The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
The Entrance Hall was so big, bigger than my whole house. The stone walls were lit by torches like the ones we see in old castles, the ceiling was too high and the magnificent marble staircase that led to the upper floors.
As soon as the other first years and i entered the Great Hall we were looking around in wonder, the room was lit by thousands of candles which were floating in mid-air over four long tables, where the rest of the students were sitting. At the top of the Hall was another long table where the teachers and the Headmaster were sitting.
All the other older students were looking at us. It does make me feel more nervouse than normal to have all those other students looking so clossely. I thought, walking along with the other students right behind the Deputy Headmaster. We stopped in front of the teatchers where a stool with the sorting hat stood.
The Deputy Headmaster started calling the students by their last name in Alphabetic order, i saw as some went to Gryffindor, others to Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. Some were happy with their house choice, others not that much and there were even some disappointed. From what i can see the Gryffindor house looks too loud to me and to be honest i'm not exactly brave...the Hufflepuff while being hard workers were kind of clossed from each other and didn't seem that honest... Ravenclaw while a house i would fit in also didn't look that sociable i mean i love to learn but not to become a know-it-all...honestly slytherin seemed like the best choice, they were honest and always tried to reach higher in the world, they were without a doubt the house i wanted to go, it was just as the hat said this house was where i would meet my true friends. I whatched as the Deputy Headmaster reached the M's.
"Meow, Mia." the teacher called, taking a deep breath i began walking to the stool, sitting on it the hat was imediatly put on my head covering my eyes.
Mia Meow. Never had a member of your family here on Hogwarts. Ah, yes your mother was from America, i can also see sadness for her leave. But i see u remained strong for your father. Hmm. You are very difficult. Plenty of courage and also very hard working and honest. Not a bad mind either, know when to act and when to lay low. There's talent, oh my goodness, yes there is. And i also see a nice desire to prove yourself, now that's interesting. You fit in any house. So where shall I put you? Oh there it is, yes i believe that house would be the best choice so you better be SLYTHERIN"
Smilling to myself i took of the hat, a table erupted in applause and seeing that most people who sat their wore green scarves i started walking there knowing it was my House. I smiled politely to the welcomes and handshakes i received and sat down on the free spot close to my fellow housemates. I could see some of the looks from the other houses but i didn't care, aftel all judging people just by their house is silly. My family is Muggle and i love them, and no matter what i will befriend other houses too, and show them that im my own person. Better send a letter tomorow to dad, i already miss him. i thought as i started to eat.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
FYI
"Kang, Morgan." announced the droopy yet enthusiastic mound of fabric, known by at least everyone who knew Hogwarts very well, except for the one whose name was being called, the name of 'the Sorting Hat'.
Morgan stood up from their seat, trembling, at the front of the table of the teachers - or shall they say, professors - anxious to move. All eyes were on them now, staring deeply and cautiously as if Morgan was a threat to the community. They were stuck to Morgan's face, away from the vastness and tranquility of the Hall, lit overhead with floating candles. The only sound audible was produced from the swift breeze outside the castle windows. The eyes, though many in colour, glew in one bright yellow harmony as if the candles overhead were not enough to satisfy theincreasing anxiety fed from inside Morgan's head.
Morgan could not stand it no longer: at last, they had picked up their lengthy black robes off the floor, shifted in between those blocking their way from the pathway to the chair where the Hat had sat, over which it was now being held by one of the professors, and then sat down.
Morgan had then felt the hat move and vibrate, the earthquake voice above them rattling Morgan in turn. "Ah, yes," it had started in its accent. "Let's see what we have here at this moment."
After a brief moment, it droned on, saying: "My speculations exactly. I sense a lot of wisdom," it continued, making Morgan feel simultaneously honored and confused to have been complimented on. The Hat had apparently sensed this as strongly as they did, and responded as if it had a say in this:
"Nervousness, I presume?" a murmur of sorts arose from both the yellow- and red-clothed tables. Some were looking at Morgan cheekily as well as menacingly, feeding the spirit of insicurity inside Morgan even more-
"Well, not to worry, my dear, you wouldn't need be in Gryffindor... Ah, so it is relieving, I see," the Hat had exclaimed again. Morgan had sighed under their breath at the moment but then felt a little guilt that they might have been his friend group after all.
