Can We Be Friends?
and if I could give you the moon, I would give you the moon
@Catriona Prescott ★ 07/10/2019 ★ For the Campbells, family vacations were the best, and, apart from Christmas, the most anticipated holiday of the year. The tradition was usually to go to the beach, visit family, travel to Japan or go camping. Minai, the mother of the family and only pure blood, would leave her wizarding traditions mostly aside and enjoy travelling alongside her muggle husband and the children they shared together and spend some quality time as a family before both their daughters, Olive and Madeline, were expected to go back to school. The plan this year was to go to the beach first, stay there for a whole day until night time, which is when they would pack and leave to stay at a hotel before travelling to visit the Japanese, magical side of the family.
As it was expected for a toddler and a teen, both Olive and Madeline were beaming of excitement this summer. They were so excited, that Madeline would not shut up about getting a tan for what seemed like a month, and a blue-eared, excited metamorphmagus Olive could not leave her damn suitcase alone, for she kept packing and unpacking her luggage as she constantly came up with new ideas on how to spend her time with Maddie, or what Barbie to pack, or whether she should bring her toy broom with her or not.
Leonard, the father, was very passive about the whole thing. Yes, of course he was excited but he kept getting slightly nauseous whenever he saw his daughter constantly display her enthusiasm with her constant magical appearance morphing, and he kept leaving the bedroom whenever his wife would use her wand to constantly pack and unpack and move around things. Yes, at this point, it was normal for him. He had been married to a witch for years, for gods sake! But it was too much magic everywhere for him, and he often needed a small mental break before seeing how easily they could all manage to do things magically, unlike him, getting constantly tired manually preparing.
Minai, the mother, was extremely stressed. The Aoki’s, or, well, her family, were not exactly the kindest of people. They were traditional pure bloods, and Minai had been the only one in the family to marry a Muggle, and she was considered a disgrace to the whole blood lineage. She really did need this beach break to mentally prepare for their visit to Japan afterwards. Maybe she could discuss and prepare her husband before facing her whole family once more, in case it occurred to him to say something out of place that might generate a problem.
Madeline, Olive’s sister, was equally as excited as Olive. She was fifteen and had finished her fourth year at Hogwarts greater than ever, with a few duelling losses and a few duelling wins which she had excitedly bragged to her whole family about. Even though it had been an awesome year overall, she kept claiming that she needed a break, and this July, going to the beach was exactly what she needed at that point. She was not as panicked about visiting her pure blood side of the family as her mother, for they absolutely adored her in every aspect (probably except her mixed blood status), so this summer was the last of her worries indeed.
Finally the day of the voyage to Eastbourne came, and of course there was a fuss here and there. Olive would not stop crying over the smallest things, Madeline was taking too long to get ready and Leonard kept needing to drive back to the house because he kept forgetting his most important things like his lighter, ID, wallet, etc. Minai got so tired at that point that she decided to use a summoning spell against Leonards wishes, until, finally they reached the beach and Minai was able to relax.
They had decided to go to the Grand Parade Main Resort Beach in Eastbourne this time. The problem was, they had not anticipated it to be crowded with muggles, and when Leonard finally found a parking spot, Olives mom had to let out a sigh at the realization that she would be unable to use magic with all these non magical people around. Still, they tried searching as hard as they could for somewhere that could possibly be without muggles in the area. They weren’t completely lucky, but slightly less sad when they found somewhere with around 2 or 3 calm people, enjoying their stay at the beach. Minai would still be unable to perform magic but she still showed relief when she was finally far away from the non magical humans.
The Campbells unpacked their things, Minai prepared her barbecue which did not completely convince Olive (a future vegetarian), and Madeline immediately went off with her father to swim in the water. Olive was slightly scared of the massive waves, so she decided to stick with her mother and make a giant sand castle while eating carrots and cucumbers that her mom had prepared as a snack. She calmly started to put sand in her bucket as then dump it and tap with her plastic shovel until it formed the typical sand castle.
The family did all kinds of things that day. The barbecue everyone ate except seven year old Olive (typical), and Madeline took pictures with her sister, which she would later ask her mother to enchant them so that they would move around the frame and she could add them to her photo album with all her cherished moments inside. The family ate, sunbathed, buried themselves in sand and acted like a normal, happy family overall during the rest of the day until sunset.
The orange light of the sun nearing nighttime started to dawn upon the beach, and the family started to watch (Madeline taking pictures eagerly), however, Olive was too bored and tired to care about the sunset. She went off through the beach, not too far away from her family, of course, in search for some source of entertainment.

Can We Be Friends?
| ====CATRIONA PRESCOTT. | @Olive Campbell | godmodding approved== 488== |
This girl was Catriona. Her family's private beach was her haven, because no one ever went there. It was a place where she got to sit and think and do whatever she pleased, and she liked it that away. Because of her family's owning the property, hardly any people could be seen from her thinking spot, at least on most days. Her biggest enemy was tourist season, the summer, when people would flock to her beach to play in the waves or lay on the sand or do whatever it was that they did. Catriona scowled at the thought. At least they knew to stay away, if they could properly read signs.
It was approaching sunset. Catriona could see the last of the rays over the water beginning to disappear. Today felt like a night where she wanted to slip away, so she did. Taking the path through the grove behind her house to the beach, she began to feel even calmer, like she usually did when she was at her thinking spot. She was already feeling much more relieved.
Until she came upon the sight of another girl. At this, she frowned. In her entire seven years of life, no one had ever gotten this close to their manor. The girl had long black hair, but Catriona was unable to see her face because it was bent down, while her hands played with the sand. Though she too found sand rather entertaining, it also meant that she wouldn't get her beach spot to herself, which she did not entirely appreciate. So she would have to keep this short and sweet.
There was something about her that made Catriona intrigued, though. It was another girl her age, and the only girl her age that Catriona had ever interacted with regularly was her twin, Niamh. Her parents didn't let her go out to interact with other people that often, especially when they didn't know them, so Catriona had never really talked to someone like this girl. What if, she didn't know ... she made a friend?
Catriona scoffed at this. Even if she did make something out of her, nothing would come out of it. This girl was probably a Muggle, a nobody, and her parents would never let her to keep talking to someone like this. Best to get it over with already.
With a scorning look in her eyes, Catriona approached the girl. "You're trespassing. This is private property."
