Following a quick stroll down to the campgrounds with their belongings - or getting a portkey directly to Hogsmeade, students were escorted directly to the Campgrounds and registered again. It was, at this stage that they were given the rules for the month. These were pretty obvious but they were stated again by Professor Jensen, simply because she did not trust students to listen. She also wanted to be sure that the visiting students did not have the excuse of being 'unaware' of the rules. Where necessary, the accompanying adults from each of the schools would repeat the rules in their school's language for people who didn't have English as their first language.
Camp rules were very simple. Obey the curfew, follow usual school rules, don't wander off into the forest, don't be a giant jerk - you know, all of the usual things. Failure to comply would result in a detention, or worse, banned from attending future camps.
Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.
Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.
During registration, they also all received their cabin allocations. Students were then escorted to the cabins by an adult and given some time to put their bags down, secure themselves a bed and settle into the accommodation that they would be staying at for the month. The first event was ready too - students were able to attend the sugar fair once they had settled in.
The group of students that arrived here would be the members of the Unicorn Cabin.
Unicorn
A house of nightmares to some students, burning retinas to others or perhaps just a bundle of joy. A few students, at some point, exposed the Professors to the muggle representation of unicorns. It was a mistake. This technicolour nightmare - for some - tells you that not everything is art, but it is pretty neat. Other students would likely think it was heaven, it really depends on who you ask or who was lucky (or unlucky) enough to be housed here.
Crawlspaces and nooks can be found throughout this place. [Image Link] There is no large, communal space for gatherings but rather small areas found by trap door, a strange out of place ladder or at the end of a meandering tunnel that students would find themselves in. [Image Link] The bedrooms are almost as comfortable as advertised, however they do in fact resemble clouds when laid upon. [Image Link] Each room is private but there is no space for much besides the king sized bed (only one per bed, we check) and the closet that each student fills with their belongings.

At 10:00, the girl was standing in front of the cabin lists. She was hoping to be in the Augurey or the Thestral cabin. When Anastasia found her name, she had to blink a few times to realise what she just read.
— You've got to be kidding me!
Her good mood of earlier was something quite unusual and it was gone. At least I'll only have to be there at night. She was the first to arrive to the cabin, so she was the first to choose her room. She obviously got the closest one to the exit door.
— The only good thing in here: we get our own rooms.
Anastasia sighed when she entered her room. The ceiling was made of flashy colourful stripes, this was the opposite of the Ravenclaw's aesthetic. The girl gently put her spider on the bed and dropped her suitcase on the opposite side of the king-size bed. A few minutes later, the third year's summer clothes were in the closet, a few books were on the bedside table, and the flashy lights were off, replaced by 10 magical candles.
Now, Lady Arachne was making her web in a corner while Anastasia was exploring that very colourful cabin.

Erin has just entered hell. Magical, fluffy, technicolored hell. She would enter the cabin and regret it immediately as her retinas were seared with a barrage of bright colors. She was rather certain she was allergic and would soon break out into hives. She looked behind her, she had options like the woods, a comfortable rock, maybe even a ditch someplace. The reason so many people were found in ditches was most assuredly because it was the most comfortable site one could rest their laurels in the wild.
She did have her trunk, it was full of... stuff. Nothing special, but her trunk was hardly waterproof and there would be rain eventually. As such she begrudgingly entered and the wind pushed the door shut behind her. where was she supposed to go now? It was like some cruel playhouse for adults. She would get on her knees, not that she was attired for acting like a toddler, and crawl through a passageway that was not well enough lit for her comfort and take a blind turn. This was very dangerous, who knows what could be hiding behind these trap doors, sharp corners and poorly lit corridors she mentally complained.
She would find a bedroom eventually, well a 'cloud' to sleep on and she would hurl her suitcase in the middle. There, it was done. Her suitcase would be protected from the elements, she needed to move on from here.
Back to the ground, she had forgotten her way and would find herself lost in the maze-like catacomb that was the Unicorn House. "Hey? HELLO! Anyone else in here. Which way is out?" Her likely slightly muffled voice would call out.