"You might as well be in Hufflepuff, with that very welcoming heart of yours. You'll get along perfectly! Although, your own timidity is but a mere obstacle that could potentially block you from this." More murmurs from the yellow table.
All the tables except the red-clothed one were murmuring; the blue and green-clothed ones almost at a talking level. "Well, too bad you can't fit in with these pure-bloods either; you could do very, very well, if I say so myself... they just may not, well, may I say, appreciate your status." the Hat exclaimed once more, having been followed by an fit of laughs from the green table.
"RAVENCLAW!"
A roar of applause and cheer filled the void of silence afterwards. Morgan, still trembling, stood up, got the Hat removed from their head and was escorted by what they were told to be the prefect to the table in blue. Morgan had now gotten the chance to relax in this, and with a sigh, started to eat.
Reducio
I took this from the older Sorting Ceremony thread, and since I cannot delete it's I've reposted it here; I'm just too convicted of minor details and tend to skip over things a lot, sorry!

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Nathan stood patiently as the Professor explained how the sorting process worked. Nathan couldn't help but wonder why no newcomers knew the secret of the hat and were not told before they got on the train. He looked around and saw the faces of other first years so excited and happy. Like it would be fun getting sorted into your house. This would basically start your career depending on which house you got. For him, Nathan was hoping with his fingers crossed to get Slytherin and not Gryffindor. It would not be an enjoyment to be around loud, obnoxious, people who didn't do their homework. For him it was Slytherin. Slytherin (at least he thought) would give him the most opportunities later on. Many people admired ambitious wizards and Nathan himself knew they were hard to find. Of course, there was always a downside with the best things. Other people thought that all the evil people went to Slytherin House. He knew a dark wizard that went to Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff! That wizard was still chasing him to this day. A great seek of vengeance bubbled in his heart as they were lead into the Great Hall.
"Nathan Matrix"
He got up and walked up to the hat.
As Rugged and old-fashioned as it was, the hat fit his hat perfectly and snuggly.
"Ahh. Ambitious I see. Yes very ambitious, hoping for the house that will lead you the farthest are you? Yes, I know." Nathan closed his eyes and got ready to be sorted into his house. Nothing happened.
"Hmmmm..... Oh, oh yes, very interesting. I'll tell you this Nathan, Your most fatal flaw will be your upbringing to your dreams ahead." He didn't know what the hat meant, but before he could think about it the hat yelled into the hall, "SLYTHERIN!!! The Slytherin table cheered as he was welcomed into his new home. For better or worse, his fate was decided.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Cleo looked around the great hall with awe as she passed through its grand wooden doors. It was so much better than her mother had described and it finally made the world of magic seem real to her. She walked forwards with the crowd around her, hoping she didn’t look too nervous. She had heard a little about the houses from her mother, but nothing very descriptive. She knew that a hat would be placed upon her head that would choose whom she’d spend the next 7 years of her life with. Nothing to worry about then!
“Cabello, Cleo”
Cleo walked hesitantly forwards to the small stool that faced the entire school. She sat down and waited, bursting with curiosity, as the sorting hat was placed over her head. In the last moments before the folds of fabric covered her eyes she stared out at the crowd of students, daring them to judge her.
“Hmm.” A voice said in the blackness.
“Interesting... I see courage encased in this heart... but also, there’s something else... oh yes, something you may not know yourself... well it’s clear where I should put you-
GRYFFINDOR”
Cleo looked out at the table of red and gold with a smile on her face. They were clapping - it wasn’t something she was used to, but it gave her a warmth inside, something she would like to feel more often. As she sat down she finally allowed herself to beleive that she could find true friends at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizadry.

Can we just get this over with?
Linus sighed loudly as he waited amongst the other first years, not even feigning patience.
