A New Friend Pv Cassie Jiang

Cassie seldom comes to the Small Hall, because she has just no reason to come there. But today, a thought pops in her mind. Why not go visit the Small Hall? After all, it's the first place for her to set her foot on in the grand Hogwarts Castle.
She walks inside. The area isn't very crowded, though many people is walking pass her. A feeling of familiarity rose in Cassie's heart. She can still remember clearly when she was first standing here with some other first-years, anxiously waiting to enter the Great Hall and be sorted. She can still remember her little fear about this new place and new companion for her later 7 years.
Portraits are hanging on the walls. Cassie can name some of them. There are the portraits of the four founders of Hogwarts-- Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin. There are also portraits of people Cassie had seen on chocolate frog cards, though she has forgotten there names.
She realizes there are name tags below some portraits. So she walks near one while looking arounf at the room. Suddenly, she walks into someone. She is a pretty Gryffindor girl with pale hair and skin. Cassie quickly apologizes. 'Sorry, are you hurt? I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm so sorry.'

Akina stumbled a bit and looked up. A worried girl with glistening kind blue eyes stared down at her. She got back up and brushed off some dust off of her robes.

"I'm okay," Akina replied. She was more comfortable with making friends now that someone had approached her in the library. But here was also a nice, quiet place. Sure, there were still some occasional students walking about, laughing at a random joke. but otherwise it was a nice place to just...look at stuff, no matter how weird it sounded.

She started to wonder if the girl was in a rush. If so, she wanted to get out of her way. "Are you...going somewhere?" she asked. "I mean, since it's morning, I thought I'd have enough time to relax a bit before class." Akina forced herself to stop rambling and pretended to be busy readjusting the straps of the black gloves on her arms.

Akina looked at her royal blue themed robes and assumed she was a Ravenclaw. She sighed. My whole family has been in Ravenclaw... she thought sadly. But I'm in Gryffindor. Akina shook those thoughts off. She was in a house for a reason, and besides, it wouldn't be possible to change her house now.

'I am glad to hear that you are alright. What's you name by the way? I am Cassie Jiang, first year Ravenclaw. Nice to meet you!' Cassie looks at the girl. Pale skin, black hair, very beautiful indeed.

'Oh, I am not going anywhere, just to explore this small place, I haven't been here ever since my first arrival. You seem a bit sad. Are you tired? Do you need me to cheer you up?' Cassie pauses, to look at the girl to see if she is alright.

'What is your first lesson? Mine is Potions. I like Potions. Do you? I love mixing things together. As a Ravenclaw, my academics are great. Let me tell you something about my family, if you want to hear.' Cassie pauses again to give the girl an opportunity to express her ideas.

'My parents are both from Ravenclaw. They used to both be prefects of Ravenclaw. Before coming to Hogwarts, I wanted badly to be in Ravenclaw. But if I can't, I will choose Gryffindor. I see you are from Gryffindor right? Nice house, bravery... I like it. You want to be friends? Perhaps we can meet more often in lessons?' Cassie pauses, waiting for a reply.

Cassie asked Akina her name, so Akina answered, "I'm Akina Briarwood." She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She would have preferred another name, but she was okay with hers. Her first and last name just didn't match. It sounded weird together, and she knew it.

Cassie voiced that she was just looking around, like Akina. Akina nodded, as she was doing the same. "I am too. Yes, I'm kind of tired. I spent all night reading. And I'm fine," Akina responded, hoping not to worry her or turn Cassie into some sort of therapist.

Then Cassie asked her a lot of questions afterwards. Akina blinked, trying to keep of with what she had just said. "My first lesson is um. Transfiguration, I think." She was supposed to have memorized her timetable, but somehow today she hasn't. Maybe she was sleep deprived or something.

The other girl started to explain about her parents. Akina's jaw dropped. They were so similar! Except, Cassie was a Ravenclaw, of course. But when Cassie mentioned that Akina was a Gryffindor, Akina looked away, sadness and jealousy written all over her face. Everyone Akina had talked to knew that Akina's intelligence had somehow landed herself in Gryffindor, a house with the complete opposite of her characteristics. "Yeah. I am. Sure, we can be friends."

Cassie looks at the girl. The Gryffindor girl is quite pretty, and friendly. 'Akina Briarwood...' she repeats the girl's name. 'Nice name. It sounds very pretty. I always wished a more sophisticated, and elegant name. I like your name Akina. She should be proud of it shouldn't you?' Cassie looks at the girl. The name makes her even more beautiful.

'Oh, reading all night? You love reading too? I do love reading, I love it badly! Perhaps we can meet sometimes in the library and read together! But Aki, if you are okay with this nickname, all night is perhaps not good for your health. You seem a bit too tired and sleepy, really, honestly I would have to advise you to sleep more.' Cassie tries not to sound as a professional, but she feels it very important to state the importance of sleep.

When Cassie is talking about houses, she sees the sadness on Akina's face. Clearly, she does not want to be in Gryffindor. Perhaps Ravenclaw? Many people wants to be here in Ravenclaw, which is clear to Cassie. 'Great! I would love to have a new friend! Aki, I actually once longed to be a Gryffindor when I was younger, you know, I feel being tagged brave is very cool, and courage is very important when dealing in most problems. You must be proud of your house, right?'

Akina watched Cassie say her name and blinked. Then Cassie asked her if she were proud of it or not. Akina looked away. "U-Um. Maybe my first name, a bit, yeah. But my last name really doesn't go with it. My ancestor changed his last name to Briarwood. I'd like to change my last name, but I don't know if I could really do that..," Akina muttered. She thanked her.

When Akina said that she spent all night reading, she was actually exaggerating. She had actually slept for three hours, not to mention the three hours were before she fell asleep. But she did not expect such a health-advisor-like outburst. Akina told Cassie that she was just exaggerating. "And yeah, I'm okay with Aki, most people call me that," she told Cassie.

Then Cassie said something that really shocked her. She said that she wanted to be a Gryffindor. "What?! Ravenclaw is the best house ever," Akina half-shouted. She clapped her hand over her mouth. She had just spilled her deepest secret. "U-um, I mean, I, actually prefer to be titled smart & clever than brave & courageous." Akina tried to pretend that she totally did not spill a secret that she had literally not told anyone.

Cassie gives out a large and warm smile as she listens to the girl's talking. 'Your last name is pretty, as I think, it is perfect, very lovely indeed. However, there is one way you can change it. You can find a nice husband who loves you and matches you, and if he has a nice last name that you really like, you get to change into that name. However, you see, my last name does not match with my first name either. Jiang, as it sounds, is a bit too manlike, don't you think? But sometimes, you just feel that it is a symbol of your family, when others see two Briarwoods, they know that you must be relatives. This especially helps when you are homesick. And, as for me, I would rather keep my last name. I am the only child in the family. If I changed my family name, there might be no Jiang wizards.' Cassie pauses, waiting for Aki to make a reply.

'Ravenclaw is the best house?' Cassie smiles. 'Thanks for your nice words. Let me tell you a story. I once met another Gryffindor girl. She told me that she always wanted to be in Ravenclaw, but weeks later, she told me that her Gryffindor friends are so kind and helpful, being labeled brave is so cool, she thinks that everything is the best arrangement. She wouldn't be so happy at all if she was in Ravenclaw. See? Evertything is the best arrangement, Aki, you will soon get to know that if you were in another house, you wouldn't have met so many friends. And soon, you will find Gryffindor as your second home. By then, you will not like Ravenclaw that much.'
