Amidst the dimly lit confines of the Hogwarts Express compartment, Jannette Honey Applebottom let a sigh of relief escape her lips. Not only was she officially labeled a second year, but she also was free from her mother's grasp. Reflecting on her recent Diagon Alley escapades, Jannette couldn't help but cringe at her reckless spending of the galleons her mother had entrusted to her for school supplies. Instead of the essential parchment, quills, and books, she had squandered it on a delicious unicorn sundae with sparkly sprinkles and mischievous prank gags at Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes. Oh, the memory of her mother's dramatic scene in Diagon Alley; the feeling of her grip tightening around Jannette's arm like a child throwing a tantrum, still seemed to haunt her. Or maybe what was worse was the fact that the whole alley witnessed her mother's unfiltered outpouring of wizarding swears, leaving some parents scrambling to protect their children's innocent ears.

Luckily, the embarrassment was all over now, right? While most students would normally just read a book, look out the window of the compartment, or just wait patiently until someone comes in. But instead of those things, Jannette had the bright idea to see if she remembered a few of the spells she learned last year. I mean, the last time she really cast a spell was during her fight with Cynthia, and plus, what's the worse that can happen?! It's not like she's going to destroy the whole train with one first-year spell...

"Now Lehs see if oi stihll go' it, hmm?"1 She murmured to herself, ignoring every voice of caution in her head that this would be a horrible idea... her hand beginning to rummage through the fabrics of her nicely knitted coat jacket before finally finding and taking the applewood wand into her left hand. "Aha!" She says, her Scottish accent still as thick can be, before pondering what spell she could do. She could try something simple like Wingardium Leviosa, but that's too boring. ' There has to be something I could' -- but then from out of nowhere, a glow appeared in green eyes. If Professor Zoë was here she'd probably be disappointed in Jannette right now...

With Jannette's cat, Melrose now laying peacefully atop the compartment cubby storage, exuding an air of contentment through soft purrs. Jannette had a look of determination on her face. clearing her throat, she aims her wand at the compartment door before breaking almost every rule of spell casting as a student. "Verdimillious." she proclaimed, perhaps more boldly than was wise. Instantly, the applewood wand emitted vibrant green hues, illuminating the confined space and shooting forth playful particles toward the compartment door, which, without warning, was flung open by a poor student who would now come directly with the flying green sparks...

What a crazy Summer. The time with her family, how horrible it all was.... well other than spending time with Victoria, that was always a well needed time. Then visiting Astrid, going to all those pureblood parties.... having to learn how to behave, what to say or not say. And learning some.... perhaps news, of what was expected of Monica. Now that she had come back into the Notresvace family. It was so much pressure. So much new in the span of nearly a month.... Of course there was far more that happened over the summer, but for now all the Slytherin wished to do, was throw it all out of her mind. This was a new year, and Hogwarts seemed to be the only safe place from her family, and well her new found responsibilities in the Notresvace Family.

Her sister dropped her off at the station. The good-bye was simple. It would seem Victoria could sense how desperately Monica needed to get away from it all. Before leaving the car, Victoria took her sister into a hug, "You keep writing okay?" She whispered in Monica's ear, "I know I can't understand what you're going through, but I am here for you."

A tear formed in Monica's eye, she squeezed her sister tight, before letting go, and heading into the station.

Finding the familiar wall that would lead her to the Platform, Monica tapped Kiwi on the head, as she ran them both through with her belongings. The Hogwarts express was a welcoming sight indeed. Monica took a deep breath, ready to start her year three.

She boarded the train, and began her search for a compartment to join. Wondering if she should locate her friends, or find a new person to sit with. Before she could make up her mind, her eyes were caught by a green flash. A sigh escaped her lips, as she approached the compartment, seeing none other than Jannette.

Monica opened the door, crossing her arms as she looked at the girl, wand in her hand. Standing for a moment, Monica tried to hold the Prefect look, "I don't believe I need to tell you that is against the rules." She stated, trying so hard to hold composure, but eventually couldn't keep a smile from cracking out, it was good to see a familiar face.

