Summer Camp - Pet Fair
A pet- that was what she wanted. Like many other pureblood's, Diagon Alley visits could not be complete with a trip to the Menagerie. She especially loved a bengal there, Lily, and fortunately no one has bought her yet.
Still- she wanted to interact with pets now, during summer, such a wonderful time. After a lengthy discussion with the Summer Planning Committee, it was finally agreed that a Pet Fair would do everyone good. So they had started on it. Duvessa, in all the editor-in-chief's glory, decided to join the Cuban on the project. The idea was simple enough. Each student will bring their pet and other students can appreciate the creatures, or (with the owners consent of course) even touch and play with them. Afterwards, students will be able to nominate the best pets and a vote would occur. The winner would get a prize, something related to (you guessed it!) pets.
There was no time for hesitation. The students had to know about the fair immediately, especially if any of their owls were flying. Several days before the fair, Amaris had pinned the following message on the noticeboard:
After a light lunch, the duo set out to begin the fair. It would start with Amaris, shouting out to a (hopefully) large group of students. 'Do you have your pets? Do you want to show off their skills? Do you want your prize?' The Cuban called, pausing to wait for a cheer. 'Well, today's the day, welcome to the Pet Fair! Before we begin though, I have a few rules. Firstly, be a responsible pet owner. If your pet hurts someone else's pet, it would be your responsibility, so make sure you don't. Secondly, don't touch, feed, or play with other student's pets if you don't have consent. If you get hurt because you broke this rule, this will be entirely your responsibility. Thirdly, while there will be a vote for the winner, I want all of you- yes all of you- to enjoy the experience, even if you don't have a pet or don't think you can win.' As the three simple rules seemed to sink in, Amaris smiled at the group. 'Alright, let's begin!'

Amaris had not simply waited though. With the help of Duvessa, the Gryffindor made stands and stalls, as well as open spaces, for the animals to roam. She had managed to find several enclosures and large cases, in case any animals got predatory. Her main worry was rats, of course, since owls, cats, and snakes all saw them as a delicacy. Still, she would not be deterred by such as a simple problem. As moderators, one of Amaris' and Duvessa's jobs were to keep the animals from attacking each other. To all pet lovers of Hogwarts,
Do you want to show off your little animal friend? Do you want to torment play with your enemies' friends' pets? Do you want to be nominated to receive a prize, designed for your pet? Well you're in luck, because we are hosting a Pet Fair, where you can do all of these things and more mentioned above!
Make sure to come after lunch on July 15th. Remember to bring a cage, enclosure, or carrier, and treats your darling pet!

Summer Camp - Pet Fair

Entering Rascal Mackenzie-Kincaid into the Pet Fair. Get ready for Ratman! Open to interaction.
Simon's pet Rascal was something. At times, he lived up to his name and could be so infuriating - dashing off here, having an attitude there.... And other times? Other times he was this cool little guy to chill with. Always though he was a determined and head-strung little gray rat who adored sweets and treats. Rascal had taught Simon more about caring, about patience, about sympathy - he had been his companion any time he was lonely, when he needed some clarity, when he wanted someone to listen to his songs when he first composed them, or even just to listen as he rambled on about a problem.
Simon wanted to showcase his pet. Rascal meant a great deal to him and he deserved some time in the spotlight after having such a hard life. Rascal had first belonged to a friend and an amazing Hufflepuff named Alexa Mackenzie who was one year older than Simon. She unfortunately passed away in a horrific car accident over a Christmas Break, but was able to roll down the window just enough to get Rascal to safety and somehow, by some miracle, little Rascal found his way to Hogwarts and into Simon's care.
"Rascal, you are the dark knight and vigilant protector of, not Gotham City, but this Summer Camp. Do you understand? You are to be there for every innocent person that you can. That's your code. You are to right the wrongs and defend the weak. I hereby proclaim you, Ratman," Simon said as he placed a little black cape with a yellow emblem onto the rat. Rascal perked up and stretched tall before giving an affirmative squeak.
If someone would come over to them at the Pet Fair, Simon would tell the great tale of Ratman and show off his skills:
And so much more. Yes, this was just the beginning of Ratman!
- He could paw shake for friendship - BOINK!
- He could respond to his name - ZIING!
- He could stand up on his back feet - BOOM!
- He could jump through hoops - ZAP!
- He could dunk a ping pong ball of a basketball into a hoop - SWISH!

