Nico dragged his trunk up the two steps and through the door to the kelpie cabin. The sitting area was decorated normally enough for Nico's taste, although he could do without all the color. To him, color was a waste of time, why should things people overlook and disregard be colorful, yet the things people focus most on be bland?
He pulled his trunk into one of the bedrooms that nobody had put their stuff in yet and dropped it on the floor. The bedroom was tasteful yet simple, Nico liked it. The room was just what it was meant to be, a bedroom, for sleeping and hiding away in. Just what he wanted.
Nico knelt next to his trunk and opened it up. He pulled out his wand, sleek and shiny cherry wood with a unicorn hair core. He pocketed his wand, you never know when you need it, the students attending summer camp could be unpredictable. After all, chaos was not unfamiliar to the students at Hogwarts.
Next, he pulled out a book his mother had sent him via owl just a week before, Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. It was a present for Nico surviving his first year at Hogwarts. He looked at the book longingly, but no, he promised his mother he would try and make some friends at camp. Nico stood, placed the book on one of the top bunks, and cautiously walked out of the room.
He walked over to one of the couches and sat down on one of the arms, glancing around warily. Until something caught his eye- no, not something, someone. It was Ava Winchect, Duvessa's best friend, also, an attempted murderer. "Oh shit."

With every minute, more and more students began to come into the cabin. But none of them were familiar to her. What in the living hell was this for her last summer at camp? She was with no one she knew and was without her significant other. As she was sulking, she saw the boy who entered first come sit down next to her.
When he mentioned that it could be worse, Bloom couldn't help but to raise her eyebrows and look at the young boy. "Oh really?" she asked, giving him a time of day. Although young, he did seem the closest in age to her compared to the first and second years who walked in. Bloom blushed instantly at his thought about Howard thinking about her and always by her side. It was true that within their athletic schedule, they often try to be with each other at all times. They were the power couple of the school-- at least Bloom thought them to be at least. They were front page of the school's newspaper in their February issue for how perfect they were together.
"Oh? You weren't placed with your girlfriend, too? Who the hell made the rosters anyways?" Bloom sighed and watched some of the first and second years awkwardly trying to converse with each other. Bloom hadn't picked out her bed like some of them. She didn't even want to sleep here, no matter how lovely decorated the cabin was.
"Who's your girlfriend?" she asked, wondering if she knew her. Actually, if they happened to be in the same cabin as Howard, would it be possible to do a switch. But even that wouldn't work because of magic. There was definitely going to be something binding knowing how things work here. After nearly seven years, Bloom was a professional.
"I'm Bloom Silverton by the way," she said, not putting a hand out, but just moving her head that had been leaning back against the back of the couch towards him. Her body slouched, taking in the couch. Her arms were crossed. If she was going to be stuck in a cabin with random people, she might as well be slightly social with at least one person to make it bearable.

Portkeys were the quickest way to travel throughout the wizarding world- something Mat had found out when he had learned about the summer camp at Hogwarts. Asking a teacher at Beauxbatons why they were touching some random object and why students were disappearing definitely made him cringe- he would've been better off just shrugging off the logic instead of facing the embarrassment of asking.
He still wasn't entirely sure why he had decided to come to Hogwarts for the summer camp, it was unlike him to want to stay at school any longer than he was expected of. At first, he agreed just because there were no Beauxbatons teachers staying at the summer camp, a bonus in his eyes. The other reason was because he had heard a few of his friends were going.
Though if he knew he was going to be bunked with a bunch of randoms he didn't know, he definitely would've chosen to stay home. Hell, he didn't even recognize most of the students fraternizing with each other even before he had gotten to the dorm. Mat had already begun to regret his trip and it hadn't even started.
Once he had sat down in the 'living' room of the cabin, he found himself internally shrinking. Much like the trip itself, it was unlike him to not interact with anyone in the room but- he literally didn't recognize anyone. There were a few older students, though their faces were partially obscured due to his blindness, and there were a few students that seemed to be around his age.
There was something clearly wrong, if Mat wasn't talking to anyone. Even if it was just a face, he should meet some of his cabinmates and scope out the situation.
"Hey." He called, walking up to a young girl who looked to be about his age. She was much taller than him, but that applied to quite a few people he knew, so not a big problem. "I'm Mat, from Beauxbatons." A placid smile played on his lips as he held out his hand. The chattering of the older students danced in and out of his ears, and his smile faltered, if for only a moment.
"Talkative crew we've got, yeah?"