She walked into the compartment, "We can say you were studying, if you allow me to join you." She said very bubbly as she brought in her trunk. If Jannette would accept, Monica would go in for a hug, "It's great to see you! How was your summer?" All she wanted was friendly conversation, and just a pleasant ride to hogwarts, forgetting all that her summer was.

With the sparks erupted across the compartment walls, leaving behind a trail of green particles sorta like a firework display. Jannette's cat, Melrose, let out a startled leap from the compartment luggage as she let out an irritated cat noise. The coincidental timing almost felt comical as the compartment door swung open to reveal none other than Slytherin Prefect herself, Monica Evans. And Kiwi too of course!

"I don't believe I need to tell you that is against the rules."

Looking at Monica's gaze, Jannette couldn't help but recognize the all-too-familiar look of the Prefect's stern disapproval. While the two had a familiar past, the two looked completely different since they last met. "Old habits die hard, huh?" Her words were laced with a hint of guilt yet were serious, Jannette's face mimicking the Prefect's now somber look. The tension began to rise in the air, as the sound of the train whistling its cheerful tune contrasted the two witch's standre-off.

While the second-year demeanor was showing confidence, beneath the poker face, her lips twitched a little as her heart raced a million miles a second. It’s like fate gave her the worse outcome, the reality of possibly getting detention before even setting foot into Hogwarts seemed impressive but also at the same time sad. The horrors of the sudden realization of her mother sending her Howlers every day at the Great Hall seemed more and more like it was gonna come true, right?

With the ♪ sound of silence ♪ in the compartment still growing, two grins joined together in unison like the Frog Choir. Jannette’s own composure broke as a shared understanding of these two histories seemed pretty evident now as her lips parted in a lighthearted chuckle. Oh, the memories of the verbal altercation between herself and Irina being abruptly stopped by the very Prefect who now stood before her during her first year. A sense of nostalgia sorta carried the moment, with it a hint of irony on the side. It was good to see Monica again, especially with how long it’s been since these two last interacted… The Snek Fort still needed maintenance you know!

"We can say you were studying, if you allow me to join you."

“Aye o’ course yee can join,”1 the brunette said with a chortle, her iconic Scottish accent adding a touch of charm to her words like a new spell being learned in class. Pushing herself up from the cushioned seat, she carefully stored her wand in the depths of her plaid coat pocket. “Funny enuff I was jus’ finishin’ studyin’ ‘ow t’not get caught by a Prefect soooo -- might need t'study more...”2 Jannette joked, before pressing a strand of hair behind her ear.

"It's great to see you! How was your summer?"

In a tender moment, Jannette happily returned a heartwarming hug back to Monica. “It’s good t’see yah too!~”3 Her words carried sincerity at the two reunions. Seriously, so much between these two has changed so much since then.

Settling back into her seat with a loud thud, she fought to suppress an eye roll at Monica’s question. “Uuggghhh hones’ly don’ even get me started…”4 She retorted, her voice filled with disgust like someone who had just eaten an earthworm-flavored Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean. “My summ’r was HORRIBLE!”5 She exclaimed, her arms folded across her chest. “I was suppose t’be a’ summ’r camp but my mum saw moi repor’ card ‘n – well…”6 as she’d finish with a sigh of irritation. “Le’s jus’ say I ‘ad t’be with my Nan ‘n my little sis’er fer duh whole summ’r taken care o’ like… thirteen – NO fourteen cats.”7 Her tone was matter-of-fact and a reminder of the horrors of the boredom that happened to her that blissful summer. As if on cue, her own tabby cat cast a glare her way from the compartment luggage holder before letting out a snarl that seemed oddly timed, it was almost as if Melrose took a little offense to Jannette’s comment. “But besides my awful summ’r wha’ abouh’ you ‘n Kiwi’s summ’r?”8 her voice cutesy as she'd look toward

Her arms wrapped around the brunette girl, so grateful for a returned hug, it was exactly what Monica needed right now. Granted the two of them, at least as far as Monica could tell, were not super close friends. For one thing there was the slight age gap, but also their interaction never went farther then group hang outs. For Monica a close friend was someone that you seek out spending time together, so perhaps Miss Applebottom and herself, were on the track of building a close friendship in this moment.

