In his defense, Pyxis hadn’t noticed that the girl was sleeping when he’d given his loud greeting. He hadn’t even paid attention to her comfort as the words came spilling out his mouth. All he saw was the two shillouettes of people his height and the talkative nature in him was activated at once. There would have almost been no stopping him, but he did notice the girl on the bed stirring after his words, and it would have been rude of him to continue.

Of course, it was already rude of him to be yapping in the designated sleeping area, and the boy was shocked at what one day away from his parents had done to him. Was this what freedom felt like? The complete lack of inhibitions, the will to do whatever he wanted. He could be more unhinged than he had ever been and there’d be no adults to tell him off. He didn’t really like that, especially after noting the girl’s discomfort as slumber escaped her.

Turning his attention to the first year he recognized, Pyxis smiled at her quiet greeting. The girl seemed shy and avoidant, and he wondered how long it would take those types of kids to break out of their shells without their families doting on them. He could already see the evidence within himself. Preparing a whispered response to the girl, Pyxis was interrupted by the arrival of an older, red-haired boy who seemed to materilize right next to the trio. He immediately exerted authority over the pair of first years, and Pyxis had to hold back some of the frustration that was beginning to brew within him. The spoiled brat never took well to being told what to do, and this interaction was made worse by the fact that the boy chiding them was clearly a teenager and thus held no authority over the pair. Still, as annoying as it was to be told off, the boy had a point. These were the sleeping quarters after all.

“We’ll be seeing a lot of each other in classes then,” he whispered back to Yun-Xin. Ready to return to the common area, he was met with two new faces, both much older once again. There was a girl mumbling something in French, and his understanding of the language was rusty but he did recognize the mutters of a swear. This really was the land of no parents. His wide eyes were reset by the bravery of an Italian-accented boy wearing a rather fitting get-up. Yun-Xin then sailed past him, aiming for the gondolier’s pretty kitty.

The sleeping girl was sitting up by now, so Pyxis nodded after her introduction and said, “Sorry for waking you,” before walking past the gondolier and his French companion with a curt, “Hello!” and a smile, heading into the common area to await any new faces.

W ho was in charge of these cabin assignments?

Sylvie had half a mind to stalk out of the cabin this very instant and hex whoever was in charge into oblivion. Of course, she would not admit this to anyone, but she was not very confident in her spell-casting abilities. She would rather challenge them to a broom race, win, and kick them out of their own cabin to have one all to herself.

But, this was just a daydream. Instead of stalking over to the Hogwarts Headmaster, she was sitting on the top bunk of this horrible wooden hellhole, trying to write a letter back home and being bombarded by these random students who, for some reason, felt like they needed to talk to her.

Her head jerked up as she heard a stern Hey coming from across the room. It was a boy who looked a few years younger than herself, who seemed to be the one organizing the activities of the cabin. Her eyes shot up in surprise; she had not expected any of the students here to know French but this particular boy had shattered her expectations. Now why in the hell was he lecturing her? It was not like she had been screaming at the top of her lungs like some of the other younger students that were here.

She flashed a conniving grin toward the boy. "I'm sorry," she purred in English, "Why don't you mind your own business, hmm?" The girl appeared to be stirring anyway, so it wasn't like her verbal monologue had startled the girl out of her reverie. Sylvie turned back toward her letter. So far she had gotten to: Dearest family. It definitely left much to be desired. Maybe if everyone would just leave her alone, she could actually get some productive work done. But of course, the universe was out to spite Sylviane on this particular day, for as soon as she had dismissed the previous boy, another one had spawned in his place. This one hadn't come alone -- perhaps he had sensed Sylvie's rage boiling under the surface and was too intimidated to approach on his own -- as his cat had curled up on the bed as he walked over to stand next to Sylvie's bed.

She glared down at him, hoping that her gaze alone would make him disappear. But to her horror, he instead opened his mouth and began talking to her, asking nosy questions about her writing and her mood. Sylvie literally did not know how much more of this she could handle. She knew she had come here for the broom racing, but at this point, being stuck inside of this stuffy cabin with younger boys who would not leave her alone, she was on the brink of leaving. "Fucking hell," she whispered to herself before responding to the boy.

"What makes you think you can tell me what I can and cannot do?" she glowered toward the cat-boy. She paused, ready to tell him off some more and command him to go away, but it was too late. A horde of students was now clustered around the foot of her bed; the previously sleeping girl had joined and now there were other young girls as well. I wasn't aware this was going to be a babysitting job, Sylvie thought to herself as she surveyed the crowd. At least they all seemed to be too wrapped up in introductions with each other and cat-boy's cat to pay any attention to Sylvie. She turned, letting another young boy's (Pyxis's) greeting hang unacknowledged, angling herself away from the people to hopefully give the impression that she was not going to be bonding with any of these children.

the standard general psa: please interact with sylvie at your own risk; she will not hesitate to be scathingly rude to your character if she sees no value in forming a relationship with them that would somehow benefit her; but also please keep in mind that sylvie's thoughts/opinions in no way reflect my own as her writer. have a great day everyone!