I already know the outcome…
In fact, Linus’ entire family already knew what the outcome would be. For the last several years, there had not been a single doubt in the Prescott household that the youngest would land himself in Slytherin. Since practically before he could remember, Linus had been a source of trouble for his friends and family. He had learned to embrace his rebellious side a long time ago, and at this point in his life, whether he sought out trouble or not, it always seemed to find him anyway, so it was of no use to avoid it. Linus recalled one particular time when he was seven years old and his parents had blamed him for a very expensive vase that had mysteriously ended up shattered on the sitting room floor. While he hadn’t been responsible for breaking that particular vase, that night after a shouting match with his parents, Linus had proceeded to break two other valuable antiques decorating his home. Some might have considered that as having anger issues, but Linus chose to think of it as living up to his true potential.
“Prescott, Linus,” a voice called from the front of the Great Hall. This instantly pulled Linus away from his thoughts of the past and with a light smirk across his face, he casually swaggered up to to the front of the crowd and took a seat on the small wooden stool waiting for him there.
“A Prescott? I haven’t seen one of you in quite some time,” the sorting hat mused.
“Lucky you,” responded Linus, unsure if he had only thought the words or if they had actually left his mouth.
“Well...definitely a great deal of ambition, intelligence as well. I see a certain...tendency for rule-breaking. I believe I know right where you belong--
GRYFFINDOR!”
Though his heart hadn’t increased in pace even a beat in the moments leading up to his sorting, it fluttered wildly with nervousness as he stood up, surprised that his legs were strong enough to support him. Slowly, Linus put one foot in front of the other until he had reached the Gryffindor table, the table that was supposedly full of people who were like him. And yet, Linus felt more out of place than ever before.

Vales stood, freaking out on the inside, but otherwise seemingly calm, as other first years got sorted into their houses. Secretly, Vales wished that she could get into Ravenclaw, as both of her dad's had met there, and wouldn't it just be perfect if their daughter did too? Her heart beat quite loudly in her chest, mostly from the nerves, and the crowds in the great hall didn't help one bit! One of her hands reached up to play with her braid, and she tried her best to not bite her nails, as she usually did whenever she was nervous. Vales tried to think of her dad's, standing exactly where she was, years before. Where they nervous? She'd have to ask them in her next letter.
"Vales Minter"
Vales released a deep breath she wasn't even aware she was holding in as she walked towards the stool, taking a seat. She pasted a fake calm smile on her face, one that would maybe convince the rest of the room, and maybe even her, that she was ready.
"Ah! A Minter! Your father was a sharp one."
Vales couldn't help a small, true, smile from coming on her face. She didn't know WHICH father he truly meant, but, she had taken Dad's last name, so she presumed him.
"Yes, he truly is." She thought.
Quite a intelectual! Ooh, and a love for school. No doubt about it...
Vales couldn't help but hold her breath. It sounded like she was going to Ravenclaw, but..
"RAVENCLAW"
A small laugh exited Vales as the sorting hat got lifted off her, and she walked towards the Ravenclaw table. Cheering ran out, and in that moment, Vales felt like she belonged.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Ruby waited while other students' names were called. She used this as a good time to observe her surroundings. The Great Hall was impressive by most people's standards, certainly. A nice piece of architecture there, with a main feature of the arched ceiling.
Her initial thoughts were interrupted by cheers. One person down then. She didn't pay much attention to what house they were in. Instead, she finished her examination of the room itself. She made note of the locations of the exits and doors, where people could try and hide, the easiest escape route, and where people could slip by unnoticed.
Now for the students. It wasn't hard to figure out which house was which, even if she didn't know as much as she did about them. She was a pure-blood, after all. Even so, the family members that she had met were spread out over the houses of Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor. When she first learned about that as a young girl, she questioned why this was, when there were four houses. Her parents had immediately told her all the negative things about Slytherins. She still hadn't figured out why they were so biased. They were from Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but that shouldn't really matter.
Ruby glanced at the sea of red and gold at the Gryffindor table. That was where her parents wanted her to be. They had repeated it over and over ever since she understood the concept of houses. She wouldn't be fooled by that. Her parents had even told her what to say to the hat. No, Ruby was determined to get into the house she belonged in. If it was Gryffindor, so be it…
Slytherin, on the other hand… she had always been drawn to it, and her parents' negative comments about it had just made her more determined to find out the truth about the house. Ruby had a feeling that was where she belonged. The house of snakes. Silver and green.