Regardless, Monica took a seat, tucking away her trunk, and listened intently as the girl shared about her summer. Monica couldn't help but giggle at how BORING Jannette's summer was, "Ah I'm sorry you missed out of summer camp." Monica paused for a moment, she was also meant to miss out, but Astrid insisted she go, and continue in duelling, building up her wand skill, or something along those lines, "Honestly I didn't really participate in much, other than the Duelling Championship." She didn't say more about it, She dare not share more than she needed, all she wanted to do was forget about her summer. "But Seems like it would be a good push for getting your grades up to be able to go next year."

Jannette continued on, and it seemed her cat even reacted to her going on about watching over so many cats. Then the dreaded question was flipped on her, how was Monica's summer? In a word.....excessive. Over the top..... Emotional. But was Monica gonna dump all of that on this younger student? Of course not, she would keep her composure, like she had learned to do at all those Pureblood parties. And not dare show how dreadful it really was.

However she still wished to get to know her fellow Snek better, so she would show a little, at the very least. She pulled her fingers through her hair, showing off her new hair style, the two blue streaks framing her face, while the rest of her hair was a light brown, more natural looking, "I got my hair done with my sister, Felt like it was time for a change jumping into third year." She paused to pick her words carefully, "It was, Okay being home again, I find it so hard going from wizard world to muggle society, feels like a dream every time I go home. Summer camp was fun though!" (Insert comment on however the duel ends)

She sighed slightly, "Oh and I went to my first Pureblood....Party? If that's what it's called?" Then Monica paused, realizing Jannette didn't know anything about her being adopted, and realized that she would probably ask why she was at a Pureblood gathering. Jumping in before the girl could ask, "Ah I went with a friend.... it was... interesting" Hopefully that would subside any curiosity.

Monica gazed out the window, watching the world as it rushed by. She then turned to Jannette, with a grin on her face, "Alright, so what are 3 things you would like to happen this year? Like a spell you want to learn, or Something you wish to do?" She paused for a moment before add, "Or anyone you wish to date." As Monica got older, she seemed to showcase a sort of older sister vibe, and in this moment she realized she sounded just like her older sister Victoria.

Listening to Monica talked about her time at summer camp made Jannette’s ears perked up, a subtle hint of her interest, the times of just flinging spells at someone else were always exciting even if she really only tried it only once. “Oh dah soun’s fun!” While she did wanna say more she held her breath. Any Slytherin would brag about their victories against their opponents but then again maybe Monica was a little more humble than herself.

"But Seems like it would be a good push for getting your grades up to be able to go next year."

Sucking her teeth, a frustrated breath escapes the brunette's lips. “I know... I know..." Jannette groaned as she gave off major little sister energy. The feeling was all too familiar as it felt as if she was reliving a stern talking to from her older sister, Jessica about how important Jannette's grades are for like the billionth time. "But in my defense, Professer Browne's class is sooooOOOooooo boring, anytime ‘e lectures ‘e makes me just wannah...”1 Jannette's voice trailed off as she teasingly shut her eyes and began to let out loud exaggerated snores as if imitating a nice nap during her time in HoM as a first year. Finishing her skit with a chortle, her cheeky attitude toward education really shows and honestly, who can blame her?! It’s not her fault that Professor Browne's class is so boring… Okay, maybe she wasn’t as mature as she once thought, but still, her criticism was valid!

"Oh and I went to my first Pureblood....Party? If that's what it's called? "Ah I went with a friend.... it was... interesting"

Jannette scoffed and began to paw at the air, her legs crossed. “Parties, gatherin’s – honestly I like t’call ‘em a Waste O’ Time.”2 She glanced over to Monica, her eyes showing a mix of amusement and curiosity. “‘N by interestin’ yuh mean yer paren’s gossipin’ t’other pureblood families for three hours while you awkwardly try t’make a good impression – then aye t’ere really in’eres’in…!”3 Her tone sarcastic and a harsh reminder of her experience at the Dupont ball and how important that was for her family. While the memories of that day became more and more vivid her demeanor changed to disappointment when she thought about Beatrice Dupont. Not because of Bea’s personality or that there is any bad blood between these two, but instead, because Jannette now had to worry about her being a rule-enforcing Prefect...

