Owls, what a gift they are to this world! closed

Simon adjusted his Ravenclaw scarf as he left the castle, heading towards the Owlery. The sky was cloudy but there was still a beautiful sunset visible behind the thin clouds, its sun rays playing over the vast landscape like harp strings vibrating in slow motion. He had a letter he wanted to send to his parents. They wanted to know how he was doing in school and by summarizing this week he could gladly say that he had earned his house a couple of house points and got the highest grade on his last two home works in Astronomy and Charms class. But he still had not mentioned his lucky escape from the Whomping Willow or that he had got attacked by a cat and had fallen from a tree, and doing a couple of other minor mischiefs during his first semester at Hogwarts...

The Owlery was not a favorite place of his. Simon was an animal lover, and he loved his owl Hoax to bits, but just because you have a deep respect and affection for animals, does of course not make you any more willing to step in their poop. There was always bird poop on the floor in the Owlery, and the place always had this very distinct smell. It was not entirely unpleasant but not very pleasant either.

When he reached the top he found that he was not alone. One of the older students from his house was in there as well. He had seen her a couple of times in the common room throughout the semester but did not know much about her. He did not even know her name. Judging by her small size she could as well have been a First Year, but since she was not in his class and always seen around the Second and Third Years, he knew that she was older.

"Hi", said Simon and smiled politely to the girl before looking for Hoax.

Hoax was nowhere to be found among the many owls, resting or chirping above his head. But then he heard a familiar screech from afar and looked out through one of the windows. Hoax came flying as a silhouette against the sunset, bringing something with him. A large package.

"Oh no, not again", said Simon out loud when he saw the package, forgetting he was not alone and glanced at the Ravenclaw girl.

Judith was still enjoying the beautiful views of Hogwarts as suddenly, another student entered the Owlery. Judith had been here before, quite a few times actually, but she had never encountered the student before. She could clearly see he was a Ravenclaw as well, duo the uniform, but couldn't quite guess if in the same year or not. As the boy said hi to her while passing by, Judith just reacted with a smile, since she wasn't all too good in being social.

She turned back around to continue her look and search for Owls she hadn't seen here yet, she heard the boy say something, she turned around and saw him looking at a rather large package. She removed herself from the wall and came closer to the boy. "Hey, you good there, need any help with something or?" She asked. Judith wasn't very good at being social, but if it came to helping others, she was always the first one to jump in. She wasn't really sure if the Boy needed help but on the look of his face, it seemed like he wasn't really enjoying the moment. Judith took a quick look to see if her owl had left after all, and quickly turned her attention back to the boy

Simon took the package from Hoax and gave him a treat. He deserved it after such a long flight with such a heavy package. After all, his owl did not decide what to send to him. This was all his big sister's doing, sending gift boxes from her company with various health and beauty products for him to hand out to the girls at his school. 'Free advertising', he believed she called it. Simon had only been able to give away one box. The rest were stacked up in the Boy's dormitory in the Ravenclaw Tower, for which he was a bit ashamed. The boys had begun teasing him about it.

"Here you go, boy", he whispered. "I know you're just as tired of delivering these packages as I am receiving them..."

"Hey, you good there?", said the Ravenclaw girl behind his back. "Need any help with something or?"

He turned around. "No, it's all good. Thanks." He lied of course. Simon was not happy about having to carry such a girly looking box, white and beige decorated with cherry blossom twigs, throughout the school back to the dorm. "I'm sorry. I believe we haven't been introduced." He smiled and held out his hand for her to shake, trying to hide the box behind his back. "Simon. Simon Tilia. I'm in the first year."

Judith looking at the boy, and then at the boxes he had received and smiles. The boxes he had received had beautiful cherry blossom sonto them, one of Judith's favourite flowers. Out of her passion for her religion, she had always dreamed of having an other life in Japan, with a kawaii pink vibe, cause why not? Girls be girls i guess. Even tho the boy said he needed no help, she could see on the look on his face that some help would in the end be appreciated. "Let me just help you with those, i can carry them to the dormitors for you, Ravenclaw as well so, but draging them into the boy's dormitors will be something you'll have to figure out on your own tho, it that's where you want to stack them.' She said.

As the boy introduced himself, she was happy to had met a first year, for her, she hadn't quite met anyone who wasn't in her year, since those were the once she had classes with. "Judith, Judith Cohen, Second year Ravenclaw, since to meet you!"

As Judith moved closer, stacked two boxes onto each other and picked them up, she couldn't help herself but ask him why he had these particular boxes and what he's upto with them. "I don't want to be rude or anything, but i wonder, whats in these boxes and what are you up to with them, trying to cash some galleons or?" She said jokingly, to hopefully soften the topic.