Ruby looked at the other students in her year. She wasn't too bothered about the ones at the tables, they were slightly harder to pick out now. She noticed obvious signs of nervousness – sweaty palms, shaking, expressions of worry. Even the ones who tried to conceal it better gave it away by their body language and the look in their eyes. Sure, this moment did determine much of their fate for the next 7 years, but Ruby wasn't unduly worried. She heard a last name beginning with C called. The time was close, then. Ruby went back to analyzing the other students, the ones who seemed to be more interesting.
Then, her name was called. Cazares, Ruby. She walked up to the hat, subconsciously carrying herself with an air that exuded confidence, intelligence, power, and sophistication. She had been told before that she did it, but she never really noticed. After all, she couldn't see herself constantly.
She sat down and the hat was lowered to her head. Most of the students at the tables were pretty quiet and staring at her. She smirked and wanted to dare them to challenge her somehow, but then the hat fit into place on her head. Ah, another Cazares. Are you a Ravenclaw like your father or a Gryffindor like your mother and brother? Ruby had expected mentions of her parents, but what the heck was the hat playing at? Brother? She had no brother! What brother? I think you have the wrong person… Whatever. The hat was probably broken or something, or mixed it up with one of her cousins. Yeah, that was probably it.
No, no, my dear, but that isn't important to your sorting. I see you have nerve and bravery, a fire inside you, a challenge, a desire for adventure. You would fit well in Gryffindor. Ruby wrinkled her nose slightly in distaste. She hadn't realized until this moment that she didn't want to be in Gryffindor at heart. She wanted a different path from the one that her parents had set for her. No? Fair enough… you are not chivalric, and you don't have a strong desire to fight for what's right. Ruby frowned. Excuse me? she thought, slightly angrily. She wanted to challenge the hat, accuse it of not knowing who she really was, but then she remembered that this hat could supposedly see into one's soul. What was she doing wrong? What made it say that? She would have to analyze this information later. She had always thought of herself as wanting to save the world – not in the type of way that cartoon superheroes did, but in the real way. By making changes. Helping the planet. Was that not the truth – not what she really wanted?
There's more… lots more… a ready mind, inquisitive and intelligent. Curious, creative, wise. You would be perfect for Ravenclaw, as you are an intellectual who prizes learning and knowledge, simply for the sake of it. Even so, your ambitions are unable to be ignored. You aim high, and you never give up. You will do whatever it takes to reach your goals. You are clever and cunning, and shrewd on top of that. You are learning to bend words to your will, to use every advantage that you're given. You're self-preserving. You would do well in Slytherin. Hufflepuff would not be a good fit for you, though, as you have a lack of true morals, you don't care about whether something is fair or not, and the little loyalty that you have falters. You make no attempt to be kind, unless it might help you. No, Hufflepuff is not right for you, and neither is Gryffindor, as we determined earlier. Ruby was a little shaken. What the hat was saying… it made her sound like a bit of a terrible person. She knew that that wasn't the truth… right?
So, girl, Slytherin or Ravenclaw? You long for knowledge, but for what purpose? You are a curious intellectual who simply wants to learn, not necessarily with the intention of using it to further yourself. The stimulation of being around people that are as curious and as knowledge-hungry as you are would do you well, but you are also incredibly ambitious and perhaps a little ruthless. There is a lot of power within you, but what will you choose to do with it? The hat was taking a long time, longer than most anyone else she had seen so far. Would she be a hatstall, or at least a near hatstall? It seemed like it so far… the hat seemed to be waiting for her to make a decision, but now that she was faced with the choice, she realized that she would enjoy being a Ravenclaw just as much as she would being a Slytherin. There is a desire to rebel against what your parents want of you. You aim to prove them all wrong, disobey them, and come out on top. You have high aspirations, young one. Yes, perhaps this house is the best for you, after all.
SLYTHERIN
As she lifted the hat off her head, she heard it whisper, Remember to keep your heart in the right place. There is darkness within that you will come to face.

The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
It was big.