EmmaLee speaks with a light French accent.
Open for interactions.

EmmaLee woke up that morning to a great, fluffy, white mass kneading her paws into the girl's chest. Minx slowly turned to face her master, blue eye to blue eye, pushing each paw into the 'ground', pulling up a bit of blanket, and putting it down with each step. When the cat was fully facing the girl, she sat down and gave an annoyed "Mew", tipping her fluffy head to the side as if to say, "You up now?"

The girl rubbed her eyes with delicate hands and murmured, "Ouais, d'accord, je suis debout. Je suis réveillé." Yeah, okay, I'm up. I'm awake. The girl had not intended to sleep so late and it was a good thing that not only had she packed everything to night before, but she also did not have a train to catch. She would be attending the Hogwarts summer camp for the second summer and this year it was held on grounds. That didn't really excuse the fact that she wasn't down there already but hey, a girl's gotta sleep. You know, until her obnoxious cat wakes her up.

As EmmaLee rose, Minx lightly leapt to the floor and took a patient place near the door as her girl got dressed in a light blue sundress and put her long white hair half up in two pigtails. EmmaLee took one more look around the room that had been hers for the better part of the past ten months and would be hers for the better part of the next six years before shouldering a dark blue bag with bright blue butterflies over her shoulder. She had opted to send most of her things home and only bring the necessary things to camp.

With an impatient yowl from Minx, EmmaLee hopped out the door and took off at a run towards the grounds, her significantly speedier companion leading the way.

EmmaLee grinned widely as they approached the Hogwarts campgrounds and saw the throng of people moving about. The run down here had filled the small girl with adrenaline and her cheek were pink with excitement despite her misgivings about returning to camp. The only good thing that had come from last year's camp was the friends she had made and the prospect of hanging out with them was really the only reason she was returning.

The pale girl obtained her cabin assignment and the two white beings, girl and cat, deftly wound their way through the crowd of students to approach the far oof Dragon Cabin. Once inside, it was definitely a sight to behold and EmmaLee highly approved. She was exited to see that there was a kitchen that she could utilize, Maybe they could have a dessert making night together. That is, if she got along as well with these students as she did with her tentmates last year.

As girl and cat casually padded into the cabin, they could tell that quite a few people had already arrived and there was already a high amount of activity. From the few in one corner chatting away, to a smaller group in another corner who seemed to have already started some kind of conflict if the girl (Sylviane) on the upper bunks attitude was any indication. Unfortunately, the bunk underneath this particular girl seemed to be one of the only bunks left. Well, maybe the girl only had a problem with the boy in front of her and would be open to conversing with EmmaLee.... or at least not opposed to sharing the bunk with her. The lilt in her voice and the muttered curse that could be heard across the cabin signaled that the girl was from Beauxbatons, so EmmaLee opted to speak in both of their native language to maybe further soften the interaction.

"Bonjour. Je ne veux pas déranger, mais il semble y avoir peu d'autres endroits où dormir, puis-je partager celui-ci?" Hello. I don't mean to bother, but there seems to be few other places to sleep, may I share this one? She asked, weaving around the others at the end of the bunk to get closer to the girl, interjecting her question quickly in a breath of silence between the two. EmmaLee had to stand on her tip toes and peer over the very bottom edge of the upper bed to even really see the other girl well. She just wanted to drop her stuff and explore to rest of the cabin. She was very much not looking to get involved in whatever was going on between this girl and the older boy at the end of her (their?) bunk. If she said no, EmmaLee might just opt for a bunk closest to the door and therefore a quicker access to other activities and her friends.

As her owner found a place for them to land, so to speak, Minx clung close to EmmaLee's ankles. The white fluff looked quizzically at the other feline (Figaro) in the room, keeping an eye on the creature for any indication that it would be hostile or friendly.

Calming Presence in Effect
Piérre's eyes glittered as the girl's eyes gleamed with rage. But why, he had to wonder? What in the world could be causing such irritation that it was worth spewing it at any given second of her current state of being? Was it something in the letter, perhaps, or was it the reason she was writing the letter? "I can't." He said simply with an owlish blink. "What I 'think' I can do is ask you if you want to talk about why you're so upset while writing a letter." He said brightly. "Which is yours to choose, but mine to at least suggest and offer." The boy indicated to the rest of the cabin, but most particularly towards how the sun was shining bright. "C'mon, the weather is so nice right now, life is yours to live, and there's opportunity around every corner; what could be so bad right now that's causing you to project on everyone else how upset you are?" Good questions, perhaps... but the true question was how it was that the girl was going to answer, if she would answer him at all.

