Seeing Anastasia outside beyond classes was a fairly rare occurrence. Most of the time, the young Gryffindor could be found in the Common Room or Library, but today, Anastasia was on a mission. The recent Herbology lesson had gotten her thinking. She'd done an abnormal amount of research on plants that grew in the Great Lake, and it had led her to wonder about what else lived in the Great Lake. She'd read quite a bit about Kelpies and Merpeople, but even the bookworm would admit that reading could only do so much.
So, the brunette was heading toward the lake to try to see something for herself. It occurred to her that she hadn't exactly thought it all the way through. She frowned a bit. She supposed she'd just wait by the shore and see if she saw anything. Since she was specifically looking for Kelpies and Merpeople, she could hardly jump into the Great Lake to look for them. She also began to wonder exactly how safe it was to have vicious beings like that surrounding a school. Then again, Hogwarts was hardly known for its safety.
Her thoughts about safety and Kelpies and merpeople distracted her from looking where she was going, and she almost walked into a tree. As she began to maneuver around the tree, she almost trampled a boy who sat there reading. She blushed a bit as she stopped short. Normally, she was quite aware of her surroundings, so she was rather embarrassed at nearly trampling the boy.

The Little Kelpie
Neculai found himself on one of those rare occasions where he had gone outside to enjoy the weather and find a nice and quiet spot to do some reading. He had chosen to continue reading in the book: "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." he hadn't found the time yet to finish up on it since that encounter in the station back in London. Neculai had heard of a great lake on the grounds of Hogwarts as he still had much of Hogwarts to explore he wanted to get to know the place and perhaps he would even find some creatures there. Once there a tree close to the lake blocked some ground underneath it with its shade from the sun, with other words a perfect reading spot.
The chapter he read was about some of the water based creatures. From Kelpies to Merpeople to Giant Squids and much, much more. He looked up from his book and watched the lake, his eyes scanning the water for a ripple or any indication of what might lie underneath its calm surface. He hoped to catch a glance of a Kelpie, he wasn't sure why though as an encounter with such a creature most likely resulted in death or in the best case he would end up with a serious injury. But besides that fact he was in awe with these creatures, they had a strange kind of beauty to them, that he just hadn't seen in any other. They were wild and free a counterpart to the always restrained and stressed out kid he was, but perhaps that was also a part of the reason why he liked them, because they are what he envied?
Neculai drifted off in deep thought as he kept his gaze on the blank surface of the lake's water. He was so deep in thought that he hadn't even noticed that a girl had almost trampled over him! He was pulled out of thought by the sudden appearance of the girl. He looked up at her and saw her blushing. "I-I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you." He brought out after a few minutes and stood. "My name's Neculai Dragos Lazar... The Third" He hastily added.

You're an enigma to me, but that's okay. I'll figure you out, in time...

The boy seemed alright enough, and not too offended at her nearly running him over, so she decided to play things on the nicer side. She was normally fairly polite as a matter of principle but seeing as she was starting to lose count of the number of people that considered her an enemy, she was trying to make more friends than enemies for the time being. Maybe not friends, necessarily, just not more enemies. Her parents had always said that a powerful person wasn't without enemies, they just had more allies than not. She definitely needed to work on that.
"Oh, that was rather my fault, I wasn't quite looking where I was going," Anastasia said, her voice closer to the mild, sweet tones of her mother than her normally confident voice. She knew how to make friends, she had just chosen not to most of the time at school so far. "I'm Anastasia Blair Marie Katherine Alexandra Sophia Beckett." The abnormally long name flowed off the Gryffindor's tongue as though having five middle names was perfectly normal. Perhaps that was because, in her world, it was relatively normal. Purebloods were a rather competitive bunch, with each of them trying to make their child's name sound more like royalty than their friends. And Anastasia's parents were certainly not exceptions. It hadn't even been enough to have their daughter share a name with some murdered princess, they'd decided to give her an absurdly long name. It had been quite irksome when she was learning how to write.
She had always been trained to have the way she introduced herself fairly mirror the person she was speaking with. The one exception to that rule was her last name. Her parents cared quite deeply about names and blood purity and all that. Anastasia, despite being quite intelligent for her age, didn't fully understand all that. Still, she'd followed her parents' instructions fairly well. Alright, no, she really hadn't. In fact, she had done just about the opposite. She hadn't been trying to rebel against them so much, it had really just happened. She'd been sorted into Gryffindor, which infuriated her parents, and she had made it worse by becoming as involved as she could with the house. Whether it was joining the newspaper staff, dressing all in red and gold, or becoming a prefect, Anastasia just couldn't seem to stop herself.