No offense of course.

"I got my hair done with my sister, Felt like it was time for a change jumping into third year.”

Leaning forward a tiny bit, her head tilted 45 degrees. wooaahh so pretty!~” Her attention was now drawn to the two strands of vibrant blue hair that highlighted Monica like someone who was drawn to a new shiny object. "Oi also 'ave a new look." She says matter-of-factly before abruptly getting out of her seat for a moment and getting uncomfortably close to Monica, as in typical Jannette fashion personal space is just not a thing for this girl. "Do yah notice anythin' different about me Monica, hmmmmm, HMMmmMMMmmm?!" She pointed at her apple-shaped face her eyes all wide. It was hard to tell if she was pointing because she wasn't wearing her typical clunky spectacles or pointing at the fact that her face was covered in red dots scattered all over her face that you could play connect the dots?!

Sitting back down, the girl listened to Monica talk about her transition from wizarding to muggle society, the brunette began to scrunch her nose. While Jannette never really lived with muggles she did hear a few things about them. For one they had wonderful music, and two was that in America some muggles lived in a Big Apple?! To this very day, Jannette was still bewildered by how MACUSA hasn’t investigated anything involving an Apple that people can live in…

"Alright, so what are 3 things you would like to happen this year? Like a spell you want to learn, or Something you wish to do? Or anyone you wish to date."

“Date?!” She squawked in surprise with a side of her voice cracked sprinkled in there. Her face turned red as an apple before her body slinked into the cushion, the question honestly caught her off guard; though it did make her think more than any homework assignment she ever had. I mean, did she really ‘like-like’ anyone? Her reputation at Hogwarts among the other students wasn’t the best as she was probably known for possessing an overly emotional, snobby, and eccentric personality that didn’t necessarily help her in attracting any potential suitors. And besides, the last time she ever put herself out there, it lead to her getting stood up! But she’d never admit any of that to Monica.

A snort escaped Jannette's nose like a pony, as she nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. “Psshhh probably not, if oi was datin’ i’d probably ‘ave a line of guys ‘n gals from duh compar’ment spannin’ all dah way to the platform. I don’ need dah much attention on me righ’ now.”4 She giggled, adding to the amusement lightly by tapping her index finger against the glass window of the compartment train. “Though if I ‘ad to think… definitely get be’er grades, uhhhhmmm…”5 Silence hung in the air for a moment before Jannette's snapped her fingers, “Oh ‘n make new friends 'n finally--6 She began to roll her eyes, shaking her head as to hold herself from grinning from ear to ear. “Gettin' over my fear of Cassandra Ironwood!~” The words were delivered in a joking manner as she chuckled. Though underlying that joke held a touch of truth at the end. “‘Ow abou’ you huuuuhh, wha’s ur plans for your third year? Plannin’ on da’in anyone, ♪ HmmmMMmmmmm ♪?~"7 She droned in a cheery voice, curious as to how Monica is gonna reply.

In a moment, the younger Snake got up from her seat, getting right close to Monica, who instantly tried to back up a bit, but was confined by the booth she sat in. Jannette proceeded to ask if Monica noticed anything about her new look. Given the shock of no longer having her own personal space, Monica found it rather hard to pick out what the girl was trying to point out to her. She started wondering if Jannette ever wore glasses? Did she get tanned? Does she have a scar? "Ah," Monica began to say, as she held out her hand to try to indicate some personal space needed, "Hard to say..." Getting Jannette a few inches away from her face, Monica was able to see more clearly.... Was it glasses? "Didn't you have a pair of specs before?" Hoping she had gotten it write, she awaited to hear Jannette's answer.

