Quidditch Through the Ages
Our charms professor had just dismissed us for lunch, so I decided to make my way to my favourite place in the whole school (which is huge by the way), the library. I’ve already read a bunch of the books there, but there were still many more! Pacing through the isles, I looked for a good book to read, hopefully one about history at Hogwarts, or something close to that. I saw some books similar to what I wanted, but I had already read or bought them all, so I kept looking. Somehow, nothing caught my eye this time, which is very unusual. I love reading, so I was kind of surprised that I couldn’t find anything I thought was interesting. The isles were filled with books about fantasy, adventure, biographies, and many more things, but nothing that I wanted this time. After pacing about for around nine minutes, I saw a book, one that I wanted to read. On the front cover read Quidditch Through the Ages. I could read about quidditch, I thought. I was interested in joining and wanted to learn more about it. Just as I went to reach the book another hand did as well. I looked over to my tight to see another girl, around my age, beside me. She had dark hair, dark skin, and nice brown eyes. She was wearing a robe with a patch on it that said Griffindor. “you like quidditch too” I asked. “I’m Delainie”

Quidditch Through the Ages
Salina was heading down the corridor towards the library. In her arms she held two books, one for Charms, which she just left, and the other for Herbology, which was one of her favorite classes. She preferred her dorm, the study room, or the library for her studying, and today she choice the library. Even though it was normally quiet in there, she hoped that not that many people were inside so she could have more space to be alone.
One of the plants they learned about were mandrakes, which were these things that looked like babies, and screamed in a really high-pitch, high enough to cause some to go unconscious, which happened to someone recently. Learning about plants was exceedingly interesting to her, to the point that she wanted to know about all of them, especially the powerful and dangerous ones. The more Salina studied at the school, the more her interest in potion brewery grew.
Salina stepped into the library, surveying what she could see so far. Not too many students were about so she headed further into the library admist the shelves. She liked readying the titles, even the boring ones that definitely looked like they didn't have any pictures. She knew that they probably wouldn't provide anything that would be dangerous.
Actually, at least not in the main area. In the back there was a section for forbidden books that only select individuals could access. Salina hoped that one day she could, especially as a student. She entertained devious thoughts for a moment.
She was walking when she saw an interesting title on the shelves, something about Quidditch. Salina made to grab it, at the same time as someone else.
Salina turned her head and saw a blind girl with sky blue eyes. She blinked at her, eyes squinted slightly, trying to decide whether she takes the book or go about her way. The girl decided to inquiry about her interest in the sport before she decided.
She let her hand fall back to her side and took a step back. She remembered seeing the girl in Charms just a few minutes ago. She was a Ravenclaw, and a fairly sassy one at that, if she remembered correctly.
"Salina, and sure, I like the sound of it." Her eyes flitted away as she noticed students walking by the aisle behind Delainie. "I would like to play for Gryffindor one day. Not sure which position though. You?"

The other girl blinked a few times, squinted a little, looked at me, and let her hand drop away from the book. I hoped that I didn’t scare or startle her. I looked at the girl again, she was pretty, the girl who had grabbed book. Said that her name was Salina, she wanted to play for the Griffindor team one day. “I’m a Ravenclaw, and I’d like to lay for our team one day too, hopefully a chaser or a seeker.” I said. “You can have the book if you want, I can find another.” I was still pretty sure that the girl was a first year, like me, and I didn’t want to make any enemies that I would have to stay with for years, especially so early, I was trying to be as nice as possible, i usually am though. I remember her face from somewhere, I think she might have been in the same charms class just a few minutes ago. “I just saw you in Charms class, right? I asked “ I think I remember you being there.” I hoped that I was right, or else that could have been a bit embarrassing. I smiled at her, hoping she would like me.