Danielle didn't know what to expect, before walking into her assigned cabin. But whatever it was, she was definitely not expecting a child's rainbow unicorn playroom stuffed inside a labyrinth structure. There was no common area, and as she ventured deeper inside, she found that everything was connected by strangely placed ladders and suspiciously small tunnel things. Were they supposed to live the lifestyle of rats in here?
When she had heard she would be in the unicorn cabin, she had expected, like, you know, actual unicorn themed stuff, instead of the muggle unicorn stuff.
Danielle suddenly wished she had brought a pair of sunglasses. The colors were giving her a headache. Literally.
But alas, it was against the rules to go to another cabin, so she had no choice but to continue dragging her trunk and try to find a room to stay in.
After crawling through a tunnel, Danielle finally spotted a door. Unfortunately for her, though, it was at the top of a staircase.
"Stairs?" she grumbled. "I thought I was done with those after Hogwarts."
She hauled her trunk up the steps, and set it down on the floor next to her bed. Danielle's lips formed a tight line when she realized the bed was supposed to resemble a cloud. Danielle, who had an interest for photography, certainly knew that this was not how clouds looked like. She sighed. How she wished she could bail out and sleep in the forest. Even that would be preferable. Looking around, she could not find a light switch for any of the strange cloud lights, so she went around, saying "nox" and pointing her wand at them. Darkness would be preferred to having a migrane and severely damaged eyesight.
Once she had all her stuff organized, she stepped out of the room and closed the curtain behind her. She did not want to be reminded of the hellhole she would be staying in for the next month. Below her, she saw an older Slytherin student, perhaps in sixth or seventh year, demanding directions to the exit.
"I think it might be that way," she offered, pointing at a medium sized hole in the wall. She did not like how small it was, especially since it had seemed pretty big when she entered. If you asked her, Danielle would say the whole place was making her rather claustrophobic.

Ginyami was, like many of the other occupants assigned to the Unicorn cabin, not amused. The colors were too bright and the space itself reminded the fifth year of a child's play area. As if that wasn't enough, there was only one person on the Unicorn cabin's list that Ginyami knew personally and he wasn't exactly thrilled to be sharing a cabin with him: Romeo Marchonné. Well, maybe he could make the most of it and try to make certain Romeo ended up more miserable than he was by the end of camp. Merlin knew he deserved it after what he had put Valentin through.
When he entered the cabin, though, the Japanese student only found two girls there. One seemed younger than him and the other seemed older. Neither seemed any more enthused to be there than he was. The older one was yelling bloody murder about which way was out and frankly, Ginyami couldn't blame her. What kind of mad infant had designed this place?
"The exit is this way," he sighed, standing uncertainly by the doorway of the cabin. If it was that tricky to escape the labyrinth of tunnels and crawlspaces, did he even dare leaving the entrance to search for a bedroom?
"I'm Ginyami Midorimori, by the way," he introduced himself to whomever was in earshot. It seemed like the polite thing to do. "Who else is in here?"
Oh...there was another girl. Ginyami offered her a wry smile and held up his hand in greeting.