Conversation when on, and once Monica had asked her question, she saw Jannette get a little blush, ever so slightly. The girl claimed, in her signature accent, that if she was dating, she would likely fill the halls with all the guys and gals. Monica laughed at this, the idea that someone could have that many people interested in them, what a thought. Collecting herself she settled, just really enjoying her time riding to Hogwarts. Jannette was rather fun to be around, and it would seem the pair got along well. Jannette continued to answer Monica's question, and upon her mentioning a fear of Cassandra Monica piped in, "Fear?" Though Monica wasn't overly close with Cassandra, she did work with them as a prefect for a bit, and found little to be afraid of, so she pressed further, "What about them strikes this fear response, if I may ask?"

Once the question was thrown back on herself about dating, Monica's face beat bright red. Serves her right, what did she expect? That she could ask such a question without a return to sender response?

Her mind went to Hiro.... Honestly her first crush ever, but also how bitter sweet the whole thing was. One minute it seems like she might have caught this thing called feelings, but then.... something just feels like it's missing. Of course Monica was still fond of the boy, but she could recognize that she didn't really have feelings for him, no more than she did for any friend she had in her life. And yet for some reason.... she was blushing, and uncomfortable.... why? Was there someone that had captured her attention? Someone that set butterflies swarming in her stomach? No.... Impossible.... right?

"Ah, I'm not sure..." She chose to just say anything, perhaps Jannette wouldn't push further, and Monica wouldn't have to face whatever turning was happening in her stomach.

As the two faces seemed so close that it would make anyone uncomfortable. Monica, understandably, extended her hand out in a gesture of sorts. While most people would recognize what this social cue meant, instead, Jannette responded with a couple of blinks and a puzzled look on her face. Still not moving and yes, still patiently waiting for an answer. What did Monica expect her to do? talk to the hand?

"Hard to say... Didn't you have a pair of specs before?"

Not even realizing Monica scooted a few inches away, a glint in her emerald eyes shined brightly before a wide smile appeared on her lips showing her two buckteeth! "Ding-ding-ding!" The second year chirped like a bell before retracing her steps back into the lavish red cushiony seats, the two continuing their conversation.

"What about them strikes this fear response, if I may ask?"

Jannette rolls her eyes, her arms now folded across her chest, seeming a little surprised about that question. "Wha' about them isn't scary?!" Her mind wandered to the times of Cassandra's snake slithered around Jannette and the other group of first years. Luckily for Jannette, she never had to experience one of their detentions last year or any year as Cassandra retired the badge. "Oi heard one time, they made a student scrub dah entirety of Hogwarts!"1 It was a mere rumor, was it true? Obviously not. Cassandra probably wasn't that cruel, but it was gossip nonetheless and besides, the young Applebottom girl was too gullible to notice the difference anyways.

When she flipped the question onto Monica a feeling of power seemed to shift. The once pleasant and friendly conversation turned more personal now, as Jannette raised a brow to her response. The Prefect looked -- uncomfortable... To Jannette, it looked like Monica was stuck on a 50/50 guess on a Charms test, contemplating what the right answer was.

"Ah, I'm not sure..."

"No' sure...?! 'n from a lass like yourself?! HAH!"2 Jannette snorts sarcastically, her pupils going wide-eyed as a smug smile appears ear to ear. Red face, unsure response, pointless words. She wasn't buying that answer, especially from a Slytherin Prefect and Duelist like Miss Evans. "I don' buy it fer a secon'."3 Seeming rather confident in her answer, her mood shifted at Monica with pleading eyes. Jannette was in the house of the cunning after all you know... "Come on ye' can tell me! Please, pleeeeaaaassseeee!!!!!" She begs, the pitch whiny as if she was acting like a rather obnoxious sister who just doesn't shut up. "Pre'y please with an apple on top?!~" While begging isn't pretty on anyone, you have to give the second-year credit for her determination. "I promise wha'evah you say, will stay 'ere!"4 A promise is a promise, but with Jannette's big apple mouth would it really stay in this compartment?

