PV Duelling is fun... Right? closed

Nothing to obscure their vision, nothing to distract them from their spellcasting. With all the negative effects circling the dueling field now gone, things are looking fair.

That's, at least, what Raizel was expecting as the round continued, which is why the following event had caught the Gryffindor completely off guard. As usual, she was watching the two, waiting patiently for their spells and assessing each of them, making sure that no one is close to fainting just yet. She won't have the strength to carry someone but then again, she could probably ask an older person for assistance. It happened when she was looking at Zach, watching as his grip on his wand tightened and ready to cast his spell.

A familiar spell left his wand, an incantation that they had heard before echoed. It was another Dancing-feet Spell and it went sailing towards Alyssea who was also in the middle of casting a spell. Either it was because of the hit from Zach's spell or perhaps she slipped on her heels when she tried to move away from the incoming projectile while casting her spell, something had caused her spell to go completely way off mark. While it would've been fine if it just went past Zach or went somewhere else, it didn't. Instead, it went tearing through the air towards the Gryffindor.

Raizel's eyes widened as the spell made its way towards her, a nervous grin appearing on her face as she changed her stance before ducking out of its way. "Well that was a close one." She muttered, looking over to Alyssea and she was just in time to see the girl busting out some moves with some sort of hip-hop dance. "That's cruel." That's the second time Alyssea got hit by that spell but at least this one wasn't as powerful as the one earlier.

He had not seen Alyssea dance clearly due to the thick fog in the previous rounds. So he decided to cast Dancing-Feet Spell again to see it clearly. He didn't know what she would dance, but tango would be fun. At the same time, he saw Alyssea slip on her heels, maybe due to his spell that successfully hit her, and made the spell she cast go to another target, Raizel. It indeed made Zach's eyes widen to witness it. Fortunately, the Gryffindor girl seemed to have a good reflect and she could dodge the Knockback Jinx from Alyssea. "That's cool," Zach said to both girls in amusement. His shocked face turned into an excited face because he found it entertaining.

Alyssea seemed not really in a good condition compared to her in the first round. "Am I too cruel?" he said in his thought. The reason why this duel started was that Zach wanted Alyssea to feel how exciting duelling is. He just hoped that Alyssea would find it so. Then Zach pointed his wand toward Alyssea. He knew for sure what action he would do for the next round. He just need to pray he could cast his spell and hit his opponent successfully. "But if it didn't hit, uh... It is what it is," he thought. A smile bloomed when he was thinking about that.

Of course, Alyssea's worst nightmare just had to come back to haunt her because Zach sent another Dancing Feet Spell her way. For the duration of the duel, her dodging skills were fine, but something round hit the bottom of her foot this time and she slipped just as Zach's spell hit her. Good news about the spell: she didn't faceplant into the floor from slipping on whatever that was (likely a pearl from her heels. She'd have to mourn it later) since the spell sent her straight back up and moving. Bad news about the spell: she wouldn't aim her spell correctly.

Alyssea just really, really, really wanted to land a hit. She hadn't done that in a long time, mostly because of her impaired accuracy and the stamina-draining spells Zach cast on her. She sent her Flipendo off, confident it wouldn't backfire on her. But the dancing must've severely thrown off her aim since Raizel had to duck. It was a blur, but Alyssea still worried. Did she hit Raizel?

"You okay?!" She huffed. "Really sorry!"

Their DADA professor would not be impressed by her lack of concentration at this moment. But she could also blame it on summer break.

Imagine if that Flipendo hit her at that moment. While it may not be as powerful as the one that Dee had casted on her during their practice, it still gotta hurt, like a lot. Not enough to render her unconscious in one-shot but still, she prefers not getting hit by any spell especially when she's not even part of the duel. She's only a moderator right now after all, and she would like to enjoy watching a duel peacefully. Good thing that, despite being taken by surprise, Raizel still managed to dodge the spell.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Raizel called out to Alyssea when she heard her ask how she was doing. However, Raizel should be asking that to Alyssea. She looked like a mess and now she's back into dancing, the sound of her heels tapping on the piste resounding throughout the dueling club. Even though Alyssea looked like she could go down anytime soon, she still remained strong. Zach looks like he is ready to end this duel soon though.