Summer Camp - Pet Fair

@Simon Kincaid
Being a summer planner was a job of Duvessa's dreams. Responsibilities, efficient behavior and much planning. It suited the Duelist's taste very much. She walked onto the small clearing, approaching the Pet Fair. She was helping around to moderate what's going on as well as letting Bouncy have a fun time. Well, it looked like she was. Nibbling a thick apple slice, her little paws gripping it tightly and teeth moving quickly. Bouncy was perched on Duvessa's shoulder as usual, having a nice view of the souroundings.
After seeing another person there, she recognized him as Simon Kincaid, a Prefect and someone who stumbled into her Music room and they met. She watched in amusement as his rat it seemed was doing tricks, jumping around like it was having the best day of it's life. For a second, Bouncy froze and looked too, before jumping down quickly from her shoulder. The little rat watched the other shake paws and at once scampered close, pulling out a small paw, apple still in the other hand.
Duvessa shook her head at Bouncy's antics to try and copy. But her pet extended the apple, as if to share. But the sharp witted Slytherin tried to stop her.
"Bouncy, you can't offer food to the others. What if it can't eat it?" She said sternly, ready to remove Bouncy from the table if Simon protested. She turned to him.
"I am sorry about B. Your pet does some great tricks." Duvessa told him.

Summer Camp - Pet Fair
NoneCalming Presence in Effect; All Pets Affected
Feel free to give pets a 10% auto-hit rate to their Accuracy checks (as it may apply)Well of COURSE he was going to show off his pride and joy the lovely little Figaro that had been the boy's constant companion since the age of eleven when he had gotten sick that one time in February and had used that as an excuse to quite literally escape the castle for less than an hour during his lunch break so that he could buy a kitten to be his friend. It had been a lovely Valentine's day, and he had celebrated afterwards with a festoon of dungbombs in the corridors that had laid him (and a few others caught in the crossfire) in the Hospital Wing... where...
Piérre didn't try to think about that particular day of his life anymore. It made him twitchy and not at all comfortable with what was going on in the current point in time. Which was ridiculous, because he was supposed to be showcasing his beloved cat and all the cool things that his feline could do. Over the course of the years, the two of them had formed an inseparable bond, a connection that was magical likely even by the standings of being in a magical world where spells and fantastical creatures were the everyday norm. This bond was so deep, so fashioned out of the love for one another and the shared knowledge that the two of them would never do anything to harm the other that boy and cat worked like two cogs teething against one another; well oiled and perfectly designed to interlock and rotate without so much as a squeak.
Together they were able to sneak in shadows, together they were able to prance and frolic, and together they made quite an interesting pair; cat about the shoulders of his exotic boy.
Was Piérre proud of his little feline? Of course. Was he cocky about any of this? Absolutely not. Even if Figaro didn't win anything or didn't get much attention ladled on him at the conclusion of this party, Piérre would be there to relish all the love and attention that everyone else was missing out on. Figaro was a good boy (not neutered or declawed, however...), and had a very mature air about him at his keen three and a half years on his side.
Led in--with a leash now even attached to the harness that the cat wore--Figaro trotted happily at his master's side, glancing up every once in a while as if to divine the emotions crossing the face of the boy himself. Every once in a while Piérre glanced back down at his bengal and nodded affirmatively as if to say everything was alright, and then continued onwards until he could find a place to 'set up shop'. If anyone was looking carefully, they may have noticed that one of the boy's cheeks was slightly more filled than the other.
That little wad of vegetable matter would in fact happen to be the mandrake leaf that he was trying to keep in his mouth for the entire length of July. Enlisting the help of Professor Aardvark (unwillingly, but the kid had had the misfortune of being caught by the keen-witted professor whilst he had been attempting to undergo the Animagus process on his lonesome), Piérre was trying to finish this first irritating half of the ritual that essentially rendered him mute except for some excellent garbling. He had made attempts to cast spells, certainly, but it wasn't like he was allowed to cast spells at this time of the year anyways what with the blasted Trace on him and all. Indeed, speaking to the boy would likely prove to be a challenge... but not one that the boy would try to shy away from if he could help it.
So with cat in tow, Piérre found a small area away from cages (there was no way that he was going to keep his beloved familiar in those terrible crates) and sat down on the ground with Figaro walking in circles in front of him as the feline took in his surroundings with obvious glee. Eyes twinkling with mirth at watching his familiar find himself so contented, Piérre snapped once and twice to get the cat's attention before starting to do the small show of tricks that he had prepared. In his pocket was a few scraps of the human food that was being provided at the faire, as well as some wizard brand cat treats in case he ran out of the human scraps. Tamping down the mandrake leaf in his mouth so that he could attempt to speak as clearly as could be managed, Piérre began to command his familiar, starting with one of his favorite tricks.
"Figaro! Stola! Literally; Stole"
Immediately the cat leapt from the ground and directly onto the shoulders of the boy, walking around his neck a few times to get comfortable before laying down across his shoulders and putting his head down on paws steady on Piérre's left side. Figaro lazily looked across the area, eyes half-closed, and began to crescendo into a deep and satisfied scratchy purr as Piérre gently itched the base of the cat's tail. "Bravo, Figaro." Piérre affirmed. Black tipped tail flicked back and forth for a few moments before Figaro's attention was captured once again by his master taking off his hag stone necklace and then tossing it into a collection of loose mishmash just out of sight of himself and his cat. The next command was this; "Figaro, scrutare; Articolo! Search/Find; Item Accompanied by a point towards the direction the boy had thrown the item.
With the lightness of a cloud, the feline leapt from his boy's shoulders and began to sift through the things that were strewn all over the place. After a little while of poking and tugging, the feline did finally manage to uncover the hag stone that was on its little leather necklace. Figaro looked back to Piérre, and as if on cue, the boy gave the next command. "Bravo, Figaro! Confireire. Confer/Give" With an extension of his hand.
Picking up the little trinket in his mouth, Figaro trotted merrily back to his master and dutifully handed the necklace back to his brother. Piérre gratefully received it and with a smile and a declaration of; "Bravo, Figaro!", bequeathed upon the silvery feline a little bit of taco meat and then replaced the hag stone necklace safely about his neck again. A good luck charm it was, as well as a means of protection against all the evils that slunk about the vicinity of this school and the Forbidden Forest... A way to see the 'real world' better than most, and an only defense against the dark magics that would try to conceal it. Yes, this item was worth teaching his cat to retrieve... just as it was a trick to teach the cat to defend and to handle himself in a brawl. These were the less delightful tricks that Piérre had ingrained upon the mind of the highly intelligent silver bengal, but they were arguably the most important ones. Hopefully he would not have to make good on enforcing those tricks upon anyone here.
That wasn't what he had come here for, after all. The boy continued to relish praise upon praise on his feline. Figaro was more than deserving of them. He was one of the smartest cats that Piérre had ever known... perhaps it was more than likely that his dearest companion just so happened to have a little bit of Kneazle in his family history that his seller had known nothing about beforehand.