This was awful. Well, maybe not awful, awful- Xailah had seen some pretty bad things during her time at Hogwarts- but this cabin was definitely in her "top twenty" list. Hopefully it wasn't to speak for how her summer would be going, because the cabin sortment wasn't the most reassuring or promising start to things. Whoever was responsible of decorating the space needed to have their creative privileges revoked permanently, because this was an abomination to the world of home décor and interior design. You'd never see a place like this on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens.
Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad, but if Xailah had the option to take it or leave it... well, she probably would have left it. To be completely fair, it was better than sleeping outside. With that consideration, there was no need to further look this gift unicorn in the mouth.
And, hey, at least it had some neat crawlspaces and trapdoors to explore. So... it had that going for it.
Less than pleased with the living arrangement (but willing to tolerate it for the time being), Xailah began to skillfully make her way up a ladder, found near the entrance to the multicolored hellhole, that had been taunting her to climb it. Hearing some movement close by, there was a moment where she paused her ascension and looked into a nearby room to see someone was already making themselves at home. They had the right idea to do some minor redecoration too. Interest would be piqued when the girl placed something small on her bed- a spider, the lioness observed. Charming. Seeing the arachnid summoned a light bubble of laughter from her chest. She had always been particularly fond of all insects. "Oh look, she brought a little friend." Xailah turned slightly, apparently to talk to someone directly behind her, before continuing her journey upward.
Beloved companion, Schrödinger, was seated in a bag strapped securely to his keeper's back. And frankly, he cared little to hear of this "friend" his lady was trying to tell him about. If he couldn't eat it, then he wasn't interested at the moment. While the cat had been squirming around for most of the walking journey, he knew to be still while the ladder was traversed. But once his lady found footing on a new floor of the cabin, he was back to rolling and wiggling- begging to be released from the sack-prison he had been confined to for his own safety and comfort.
Even if he had begged to be put in the thing to begin with.
Not deaf to the cat's wishes, Xailah would let him out of the bag to wander a bit, once the two found a room not yet occupied by other campers. The living quarters they settled for were spacious, and was one with less of a eye-sore color scheme... which was not saying much. At the rooms corner sat a square plate with a handle- fairly well hidden, but evidently not enough to keep these curious cats away from it. After setting their belongings down, both pet and owner would gather around the small panel, having heard shouting from under it. Naturally, they had to investigate.
Because god forbid they ever leave things alone.
A firm yank would pry the panel open, but it would also send Xailah tumbling through it, in an act of uncharacteristic gracelessness, into a hall below the room. In turn, her cat stared below, bewildered over what had just happened. The Gryffindor hadn't the time to be shocked or even stunned, the mishap happened so fast. All she knew was that one moment she was opening a door, and she was falling the next.
Fortunately, it wasn't a very far tumble. Well, not far for her- being a broom racer and all- she had toppled from much higher. The impact still winded her all the same. Even then, that still didn't stop her from delivering a greeting to the halls occupant. Or, well, occupants... if they could be called such; while they weren't immediately seen, she heard other voices trying to play guide for fellow cabin members who had apparently gotten themselves lost. "Hallo... Erin-" Xailah groaned gutturally, fairly certain for a moment that she had broken something. "-And company." It didn't take long for her to recover to her feet; and it took far less time for Schrödinger to jump down through the (now open) trapdoor to join the party. "Was it you making all that noise, miss Ryan?"
Brushing herself off, Xailah was quickly enveloped in a light grimace as she glanced around the maze-like space. "My god." She muttered dryly, her attention suddenly focused toward the ceiling she had dropped from. "I wonder if this is what Dante saw when he traversed the nine circles of hell." This cabin certainly felt like a reenactment of the tale.
Cat and keeper would try to make their way closer to the voice that was allegedly near the exit of the cabin. "What is your name, O Guiding One? I have not heard your voice before." Once the voice provided the name- Ginyami- Xailah would return the favor when it proceeded to ask who else was present. "Schrödinger and Xailah Alptraum. We are with Erin Ryan. There was another girl I saw in one of the rooms near the entrance of the cabin. I did not catch her name. And I think there is someone else around." Xailah called, stooping near the entrance of a small crawlspace in one of the many walls. "It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Midorimori. Or, well, hear you, I suppose."
Xailah has claimed her bed and is trying to make her way out of the cabin with Schrödinger. Feel free to stop/interact with her or Schrö though.

Oh, no. Madi thought, walking into her cabin. It was a mess of color and madness, and Madi hated it. She'd expected a nice, rustic cabin, somewhere that looked like it actually belonged in a camp. This was not it.
She could only think of one person who would like this cabin, and it was her little sister, who was two. Did a two year old design this cabin? Who else would think campers would actually enjoy this?
Madi suddenly realized just how much of a maze this cabin was. There were ladders and secret passageways. She was frustrated with the thought of being exhausted all day after camp and having to climb ladders to get to bed.
Madi looked around and realized there were a few people in the cabin with her. She smiled at them and gave a little wave. She then started to climb the stairs she had seen others take, and could only hope it was the way to the bedrooms.
Sure enough, it was. Madi found an unoccupied one and entered. "Seriously?" she muttered. The room looked like a cloud. Not like a real cloud, though. Madi was tempted to sleep outside. She liked camping, and she certainly did not like this.
"Now, how do I get out?" she asked herself quietly.

