Question: Is it the UK version of football or is it the American version of football? I'm American in real life and trying to figure out if you're talking about American soccer? It doesn't make a difference, I'm just curious.
Chloe listened, genuinely curious as the boys talked about football and running. She didn't know too much about the sport, maybe if they became friends, someone could teach her about it or how to play it. She laughed at Alex's reply to her question about being so happy that early.
"I think it might be a lack of sanity, honestly." She smiled at Alex, laughing again. She pulled her hair back into a low ponytail, trying to keep it from blowing in her face from the breeze. It would tickle her nose, so she didn't like it.
"I don't know much about football. Can you guys teach me about it sometime? How to play or anything?" She directed that question at both of the boys standing in front of her, hoping one of them would say yes. She loved trying new things and was excited about the chance to do it.

"You might be quite right about that."
Alex then seems to think for a moment about how he would tell her what football (American soccer) was. Then he thought 'it would be best to make a lot of references to quiditch'
"Well you could say it is similar to quiditch but it is most certainly not the same type of sport. In football you have 2 goals, like if quiditch only had one pole to protect. Then there are of course no brooms for people to ride on so they simply run to the other goals to manage to try and shoot at it. This also means that the goal a.k.a. like the hoops in quiditch. also needs to be on ground level. Furthermore the distance between two goals are much smaller than the distance between the two groups of three hoops in quiditch. There is also only one ball. Which is like the quaffle, it needs to go through the goal to give the other team a point. not 10 points but 1 point. Then finally the match is not stopped when the golden snitch is caught but after 90 minutes. This makes sure that a match will not last for days on end which it might do with quiditch. " Alex would then take a few breaths, recovering from what he had just said.

Ben watched the exchange at first before answering the question directed towards him earlier. It was interesting to see someone besides him discuss Football to a Wizard who didn't know it. He had done something similar recently and was really missing his favorite sport. Once Alexander finished his explanation he smiled and spoke up.
"Too bad we have no teles to watch the games," he teased before affirming the suspicion. "This here is the Scottish team, yeah. Glad to see someone recognize it!"
He glanced over to Chloe in curiosity as he was always happy to play some Football. His trunk had one he had packed to play with but had found few who knew what it was or who wanted to play. Maybe he could get her to play a bit? Ben also wanted more friends from other houses beyond those he met in the commons of Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff were rumored to be the nice ones who enjoyed food, comfort, and making friends. Seemed like a stereotype he could get behind for the most part.
"I brought a football if you'd ever like to play a bit," he added as it didn't seem Alexander was one to offer the same, if he even brought one. "Always happy to have more people play. Us insane runners need more friends too."

Chloe listened to the explanation of 'football', nodding. She thought it sounded interesting and decided she would like to try the game. She smiled widely at the boys. "I'd love to try!" She giggled slightly, excited about trying new things. She wasn't good at sports, but she'd love to try it out.
"I'm going to warn you though, I highly doubt I'm decent at it at all..." She laughed slightly, teasing herself. She was good at laughing at herself. "So just don't laugh at me TOO much." She continued, laughing again.
She listened as the boys talked about this football team that they loved, trying to follow along. Maybe she would figure out a way to do some research on the sport, that way she could contribute to the conversation sometime. Maybe she could write an owl to her parents, see if they could send her a book about muggle sports. She couldn't wait. She was always willing to try and learn new things if it meant more friends.

"I mean when you see it every so often on the tellie it is hard to miss. By the way, how come electricity doesn't work in Hogwarts ? I heard something about that it has to do with magic but how exactly does that work ?" Alex says with a curious and befuddled expression on his face. He would then nod as Ben offered to go play football "That would be cool, and though I do not personally play football a lot a fun match is certainly welcome"
Alex then smiled as Chloe offered to join too. He would then speak in an enthustiastic manner "cool and it's no problem if you are not that good at it. As long as we have fun that is all that matters. Trust me I myself am no start at football either." He would then get a bit of a frown on his face and speak in a slightly worried manner. "It would be nice to play football sometime but I don't think we can go back to the castle, find a place to play football and play a match before breakfast or our lessons start. Maybe we can do a match at a later time today or tommorow around this time. Though a bit of a later time maybe to help our sane friend to get enough sleep.""

"I'd be up for a game one morning to replace my run," he replied with some excitement in his tone. "Extra sleep wouldn't hurt anyone..."
Ben's mind went to his recent amount of sleep again. It was pretty bad to say the least so if he could make an excuse to sleep a bit more, he would. Both of these new acquaintances seemed kind enough to make it a fun game rather than ultra competitive. They admit already their skill is lacking so that meant Ben would be advantaged anyways in a competition.
Chloe doesn't seem the type of girl to enjoy the sport, but I guess she wants to try...
He found himself silently judging his new peers. The Slytherin mentioned seeing games on television previously so maybe Wizards had them... was there still hope for Ben to watch games? He tried not to get his hopes up but he would be sure to ask about that one later. Chloe seemed like she was all Wizarding World. He had some questions for her so even if she was bad maybe she would give him some insight into Wizard sports like Quidditch. Ben still thought about it often and how he really wanted to get on the team.
