Finally last class of the day is over and it's officially Friday!! Madi thinks to herself as she packs up her things in the Greenhouse after her class. It was now two weeks into her second year and she was loving it, as was Clover, her new kitten. Majority of the time Madison let her sleep in her robe pocket, though for some classes she left Clover in her dorm room, since she had her own room it was easy and Clover had toys, food, water and her own bed to sleep on so all was well. Madi had washed her hair the night before using the Marshmallow and Vanilla Shampoo and Conditioner that were from the shop Simon's sister Clara owned. She had done her hair in two braids in the morning before breakfast so they were still neat.
As Madison was packing up, her mind started thinking about what had happened over the summer. The fact that she had acknowledged that she had feelings for Simon, her best friend since their first day of their first year, Madi hadn't been able to think of much else, though Clover was helpful in terms of keeping Madi's mind focused, along with her classes and homework, though her mind fluttered off like a Butterfly sometimes and started thinking about Simon again. It had been so nice getting to see him on the train, especially since they'd been owling constantly and she even introduced him to her new kitten Clover the day after the Sorting Ceremony. Clover had taken to him well even though she was tiny, but Clover slept in Madi's lap most of the time that she was hanging out with Simon.
After finishing, she waited in the Greenhouse for her best friend Simon, they'd arranged to meet in the Greenhouse after her class and when she saw him, she smiled and hugged him "Hey Si, I just finished packing up from my class, I'm very excited that it's Friday though" Madi says with a smile as they let go of the hug and she blushes.

Two weeks had passed since they got back at Hogwarts. While the first days of wand-waving and spell-casting had been relieving and mostly fun, reality had quickly caught up with the second years. Hard work, challenging spells, trying to gain house points while avoiding losing some. Additionally, Simon seemed to be more distracted this year. Whenever he was about to perform magic in classes with the Hufflepuffs, he became even more aware of Madison's presence in the room. Deep inside, he knew that he had nothing to prove, but another part of him was afraid of making a fool out of himself.
Madison occupied his mind a lot these days. His fellow Ravenclaws often caught him daydreaming in the common room during the evenings. He was also more restless and easily annoyed when he was not with Madison. However, they still spent a lot of time with each other, either hanging out in the corridors or wandering about the castle or the grounds. This year, they were accompanied by Madison's new pet as well, a small kitten called Clover. Very curious, very clingy. Simon's new robes almost looked worn-out because of all the burls from its razor sharp claws, but he did not mind. Clover's lively presence was very welcome and they took turns in holding her or entertaining her whenever they were hanging out. Even his owl Hoax had taken a liking in the kitten and almost treated her as a new baby of the flock, sometimes guarding her while she was sleeping and sometimes nibbling at her when she was being annoying or doing something she was not supposed to do.
Simon opened the door to the greenhouses and breathed the humid air, enjoying the floral scents of the magical plants. Madison had just had Herbology class. Since he was about to hang out with a couple of Ravenclaws in the common room later that night, he and Madison had planned to meet directly after school. At the far end in one of the greenhouses, he could se Madison packing her bag. She had her hair in two braids that ended in curly ponytails. Simon felt the familiar rush of butterflies in his stomach, as he so often did whenever he spotted her from afar or their bodies touched.
"Hi, Madi," he said when approaching her and gave her a hug. "Yeah, finally weekend. I'm looking forward to our excursion tomorrow! It's gonna be nice to have a day off." He picked up a small leaf from her hair and let it fall to the floor. "So, how did Herbology go?"

Madi smiled at Simon and blushed, she knew Simon was good looking but up close he looked even better. Madi had noticed that Simon was good looking, she knew it from the somersaults her tummy did and from the way her mind went fuzzy, thinking of nothing else except him, even during classes, more times than Madi knew was right but she liked him, as more than just friends, she knew that. She took a deep breath as he took the leaf out of her hair and giggled, "Herbology was super fun, we learnt about the different wand woods and the types of properties each of them possess, plus the types of wizards and witches each wand wood tends to favour more" Madi said in reply. "I'm looking forward to it as well Si, i've missed our excursions" Madi said as she put her books down and walked around, making sure all the plants were ok in her row, before turning back and walking towards Simon.
"Clover really likes you, though i'm not sure I can say the same about Hoax, I'm not sure she liked his nibbles, she stayed in my pocket all day after that" Madi said with a giggle.
Madi had her left hand on the table, the one with the scar on it, and was standing with her back towards Simon as she focused on her plant. Her scar wasn't really hurting much these days, in fact over the summer and whenever she was around Simon, it barely hurt at all. But when he wasn't there, it hurt her more, as if the loss of not having Simon around her had made it hurt more