*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*It was the first of July, and thus the first day of summer camp. Ruby felt neutral about it—it would probably be fun enough, but dealing with all those people in even closer quarters was not her favorite idea. Still, it was better than being under her parents’ eye for the whole two months of summer, so she had to just accept it. In all the stress and busyness of OWLs season, she even hadn’t checked how many of her friends were attending camp this year, and the uncertainty left her in a less than ideal mood for the first day of summer.
She was escorted to the cabin she would be occupying for the next month—the Unicorn cabin. Unicorns were rare and beautiful creatures, so surely the cabin would be equally beautiful. She was quickly proven wrong. “What in Merlin’s name?!” she exclaimed through gritted teeth as she entered. You’ve got to be kidding me. “Wait, I can’t stay here–” she protested, but the adult that had escorted her was already gone. Shit.
The cabin was obnoxiously bright, colorful, and childish. It looked like rainbow unicorn vomit. She loathed whatever professor had thought this was a good fucking idea. They weren’t even granted the decency of corridors, instead there were tunnels and crawlspaces. What the hell. Skilled, pureblood witches like her shouldn’t be reduced to having to perform such demeaning acts. Anger bubbled within her as she reluctantly crawled her way to an open room—if she could even call it open, it was damn cramped; available was the only fitting word—and claimed it. I swear, I’ll hex whoever did this. I’ll make them pay for this. This has to be a joke. They’ll turn up with our actual cabin assignments and it will all be fine… But she knew it wasn’t going to happen.
To make it worse, people started shouting, looking for the way out. “Fuck off! Figure it out yourself!” she yelled through the wall. Typically, she would have at least tried to be polite, but she was so furious about this that she needed to take it out on someone. Her anger was threatening to burst. After making sure her cat Apollo would stay in the room for now, she left. She stormed back to near the entrance, figuring that was where these voices were coming from, wanting to make sure that they shut up. If she had to be here, she wanted it to at least be quiet.
She knew where the entrance was, since she had come from it and had paid extra attention to the directions she had been moving in on her way to her room. So, soon she was standing near the boy who had said his name was Ginyami Midorimori, opening her mouth to say something when she heard a familiar voice. “Xailah? You’re stuck in this hellscape too?” she called. She chose to ignore the fact that her friend had mentioned Erin Ryan—along with Ryan being the Slytherin team’s most brutal Beater, Ruby had also had an odd encounter with the older girl back in her second year. That day being the return of a soaked Thomas Lestrange had made it unforgettable, and Ryan had been hostile and rude towards Ruby because she had some sort of grudge against prefects. No matter. Ruby didn’t intend to hang around here a lot.
Xailah had said that it was a pleasure to meet Midorimori, but Ruby couldn’t say the same. Nothing about this cabin and these circumstances was a fucking pleasure.*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*

Erin would find a girl, she did not know the girl but she hardly paid attention to her peers. She looked pretty young anyways, this time it was probably not her fault. Mercifully she pointed towards a tunnel that Erin was not sure she recognized or that she had traversed through before. It was a claustrophobic tunnel that led into darkness. She was already lost, so it was not like there was a quantity of being lost. She could not get 'more lost.'
She would crouch low and crawl through the tunnel, Pushing at her skirt with her hand to make sure it did not go in unfortunate places. She should have wore sweat pants to camp, it was not like there was anyone here to impress.
She would emerge from the crawlspace in front of some Asian fellow. "The exit is this way," he sighed. The indication was the door by his side.
"Thank Merlin," a slightly disheveled part Veela would announce. Her hair wild from her journey through the play land as she pointed towards the door for confirmation. "Nothing about that place makes any sense," she warned.
"I'm Ginyami Midorimori, by the way," he added.
She was never going to pronounce that right. She was about to share her name when something came tumbling from above.
"Who else is in here?"
"Some young girl on the other side of that hole," she pointed towards the tunnel she had escaped. A nearby dull thud, the sound of Xailah falling from a height in this padded playpen, every sharp corner apparently wrapped in some sort of metaphorical bubble wrap. She was left winded but uninjured.
"Hallo Erin," a voice called out. While she knew Erin's name, Ern did not really know hers despite the numerous classes that they had taken together. "-And company." Her very large, sorta grumpy looking cat would hop down after her.
She was "Prefect cat lady," she introduced the Asian navigator. She recognized the pet rather easily and she knew of Xailah but in truth she had never had a sane interaction (on Erin's part) with the Prefect. So the Gryffindor was more like a strange sense of Déjà vu personified for the girl.
"Was it you making all that noise, miss Ryan?"
Was it? She was not sure and for a second the color would drain from her face. She only said one sentence. "Maybe, I'm not sure," she admitted. "I only remember asking the way out once." Xailah would take care of the introductions, Erin really lacked a head for that sort of thing these days. She was not much of a talker.
A girl, Madi, would walk past the two, no three of them and disappear down one of the tunnels or up one of the ladders. She would suffer a similar fate, lost in the depths of the Unicorn cabin. Unbeknownst to them, search parties would likely become routine as well as the buddy system. It was fine, but she should have warned her to toss breadcrumbs or something. A short time later, a pissed off Prefect (she did not recall the ex part) would tromp back towards the exit. She would not have even recognized her cat had it still been with her, admittedly not as iconic. They shared a house, maybe at some point a sporting team. Maybe, she could not be sure. "Other prefect," Erin gestured towards Ruby. Xailah forgot one. She forgot to introduce the miserable one.
"How are we going to make sure that we find our way out," Erin inquired not at all concerned about Ruby's mood or the likely man that had caused it. "Also, are you my chaperone?" She asked Xailah. Yes, hers specifically. There was probably an adult or two somewhere in here, hiding under a beanbag.