Quidditch Through the Ages
Salina gratefully took the book. She could've gotten another, too, anyway but this was convenient, and the girl was pretty nice. She was definitely going to read it when she got back to her dorm room, but hopefully not stay up too late reading. She had Transfiguration early and it wasn't a class to play with.
"Thanks, er, Delainie," she said, almost forgetting her name already. The girl said she was a Ravenclaw, and was hoping to play as Chaser or Seeker. "I would like to be a Beater or Chaser. I like hitting, and chasing...but I'm used to running, rather than...flying, a broom." Salina wondered what kind of training the Quidditch players did at the school. She really wanted to do the training that practice hitting things, she had some frustration to get out.
Delainie claimed that she has saw her in one of their classes, Charms. Salina squinted at her for a moment before the recognition kicked in. "Ohhhh, you. Well, hey. Again." She scratched her side and glanced around. "Did you come here to study? Also...how you like school life so far? Have you gone through anything weird yet, ha?"
Salina had gone through her own little ordeals, like almost getting lost forever in the school with a second-year. The castle was beautiful on the inside and the outside, but how mysterious and daunting it could be was definitely not appealing at times. She shuddered the thought; she really had a bad fear of aloneness, especially in such liminal spaces.
"Also, what are your favorite subjects so far? Mine is probably Potions, or Charms...or Herbology, honestly. All of them are so interesting. I think me being—" Salina cut herself off, about to mention being a muggleborn. She didn't like that she did, because she didn't want to feel ashamed of it, but sometimes some things were better off left unsaid in this school. "Uh, me being new, yeah..."

Quidditch Through the Ages
The girl took the book, she looked happy that I let her. I had kind of hoped that she didn’t, but it was alright, although I was probably going to end up looking for another half hour. “You going to read it tonight?” I asked the girl.
Salina thanked me, but it seemed like she was already forgetting my name. I smiled, and even chuckled a little, it was good to know I wasn’t the only one who would forget people’s names really quickly. “Oh cool!” I said “I’d probably like to be a seeker!”
So I was right, I did see her in charms class earlier. “Yeah, hey again.” I said to her. “No, I just wanted to find a nice book to read for tonight, but I do come here often to study too!” I liked studying, it really helped me. “Yeah, I really like it here, you? Nothing weird yet.” I said to her, but this was a school for magic, so the strangeness was just a matter of time. “What about you, anything weird, I bet it’ll happen soon for me though.”
“I’m not sure, maybe flying or charms. Oh, or Defence Against The Dark Arts!” I exclaimed, I loved learning anything at Hogwarts, it was all so fascinating!
“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but what’s your blood status? I said to Salina ”Like, I’m a half-blood I mean. My moms a wizard, my dads a muggle, and my sister Gracie is a squib.”

Quidditch Through the Ages
Salina didn't forget her name, I said she almost did. She had said her name quickly, lol
Delainie asked her if she would read it tonight, to which she nodded. Probably, unless I find something else to do, she thought to herself. She also had homework to catch up on and if she remembered correctly, some Gryffindors girls were thinking about holding a little hang out so they could all get to know each other better.
Delainie stated again about wanting to be a seeker, which made her wonder what it took to be one. They were both small because they were first years, but they probably both had skills that would make them good for any position they wanted to pursue. Salina like things that made her feel strong and mighty, and she wasn't against getting rough, so being a Beater sound good, knocking balls into people. And Chaser meant she could race to score points too, all the while on a broom. Quidditch definitely sounded fun, it reminded her of American football, or even baseball. It was like a combination of them both, really, excluding the Seeker part, maybe.
"So far the weirdest thing that's happened to me was getting lost where the moving stairs are. Yeah, I really don't like feeling lost, so it was bad for me..." Salina rubbed the back of her neck wearily.
Then the Ravenclaw asked her about her blood status. Salina narrowed her eyes at first but the girl just seemed genuinely curious rather than ill-intentioned, so she answered, bluntly, "My family are non-magic." She looked off to the side tiredly. "Um, so I have to go do other stuff, so it was nice to finally get your name, I guess."

Quidditch Through the Ages
I loved reading, but I hoped that Salina would like this book, so I smiled when she said that she was going to read it tonight, well, nodded to my question rather. Maybe I'll find a book on duelling, or broom racing I thought, there were so many books here, it would be almost impossible not to find one!
I wasn't sure if I would make a good seeker, but I still wanted to be one anyways, I thought that it might be fun! I looked at Salina, she would probably make a good beater or chaser I thought to myself. Quidditch just seemed so fun, maybe me and Salina would end up playing together, that would be cool. I couldn't wait to apply to become a seeker, though I would honestly take any position!
Ugh! Those stupid moving stairs! I thought. They were so annoying, and pretty scary. Sometimes when they would move, you would lose your balance and fall over, or just wobble a bit sometimes too. It was also pretty scart if you needed to get somewhere, and they moved if someone else was on them.
At first, it seemed like Salina was mad about my question about her blood status, but I think that when she realized that I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, she told me that she was a muggle born, Cool! I thought.
@Salina Skeeter are we done this thread now??
