Hollowed Patience
PV FOR AURELIA BEZUIDENHOUT
IT was a late letter, one that he forgot to send to his family in light of recent events. There never seemed to be a time that he was not exhausted or tired. His usual high energy had decided to take a much-needed vacation against his will. It left him very quiet and in fact, quite irritable at times. But he hasn't snapped at anyone this year and he truly hoped that he wouldn't anytime soon. In his mind, he figured some healthy rest would suffice him if his self-assurance wasn't going to do the trick.
HIS inkwell was at the foot of his shoe, his quill in hand as a book sat on his lap and atop of that was a paper with a paragraph to suffice. He had a need to tell his parents how things truly were at Hogwarts, they weren't always okay and his mum was catching up to that fact. Why he was defending the school so much was beyond him, perhaps it was the friends he's made and the people he's met. Sure, Muggles were frankly just as interesting, but the world that wizards and witches lived in was even more interesting.
IT seemed fantasy and unreal, but reality was all about perspective and as far as Reid was concerned, it was very real. Reid erred on the side of caution when he wrote his letters, he made sure that they weren't giving too much or too little. Protect the secrets. It was the what he needed to do, Reid didn't want to be taken out of Hogwarts. He made good friends here, found something to pursue, it was just now that he was finally beginning to feel like he belonged. He already could feel how uncertain his dad was about sending him here alone though. The young man felt like he was constantly treading on thin ice on both paper and in person. But there was only a few times where he wanted to run to his parents about what he saw.
SURE, it was probably rather tame to adults, but to him it was an absolute nightmare to be subjected to. Reid coped, it was all he could do and what he needed to do. The letter was brief, meticulous almost that he was sure that his parents might see through his inked words. But there was no use in starting over, he already wrote the whole letter and was frankly too tired to rewrite it. Reid pulled the jacket to himself, wrapping his scarf tighter from the fall winds. He stood up and began to slowly roll the letter with a pair of shaky unprotected hands.
WHATEVER was going on around him or whoever was even around him were invisible as he tried to tie the letter up. After this, he just wanted some hot chocolate and the common room to fall asleep in.

Hollowed Patience
[quote][font=bodoni monotype]
Almost always, her Mother would be the first to send a letter before Aurelia wrote one in return however, for the past week, Aurelia hadn’t received a word. It wasn’t usual but neither was it a surprise, her Mother was by far the busiest woman Aurelia had ever seen. There had to be far too many things on her mind that made the thought of a simple letter slip. Aurelia had no problems to be the one taking the initiative but there was still that hint of disappointment that she felt.
The letter had already been written during the previous night minutes before she was about to sleep, so the content probably wasn’t in the best standards. From her past experience, Aurelia could never write in peace on a bench in the tower, the place most of the time wasn’t well maintained and the owls were always hooting about. Therefore, the girl preferred to pre-write letters instead.
The old wooden door to the owls creaked as it was pushed and was greeted by the same old screeches, squawks and hoots. Aurelia approached the nearest owl, a dark brown one, the feathers were healthy and it seems like it would deliver the letter in a jiffy. However, as much as the Gryffindor thought it was an ideal candidate for the delivering the letter, the owl thought otherwise. As Aurelia reached out to give the bird the piece of rolled up parchment, the feathered creature lunged at her hand, giving her index finger a hard nip.
“Godverdomme!” The yanked her hand away, the same Dutch profanity slipping from her lips. The invasive bird rudely snatched the letter from her hand before flying from the window. The girl could only hope that her Mother would receive the letter. A bit of crimson leaked out from the side of her index finger. The girl produced a piece of tissue from her pocket in order to apply pressure into the cut. The owl was a very nasty bugger.
As Aurelia was about to turn around and leave, she spotted a familiar Hufflepuff boy sitting on one of the many benches working on a letter. What a perfect timing. This boy wasn’t an ordinary Hufflepuff, this was Reid Kovacs, a perfect candidate to include in the Gossip section of her Gryffgazette articles. A keen ear for gossips was what Aurelia had, besides the former newspaper team leader Sabrina Hurst, Aurelia was aware that there were others who was suspected to have, what they all call, a crush on Reid. Rumours were only rumours until there was somewhat evidence to prove it was true.
The heel of her shoe clicked noisily against the floor as Aurelia approached the hufflepuff, the didn’t intent to make her presence less noticeable as there was no point in doing so. “Mister Kovacs, is it alright if I take a few minutes of your time to ask a few questions, for the Gryffgazette of course?” Her words were formally structured like how they always were when she conducted interviews.

Hollowed Patience
IT was a surprise that he didn't catch Aurelia's profanity, he was too subjected by the gravity of his own doubts. It was usually the only time he was the most self-absorbed, sadly. As the large owl sat in front of him, its claws gripping the post with an unspoken patience. The shakiness and clumsy handiwork cost him a few tries when it came to the tie, he wanted to make sure it was secure though. Reid had run out of envelopes, it only made sense to use twine to him.
HE fixed his readers, pushing up the sliding spectacles up from the bridge of his nose. Reid reached out to tie it to the bird's leg before he heard 'Mister Kovacs'. Normally, it was a teacher who said that and in a much sterner tone. He stopped, much to the owl's dismay, and looked over rather blankly. She seemed familiar, it took him a second to realize it was the girl he helped pull from the lake and the one who was also in the Quidditch match. His brow arched at the interesting question, why would anyone want to interrogate him?
"HEY Aurelia ..." he trailed. A soft gust of air escaped from the side of his tightened lips, feeling slight dread creep up on him. It usually went to the usual topics, like the campground, especially if it was going to be for the Gryffgazette. It was the first time he's heard the name, it was nice, to say the least. But he truly wished she wouldn't ask for it or at least she would keep it brief. "Let me just finish this thing, one second." The young boy fixated himself on carefully attaching the letter with an unnatural concentration.
REID was sort of stalling, putting off the interview that she asked him for. Why he didn't just reject her had to do with his nature, he didn't like denying people for silly reasons. At least to him, his anxiety about certain topics felt silly. A few seconds later, Reid took a step back and fished something out of the breast pocket of his cardigan. It might gross her out, but it was a few dead crickets.
HE held it out to the owl, who seemed content in eating it all in a mere split second. "I thought it would be nice to feed them something since they're traveling so far." he nervously chuckled. Reid brushed his hands and cleared his throat, turning around to face Aurelia with a bit of hesitation. "So, what uh - what did you want to know?" he asked with a smile. Reid rubbed his hands together to keep them warm, trying to dismiss the skepticism that knitted his brows together.
"Trouble usually finds me."