@Madison Bennett“Nice. I think Herbology will be even more fun this year, from what I’ve heard from older students.” He looked around the room and took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air. “Can't believe we don't come here more often. This place is highly underrated. Everytime I'm in here it's like my pulse goes down and I can think more clearly." He smiled. "I'm babbling now, aren't I?"
Simon brushed off the edge of the table opposite Madison and leaned against it with his legs crossed.
"Clover really likes you, though I'm not sure I can say the same about Hoax. I'm not sure she liked his nibbles. She stayed in my pocket all day after that."
"Aww, I'm sorry. I'm sure he's just trying to take her under his wings and teach her how to behave and stuff, like dogs do with their puppies. Maybe he thinks he is her mother or something. I wouldn't be surprised," said Simon jokingly and chuckled. "Either way, I can tell that Hoax likes her. Did you notice that they fell asleep beside each other yesterday? He only does that when he feels safe and comfortable."
Inevitably, his mind wandered to the days and nights in Kensington, where he had been staying with Madison during the Christmas break and on her birthday in July. They had baked cookies, played boardgames, taken pictures with the magical camera she got from him and they had slept beside each other... In the same bed.
It was getting warmer. Simon took off his robe and put it on the table. He rolled up his sleeves and loosened his tie a bit. After all, it was a completely different climate in the greenhouses as compared to the cold and dry air inside the castle. Soon his fringe was about to become curly because of all the moist. It was the same in the Dungeons during Potions class.
Madison turned around to her plants. He observed her braids, her bare neck. Her skin was still tanned after the summer and even though he could not feel her scent at this distance, he knew exactly what she smelled like. Sweet vanilla, and a hint of strawberry from her face mist. Two months ago, she had snuggled up to him when they were about to sleep and he had inhaled her scent all night. It had been imprinted on his memory ever since.
Simon went over to her, standing behind her and looking over her shoulder. His eyes wandered to the mysterious scar on her hand that was in the shape of the Aquila star constellation. Gently, he placed his hand on hers and caressed her skin with his thumb.
"How is your scar, by the way?" he asked in a low voice. "You haven't said anything about it in a long time."

Madi giggled and nodded "A little but you're ok Si, and yeah I noticed that they did that, it was very cute. I understand what you mean by that, I think we should come here more often, it's nice and calming in here" Madi says in reply.
Even though Madi had her back to Simon, she could smell that he was behind her, the scent of his cologne was make those butterflies in her tummy get even crazier, and then when he touched her hand with his and caressed her skin with his thumb, Madi mustered every bit of strength she had not to turn around, because if she did right this second, she knew she'd go all shy and nervous. She composed herself and smiled, responding to Simon's question, It's ok, it rarely hurts these days, thanks for asking" Madi says. She looks up at Simon, his hand still on hers and, as they intertwine their fingers, their lips touch and the fireworks that were inside Madi's head went off like crazy. She was kissing her best friend and she enjoyed it a lot, she hoped that this sealed their feelings for each other.
As they kissed, in the background Madi could hear other students approaching the greenhouses and suddenly, their lips left each others and the greenhouse fell silent. Madi took a second and, brushing some hair behind her ear, blushed deeply and said "We should go, I think there are other students coming, I'll see you tomorrow Ori" she said, hugging him as her mind races over what just happened, before smiling at him and going back inside the castle.

Madi was back in her one person dorm room, where she had been for most of the day after the kiss happened in the Greenhouse between her and Simon. Her mind was racing and her heart was going crazy, they'd just kissed!! Madi had a massive smile on her face as she stroked Clover, who was lying on her pet bed, and she thought about the kiss that had just happened between. That kiss was amazing, i just wish it hadn't ended in that awkward way... Madi thinks to herself as she just lays on her bed with Clover, wondering what tomorrow would be like.

Simon was glad that her scar did not seem to hurt as much as it did last year. These last two weeks, Madison had seemed happier than ever – a condition he himself could relate to. He was just about to respond to her when she turned her head towards him. Their eyes met and he realized they had not been so close to each other's faces since that time in Kensington when they laid in her bed.
Everything happened so fast. Madison leaned in towards his face and then it happened – their lips met... It felt as if his heart was about to explode in his chest. Or like that feeling when you have just swallowed hot chocolate and it burns all the way from your chest down to your stomach. Her lips were wet, soft and cushiony. They lingered on his while they slowly moved together. He had his eyes closed and felt the warm breath from her nose on his upper lip. So this is what kissing feels like...
Voices were heard from the entrance to the castle. Their lips left each other with a smacking sound and they both turned their heads. They were not alone anymore.
"We should go, I think there are other students coming. I'll see you tomorrow, Ori." She gave him a quick hug and smiled, before she picked up her bag and headed towards the exit.

@Madison BennettSimon could not get a word out. He just stood there, feeling numb in his legs, or as if the floor was made out of cotton. What had just happened? Did Madison just kiss me? His lips already missed hers. It all had been over so fast. After he left the greenhouse, he had no memory of how he got back to the common room. It was like he was on auto-pilot, walking and talking, but with no control of his actions. His mind was elsewhere, alternating between what had happened in the greenhouse and what was going to happen tomorrow and in the future to come.
That evening, Simon could not focus on anything at all. His friends had to wave with their hands and snap with their fingers to get their attention. At one point, they even asked if he was feeling alright. Alright? They did not realize he was feeling better than ever. Probably the best he had felt in his whole life. It even triumphed the feeling he had when he first entered Hogwarts. Now he understood why Amortentia was considered such a powerful potion, and that was not even real love. He figured no potion or magic in the whole world could surpass the feeling of falling in love and kissing that person for the first time.
When Simon went to bed that night, he laid on his back with his hands behind his head, starring into the ceiling. Each time he closed his eyes, he felt Madison's lips touch his. That short moment between them repeated itself over and over in his head. Would she really have kissed him if they were just friends? Probably not.
He hoped that things would not be awkward between them when they met the next day, but they would somehow have to address what had happened. Maybe he should send her an owl and ask her to meet him in the Boathouse? That would be a convenient place for some private talking. I'll do that in the morning, he thought and closed his eyes. If things went the way he wanted, he and Madison would not be friends anymore after tomorrow. They would be something else. Something more. And the whole school would soon know about it.
