When Zach invited her to duel, Alyssea didn't know what to expect. Did she have to sign any forms saying she'd be coming in soon? Did she have to let anyone know she was coming in, especially professors? Who would be running the duel to make sure nobody got too hurt?

Luckily, Zach took the lead for most of the preparation, which left Alyssea to practice her spells and think up a strategy. Many questions ran through her head about the format of the duel. She had watched the summer duels, but being in one was a different experience. She wasn't a spectator anymore.

After classes, she returned to the Hufflepuff dorms to drop off her items and change into more comfortable clothes. When she went looking for some sneakers, she frowned. They weren't there. The only shoes left were her heels that she reserved for more formal occasions.

Oh no, she thought to herself. Did she mess up her instructions to the cleaning elves? Did she misplace them somewhere? She didn't have time to go looking since Zach would be expecting her soon. She took the heels, thankful that they weren't tall ones and prayed the pearls would stay on her. She didn't need to slip on pearls during her debut in duelling.

Every step towards the Duelling Club was nothing short of an embarrassment for Alyssea, but she ventured on. When she arrived, Zach was there already waiting.

She smiled and nodded to greet him. "Hey, sorry if I'm late." She hoped he wouldn't notice the heels.

More and more people seem to be giving dueling a shot while some wanted to get a couple of practices done to keep themselves from going rusty. Raizel had been doing some practices herself although only against some dummies as she is trying out a couple of new spells that she just learned through reading. It was when she was approached by a familiar Ravenclaw, asking to moderate for a practice duel against someone who wanted to give dueling a try. As someone as helpful as her, she agreed, the reason why she is here in the dueling club at this time, waiting for the duelists to arrive.

She was sitting on top of one of the piste that's currently free in a criss-cross position, eyes on the wooden door leading towards the dueling room. A grin formed on her face as Zach arrived and then soon after followed by a Hufflepuff that she hadn't met before or maybe, she had came across somewhere in the castle but couldn't remember. Remembering names isn't her strongest suit along with her sense of direction. “Heyyo!” Raizel made her presence known to the two with her usual greeting, standing up from the piste and looking over to the two. "I'll be the one looking over this duel between you too. The name is Raizel Voltrouz, Gryffindor." She introduced herself, mostly to the new person since she already knows Zach and Zach knows her.

"You could take your place now and the duel will-" the Gryffindor cut herself off as she noticed the heels that the Hufflepuff was wearing. Oh hohoho, now this will be fun and interesting. Remembering Lea's duel against Winona, if the Hufflepuff is just as nimble as her senior, it would be amazing to see her dodge spells on heels or even perform a backflip. "And the duel will begin." She continued, the smile on her face never fading. It's strange that she's the one feeling so pumped up when it's not even her that's dueling.

Raizel waited for the two to get into position, giving them enough time to get some interactions between them before raising her hand. She looked at both of the duelists and then. "Start!"

A thick fog quickly enveloped the whole area as a smokescreen spell left Alyssea's spell. A well-casted Fumos and Raizel couldn't see well on what's happening which is a bummer as she would like to see Alyssea dodge while wearing heels, do nimble movements. Zach on the other hand, before the thick fog could even take hold of the battlefield, had managed to send out a bubble producing charm directed at the Hufflepuff girl although Alyssea was on high alert, saw the spell coming for her and successfully moving out of the way before it could hit her, missing her just a couple of inches away.

Now that’s an interesting start.

Zach opened his eyes and stood up immediately. "No, you aren't late. Let's wait for Raizel," he said to Alyssea. However, just right after he finished his words, Raizel appeared. "Hi! Thank you, Raizel," he said with a smile.

Raizel instructed them to take their place. But she stopped her words in the middle. Zach couldn't help but also looked at the direction of Raizel's sight. His eyes widened immediately as he saw what the Hufflepuff girl wearing as her shoewear, a pair of heels with the pearls as the ornaments. "Is it safe to wear? Especially in this duel?" he thought. He winced to the girl and said, "Be careful when you're about to dodge the spells." Then he added, "And have fun," with a smile. He took his place in the other side of the stage and prepared his stance. He was thinking for some seconds about what action he should do as an opening. Restricted her movement would be a good, especially when she was using such the heels.

