwise, peering at him with a slight tilt of her head. Guess Kit found out what the spell did without being the target, mentally noting that she was right about not wanting to be paralyzed. Forced motionlessness sounded miserable and falling down offered a good chance to get hurt even without someone else doing something. Kit paused, offering a slight side eye to the flowers, before calling out, "You okay? Is there a way to get you out of that? Or- can you even talk?" A bit of regret sunk in from having not paid much attention to her classes, suspecting the answer laid in one of those boring lectures.