Could be worse he claimed. In fact, it could always be worse. He had seen some pretty bad times here at Hogwarts and being separated from ones paramour was really nothing more than a minor inconvenience in his opinion. Did he want to share a cabin with her? Of course, even if she was a bit (lot) smothering. She had her uses and her diversion, she also set off all sorts of people and he admittedly loved every second of their agitation.
"Oh really?"
"Well, probably," he admitted. "Sometimes it is good to have a space that is all yours and not something to share," he admitted. "Unless," and this is where the insecurity should set in for most. "You can't trust them with their own space. Like they would leave or be taken away by someone else." Not that he knew Howard White from a hole in the wall, nor did he care. Or so he thought. He actually would recognize the name, know the face. He was a quidditch fan and Howard was a core member of the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team. This was more a diversional activity for his entertainment being wrapped up in a nice package as if to say he was being amicable and social. she asked, giving him a time of day. But she was totally, probably fine and he would express that. It was him that should totally be worried. His girlfriend was off in some cabin with probably some far too interested or friendly sort making small talk with her right now.
"Oh? You weren't placed with your girlfriend, too? Who the hell made the rosters anyways?"
She sighed. "Someone who hates joy I am certain," Mathias replied.
"Who's your girlfriend?"
That was a good question. "Winnie Harper," he replied. Maybe this girl knew her, she had a Hogwarts accent. That is, an accent that shown traces of the regions served by the United Kingdom's Ministry. "Pretty loud, real bright" he places his hands a few inches away from his head. "Lots of red hair." It was a pretty accurate description of the Ravenclaw.
"I'm Bloom Silverton by the way," she added.
"Mathias, but most people call me Matt," he replied. "Whose your boyfriend anyways?"
"Oh really?"

Rosella looked at the girl with a soft smile on her face. Clearly this girl had not been to Hogwarts often enough to know the dangers that lurked around every corner of the strange castle. "Hogwarts will be an experience every time you come, I don't think there is ever a time that it will be normal." She could remember the times that she had been to the school in the past and none of them were super great memories. Yes, she had made friends while there but she had also not talked to said friends in quite a long time either.
Hearing the younger girl as if she was enjoying herself, Rosella had to actually think for a moment. She wouldn't think she was, nothing was really happening so far but it had also not been awful yet. "I would not say I am enjoying myself, but things are not awful either. I am hoping to have time to sit down later and draw for a bit." Quickly, she made sure her bag was still where it had been set down, not wanting to lose all of her art supplies.
"Would you like to come introduce yourself to the others with me? We might as well get to know them if we are going to be in the same cabin." Rosella wouldn't mind if the younger girl said no, but it would be easier to introduce herself to people if there was someone else with her to also introduce.

───────────────────────────────────────────────Having put off the trek to his assigned cabin for a few more stolen moments away from potential chaos, Nikolai hesitantly enters what is to be a temporary home for the next month. He takes in the sight that greets him with no small amount of trepidation. Momentarily observing the décor and some of the early arrivals already milling about the space helps to ease some of the nervous anticipation. Even more so with the sight of two other Koldovstoretz students already settling in.
Nikolai steps further into the cabin to free up the doorway, dragging his luggage off to one corner where it's out of the way for the time being. A moment of consideration passes before he shuffles his way over towards the familiarity of his schoolmates. Though he would be hard pressed to admit it aloud, time spent on Hogwarts' grounds left him unnerved. While it could simply be chalked up to the fact that these visits had been the only time he'd ever spent away from Russia, Hogwarts itself was also just...something else.
The boy raises a hand in greeting and adopts a small smile as he approaches the two girls. While Nikolai knew Rosella from their time with the Hexwizard, he only had passing familiarity with the other girl despite being closer in age. He was at least fairly certain her name was Roksana, though. "Have to say, it's good to see some familiar faces," he starts with in lieu of a verbal greeting.────────────────────────────────