OOC note: I did write this late at night and so many people posted so rapidly that if there is anything that in anyone's opinion Romeo should not have been able to notice in this post, please DM/owl me and I'll make quick editsEnchanted trunk in tow, I appraised the cabin up and down. From the outside, it looked halfway decent. Rustic enough, tidy enough… Unicorn cabin, hm? Was it intended to house those pure of heart, like its magical counterpart implied? Wasn’t it odd that I as being of the masculine sex was being housed here when the magical creature affiliated with the cabin’s name would have such a shyness toward me? Or was it, perhaps, indicative of some other, more deeply rooted reason? Whatever the reason, this was going to be home for the next 30 days or so. After having the unpleasant sensation of being sent here by Portkey slowly fading out of my system (the mysteries of what it was like to travel by such a means was now finally satiated), I was starting to come to terms with the fact that I was being housed here along with several of my Durmstrang fellows here at Hogwarts again in anticipation of playing against whatever team was going to await us for the summer Quidditch game. Hopefully I wouldn’t be the only Durmstrangian here. That, while not totally unpleasant, would also be a little more than awkward.
Hope, I supposed, was what was helping to hold me together at this point. Maybe this wouldn’t be all bad. Who knows, maybe I would meet someone worth getting to know.
This hope that I carried in me was quashed the very second I lifted my head after crossing the low threshold and entered into the psychedelic house of horrors. Without realizing it, my jaw dropped and I had to choke back a cry of shock as I beheld the (to be quite honest) garish interior. Compared to my previous residence at the Phoenix cabin with its warm and rustic interior… this was downright nightmarish. Frozen stiff with absolute amazement at how colors screamed at me from every wall, I close my mouth only long enough to murmur under my breath a short. “Oh Dios mio… Oh my God…” before I started to glance around, hoping that there would be some sort of redeeming factor to this cabin. Surely there had to be something, anything, that was pleasant here that could distract me from everything else that was awful about this place at first glance.
And, lo and behold, there it was… well… there it half-was, anyways. It was only slightly more pleasant than the architecture and the design that was inundating this place, anyways; that familiar black hair and that obvious face that I had grown to know rather reluctantly well. Ginyami. The Mahoutokoro boy that while I continued to hold at a distance I did at least recognize as some level of equal. Impressive circumstances tended to bestow upon reluctant allies that sort of camaraderie, after all.
And another familiar face as well, as Ginyami seemed to be carrying on a conversation with her; that strange girl that Yefim had made his special person for the purposes of the Hexwizard Tournament while he had reigned as Champion for the first trial of living Wizard Chess. Strangely beautiful, yet with an air of oddness about her, I never could quite figure out what appealed to Yefim enough to raise her to such a position. There was something distant, something almost off about the way that she held herself, the way she acted. Not quite hostile… perhaps a better word would be ‘athletic’ or even ‘aloof’. Still, it had never been enough to be a cause for concern; besides, I didn’t know enough about her–Erin, wasn't it?–to make any real judges of character just yet. Books and their covers, after all.
The longer I continued to watch the blossoming inter-cabin relationships (my God and that was the girl that had interposed herself between me and my brother last year at the Spring Ball!), the more my eye wandered about the room, trying my damndest to ignore the blasts of color that was causing me to blink every other second to reset my visions. Well, it could be worse, couldn’t it? Until… it did become much, much worse as I began noticing all of the decidedly miniscule niches and hidey-holes that were obviously intended to be used to travel about the cabin and its inner areas. With a small hiss of breath, my eyes dulled as I began to resign myself to potentially being consigned to the rooms capable of being able to be accessed considering my broad shoulders and irritating height. Built stocky and tall, this place was quickly becoming my nightmare; if not the colors, then the structure of the cabin, and if not the structure and the colors then the company I was a part of that would likely make fun of me at every turn for the very things that restricted my maneuverability in this place of residence. Who the Hell thought that it would be a bright idea to assign a nearly 2 meter tall individual to a cabin with the smallest doorways and means of access?
So, eventually, here I was, standing awkwardly off to the side as I was apt to do, wishing I could simply melt into the chromatic chaos despite the fact that I was likely the most bland color scheme in the immediate vicinity in my humble hues of blue jeans and plaid patterned white and light blue cotton t-shirt. Maybe if I just didn’t say anything to perform any sudden movements I would be able to simply peacefully attempt to claim a bunk bed and try to make the best of my circumstances. Maybe I could do a little whittling… honestly I’d make an excuse out of anything if it meant that I would be able to get out of the cabin and get some fresh and not stuffy air.
Now… where in the world were the beds…? Please, do tell me that I wouldn’t be forced to crawl through one of those claustrophobia-inducing niches in the walls… In the end, however, there I stood: a metaphorical deer seemingly caught in the prismatic headlights.ReducioStats:
