BROOM RACING SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR SPRING 2023
SPECTATOR THREAD FOR BROOM RACING
SLYTHERIN vs GRYFFINDOR - SPRING 2023
As the spring race was beginning drops of rain began sprinkling from the sky. With each passing moment the sky was getting grayer. With the sky holding it's dark grey hue, it even made the grass look gloomier.Date: May 27th
Time: 2:00 pm
Weather: Rain
Though the weather was pretty gloomy it was refreshing for a spring race to be the physical embodiment of spring.
Rain was a necessity for the flowers to bloom for this beautiful holiday, it's just a shame that it had to start raining on the day of the race.
The short race almost seemed as if it was prepared with the weather in mind, though that was very unlikely it is what it seemed to be. Though the race was shorter than most before it, that did not mean that any of the racers from either team should underestimate the intensity of it. It would be a difficult race for sure, especially with the rain seeming to get heavier as racers began to line up.
The second year Broom Racing Captain for Ravenclaw, Foster Jordan would be the one to moderate this race. He was a bit nervous to moderate his first race, but still stood with confidence trying not to show it. He wore a smile on his face ready to prove himself that he was a good choice for captain.
He stood waiting for all the racers to line up. He then glanced to the spectators and gave them a gentle smile. He felt bad that it wasn't the best day to watch a race but he was excited and he knew they would be in for quite a treat and he knew they likely would get so involved in the game that they wouldn't mind.

┏ ┓----- It had been roughly a month since June had attended Avery’s duel. He could make her out in a crowd, for the brilliant blonde hair shone like a beacon in certain lights, as it did today.
Avery was returning the favour, he felt. She had seen him win, rather pathetically, as his opponents were doe-eyed dolts; which only made him feel embarrassed, perhaps showing face here would help his case. His plaid check coat came in handy, for it had already started raining before he arrived where the other spectators had gathered. He couldn’t help but loathe the wet north, or wetter north, but perhaps as the race went on he’d get into it a bit; June had brought all the enthusiasm to his duel…
When he spotted her, he nodded to himself; at least he was in the right place. Colin was there too, that oddball that was covered head to toe in curious scarring; that was almost as feral and wild as he was. He was one to watch, and this was the perfect chance. Perhaps observing both of them would provide him with some decent insight into their aptitude. Was there more to uncover? Were they all boisterous poise? Either way, it was good to size them both up, to get the idea of their ability. - Merlin knew he hoped they weren’t doe-eyed dolts.
He’d throw himself into the spirit of things, patting aggressively on his Slytherin housepride scarf before calling out to the racers:
”Come on Basilisks! Batter them!” He gave, fist pumping twice, encouragingly.
Before long the game had started and a maelstrom of spells erupted from the racers, prompting a reserved: ‘Woah’ from the slender framed boy. Broom racing? Somebody had cocked up there, he thought. And his interest in it grew, as the teams raced into their first hurdle; a foggy mire.

BROOM RACING SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR SPRING 2023
The race was getting 'real' as the kids would put it. Spells were being slung, certain students were playing dirty and the cleverest among them were even getting away with it. Bobbing and weaving around other racers and dangerous obstacles, the racers would make their way towards the finish line. Neck and neck both Slytherin and Gryffindor would make the best of their rivalry with elbows being thrown and wands being brandished.
Only... something strange happened. The finish line did not look right, it was familiar enough. A cheering crowd, the Hogwarts grounds that every student riding a broom knew like the back or their hand by this point. It looked fine, it just was not getting closer. Or was it? Maybe it was getting further away. No, it was exactly where it belonged.
To either side, again it was 'right' but still wrong. As if there was a haze. No, not a haze, s0me sort of shadow. An echo of what really should have been there. And SPLAT.
One by one, the Hogwarts students would find themselves crashed into the trunks of trees, into the ground immediately below them, into ne another. The spectators would simply see a harrowing scene of chaos - students seemingly turning around abruptly and driving directly into an obstacle, into one another, veering off the track and into an obstacle that was not even a part of the course.
Professors, Heads of House and varied adult staff (unnamed to avoid godmodding) would be shocked by this strange and unintended turn of events. Not that broom racing as a 'gentle sport' but this incident would leave every student dazed and injured (also the Nurse's problem). Students (also unnamed) might feel compelled to dash towards the chaos, compelled to help a friends. They would be left staring off into space once they got close, there was something in the air it would seem. They would simply fall over, the harm to them minimal comparatively.
And from here, a rescue operation would be required.
It would be @Maya Galim, Professor of Muggle Studies whose quick thinking would allow a salvage operation. Windy Spell (Ventus) would push away the unseen, dire magical miasma. [Permission Granted for this godmod, permission granted to Maya to post in this thread and/or the spectator thread.] The effect would not be immediate, there was no visual indicator that this would even solve the issue, however after about a minute, the dazed students would recover. Those who ran into this unseen miasma whilst rising their broom at top speed, they would not be moving. Some potentially crushed beneath the weight of a part giant. Others suffering from varied traumatic injuries they did not and could not brace themselves for.
With no way to determine a winning house because there was no racer left standing, both were rewarded a win.

For those in this thread (I guess just you Avery), you saw them just freeze up and crash. You can run in or stay back and watch the other students run forward and do something. Since you're the only one that posted in this thread (amazing timing), you're the only one eligible for this experience. Feel free to help and face plant or try to do something else.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.