River grunted, She did not want to be social. No it was dangerous to be social, if you stayed away from everyone in your dorm no one could hurt you. Yet somehow the French girl found herself standing on British soil again at this cursed school. It had been her father and mother who had convinced her to go this time. She knew they worried about her lack of social time, but that's how she liked it.Writing as NPC River Fayre.
In the past few months River had maintained only one real contact outside her family and that person was not even from her school. At school she had managed to only talk when she was asked a question or when she needed to defend herself. Not talking felt safe, and in the past few years she had felt the extra need to be safe. But here she was, standing in front of the cabin she had been assigned to for the summer still feeling as if she was about to throw up after the Portkey.
The French girl took a deep breath and tried to remember what her mother had said 'My sweet, You don't need to make many friends just try to get out there and have some fun. If not for you then for me.' It hurt to think that she was worrying her parents, but since when had she cared about her parents? Let alone what they thought. And since she had not even tried to do that during the school year, why not try during the summer camp?
The teen pushed open the cabin door. Maybe she could take a little danger after all what could a bunch of teenagers do? If she kept her grief and anger under control then maybe the summer would be fun, maybe she could see her friend again.
She nodded to the others who were inside the cabin but tried to not speak to them, if that would even be possible (feel free to torture her by talking to her). She found a spot and stuck her stuff. She then sat there awkwardly hoping to stay un noticed.

Roksana thought hard about the insight on Hogwarts experiences that Rosella had shared. "Well, I guess you're right," she said. "I always thought of Hogwarts as the place where everything happens, and not always for the better. But, we are wizards, it's an occupational hazard, I guess." After all, being a wizard(Roksana did not like using the term witch, it really didn't matter to her)was no easy or even safe thing. Magic was a gift, but sometimes, well...sometimes, things occasionally went wrong.
Not that Roksana was worried about that, though. She was here to have a good time, occupational hazards or not. She nodded at Rosella's next words empathetically, but then she became rather intrigued. "Draw?" She inquired, cocking her head at Rosella. To be honest, Roksana wasn't much of an art person, and she couldn't draw decent to save her life. She wasn't very curious about it though, so she didn't say anything more about it.
However, when Rosella asked if she and Roksana go introduce themselves to the rest of their cabin, Roksana was a little hesitant. "Wait, but- oh, fine...I guess it's better if I know my cabinmate's names at the very least..." After all, she'd be eating, sleeping, and basically living with these people for a whole month. Sigh..."But, I'm only doing small talk if they happen to know enough decent English, Russian, or Bulgarian," Roksana added, still speaking to Rosella.
She felt more relaxed in the unfamiliar cabin when she finally saw another familiar face. It was a boy whom Roksana recognised from Koldovstoretz, Nikolai. "Oh, hi," said Roksana half-heartedly. She wanted to get to know her cabinmates, she really did, but she was so tired, all she wanted to do was throw her stuff on a bunk, jump onto it, and then bury her face in it. But she was planning to do that later, it was still early, so mingle now, snore later.
"It looks like three's a crowd by this point. Do you want to join us?" Roksana asked, addressing Nikolai. In a cabin full of unfamiliar adolescents, she really wanted to stay with people she recognised for the time being.