Raizel startes the duel. Zach cast Bubble Producing Charm to Alyssea. Surprisingly, she managed to dodge. Yes, with her heels. Zach witnessed that and gasped just before the room filled with the thick fog. He panicked for a second and calmed after he could sense his surroundings. "Hey. It's not that bad," he said. He forgot that he found this abilities when he went to spiritual camp hosted by his church. The atmosphere of the surroundings, the temperature, the sound of Alyssea's heels, he could sense them all.

Zach fixed his stance and thought again about what should he do next, casting offensive spell, debuffing his opponent, or maybe something else. He had decided his next action and grabbed his wand tightly. He just hope his action would be success this time.

Zach stood up as she walked closer to him. "No, you aren't late. Let's wait for Raizel."

Alyssea nodded, but as she turned to watch the door, it opened and a girl walked in. Alyssea waved. "Hello!"

“Heyyo! I'll be the one looking over this duel between you too. The name is Raizel Voltrouz, Gryffindor,” she said.

Alyssea nodded. "Nice to meet you. I'm Alyssea Brown, Hufflepuff."

Though, she was surprised by Raizel's age. Considering this was an unofficial duel, that was probably the reason for not getting a prefect or a duelling captain to look over it. Still, she mentally applauded Raizel. Perhaps Zach knew her already and that's why she was here.

"You could take your place now and the duel will-"

Raizel suddenly stopped mid-sentence and Alyssea already knew what happened. Her face burned. Okay, yes, she should've just worn her school shoes. But they had been scratching at the back of her foot and it would've probably broken the skin if she wore it some more. You can dance in heels, she reasoned.

"Be careful when you're about to dodge the spells," Zach said.

Alyssea nodded. "Yeah, I'm gonna hope I don't break my ankles," she said with a light laugh. She was praying she didn't break an ankle since walking around the castle to get to classes without an injury was already tedious. Adding an injury on top of that would just add salt to the wound.

Thankfully, Raizel continued before they could interrogate her on her fashion choices. "And the duel will begin."

Alyssea followed Zach's actions as she stood on the opposite side of the room. What should her first move be? She never thought she'd actually duel seriously, and the year had only just begun, so she was limited to spells from First Year. Which, in terms of what would be safe for a duel, wasn't very many.

Maybe she needed to hide herself. Yeah, that seemed like a good start. Since she was vulnerable with heels, she'd have to try something different.

Once Raizel signalled the start of the duel, Zach sent a spell flying. With wide eyes, she jumped to the side, landing in a wide stance on the balls of her feet. The heels were only to help her maintain her balance on a slanted platform, and they would be very loud with any step she took.

Alyssea cast a cloud of smoke over the battlefield. In hindsight, the spell was probably not a good idea now that she couldn't see, but she hoped that it would hinder Zach's accuracy.

OOC Note: Alyssea wouldn't know about Zach's ability IC, so that's my reasoning for my lack of judgement

Dueling while wearing heels, that's something that Raizel sure wasn't expecting to see. While she doesn't have any experience on what it feels like to wear heels, just looking at them is enough to make her feel uncomfortable. She'd prefer clothing that gives her enough freedom when it comes to movements, especially when she finds herself in situations that require it. Alyssea does seem like she has enough experience on moving on heels, as shown when she dodged that Bubble Producing charm from Zach. She might actually pull this off and Raizel would want to see what she could do.

While she couldn't see what was happening due to the smokescreen that Alyssea had summoned, she could tell that Zach seems to be doing fine despite the smoky atmosphere. His silhouette can be seen from where she is and so she began observing him, or at least, tried to since she couldn't exactly see what he's doing. Facing off against others in unofficial duels is great practice but so is moderating. She gets to observe the duelists after all, learn their strats, see their skills.

The pause between the two was only a brief one as both of them were eager to keep this duel going. Spells were shot, Alyssea going for a Rictusempra but the smokescreen had made it hard for her to aim, the spell going way off its mark. Zach, however, doesn't seem to be bothered by the smokescreen which kind of amazed Raizel, especially when his spell was on point compared to Alyssea's.

Alyssea didn't just stand there though, no, she did try to avoid it and she was so close to moving out of its way if it wasn't for a misstep on her part. Perhaps dueling in heels isn't a great idea. Still, she almost avoided it. Just an unfortunate round for her. To make things worse, the spell that Zach shot was the dancing-feet spell and Alyssea would soon find herself under it and dancing a tango with an imaginary partner and music.

