1st of July 2023
Following a quick stroll down to the campgrounds with their belongings - or getting a portkey directly to Hogsmeade, students were escorted directly to the Campgrounds and registered again. It was, at this stage that they were given the rules for the month. These were pretty obvious but they were stated again by Professor Jensen, simply because she did not trust students to listen. She also wanted to be sure that the visiting students did not have the excuse of being 'unaware' of the rules. Where necessary, the accompanying adults from each of the schools would repeat the rules in their school's language for people who didn't have English as their first language.
Camp rules were very simple. Obey the curfew, follow usual school rules, don't wander off into the forest, don't be a giant jerk - you know, all of the usual things. Failure to comply would result in a detention, or worse, banned from attending future camps.
Eight log cabins provided lodging for campers, each one with a beast-bearing flag for which they were named. Three were the Avian cabins: Augurey, Occamy, and Phoenix. Across from these were the three Equine cabins: Thestral, Kelpie, and Unicorn. At either end were two cabins intended for adults only but for this year's festivities repurposed for student use: the Hippogriff and Dragon cabins. Those creatures occupying the enchanted flags mutely flexed in a constant show of "friendly" competition: beating wings, clacking beaks, stamping hooves, and soundlessly tossing their heads.
Every structure appeared deceptively humble in size on the outside, while the interiors were enlarged by extension charms, making them wide beyond means and quite comfortable. These were fully furnished with curtained bunks, personal chests, dressers, wood-burning stoves, and plush floor rugs. The layouts were strikingly similar to the dorm rooms back at the castle. Rather than having House themes, however, they featured nuances of the beast on their flag.
During registration, they also all received their cabin allocations. Students were then escorted to the cabins by an adult and given some time to put their bags down, secure themselves a bed and settle into the accommodation that they would be staying at for the month. The first event was ready too - students were able to attend the sugar fair once they had settled in.
The group of students that arrived here would be the members of the Thestral Cabin.
Thestral
An eerie sort of cabin, the truth be said. Like the ephemeral nature of death, this cabin is also quite... odd. Visible to those assigned to it, students would be seen walking towards an open space and then they would simply... disappear. When students unassigned walk close to the cabin, they can see the humble features of the dwelling quite plainly. Slats of wood laced together neatly, dark and tired, but solid and firm. The door imposing, the image of a thestral embossed on the frame. Inside, the cabin was brighter than one would expect. Not a space full of dread, but rather a space reflective of misunderstanding. [Image Link]. Comfortable with adequate seating, the actual cabin is uniquely quiet, as in the students within cannot hear anything going on outside and those on the outside cannot hear what transpires within. This being a source of a great many rumours. Those who try to peer inside the cabin uninvited would see through the panes simply a dark, empty space. A field of ash and death, one needs to belong to the thestral cabin to understand its strange mysteries.
An outsider can be temporarily offered admittance, much like a vampire entering an abode. Just that time, just that day. Once they cross the threshold to the outside, they wont be able to enter inside. If their invitation is revoked, they would feel themselves pulled away, out the front door and expelled. At least that is the rumor, nobody ever gets past the front door. A professor is often sitting in that common area and often revokes the invitation as soon as a student utters one. The sleeping quarters are simple and clean. Canopied bunk beds, the lowest very close to the floor which some might find unusual and the second a short climb. [Image Link]

He had just arrived from Paris, the city of 'love' his ass. There was a lot of good in the city, the food for instance was first class, the art was divine, but the city itself, he could take it or leave it. His uncle had permitted him to re-enroll, but he was not entirely certain how he felt about that. This sudden, drastic change of heart with no apparent reason, However, Thaddeus was a man of few words most often unless they were words of praise or condemnation.
He was assigned the thestral cabin, uncanny how fitting that seemed since death followed him, cloaked him in its thorny blanket. Others would not see the cabin, he could tell by their vacant stares that seemed to look past rather than at the cabin. Strange, he muttered out loud as he looked over the eerie structure. He had become cautious over the last year and had grown much his year away from the apron springs that seemed to tether him.
He would rap on the door gently, thrice with his left hand, his right occupied by his trunk which hovered slightly above the ground and bobbed with its own internal magic. "Jürgen Hess," he would announce as he invited himself inside without waiting for an invitation. It was not as if he was a vampire, a being incapable of entering a domicile without an invitation. He would look about himself at his new surroundings, they were clean and neat. He did not believe that they would remain that way for long.
He would meander over to the roster, presuming that there was one.

@Jürgen Hess‘Just go,’ she said. ‘It’ll be fun,’ she said! So far nothing about this place seems very fun. I cannot believe she thought that I would somewhat enjoy be sent off to be surrounded by strangers! The nerve, thought Sage as she headed towards her assigned cabin, the thestral cabin. Cassie had told Sage it would be better for her to go to camp and meet new people and to better understand how Hogwarts would be. The soon to be first year wandered inside her cabin and looked around. It would be perfectly fine for her to stay in for a month. There was one other person in the cabin, a boy. Sage could tell he was far older than her. She surveyed the bunks and set her bags down on a bottom bunk. She knew she could have easily gotten up the stairs but decided to just grab a bottom bunk; it would be hard to see if she had to climb a ladder in the dark. Once her bunk was claimed, Sage turned to face the older boy. Since no one else had arrived, she figured she would start by introducing herself, after all she would be with these strangers for a whole month.
“My name is Sage. What is your name?” Sage realized she could hear no outside noises like she thought she would have. It was completely silent. That is weird. Why can I not hear anything from outside? Sage did not dare let her confusion show.

Note: unless stated otherwise, feel free to interact with me.Vladislav hated himself so much. If Gabriel really didn't like him- as much as he did in the Maze- why the hell did Vlad just stay with him during the maze. Why didn't he just make his own way out? Just sacrifice the boy who bullied him. Throw him in the middle of the hedges and not apologize.
After all, back where he came from- at least- strictly in his head since he spent a lot of his time imagining things- no one gets away with bullying Vladislav. Either Vladislav bullies you or there is no bullying. But as he entered Thestral Cabin, he felt himself get the ick. Where was all the color? Felt sad.
Oh, maybe he was home after all. Grieving after the loss of a potential boyfriend. Oh well, even if his boyfriend were Gabriel, he doubt that relationship would've lasted.
How unfortunate. He belonged here. In the shrouds of gloom and weariness. No need to say any more than that. He belonged in the dark. He didn't deserve someone to love.
But- he needed to take out his anger, his shame, his frustration. But how? His wand's core connected directly to the name of the Cabin, and it would be something he took pride in. Just to make the air just a tad bit colder- a few degrees of a drop in temperature, he withdrew his wand.

@Jürgen Hess - @Sage Willows ★ 7/1/2023 ★ As a Half-Blood that has only stepped into the wizarding world a few times in her life, it was safe to say that she was absolutely marveled by the castle upon her arrival to the wizarding school that was soon to be where she would reside in the next seven years. The summer camp was being held in the campgrounds of Hogwarts, meaning that Olive had a perfect view of the castle. Her eyes quite literally glimmered before she made an effort to stop looking and stepped into her assigned cabin once she made sure that it was indeed her own.
The ''Thestral Cabin'' was quite the complete opposite of Olivecore, making it a bit hard for Ollie to like it at first glance. Everything was quite colorless - the main color in the furniture being plain white and beige colors. However, considering that she was a beam of positive-ness, Ollie decided to see the cabin in a nicer light: it would be a step out of her comfort zone, and she would have to get creative and productive if she was to stay here for an entire month and not get absolutely bored and depressed by the lack of color.
Once she finished criticizing the decor of the cabin, she looked to see where the voices she was hearing were coming from. Apparently, she was not the first one to arrive at the cabin (thankfully, for she hated being too early or too late for that matter). Two other students, one of them seemed older than she (Jürgen), and another who looked more or less around her age (Sage), were talking to each other.
(If one or both of them decides to look at Olive's direction) Olive would warmly smile and wave at them, just to make sure that none of them would think that she is cold since she was quite the opposite and has been told in the past that she had quite a bitchy-looking resting face when her personality was not the case.
Ollie would afterward make her way to the bunk beds, assuming that you could just pick whichever you wanted without facing any consequences. they all looked exactly the same: plain white. However, she decided to see this in a positive light again, as a challenge to get creative with the decor. Maybe a few origami or mugs from the pottery activity that was going to happen soon would give it the touch that it needed. Or the strawberry blanket that her mother gave her for her birthday. And also the Bluey and Bingo plushies, given by her father a few Christmases ago. 'See, it's not impossible! You can adapt to this, eventually.' She thought to herself.
Sora, Ollie's ferret, seemed to adapt herself to the environment faster, however. Immediately, the pet started to play around with the bed and throw herself on the rest of the furniture. For safety measures (Olive was scared that Sora might break something, for she indeed was quite the overactive girlie), Olive stated to her that she should calm down and gave her a treat to keep her distracted. Then the young girl started opening her suitcase and pulling out the things she would need for the sake of her bed decor and mental health.

Did Yevgeny ever like Hogwarts in the first place? Well, he was a little confused about that. The architecture was serene, and the school had proven that it was able to manage to train powerful wizards. But Yevgeny's experiences in this castle so far had not been necessarily pleasant. He participated in a sports competition held here a few months ago, but due to bad timing, he was able to perform far below what he actually wanted. It wasn't an ideal start for a young wizard in pursuit of glory, to be sure. But this was the exact motivation behind Yevgeny's participation in this summer's camp - making a fresh start with Hogwarts.
And now, he had come to Hogwarts once again through a portkey. No one but his students and professors knew exactly where Durmstrang was, and Yevgeny landed on the British Isle, dragging this mystery with him. A smile appeared on his face when he saw that he had been sorted into a cabin bearing the name Thestral. He could now see these magical creatures as he recently witnessed his grandfather's death. Yevgeny gripped the wand he had inherited after the old man's death and felt grateful to it for enabling Yevgeny to cast extremely elegant spells. Before acquiring this wand, his spells looked exactly as it was described in the books, but now the appearances of some of the charms he cast had visibly changed.
He stepped into the cabin with small steps. "Well, it doesn't have a very thestral vibe," he thought to himself. The name of the cabin promised a darker, somewhat gloomy atmosphere. However, the interior of it could be considered, well, fairly bright. He looked around, the truth was that he didn't know anyone. He left his suitcase by one of the beds quickly, about to unpack later. He just wanted to rest right now. The Russian boy sat quietly in the armchair by the fireplace, his legs crossed. He put his hand on his chin and watched his peers walking around the cabin. “I wonder if there are any among them smart enough to make this summer bearable for me,” he sighed.
For a short period of time, he scanned the people inside the common area. Then he remembered the fact that, basically thanks to the name list, he was aware that a boy named Vladislav should also have been there. Yevgeny was interested in him as it was obvious from his quite self-explanatory name that he should be someone from or at least related to Russia, or maybe one of the South Slavic countries. He first looked at the slightly older boy's face with examining eyes, "Nah," he concluded, "he doesn't look like one of us." His gaze then continued to journey over the cabin. Apart from the girls, there was only one other boy, "he doesn't look very Russian either," Yevgeny mused. But the possibility was higher, and he decided to try his luck, mainly because of a lack of choices. "Vladislav, I presume?" he said to the boy as he approached Vladislav, hoping his guess was correct.

Reducio@Olive Campbell @Jürgen Hess @Sage Willows @Amadea Campbell @Alexander Harland @Aly Salinger @Kim Sato @Mellani Miller @Kayla Realma @Edward Foxe @Clark BairdAisley was ecstatic for summer camp. The pinkish-blonde didn't think she'd ever felt more excited. One month at a summer camp with friends from school and no appearance from Marianne or Jack, her older sister and step-brother. A smile seemed permanetly etched on Aisley's face as she walked up to the campgrounds. Approaching the cabin lists, she quickly scanned each one to find her name.
Aisley's smile quickly melted into a frown. Thestral cabin? Was she really placed in a cabin that was almost the complete opposite of her entire personality? Sighing, Aisley shook off her disappointment and tried to look on the bright side.
A five minute walk was all she needed until her cabin came in sight. It was dark. Eerie. The dark, wooden slabs on the outside held strong, providing a good foundation while the door featured the image of a Thestral.
Looking around, Aisley noticed passing campers giving her an odd look, like they didn't know what she was looking at. Shaking off the looks, she moved to open the door to her home for thr next month.
Inside the cabin was a whole different look. It was warmer. More welcoming. Aisley definitely liked it more than the exterior. There was comfortable seating and it was quiet. No noise from the bustling camp outside the walls of the cabin. Just the small noise of background chatter, coming from the boy and the girl seated on the couch. Another boy sat on an armchair, observing the cabin activity. Aisley directed a warm smile at them as she walked past, exploring further.
Turning a corner, Aisley was met with the sleeping quarters. Canopied bunk beds sat in neat rows. The bottom bunk sat close to the ground while the top was only a few steps up. The white canopy sat like a tent above the top bed, flowing over the safety bars and down the the bottom bunk.
Smiling at the room, Aisley spotted another girl unpacking her items on her chosen bed. Hauling her items over to a bed next to the girl, Aisley let Misty out of her travel case and set down her suitcase and guitar case beside the lower bunk.
Watching Misty hop around for a bit, Aisley picked a few things out from her suitcase and set them on the bed before turning to the other girl unpacking.
Holding out her hand for the girl to shake, she introduced herself, "Hey, I'm Aisley Solace! It's a pleasue to meet you!"

“My name is Sage. What is your name?” as she announced her name, he would pull the slip of paper from his pocket and look at for the name on the list. There it was, she was indeed on the roster so it was likely her.
"Jürgen Hess," he responded simply to the much younger girl. He did not bother with a more in-depth introduction. He preferred being a relative unknown, unburdened by the name carried by other members of his self-important family. Others would filter in, Vladislav then Olive. It would hit him by the third underclassman that he was put in a cabin full of kids, like he was some discount babysitter. Olive would flash him a smile when he glanced in her direction. Shit.
The door would open and another student would scurry in. His hopes raised for a moment before he identified again greenness on the Slavic (I assume) youth, Yevgeny. Then yet again for another girl, Aisley. Did they have an age cap of twelve for this cabin? He wondered. He would cross his arms over this chest, annoyed at his specific lot this summer. He was hoping for a summer with the lads, maybe a bit of butter beer and swimming, a mistake or two with a pretty enough lass. Not... this. He would sit down on the edge of his bed, eyes focused on the door. There has to be someone!

𝓐madea could hardly believe that this was going to be her very last summer camp. Throughout her many years at Hogwarts, she had experienced all of the different iterations of summer camp, from crazy adventures in the Great Lake to trying to reconcile friendships by tenting with certain groups of people. Amadea was a little bit discouraged that she wouldn't be able to choose her cabin mates this year, especially because she was excited to spend the summer with her best friends to ring in their final year at Hogwarts. But she knew that she would be able to spend plenty of time with them outside of sleeping time.
As Amadea began approaching to the cabin, she noticed that there was a weird aura emanating from it. The old wooden frame donned a huge image of a thestral in case any of the students were confused about where they should be going. In the back of her mind, Amadea wondered if she had been assigned this cabin because she was one of the people who could actually see thestrals. Perhaps that could be an...interesting bonding question. She wasn't sure how it would go over if she simply went around asking everyone if they could see thestrals. That could bring up some memories people might not want to think about.
When she stepped into the cabin, the noise of the outdoors completely faded away and she was left to hear the quiet hums of the people who had already arrived at the cabin and were settling in. It was almost eerie how she felt completely isolated from the rest of the world, but again, Amadea figured this was some sort of intentional design plan so that all of the cabin members could bond with each other. The cabin itself was fairly large, with plenty of room to hang out and a separate sleeping area filled with canopied bunk beds.
Amadea looked around, setting down her trunk next to the bottom bunk of an unclaimed bed. She hoped that no one had their eye on it, as she was admittedly fairly terrified of heights, and even though the top bunk of a bunk bed wasn't enough height to induce fear, Amadea couldn't shake the idea that she would somehow roll out of bed in the middle of the night. At least this way, if that happened, she would have less distance to fall. As she surveyed her surroundings, Amadea didn't notice anyone familiar. As much as she prided herself in her efforts for the past few years to reach out to more people and socialize, she was finding that Hogwarts was much larger than she could perceive. Absolutely none of these people looked familiar.
Her shyness was starting to take over and Amadea wished to just settle into her bed and pull the covers over her head. She wished that one of her friends were here with her. But alas, they weren't. With a sigh, Amadea began unpacking some of her things and tried to plaster on a smile; she didn't want her cabin mates to think she was some sort of antisocial sulky bore of a person.

Interacting: @Alexander Harland as Yevgeny Isaevich OgarevHe screamed loudly. Loud enough to make it official that he was around. If he got anyone's attention, good. That was all he needed. If they didn't pay attention, well, Vladislav moved on. He brought out his wand. He looked straight forward into the eyes of the kid who called his name. "Чего ты хочешь?" What do you want? He said, a little grouchy.
Since Vladislav had taken the bottom bunk, he figured he might as well equate that so he could avoid mistakes after mistakes of having someone sleep above him. For one, he didn't want to risk when someone had one too many waters in the middle of the night. This was Vlad's way of eliminating that issue.
"Incendio Duo." He said, aiming for the bed right above his head. There were to be no more of it. But as he looked up. He never made the freaking wand movement. He just pointed. He was the superhero in a nightmare. That was a load of crap. (OOC, for clarification, he didn't actually cast the spell ie "never made the wand movement" as my excuse for rp purposes)
He put down his wand and finally decided to face the kid who addressed him. His Southern accent- with him being from the States- would have been covering all traces of his position at the Russian school. "You called for me? Now what's up. What do you need me for? And..." He said, taking a short little moment to attempt to whisper in his ears. "I think we should prank our chaperone and uh- the old guy over there."
