Studying Fiction PV Ruby Cazares Closed

Elena shuffled upwards and started to grab some of her favourite books off of the pile beside her, "I have a couple of books here, Spellslinger is a very good one, Dungeon Run works well, I just finished Poison Study. Oh! The Innkeeper series is like, A Plus, I love that one, and last but not least we have, City of Bones!"

Elena put the little stack near Ruby, it was most of the books she kept around for reference, a lot of long book series sometimes needed a couple of references, but she was more than happy to let Ruby take some of them. Elena could probably remember them anyway, "Sorry if it's a lot I just really love reading."

"I tended to gain it by eavesdropping, my information was usually checked by me, and I wasn't try to sow dissent or anything. It's just that I needed some extra money at the time, but that's far behind me now. I'm now just your friendly neighbourhood orchestral badass, also a cheerleader, and I'm planning on signing up for Quidditch. Seeker or chaser, honestly I'd be happy with either." Elena grinned, "So what kind of thing are you interested in? I heard there's a ballet club starting up as well if you're into that."

Ruby smiled as Elena gathered the books, and glanced at each one as they were placed beside her. When Elena apologized for the amount, Ruby shook her head quickly. "Don't apologize for it! Reading's good, and I'm not overwhelmed by it. I like reading too, but I've been rather busy until now and I'm looking for some new material. This should be perfect. I'm glad you like to read so much."

Ruby contemplated Elena's next comment. She frowned. "Orchestral, so you're musical… why sell information to gain money if you have so many other talents that you could probably use to get more money? Was that really the only way you could earn enough money?" When she decided that a couple of questions were sufficient enough to start with, paired with the fact that it wasn't easy to answer many more questions at a time decently, Ruby moved on. She laughed. "Friendly neighborhood orchestral badass? That's certainly an interesting title. I like flying a lot myself and I'm also interested in Quidditch, but I might need to become more involved in it even as a spectator before I consider playing it, although it would be super fun. I don't entirely know what I'm interested in… but on the subject of ballet, I did do that for a little while when I was little, but the time's passed and I'm not so sure about it now. I'm willing to try new things though, even if there's something I haven't heard of before, so I guess that counts for something?"

The girl was asking all the right questions, right down to why she needed to sell information to get the funds she had needed. Very perceptive and very clever, except she forgot one of the main problems with busking at a school.

"Well you see, the problem is that I actually make a lot more money off of a service that nobody else can provide. Especially when there's so many talented kids in the school that wouldn't ask for payment in exchange for the music. There are probably other ways I could've earned money but none that would get it in the quantity needed at the time." Elena heard the thunder sound a bit closer, she started to consider breaking curfew to sleep near a window. Then immediately dismissed it, she wasn't risking detention for a whim.

Elena grinned, "It's the best title I have, unless you count Puck, but I'm starting to prefer Elena. There's something nice about a friend saying it, or just call me Jones. I'll answer to that too."

"And for the record, the willingness trying new things is certainly a good character trait, it means you're automatically cooler than a lot of people in this school. I heard this other school Ilvermorny has a house called Thunderbird, where all the adventurers go. It's nice to meet other adventurers, I think that in a way their house system makes more sense. What you are versus what you seek, in a way. What do you think?"

"I see what you mean. Many people will offer their praise for music but not money." Ruby frowned slightly. "How much were you earning? Was it enough to make the administration notice at all? Did any of the staff members know?"

When the sound of thunder got closer, Ruby found a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. There was something about thunderstorms that satisfied her, soothed her, thrilled her, and scared her all at the same time. Right now, she was leaning more to the positive side of responses to it. She was safe in the castle, and it was still quite far away. The gentle rumbling, or at least, that was how she saw it, made her feel more at ease.

"Puck? As in, the fairy of trickery?" Ruby asked for clarification, frowning ever so slightly, but also smiling. "I like Elena too. It's pretty."

Elena's last comment made her smile widely. "Ilvermorny… the magical school in America? I think it's certainly interesting, but isn't there also a house for scholars? What if you're a scholar and an adventurer? I agree that it's nice to meet other adventurers though. I'm always up for having a good time and an adventure, I find it's quite a good way to just let go a bit."

Elena shrugged, "I think Griffith knew, other than that I have no idea. I earned quite a bit actually, my friend Quinn gave me a whole galleon for next to no information. I just regret giving it to the people that were pretending to be my friends."

"The trickster spirit, exactly yes! I still sort of like it but now I feel like they're different people. Puck is the cocky street kid with too many secrets, the one who wouldn't hesitate to leave someone behind. Elena is the girl that loves to play music with too much of a heart, that would kill to protect her friends, and that doesn't care where you come from. Mad grins and blue hair or sparkling eyes and singing. You know?" Elena paused, "Sorry, that was a bit weird, sometimes I just like voicing my thoughts. It doesn't really make much sense though."

"An adventurer scholar? You make a good point, although I think that it would depend on which one they felt more drawn to. I'd be an adventurer, even though I spend the majority of time in the library, it is nice in here though. That's a good question, if you could be anything in the world what would it be?

"I see… would you give the information to just anyone?"

Ruby smiled at Elena's next comment. She liked the descriptions of how the other Slytherin was feeling, and she had an idea of what it felt like to have a personality change that big. “No, it totally makes sense. I like it, especially the comparison about the grins and hair to the eyes and singing.”

“Yeah, that makes sense… I guess that gives you more of an idea of who you are, but most 11 year olds don't know that for themselves, even if they think they do…” She had to pause to think about Elena's question, but she couldn't decide on an answer. “I really don't know, sorry. What about you?”

Ruby was interested in what Elena's answer would be, but the question was so open-ended without much specification that it was hard for Ruby to answer. What would I want to be if I could be anything? I'm not sure if I entirely understand the question…

Ruby wondered what the time was. She wanted to see Elena again, and she liked talking to her, but it felt like it was starting to get a little bit late and she had some stuff she probably needed to do.
