Lion CubsIt was indeed the tenth of September, a new year had started, and thus once more, Tristan was back at Hogwarts. The Gobstones tournament had been a success last year and thus he had started it up again once more. As such two more students had joined the club, Fang Yun Xin and Maeve Blackmore, both Gryffindors, both first years. The club was strong with over fifteen members and growing including himself. Perhaps, soon enough, the Gobstones team could become official, and the game could be a competition between houses. However, for now they would have to be content with such a game of fun. Having notified the two youngest players of their match, he came to the appointed area and carefully set up the ring along with the seven gobstones on the ring. In addition he portioned out the eight stones belonging to each of the players to throw. He then placed a sheet with the rules down next to each player, just in case the two were not familiar with the game. He then announced, “Fang Yun Xin, Maeve Blackmore, welcome to your first match as part of the Gobstone Club! How are you? My name is Tristan and I will be your moderator for today! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me while we play. Also, if I catch you cheating, you will lose a turn so please do not do so. I’ll explain a few of the game mechanics now. As you see, there are eight gobstones to throw and seven already set up in the rings. The object of the game is to knock your opponent’s stones off the board. Whoever has the most stones left after the eight throws wins! I wish you good luck! And of course, make sure to have fun!”OOC Rules
ReducioRules of the MatchThis is a classic match of Gobstones so the objective is to knock out seven of your opponent’s Gobstones before they knock out yours. Here are the throws to choose from:
1. The Classic Throw - a normal roll aimed at one of your opponent's Gobstones; DC remains the same for each stat
2. The Catapult - a strong throw; DC is lowered for strength stat but becomes higher for accuracy
3. The Conscious Throw - a wise throw; DC is lowered for wisdom stat but becomes higher for strength
4. The Careful Throw - an accurate throw; DC is lowered for accuracy but becomes higher for wisdom

MBMBMBMaeve's mother had never allowed her to partake in certain activities she deemed "messy" or beneath her. Gobstones was one of them, not that it had stopped Maeve from procuring a set of them at the Weasley shop before setting off to Hogwarts. In fact, within her first week, she had tried to find someone to play with, the memory of her goal resurfacing as she had unpacked that first night. She could have waited, but sleep wouldn't have become her so long as she didn't control her environment. It wasn't long before sign-up sheets were displayed on the bulletin board, and she did that.

The weather was still lovely despite the start of autumn. A chill breeze with warm sun rays giving them comfortable days and brisk evenings. She'd dressed in layers as she did most days. Every weekend, she shed the school uniform for an outfit from her micro wardrobe—a pair of skinny black pants and a baby blue shirt beneath a light jacket.
With a hand in her pocket, she felt the velvet bag of gobstones there, which brought her some joy. She had planned for a change of clothes in her backpack. After all, this was a messy game, and though she wished for beginners' luck, she didn't count on it. Tristan, the blond boy who lead the team looked much older. She wasn't sure what year he was in, but she hoped she could make a good enough impression to have an upperclassman as a friend. After listening to his instruction she nodded and settled in her spot.
With her set out, she watched as a portion was set in the circle, and seven remained for her to throw. She took a moment to give a small smile to her opponent, a fellow lion.
— Good luck, Xin, she offered with a bright smile, hoping she pronounced it right but left unsure if it sounded like shin or djinn. She should have taken Mandarin as her mother had suggested, but Scottish was filled with hilarious sayings. More than anything, she was excited to play something that had been highly counseled against. Setting her bag down she took her first stone and considered her options. With a flick of the wrist, she aimed for one of her opponent's gobstones and held her breath.
