Physical Description: Pendulum Feather is a fairly average looking person, even if their medium brown skin is a little out of the average in London. Somewhat short for their age, but not remarkably so, they appear as a rather feminine child, looking slightly older than their age due to an early growth spurt. They have shortish wavy black hair and dark brown eyes, wearing dark gray glasses with thin frames. Pendulum is also fairly slight and wears simple earrings and a shirt or t-shirt with jeans often when on the Muggle side of London.
Mental Description: Pendulum Feather is not as introverted as they might appear, but rather has a far lower requirement for social interaction than most. Despite this, Pendulum is happy to talk to their few close friends. Perhaps not the bravest of people, or the smartest, but Pendulum has a knack for seeing people for who they are and accepting them. They're rather creative as well. Just don't expect them to be able to focus on anything for long... or be surprised when they zone out at the most inconvenient moment.

Pendulum Feather was born in India, but they were too young to remember this. They moved to the UK with their parents when they were around two to three years old, moved to London from a smaller city a few years later, and have stayed there ever since. They've only ever known London (at least as far back as they can remember) but, technically, they are still a citizen of India.
Pendulum Feather is an only child and very close to their mother and father. They have a small fish tank at home and no other pets, and live in a semi-reasonably sized flat on the outskirts of London. Their father works as a decently well-paid software engineer, and their mother, while unable to work for some time due to immigration problems, eventually got a job as a medical coder. Their mother works from home while their father goes to office on some days and stays home some days, thus leading to Pendulum being very close to both their parents.
Pendulum is somewhat socially anxious, liking neither new introductions nor crowds, and tends to stay at home. Their parents were once travelers but mostly stick to the city after an unnerving experience with magic left behind by wizards when Pendulum was young (not that their mom or dad recognized it as such, thus becoming uncertain about their understanding of the UK.)
When Pendulum was six, their parents went on a hiking trip with a tour group in a forest deep in the UK, pretty far from home. Distracted by a faint noise, the young Pendulum ran away, and their parents followed them deeper into the forest, until the six-year-old stopped not far from a group of camping Muggles, who didn't see them. They observed a group of young adults doing 'magic' (In the muggle world, magic is essentially anything you can't understand) and using it to scam the other Muggles.
At this point, Pendulum's parents were further away and weren't noticed by the others, and happened to figure out while investigating that this was a scam. They attempted to warn the others, but the scam-artists weren't happy about this at all. Pendulum and parents fled back to their flat in London, with them afterwards legally changing their names so that they went by their new middle names instead of their last names. If Pendulum's parents had believed in magic to some extent before, they didn't anymore. Pendulum, who was younger, took this as a sign that things were rarely as they seemed, and it would later shape their view of magic.
As a result of this scare affecting their parents, Pendulum, who was already rather introverted, hasn't gone many places other than their flat and their school... But they were still a relatively happy child, often writing letters to or emailing their Muggle friends, or reading or writing.
Pendulum's first magical experience occurred rather late, although still before the age of 11. They were nine, almost ten, and heading back from school when one of their friends was crossing the street on a bicycle and they saw that a car was heading straight for them! Pendulum was really alarmed and wanted to warn them, but they were too scared. To their shock, their magic responded to this and the bicycle swerved out of the way! Pendulum was in extreme disbelief for a while, and always checked for cars several times before crossing the road afterwards.
Even though Pendulum and their parents knew that something was strange here, they were still all pretty shocked when a Hogwarts professor came with Pendulum's letter. But after some explanation, the bike incident began to make more sense. Pendulum's disbelief in 'magic' truly existing remained too strong for them to understand the truth of the situation until this time.