While Alyssea was busy busting some moves on the piste which she just turned into a dancefloor, Zach had aimed another spell at her, another one that's been casted before. "Rictusempra!" He would chant and shoot out the spell. His aim was spot on and there was no way Alyssea could avoid that while dancing.

Or so they thought anyway.

At the last moment, right when it was just a couple of distance away, Alyssea had spun around to avoid the incoming projectile and striking a pose just as the spell released its hold on her, successfully evading the spell with style and even finishing the dance. "That was brilliant!" Raizel called out to her, chuckling at the results of this round. No spells coming her way and Alyssea just pulled off a last second dodge.

What Zach wanted to see was Alyssea's condition when they were in a fog earlier. He thought it would be interesting to watch such a performance. The Tickling Charm was cast from his wand toward the Hufflepuff girl. "Rictusempra!" However, his expectation didn't happen. Alyssea successfully dodge the spell! Zach was utterly surprised. Zach was always surprised in this duel. In terms of dodging spells, Alyssea was better than him. Even though she was on those torturing shoewear (read: heels), she could dodge the spells. "That's very cool! Bravo!" Zach clapped his hands excitedly when he saw Alyssea finish her dance. It made him think that Alyssea might be great joining On Pointe Dance Club.

"We still have 2 more rounds, right?" he asked Raizel the moderator. Zach just realized that it was coming nearly to the end of the duel. He was really curious about what act will Alyssea do in the next round since her condition was back to normal again. But she clearly didn't have enough stamina. "Don't push yourself. We can end it if you surrender." Zach said with a smile. What smile was he giving to Alyssea? Even Zach himself didn't know. He just wanted to be kind but also didn't want to lose.

"Yeah, I'm okay."

Alyssea breathed out in relief. While it was a shame the spell didn't hit its intended target, at least her spell didn't hit Raizel. The girl wasn't even participating in the duel and she had to dodge.

Meanwhile, Zach fired his Rictusempra. Was he trying to recreate that moment during the smokescreen? Because Alyssea did not want it. But Alyssea also didn't want to potentially hit Raizel again with another spell and focused on directing her dancing legs out of the spell's firing line.

Sure enough, it worked and the hold on her legs loosened. She laughed anyway, regardless of the lack of the tickling charm. Was it a coping mechanism? Was she genuinely amused by her success? Or was it both?

Alyssea struck one last pose as the spell wore off and her laughs only increased. "Oh my gosh," she breathed.

Definitely a coping mechanism. She bent her knees to regain the blood flow in her legs. Her calves were on fire. Still, she was surprised that she didn't slip (excluding the time she slipped on a pearl) and break her ankles. That was her biggest concern coming in today.

"Don't push yourself. We can end it if you surrender," Zach said.

Should they end it here? It would certainly end the torturous excursion she had endured in heels up until now. But there were still two rounds to go. They were that close to the end (it flew by a lot faster than she anticipated), so she might as well see it to the end, right?

Never back down, her friend's words echoed in her ears again. Right. Never back down.

Alyssea shook her head. "We're close to the end. Might as well try reach it."

Alyssea raised her wand for what might be the last time. Who knows what'll hit her next.

“Yup, this duel is coming to an end.” Raizel answered Zach. Such a shame that a good duel is about to end. Things are just getting exciting, especially since Alyssea is putting up a good fight against Zach. All those spells thrown at her and here she is, still standing and kicking.

A chance to give up is what Zach offered yet the Hufflepuff didn’t take. A burning determination is what she has right now and Raizel can’t say she can’t relate to it. Right, they had come this far already, might as well finish it right to the very end of it. With all her strength, Alyssea’s wand released a stronger version of her Fire-Making Spell as if it was answering her desire to keep fighting till the very end. It went zooming through the air, embers scattered as it burst right when it had hit the Ravenclaw boy, setting his sleeves on fire.