Kneeling down on the ground and putting his chin on his hands as he leaned on the mattress, eyes still wide and searching as he focused on the French girl's, Piérre looked almost as pathetic (or cute, perhaps) as a dog begging for a taste of human food. Still, he was smiling, his full attention focused on the girl as his curiosities were continually piqued by the situation.

Distracted only by the request to pet his feline, Piérre glanced over to the younger student and gave her an affirmative reply. "Yeah! Go right ahead! He's a very good boy and he loves attention, just don't pull his tail or anything." He sang before returning his gaze back to the Frenchie. Indeed, even now Figaro was laying down with his eyes closed and tail flicking back and forth in delight that he had found a comfortable place to make his home. A purr deep in his throat and crackling with pleasure, he would melt into the girl's hand if she hit his 'hot-spots' of below the chin, behind the ear, and between the shoulderblades, the tail flicking faster as if 'wagging'.

At the approach of the other cat, a pure white creature, Figaro's green eyes would open slightly but his purr would never stop. Oh... there was another cat here. He could smell that it was a female, though body language implied that the critter was a bit apprehensive about approach. With a chirp-meow, Figaro paid the newcoming cat little mind; he didn't care nor was offended by her presence. So long as she didn't attempt to bat at him, there was no reason for him to bat back at her.

The Britalian began to hum tunelessly ever so slightly, closing his eyes as he relaxed ever so slightly and let the ambiance of the vicinity flow around him. What a cozy little cabin this was... yes, this would be a good summer. If it wasn't going to be a good summer on his own, he would make it a good summer for both himself and for everyone else involved. The first such person would be this young woman herself, either so that he could lighten her mood or perhaps reach the roots of her problem.

Piérre opened his eyes again and offered another smile. "Do you go to Beauxbatons?" He asked suddenly, perhaps even interrupting her if she was spewing distastes towards him. "What's it like there?"

─────────────────────────────────────── HOGWARTS ────────────

It was Saturday, July 1st, 2023.

Barely one day after it had happened to him. It had only been a few hours but had felt like an eternity.

Kim couldn't go home, he'd already told his parents he'd be attending Hogwarts's summer camp. Even though he wasn't in charge of anything this time. But he also didn't want to be here. Not after what had just happened to him. Lost, he'd changed his hair color to black to suit his current mood, instead of the passionate red he'd done for the month. He'd probably change it again this month, because settling on something didn't sit well with him. He didn't want to settle. Settling meant accepting and accepting meant....

After everything that had happened to him over the past year... this was too much. It was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. Kim was quiet, too quiet, although he'd always been rather reserved and quiet unless he was the leader or co-leader of a club. He followed the guide towards the cabin he'd be staying inside for the month and silently opened the door, backpack slung haphazardly over his shoulder. Kim knew he was late to the 'party' but he didn't care. There would be space for him. After all, there had been signups.

He didn't care who his bunkmate was.

All that mattered was to make sure they didn't have a cat with them. Sure, Kim could take his allergy potion.

But he didn't like depending upon potions too much. If he could do without them, that would be better. Still, the likelihood of there being no cats in the cabin was really low because cats were popular amongst students. He'd probably need to take a potion beforehand. So at the time he'd entered the Dragon Cabin, Kim had downed one of his allergy potions to protect himself from any felines inside. Lucky he'd done so, because the moment he stepped into the place, he could see a cat wandering about inside. Thankfully, it hadn't seen him.

Or else there was a high chance it would zoom over to him and try to love him to death. Most cats tended to do this to him. Kim wasn't sure why because he tried to make sure they knew he didn't like them. But it seemed as if when you liked something, they would stay away from you. However, if you didn't like something, they would flock to you. Made no sense. Kim glanced around, taking in the theme of the cabin. It was better than some of the other cabins he'd seen. Normally, he'd have been intrigued by the layout inside.

But right now...

He wasn't in the mood to do much of anything, other than simply remain alone. Being alone was good.

It meant no one and nothing could ever hurt him again. Kim looked around and spotted one of the only bunk beds that looked to be empty for now. It was a bottom one. He went towards it and shrugged his backpack off, it being the only thing he'd brought with him. The nearly fourteen year old had already shipped his trunk home. All he had with him was his backpack. Not bothering to greet anyone, Kim simply got into his bunkbed and closed his eyes. He wasn't sure if he wanted to stay inside or go out. But he wanted to be alone.