Alex had just entered the two titanic doors that blocked the great hall from the icy winds that blew throughout the land. shivering, he wondered if he was supposed to be here, after all, he didn't really fit the description of the houses he read about in Harry Potter's, well, biography. He wasn't overtly brave, so Gryffindor was out, and he would always try to get some sleep in class, so Ravenclaw was out, also, why was Ravenclaw a picture of an Eagle, instead of, well, a Raven. From what he read, he didn't want to be in Slytherin. He wasn't too ambitious either, so that was out even if... oh man.
He looked up to see the largest room he had ever seen in his life. Rows upon rows of tables filled the place, his keen eyes picked out a student that stood out, one who seemed apathetic to all this grandeur, who was put in Ravenclaw. The lights were everywhere, They were on tables, the walls, chandeliers, even the air! The whole room was full of candles. He gazed about the room, watching everyone. Excellent, he sighed with relief, everyone was as nervous and anxious as him. He wished Xander was here, even though he wasn't a wizard, he just wanted a friend with him. Even though the tables were covered in food, actually, that was an understatement. Piles as tall as him of potatoes, more steak than what was in five cows, pudding that could feed the entirety of South Carolina, not to mention the heaps of ham, scores of salmon, crates of crab... You get it. he wasn't feeling hungry. For a while, he thought that he wouldn't even be picked, when the hat boomed two words that rang in his ears,
"ALEXANDER CLAASSEN!"
He walked over to the hat, watching as the others parted to let him pass. The hat was placed on top of his head, and surprisingly, it fit. he looked around the room, some people were staring at him, others were digging into their food, others were snickering, for some reason...
Interesting... Smart, yet not bright, Courageous, yet not fearless, Loyal, yet not naive, Determined, yet not ambitious, hmm... Alex found himself thinking the same thoughts that Harry Potter thought many years ago. Not Slytherin, Not Slytherin... Surprisingly, the hat started laughing, Oh? Well in that case... Alex remembered something from the book, Better be- You guessed it, "GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted the last word, and Alex took off the hat, and walked over to the Gryffindor table, looking shell shocked. A few Gryffindors greeted him, and, seeing his shocked expression, led him over to an empty spot at the table. "T...thanks, I'm Alex, Nice to meet you."
The Sorting ceremony 2018-2019
Hyun Jin wasn’t sure how she was suppose to feel about coming into this new school. She was only in private schools in the past. Her mother wanted her to go to Hogwarts for some reason. Why not where her sisters go?
Returning her attention to the teacher talking in the front of the huge room full of magical candles and wizards, Hyun Jin was standing in the center with all of the new first years. They were waiting in line to find out which house would welcome them as their new family for the next seven years.
Her dad had told her it would be a great experience, that she would make new friends. However, the young black haired girl was more sure about the fact that she wasn’t familiar with anything. Everything was new, and she knew nobody. Nothing was familiar to her, Korea felt like light years away.
The children keep walking to the front of the room where each of them were getting chosen by a house. HyunJin heard somewhere that the hat only choose the house the wizard really wanted to go to. He was making his choice by regarding the life of the wizard, his memory, his personality and his goals. At least, it was what she thought he was doing.
HyunJin turned her eyes to the front and saw that only two or three students would be chosen before it was her turn. She anxiously played with her hair while watching all of the four tables of each house, a slight nervous tick of hers. The blues, the yellow, the green and the red. Which would be the best for her? She had no clue where she wanted to be.
It was now her turn, all this thinking has made the time flow so fast she didn’t event see it coming. HyunJin nervously looked around her. All the eyes were on her. It was a moment she won’t forget any time soon. She sits on the stool and waited. There was nothing else to do except relaxing and waiting. The teacher puts the hat on her head.
“Hm... You came from really far young girl... I see many qualities of the Gryffindor house, but I don’t think you would be using your full potential there... There is also curiosity. Yes, a lot of wonder within you. I know which house is the best for you, young foreigner... you will go in... RAVENCLAW!”
The young Korean was surprise, but if the hat said it, it must be the best choice. The teacher removed the hat from her head and she started to walk toward her new family at the table of the silver and blue.
A new beginning for a young witch.