Zach didn’t just stand there to take the hit though. Before his clothes had caught on fight, he had shoot out a Disarming Charm towards Alyssea in hopes of rendering her wandless and unable to cast any spell in the upcoming final rounds of this duel to secure his victory but Alyssea was too quick on her feet despite being in heels. After casting her spell, she saw the incoming one and swiftly avoided it. Perhaps the Hufflepuff might still have a chance.

Alyssea raised her wand, quickly drew flame and cast "Incendio." She hoped the second time around would yield better results, considering her first Incendio almost backfired and was quite pathetic, really.

So to say she was happy when the spell did hit would be an understatement. Alyssea was ecstatic. Not only that, Zach's clothes caught on fire, something that Alyssea was spared of when she got hit by his fire spell. Alyssea's not the type to wish harm on anyone, but this was a duel and she wanted to get some damage in right before the end. Her chances of winning were low, but that didn't mean she had no fighting spirit left.

Zach fired his disarming spell, but she still dodged out of the spell's firing line even after all that dancing and dodging. Whether or not her heels did give her increased luck, this might be her best round yet.

Don't jinx it, though, she reminded herself. It would be embarrassing if she knocked herself out in this final round.

Out of habit, she yelled out, "Sorry!" to Zach. After this, they can laugh about it properly. But right now, her desire to even out the playing field overpowered her sympathy. Maybe it was time to learn Reparifors, or some healing spell in any class.

"If I disarm her this round, the next round will end peacefully," he thought but Alyssea chose violence. Zach quickly cast Expelliarmus towards her. However, she cast Incendio towards Zach at the same time, and lucky for her, the spell hit! Not just that. It also burnt Zach's sleeve. The fortune was not in his favor this time. It might be caused by the distraction of the flame that made his cast miss.

"Not the fire!" Zach shouted in shock. He could clearly smell the burnt material from the sleeve. "Can Reparo fix this?" he wondered. His mom would ask him ton of questions if she saw the burnt part of his white shirt. He would be dead if his mom knew that Zach was still duelling. Not literally dead, of course, but the word really described it well what will happen to him when she found out about it.

Zach had to be focused again. It was just one more round and the duel would end. Perhaps, his sleeve also could also be rescued faster. "Finally the last round," he said. "Be prepared because I won't be easy. You choose violence and so do I," he said. With the wand pointed at his opponent, Zach was ready to do his next action.

Zach was a bit out of character but I really enjoy writing this post lol. I love it

And here it is, the final round of this duel.

From what it looks like, Alyssea still has a chance to win this as long as her spell hits and she dodges any spell that might be thrown at her by Zach. For this final round, the Hufflepuff had decided to give it her all by using the same spell that she had shot at Zach before, another Incendio. Zach’s sleeve was still on fire and Alyssea seems to be aiming to set him on fire some more with this spell. A successful cast and the spell was sent forward, successfully hitting the Ravenclaw but fortunately this time, no more flame remnants.

That’s where Alyssea’s luck seems to end as Zach, just before he was hit by that Incendio had successfully casted another Rictusempra. Looks like both duelists went for spells that they had casted before and from the looks of the trajectory of the spell, and Alyssea’s exhausted condition, that’ll definitely hit and Raizel can’t let the girl pass out on them since, it’ll be hard carrying her to the hospital wing, even if she’s with Zach.

Thinking back, there was a spell that was once used by Meenauh to save someone that was about to get hit by her Flipendo before. Think fast, she needs to act now.

Raizel pulled out her wand and while she knows this might hurt a little, it’s better than getting hit by that Rictusempra. The Gryffindor made a quick sweeping gesture with her wand before speaking out the incantation. “ Depulso!” She doesn’t know if it’ll work, this is after all, a spell that’s currently beyond her year level and she had only just a few practice with it. Luckily this time though, it worked and looked even close to perfect. She’s not aiming to harm but rather just to push Alyssea away from the spell to try and save her. Hopefully, the spell reaches her before the Rictusempra.

The results would still be the same though, Zach wins this practice duel.
