Leaving Home

Hugo Arrived at Kings cross station just on time, his parent in tow following behind as he ran through the brick wall, all uncertainty leaving him.
As he stepped onto Platform 9 3/4, Hugo's eyes widened with wonder at the sight before him. The Hogwarts Express stood gleaming in the morning light, his excitement building with each passing moment. This was it; this was the start of his magical journey.
He turned to his parents, a beaming smile on his face. "Thank you so much for bringing me here," he said, hugging them both tightly. "I can't wait to see you at Christmas."
His parents smiled back at him, pride and love evident in their eyes. "We'll miss you, but we know you'll have the time of your life," his father replied.
With a final wave, Hugo boarded the train, his heart pounding with anticipation. He found an empty compartment, settled in, and watched excitedly as the train began to move, its wheels clacking rhythmically along the tracks.
But as the scenery outside began to blur, Hugo's excitement began to wane, replaced by a sense of conflicted emotions. While he had dreamed of attending Hogwarts for as long as he could remember, the reality of it all was starting to hit him.
He couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt as he thought of leaving his parents behind. They had sacrificed so much for him, and now he was off to pursue his own dreams while they remained behind, their lives unchanged. It felt selfish to be leaving them behind, even if it was just for a school year.
And then there was the fear. The fear of the unknown, of what lay ahead of him. Of meeting people he didn't know, of bullies and of homesickness. He wondered if he was truly ready for what was to come, if he was brave enough to face the challenges that lay ahead.
As his thoughts swirled around in his head, Hugo couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. Maybe he had made a mistake. What if he wasn't cut out for Hogwarts? He was just an ordinary wizard, with no remarkable talents like some of the students he had read about in books. What if he couldn't keep up with the others?
But then, as if in response to his doubts, something caught Hugo's eye outside the window. the majestic countryside, reminding him of home. Things were going to be alright. So he settled down, and sat still, watching the hills go by.

Leaving Home

For the most part, Hugo sat in silence for the ride on the Hogwarts Express, his head resting on his hand as he watched through the window, content to sit and daydream, occasionally stopping to write in his journal or draw.
He finally decided to take out his bag of books that he had brought along with him. He pulled out a large, tattered book titled Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The cover was made of a thick leather, which felt smooth against his fingertips as he opened it up. Inside were pages filled with vibrant drawings and descriptions of creatures from around the world, some familiar, and some completely unknown to Hugo. He was mesmerized by the detail in which each creature was described on the page, down to how many wings they have or how long their claws are.
The next book caught his eye - The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1. He looked through the few spells there, thinking about what kind of wizard he'd turn out to be as the train jolted to a stop - toppling all the books off of his lap and onto the floor. He rushed to pick them up and put his trunk back together before looking out the window and seeing that they have finally reached their destination.
Hugo stepped out of the compartment, grabbed his bags, and made his way out into the morning sunlight. This was going to be a great adventure.
