Henry was sat down by the lake. He had a notebook on his lap, a muggle pen in his hand as he wrote one of the many letters he sends home.

With eight siblings, he's got so many questions to answer them and random facts that he knows they might enjoy, such as telling his 7 year old brother that there's a giant squid in the lake! Henry was secretly already counting down until he could go home to his family as he missed them a lot. They weren't seperated often and according to his stepmums letters, his youngest sister has taken to sleeping in his bed on some nights and apparently his older brother wasn't the best at telling stories like he was.

Henry liked to write, he liked to read and imagine and just..explore his mind. He remembered a lot, as he had an eidetic memory, somethings good and somethings bad. He stored things away until he needed them and when the time was right, he could come out with the most random yet appropriate quotes or facts. Just he hadn't had anyone to tell them to lately.

He was scribbling down fast, his loopy writing going everywhere as he tried to get everything down..until the pen stopped working. The eleven year old groaned and rolled his eyes. Of course, this was when it would run out. Pouting to himself, he'd pocket the useless pen and look at his half finished letter.

"Great going, Reed. Now what are you going to do? Trek all the way to go get a pen just to come back?"

Jumping, Henry'd look over his shoulder at the voice.
He'd smile as he saw it was a girl he was pretty certain he'd seen around his common room. He loved meeting fellow Ravenclaws because it meant there were more people he could sit with at lunch or talk to after curfew.

Henry was quite observant, which was probably why he noticed that the girl had forgotten to bring a hair tie due to her messed up hair, the fact that she looked flustered and her pants were dirty. Henry'd give her a bigger smile to make sure he didn't look hostile or anything whilst quickly scanning through his thoughts. He replied soon after, putting his stuff behind him.

"Hello! Are you alright, did you have a fall?"
He didn't mean to embarrass or call her out but he still wanted to make sure she was okay. Henry was nothing if not a gentleman. This was a necessitity when it came to rules from their father. He had expectations of his boys to be polite and treat everyone with respect, whilst his girls were elegant and well practiced in the arts. They always teased him for being so old-fashioned but it did help to keep their manners up.

"No worries, Rowan."
He'd give her a smile as to try and reassure her that she hadn't interrupted anything.

"I'm Henry. I was just complaining to myself and the giant squid that my pen ran out in the middle of a letter. Were you just going for a walk?"

He'd lean against a nearby tree, looking at her. He noticed that she was actually quite pretty, which was something he could appreciate as she clearly had a nice personality to match. Henry didn't care about looks when it comes to friendships but personalities are a big deal. His mum always tells him to never judge a book by its cover, but Henry feels as if he's at least read the index of this 'book' aka girl by now as she was very polite and nice.

Henry thought back through his memories of the common room, though he only usually went down there to actually get out of the tower rather than to sit there. He usually did his homework in the library, study room or his bed and he didn't exactly have many friends to stay in the common room with so it wasn't his main hang out. Henry was sure he'd seen this girl at the sorting or at least when they were getting room assignments.

Henry'd chuckle at her flusteredness, pleased it wasn't him acting that way for once. He'd glance to his half written letter, temporarily losing his smile as he answered.
"Yeah..It's the first time I've been away from them..ever and I'm really missing them. Bet my dad and stepmum are loving it though, one less kid to look after."
He'd snort, thinking about his parents running themselves ragged over the amount of kids and the small home they live in. It's like constantly trying to clean up where a bombs hit, just for a certain five year old bomb to then destroy it again.

He looked back to her, smile coming back onto his face. Since he didn't have a pen, he figured he could finish it off tonight to post in the morning before lessons. Turning to his stuff, he'd gather it together before placing it in the satchel that was hanging from a low tree branch. Once he had his stuff tucked away and safe, he turned to Rowan, holding out a hand.

"Where do you usually walk to, then?"
He'd raise an eyebrow at her, Henry was generally quite friendly if it was one on one, it was group sessions that sometimes caused him to clam up.

Henry'd slide his bag onto his shoulder as he followed dutifully, sort of like a puppy. He chuckled as her hair flew into her face, scrunching his nose up.
"You really need a hair bobble..unless you tie the hair within the hair..it's what my sisters do when they run out. Oh and I have six sisters and two brothers. There's nine of us in total."

He'd state his sibling amount casually, his family always has lots of children, it was just something they did and whilst there was times he would've surely taken the chance to be an only child, he was sure he would've greatly regretted it. Henry cursed himself slightly as back home, he usually had an arm full of hair bobbles because of his sisters for when they run out or need one at the last minute. It was something he'd learnt, that girls always needed hair bobbles. His youngest brother, Jacob, was seven right now and currently had grown his hair to his shoulders. This meant he also tied his hair up.

"I couldn't imagine being an only child, what would you do all day?" He'd ask, trying to keep the conversation going as he lifted a hand to flatten down his hair as it got pushed off his forehead with the wind.

Henry'd nod, approving of the somewhat stylish hairstyle. He thought that it would be a handy way to subtly carry a wand around in the muggle world.

"Ah, we had a schedule. If the girls wanted to get ready then they had to stick to their fifteen minute time slot. Their makeup and such was usually done in their rooms so that they didn't waste time in the bathroom. We also washed some of the little kids the night before so it wasn't as hectic in the morning. Made it easier on dad not having to have an aneurism every morning."
He'd joke with a grin, nudging her to show he was joking.

"Did you not run out of things to explore? I can understand the reading though, sometimes I'd go to the library or hide in a cupboard or even visit my mum to get some peace and quiet in order to read. Suppose you could do that wherever you like. Did you have any cousins close to your age then?"

Henry wasn't exactly probing into Rowan's life, he was just curious as to whether the girl had any family around her own age that she could rely on and play with.
Whilst waiting for the reply, he picked at leaves from trees nearby, pulling them apart absentmindedly.

Henry'd muffle his laugh at her almost falling, instinctively reaching out to try and stop her from landing on her face. Obviously he failed, but he then tried to help her up so he wasn't a completely terrible person, he supposed.

"You're really clumsy aren't you? My older sister is like that, bumping into everything and tripping on air. You remind me of her, sort of." He'd grin at her, fondly rolling his eyes at remembering the many trips to A&E that were needed due to his siblings. Henry personally had only been for himself once when he was on the bottom of a dog pile and they heard his arm snap. That wasn't fun.

"Well, I'm a muggleborn and up until now we didn't know anything about magic. So all our activites were just pure..us. We were quite adventurous and gave a lot a go. Which is why I've had ballet, tap, cheer, guitar, acting and gymnastics classes all in my backyard with numerous siblings teaching the rest. It really is quite weird I suppose but it's letting me join a lot of clubs here. Have you joined any?"

He'd look to her once he stopped talking, half cringing as he realised he'd been rambling slightly.
