Letters to Grandmother
Mentioning @Lucas Chapman and @Ruby CazaresMarch 17th, 2023
Isadora,
Since you're aware of what will elicit my disappointment, I wonder why you continue to perform disappointingly. Though, perhaps I placed too much on your shoulders. I should have known that you wouldn't be able to handle something like this. Don't mistake me, this is not an invitation to quit. I want you to keep dueling with Ms. Cazares as she continues to tutor you. This will give us a chance to grow closer to the family, and I expect you know the importance of that. No more forfeits, understand? Everridges must stand proud.
What other connections have you been making? Have you been speaking with Lucas Chapman at all? He'll be such a good companion to Bradley next year.
Sincerely,
Ramona Bethany Everridge

Dearest Grandmother,
I haven't actually seen Lucas Chapman in a while. I would let you know if I did. In fact, I haven't had much time to socialize with anyone lately as I'm trying to focus on my studies. I meet with Ruby every week, though, and I think she likes me. I like her. Isn't that enough?
Sincerely,
Isadora Everridge

Isadora,
I'd hardly say that one connection is "enough". Haven't you learned anything from me? Connections between families are what lead to growth and prosperity. We have what others want, and in return we get what we need. It's how we're able to live so comfortably. I'm not going to let you grow up to squander everything you've inherited. You must learn the proper ways.
This summer, you'll be working with me to prepare for the annual Summer Ball. Hopefully this will be the experience you need to start growing your social circle next year. You cannot remain a wallflower forever.
Sincerely,
Ramona Bethany Everridge

Dearest Grandmother,
You are right, I should be more proper. Congratulations on hosting the Summer Ball, I'm sure it will be amazing. I will try to learn a lot from you about holding big events and talking to important people. I get nervous, but that's no excuse. I won't be a wallflower at all.
I've sent along my recent marks. This time, I got almost all Outstanding. It's only Transfiguration that I got an E, and I was only a couple points off. I hope these marks are to your liking. I will see you soon when I come back for break.
Sincerely,
Isadora Everridge

Isadora,
These marks are not "to my liking", child. One E may not seem such a bother in the moment, but at this point you'll never achieve an O average in Transfiguration. I've done the math that you, apparently, have not. Isadora, my instructions to you at the beginning of the year were clear and simple. You were to study diligently and not become idle. You complain that you don't have time for socializing and yet if you were truly busy you would have yielded better results.
This is not only a disappointment to me, but to your teachers and tutor. You need not bother coming home for break, as a break is not something you need, evidently. Stay at Hogwarts and attempt to get ahead for the last part of the year, or choose to squander this time as well.
Sincerely,
Ramona Bethany Everridge