The smoke didn't bother him. "Tarantellagra!" Zach cast the spell towards his opponent. At the same time, he also heard Alyssea cast a spell, a Tickling Charm. Luckily, the spell passed him. He shivered when he imagine what would happen if the spell hit him. Everyone said laughing is good. But in duelling, Zach didn't think so, especially when the spell made the target laughing uncontrollably.

Zach wondered whether his spell was successful or not. However, the sound of a footwear could be heard by him. After experiencing competitive dance for some years before Hogwarts, Zach was sured it was the sound of the tango rhythm and it was his second favorite dance after paso doble. But Zach was kind of glad about it. It meant that his spell hit Alyssea successfully. It's such a shame that he couldn't see the dance clearly because of the fog. It would be great to see his opponent dancing tango with her fancy heels.

Now he must be focused again. He thought about what move he should make for the next round. With Alyssea condition, what was the best move he should make to give him more opportunities that also made the match interesting. He had decided about it and was ready to implement his thought.

Her own spell had missed since she didn't hear Zach laughing. Bummer. It would've been a miracle if it had hit. Alyssea was hoping for pure luck and timing. Dodging Zach's bubbles in heels was already a miracle in itself. Once the smokescreen went down, she'd be out in the open again, but her aim would be much, much better.

But when Zach fired his next spell, Alyssea could feel the dread dumped on her shoulders. It had been the first spell she had ever learnt in First Year, and while she did enjoy dancing, she was not prepared for it to be used on her.

The spell hit her and she felt herself stumble until her feet got their footing and started moving. The rhythm was a bit fast for her, considering her only experience in dancing was musical theatre and some aspects of waltz for a duet. Footwork was simply not her style. Her heels were unbearably loud. The spell would certainly make dodging hard.

But while she found herself already on the losing end of the duel, she enjoyed the movements. Maybe trying competitive dancing was something to do when the Christmas holidays came about. That was far away, but still.

Sounds of tapping can be heard as Alyssea’s rhythmic dance continues, her heels not only making it harder to dodge but also giving her position away within this smoky battlefield. It might’ve been a good idea conjuring up a cover in this duel, only if your opponent couldn’t properly see as well which isn’t the case in this one since Zach’s previous spell had hit her.

Raizel was tempted to blow this smoke just to see what’s going on but that won’t make her a good moderator now would it so the silhouettes of the duellists will suffice for now until it let up. It seems like in the next round, both Zach and Alyssea decided to continue their spell pelting at each other, signified by the flash of lights from what the Gryffindor shall assume as their wand.

She couldn’t tell what spells were used based on their light since some have the same color when casted. Luckily for her, the both of them spoke out their incantation and not to mention, their effects are visible even though Raizel is just seeing them as shadows in the smokescreen.

Call it luck or miracle for despite her vision mostly being obscured by the smokescreen, Alyssea’s spell found its mark this time. While the spell wasn’t as good as the earlier once, it still did its job. A strong Knockback Jinx hit Zach just right on his chest, enough to push him back just a little bit but it sure felt like being punched with how strong that spell is. A popular spell among the duellists that one is.

Laughter soon filled the duelling club but not from the audience but from Alyssea herself. A tickling sensation creeped up on the Hufflepuff girl, sending her into an uncontrollable laughter as the Tickling Charm took hold of her. Dancing while laughing… not a great combination as it’s probably making her seem like a Psychopath.

“Ooooh, unlucky.” Raizel commented, snickering at the results of this round, especially about what just happened to Alyssea. In a way, she does feel bad about the girl but she’s not gonna lie, that was entertaining in a way. Sad that she couldn’t see it properly.

A strong force hit his chest just after he finished casting Tickling Charm towards his opponent. "Ouch!" The boy was pushed back a little bit. It hurted his chest so much. Zach was amazed by Alyssea about how the spell still could hit him despite of the thick fog.

Laughter could be heard on the other side of the piste. He knew for sure that his Tickling Charm hit her successfully. Once again, it was too bad that he couldn't see her dance clearly. Only the silhouette of the girl could be seen. Dancing tango while laughing in a thick fog, Zach believes that Alyssa would definitely get the role of a dramatic and sinister antagonist if she joined theatre club. Anyway, was there any theatre club in this school? Zach couldn't remember it because there were ton of clubs here.

He still could feel the pain but he must be focused again. He took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly, one of the ways from his uncle to calm the mind when he felt pain. After regained the focus, Zach grabbed his wand tightly, ready to do what he was just strategized in his mind. "Hope this will be a success," he mumbled.