@Jannette Applebottom | @Monica Evans ------------------------------------------------------------Replying as Kit Isabelle Blaine.
Kit was surprised - and not pleasantly - when she found out she had to take a train, an actual train, to Hogwarts. Floo Powder was supposed to be a thing. Or portkeys, she liked portkeys just a well. It was Magic School after all. However, she supposed all she could do was to enjoy the journey. Although the thought of sitting alone was tempting, Kit still needed companionship. She would like to know exactly what kinds of people called - or would call - Hogwarts home.

Kit jolted as the train blew steam, preparing to leave. She hefted her baggages, heavy with new ideas for pranks. Well, maybe not just that: books, clothing, supplies, and other items were stuffed into one tiny case. At least tiny for her messy standards. Kit just hoped her dorm mates didn't mind. Even better, she hoped that she just didn't have any dorm mates. Sometimes isolation was a blessing. Taking a deep breath, the girl decided that the Hogwarts Express was the only way forward. The train jerked beneath her feet and started moving. A small yelp escaped Kit as she almost lost her footing. She needed to get into a compartment and sit down - and quickly!

A scan of the room revealed all of the doors to be opaque. Kit simply could not identify which compartments were empty and which were not. She decided to take a chance, not caring for who was inside or what they would think of her. The train was moving. She just needed to sit. Kit bursted into the compartment closest to her and frantically closed the door, as if she was being chased by a monstrous beast. After noticing two people already in the room, chatting the ride away, Kit blushed and faltered.

Both of them were Slytherins, but Kit could not have cared less for their house. One was brunette girl who looked about the same age as Kit, perhaps a second year since she was already sorted. She did not look of interest, quite plain. She had just been speaking as Kit entered and the girl's accent was annoyingly Scottish, cutting of the 't's and the 'h's. Despite being Scottish herself Kit had never appreciated the strong accent. Sitting next to the girl was another Slytherin who looked of more interest. Her hair was dyed a delightful dark blue and, by the looks of it, she was older than Jannette. She bore a badge with a large letter 'P' on it. The girl had no idea what it meant; perhaps it was for a club of some sorts? Kit couldn't help but smile at the rat that was apparently hers. She simply loved small animals.

'Oh my god,' she said, gasping quite dramatically for air. 'The train just started and I have no idea where to sit.' Kit wavered and took a breath. 'I would appreciate it if you forgot the fact I crashed into your compartment without asking. Don't take it too personally.' She sat down without asking and placed her luggage on the overhead compartments - act now, ask later. She leaned closer to the two girls, not caring if they felt awkward when she was feeling just fine. 'So... what sort of juicy gossip are you two discussing?' Perhaps it was her self-serving curiosity, or perhaps it was her attempt at ice breaking?

Monica smiled, it was a charm about Jannette. Though the younger Slytherin's prying to some could be seen as pushy or annoying, to Monica it was amusing. Her eyes instinctively rolled as she was now avoiding eye contact. What would she say? Was there anything to say? Staring out the window she let herself ponder, was there someone she fancied? A glance she lingered on, or a conversation that replayed in her mind? Anything?

Though Monica didn't realize it, her face was turning beat red, and her smile became a permeant fixture on her cheeks. To be honest there was a moment that left her rather stunned, though it was such a brief interaction. Monica's mind danced back to a small cat and rat chase that had occurred during her first summer camp. The owner of said cat was someone that Monica thought of fondly, but didn't have many interactions with. Yet the little time they did have together was something that just stuck in Monica's mind.

Becoming aware of her own mannerisms, Monica looked back to Jannette. Opening her mouth to try and defer the conversation when.... she was saved!

The compartment door flew open, and another student stood their, looking like they were escaping something horrible, but Monica was just so relived that something broke the current tension. The girl seemed to pause for a moment, but it wasn't very long, before she took her seat in the compartment.

"For a first year, she is rather bold." Monica thought to herself, but being a Prefect, she shifted her mind to hospitality.... at least that was her job? She reached out her hand once the girl had settled to shake it, stopping mid offer when she asked what juicy gossip was being discussed. Monica side glanced Jannette, "Please don't ask again, Please please please!" She fully extended her hand, and with a smile, "Well one should be expected to have some level of introduction before discussions?" Her voice dropped, trying to appear older and wiser than she really was. "Monica Evans, Slytherin Prefect." She added.