@Simon Kincaid @Mathias Pride @Bloom Silverton @Tristan Theramin1 July, 2023 - First day of Summer Camp
A happy, anticipatory smile was plastered on her face. The last few days before term's end had been a whirlwind. She and Simon had buckled down hard on their studies for exams and they both had done excellently. Maybe best of all was that news had come late in the term that Howard White was stepping down as Hufflepuff Prefect which left an opening. Simon had been pestering her, in the best and most convincingly of ways, to apply, so she did. She did it, quite honestly, only because she saw it, if she were chosen, as a way to spend more time with him. He made his Prefect patrols sound so much fun and when he talked of them patrolling together, she was nearly beside herself.
They had both been looking forward to being able to spend even more time together now that summer camp was upon them and they did not have to concern themselves with classes or studies. They had heard that last summer the tents had been co-ed and you could pick your lodgings, so they both assumed that would be the case this year as well. It was that assumption in mind, and more than her fair share of love struck longing, that propelled AngelFyre onward as she entered the Kelpie cabin. Instead of seeing happy faces, let alone any really familiar faces... especially that one hoped-for-face-in-particular... AngelFyre was greeted with a sullen crew.
She looked around briefly and recognized more than a few people, all of them Hogwarts students. She knew none of them, however, especially none of the foreign students. Though she did not know her personally, AngelFyre was very interested in seeing Bloom Silverton sitting on a sofa. The upperclasswoman likely would have no idea who AngelFyre was, but as she knew Howard White to be a dhampir, and Bloom to be his girlfriend, AngelFyre felt a certain, undefined kinship with the girl. Simon was not as "out" about his dhampirism as Howard was, not yet anyway, but she did know he had a great amount of respect for Howard.
She had her enchanted satchel over one shoulder and had levitated her trunk before her the whole way from her dorm room down to the cabin. She had gotten the idea from Colin a while back at the last Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw game. The boy was just brilliant sometimes. Knowing her trunk was safely down, she smiled at everybody, at least those whose backs were not turned towards her, and offered a general "Hello, everyone," to her cabin mates. Her smile and hope was not completely obliterated. She spied a piece of parchment on the coffee table, at the foot of a dour-looking, red haired boy. Perhaps it was a roster of names. Simon could already be here, she thought, possibly even securing the two of them their sleeping arrangements. Heck, he might just have gotten hung up with another of Rascal's antics and was on his way right this second.
She looked around the room again, still smiling at everyone, and continued, "I am AngelFyre McCubbin, but please call me AF." As no one raced to introduce themselves, ocean blue eyes trained themselves upon the piece of parchment once again. She moved towards it with quite a lot of confidence and reached for it before it occurred to her that she may have wanted to ask the boy on the sofa about it before simply picking it up. Oh well. Too late now.
She let her eyes scan over it quickly and she smiled as it was, indeed, the cabin roster. She moved down the list of names, coming to hers before Simon's and when she reached the end, his name had been nowhere to be found. She went right back to the top and read it again, the leaden lump in her throat making its way down to her belly with each name she read over that was not his.
"Dang it. We... I ...thou ...." and her voice trailed off. The last thing she uttered was a barely discernible "together." Looking back up, she cleared her throat and decided, even if a vain effort, she was going to try to remedy this untenable situation.
"Excuse me, everyone. Pardon my interruption, yet again, but I was looking for one name in particular to show up on this cabin's roster. Since it appears to not be here, I was wondering if I could persuade someone... anyone... here to change cabins with my fellow once I find out where he is bunking. If you care to do it out of the goodness of your heart, great... but I am not above offering a bribe if need be," and she smiled.
Looking more closely at everyone, she finally was able to take in a boy in a green suit. "Very bold choice in a suit color. Love it." She looked around once again. "Any takers?"

Interacting with @Mathias Pride & @AngelFyre McCubbinBloom wasn't a perfectionist, but the thought that nothing was going her way so far was what was killing her. Her new acquaintance, Matt, seemed nice, but it wasn't enough for her to feel like the summer was going to be fun. She wanted to snuggle and spend the last remaining minutes as a free teenager with the love of her life. And yet, here she was on the couch, hating everything.
Though his words seem to have some wisdom in them. Having a space that is all to herself can be helpful. But that means both her and Howard had to go the extra mile to figure out how to stay with each other throughout the day. As for who to trust, Bloom knew she could trust her Damphir. It was just others she was worried about. He was the MVP of Quidditch, the Hexwizard Champion and above all, a good-looking Seventh Year. What's not to like about him?
"I've never met Winnie. Sounds like a great person," she said, referencing his characteristics for her. "My boyfriend is Howard White," she said. "Extremely caring, super hot," she said, sharing her characteristics of him. Bloom was about to ask Matt another question about Winnie when someone had made an announcement to the entire cabin about the attendance. They were obviously two minutes behind.
"Even if you were to find someone to change, my experience is that the roster is a forced stay. I doubt it would let anyone into any cabin," she said to the girl, remembering years in the past. Bloom remembered when she was cabined with Erin Ryan, the crazy Seventh Year Slytherin. She wanted to switch cabins and was told she could not. "Words advise from this guy: use the space to your advantage," she said, shrugging. Even though she said it, Bloom surely did not want it to happen herself.
