The Unexpected
Even though it was still early in the evening, the small hall was curiously empty, so Elena pulled her hoodie back and dropped the Puck persona she wore around, she stretched and started to walk around the room a couple of times, occasionally randomly spinning on the spot, before long she was dancing by herself in the room. She spun around near the fireplace.
"All I need's a little love in my life, all I need's a little love in the dark." Elena started to have some actual fun in the hall, it was nice. Elena realised everyone was probably actually eating dinner in the great hall, but who needs food when you can have such fun?
"Shotgun! Aimed at my heart, you've got one, aimed at my heart you've got one!" She sang and laughed as she spun, she would usually sing Hypnotic or Heaven but she was waiting until she had someone to dance with for that. Preferably someone handsome or pretty, but that could wait until later.
"I need a little loving tonight, hold me so I'm not falling apart! A little but I'm hoping it might kickstart, me and my broken heart!" She grinned and bowed to the paintings as she sang the last line.
"All I need's a little love in my life, all I need's a little love in the dark." Elena started to have some actual fun in the hall, it was nice. Elena realised everyone was probably actually eating dinner in the great hall, but who needs food when you can have such fun?

The Unexpected
Ero walked from the Great Hall, still nibbling on a piece of peanut brittle her mother had sent in, and seemed completely intent on going to the Small Hall to warm up by the fireplace. Winter is, and always will be, her least favorite season. As she strode down the Hogwarts floors, she heard footsteps from the other hall, and slowly a voice glittered towards her.
"All I need's a little love in my life, all I need's a little love in the dark." Ero heard someone singing, and she slowed her steps until her too-small dress shoes slowed to small mouse-foot scuttles on the ground.
"Shotgun! Aimed at my heart, you've got one, aimed at my heart you've got one!" The continued, and the welsh girl realized whoever was in there seemed happy uninterupted. She scooted towards the door, deciding to just rush through and not bother them.
"I need a little loving tonight, hold me so I'm not falling apart! A little but I'm hoping it might kickstart, me and my broken heart!" They seemed to finish, and just as the paintings began their applause, she rushed out of the doorway and attempted to rush past her, but in her rush misjudged the stranger's position and tripped over their leg, landing light on her own hands.
"Ah-!" Ero exclaimed, shaken.

Elena grinned as the paintings appeared to approve of her singing when suddenly someone hurtled out of nowhere and tripped on her leg.
Elena dashed over to where the girl had landed, "Are you okay? You took quite a tumble there. I'm sorry if I was in your way, I really didn't mean to make you fall over. I have a first aid kit stashed somewhere around here if you need it. I know how these floors can really graze your hands."
"Sorry, I'm really rambling here aren't I? Let me help you up. I'm Elena by the way, it's nice to meet you except maybe it'd be nicer if I hadn't just accidentally tripped you over." She laughed nervously and held her hand out to the girl.
Hopefully this student was one of the nicer ones, but given the Hufflepuff robes it was more likely than not. Elena actually wrote up a chart of likelihood of being a nice student, it went Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin. Her fellow snakes were wary of almost everyone, she guessed it came with the territory seeing as some of the older students had told her about how the house had been reviled for years. For some reason the Gryffins either loved or hated her on sight. They also had that weird politics thing going on. Elena looked at the girl expectantly.

Ero lifted her head and brushed her red-brown hair from her eyes, rubbing dust from her robes.
"Are you okay? You took quite a tumble there. I'm sorry if I was in your way, I really didn't mean to make you fall over. I have a first aid kit stashed somewhere around here if you need it. I know how these floors can really graze your hands." Ero heard them stammer and looked up to them. They looked worried, and she felt a pang of realization she probably looked really upset. Quickly, Ero put on her 'It's okay' face.
"Sorry, I'm really rambling here aren't I? Let me help you up. I'm Elena by the way, it's nice to meet you except maybe it'd be nicer if I hadn't just accidentally tripped you over." They laughed, and Ero graciously took their hand and tucked her robes and such back to look atleast minorly neat.
"Don't worry about the rambling, and I'm fine, not the furthest I've fallen! Are you okay? I practically kicked you back there!" Ero giggled, putting a hand behind her back to rub off the dust so that she could extend it again.
"Ero Hallister, by the way! Proud Badger!" She felt the need to add the last bit, seeing the other girl's green and silver robes and assuming they'd be on edge.

Elena nodded and grinned, "Hey, you didn't kick me that hard."
"Ero, that's such a cool name." Elena smiled. Thank god, this girl was nice, and had some dazzling blue eyes. Which were pretty cool to see, also she didn't seem to be wary of Elena. Which was actually rather interesting as most everyone took one look at her hair, her house, and her crazy grins and either treated her with disdain or just general caution. Maybe she should stop hanging out around crazy Gryffindors. That would probably help.
"So, did you enjoy the show? I didn't realise anyone was there, otherwise I would've invited you to join in." Elena rubbed her arm, still a bit nervous, "I was also just going to chill out by the fire, or warm out I guess seeing as it's so cold, and it's you know, a fire. I like winter though, it's always nice to be able to wear cold colours. Just feels wrong to wear black in summer you know? Also to wear pastels in winter, but that hasn't stopped me or my hair dye collection has it?"
Elena pulled out a deck of cards, "We could play go fish or something if you're up for it, I always find it a bit of fun to do."

"Hey, you didn't kick me that hard." They grinned, and Ero smiled back, again. She did take quiet notice of the hair, but other than that the girl seemed perfectly normal to her. She glanced her up and down quietly, trying to hide her curiosity.
"Ero, that's such a cool name." They smiled, and Ero nodded her thanks. She seemed content with knowing they were happy about her, and honestly flattered from the compliment. Ero noticed the girl seemed almost apreciative.
"So, did you enjoy the show? I didn't realise anyone was there, otherwise I would've invited you to join in." They rubbed their arm and shifted, provoking another warm smile from Ero, "I was also just going to chill out by the fire, or warm out I guess seeing as it's so cold, and it's you know, a fire. I like winter though, it's always nice to be able to wear cold colours. Just feels wrong to wear black in summer you know? Also to wear pastels in winter, but that hasn't stopped me or my hair dye collection has it?" They seemed lighter, and Ero nodded.
"I wear yellow all year, it's perfectly fine to wear whatever you want! Ever seem a witch in overalls?" She light-heartedly joked, and glanced to her hands. They were holding cards, and she lifted an eye-brow excitedly.
"We could play go fish or something if you're up for it, I always find it a bit of fun to do." They offered, and Ero's heart lifted.
"Yes! Fish is my favorite! And the only card game I can play.. But it works no matter what! The show was lovely, by the way, you have a wonderful voice." She beamed and glanced around the hall.
"Want to play by the fire? The chill's getting in.."

Excellent, go fish was the only thing Elena could play too, she had found a book on card games and was very much looking forward to reading that, she wanted to be Kellen of House Ke but female. She hoped her life would work out better though.
"It is too, I have some cookies too if you want some? They're pretty good, at least I like them." Elena shrugged, and pulled a bag of cookies from her jacket pocket, "It's times like these that I'm happy I'm okay with the cold, it's a pretty good superpower."
She walked over to the fire and collapsed next to it she started to shuffle her deck of cards, "I would probably pick something weird like shadow manipulation though, or superspeed, you know I read this book the other day where one of the characters had these sweet razor sharp playing cards, a bit of superspeed and some of those would make me unstoppable. That's another thing, if ever you need a book to read just ask, I have lots of recommendations. I love them, I also tend to talk to them, but well, I guess people think I'm crazy when I do."
Elena looked up at Ero, "What about you? What superpower would you pick?"