Once the girl (If she chose to) took Monica's hand, Kiwi would run across Monica's arm sniffing at the girls hand, assessing if she was friendly or not. "Oh sorry about her, she is very social." Monica said using her other hand to hold back her rat before any further action could be done, if this girl was afraid of rats, Monica didn't want her to freak out moments after sitting down.

Despite their unfamiliarity, the conversation between Jannette and Monica slowly became one of comfort. While their personalities and energy were complete opposites, the two seemed to attract a chemistry to each other that created a fun conversation and friendship. And while Monica appeared reserved and holding back an answer, her rosy cheeks and wide smile spoke volumes. Jannette knew she was concealing her true feelings about someone. "Yer smilllliiiin'!!!~" Jannette couldn't resist teasing with a giddy point, followed by a playful giggle. "Cohme on, oi knooowww you wanna tell me!" Jannette was your typical tween, a mix of curiosity and peer pressure that anyone would recognize from their school days.

But just as Monica was about to answer, the compartment door swung open abruptly, causing Jannette to shift her attention toward the noise, only for the door to be slammed shut! The sound of a loud bang echoed throughout the compartment; the brunette startled by the sudden noise tensed her shoulders and her face involuntarily flinching in response to the sound. Jannette's gaze focused on the girl now, the hues of green in her eyes would scan her up and down. Evident by her plain black robes the girl was a first-year, her hair looked a darkish brown and so untidy that it looked like the Whomping Willow on a stormy day, and her face seemed to reflect that of someone who just saw a Dementor!

"Oh my god, The train just started and I have no idea where to sit. I would appreciate it if you forgot the fact I crashed into your compartment without asking. Don't take it too personally."

Ickle-Firstie!

Well, that was an introduction. Jannette's reaction was well... flabbergasted. She didn’t really expect someone to be so forward and confident, but she did have respect for the first year for that. Jannette then seemed to seek Monica's reaction almost as if she were a younger sister seeking guidance from an older sibling.

"Well one should be expected to have some level of introduction before discussions? Monica Evans, Slytherin Prefect."

Jannette couldn’t help but roll her eyes, her voice mimicking Monica's for a moment before a teasing smile now visible on her lips. "More loike Slytherin Buhzzkill."1 The second-year chirped from the sidelines before her tone would go back to her normal obnoxious Scottish accent. "Jannette, Jannette Applebottom." She introduced herself with a pause her focus still on Kit as a rather venomous look now appeared on Jannette's face. "Slytherin." She added, her tone carrying a hint of pride.

"So... what sort of juicy gossip are you two discussing?"

While Jannette could talk about, "Well we we're talkin' abou' somethin'..."2 She cast a meaningful glance at Monica, almost as if it there was a mutual understanding yet still, a challenge. This isn't over Miss Evans. Then, shifting her attention back to the first-year, Jannette continued with a toothy grin, "Bu' you're a first-year 'n like -- too young t'ave dah conversashion, righ' Monica?"3 There was a touch of amusement when she said that, and her use of the age card carried a certain level of pettiness that it could really only come from someone like Jannette. As a young girl, she'd HATED when her siblings played that card on her, but now that Jannette was a second-year herself, using it on first-years was simply irresistible.

As she was waiting to see if the first-year would shake Monica’s hand, Jannette continued, "Though we are curious, wha’ t’ree things would yuh like t’appen this year at Hogwarts?"4 She’d cross her legs, her posture seeming a little more relaxed now, "Stuff like spells yuh wanna learn, friends yuh wanna meet --" She'd ramble before pausing again, a sly smirk etched on her face, "Prefered house..." Jannette finished nonchalantly though curiosity might have gotten the better of her cause the way this girl acting, she obviously seemed to have the bravery of a lion to enter a snakes den. "No wrong answers oi promise on Merlin, we don' bite."5