Summer Camp - Pet Fair
Said | Thought
It was said that there would be a Pet Fair on July 15th in Summer Camp. Zach was so excited to join in with Zephyr, his pet owl. They had been together for eleven months and maybe they could show their bond in the event together. He prepared Zephyr's cage and owl treat and did not forget to bring a bottle of water. They went together to the event with Zephyr in its cage. It was hooting here and there, looking at the surroundings and other participants especially the rats with its round eyes. "Are you looking at those rats? Nope. They are not your meal and please behave so we would not made any problems here," said Zach to his pet owl. Zephyr sounded sad hoot because he could not eat those rats or maybe it was all in Zach's head, trying to interpret Zephyr's hooting.
They arrived at the Pet Fair location. Many participants had already there, prepraring themselves and so do Zach and Zephyr. The double Z took a spot somewhere in the middle but not at the place where all eyes would catch them. It was Zach's choice to occupy the spots. He wore his protection gloves before open Zephyr's cage. He took a leash and tied it on Zephyr's right leg. "It's just for today and I will never put it on you again unless it is necessary to do. I'm sorry, friend," he said. Zephyr made a sad hoot once again. Zach pet it on its head trying to cheer it up. Then he took out Zephyr and tied the other end of the leash on a standing.
Zach sat behind the standing, with Zephyr in front of him. He brushed its feathers so it looked shiny under the sunlight. Zephyr sometimes hooting over and over. It also turned its head 360°. Its beautiful round eyes looking at some rats seriously but Zach's pat and the leash on its leg made it could not flew far. "Here some treats," Zach said while giving Zephyr some owl treats. A cup of drink was also prepared near the standing.

| ─── | It was Saturday, July 15th, 2023.
Tone was busy walking throughout the campgrounds, searching for targets to make into his friends. And of course, making sure none of his current friends were in need of assistance. He also was keeping an eye out for any events or fun things to do at the same time. That was when he came across one of the events on his schedule. This must be the Pet Fair listed on the parchment paper. Well, that was certainly something he was looking forward to seeing because it had to do with animals! Tone loved animals and creatures of all kinds. Approaching the area, he looked around at the enclosures and booths set up, with various students.... Four in particular caught his eye and Tone moved towards them. The first was Simon's booth with Rascal. The second was Duvessa with Bouncy. The third was Pierre with Figaro. The fourth was Zach with Zephyr. Tone let his eyes flicker over each one of them. Two rats, an owl and a darling cat. Well, it wasn't much of a surprise when the pink haired teen decided to make his way over to the booth with a cat. Tone remembered a past ball where he'd had the fortune to snuggle a cat for awhile. It had been such a lovely memory for him! Cats were such darling creatures. If he remembered correctly, it had been Hia's girlfriend Winnie who had been the owner of the cat. Tone wanted to interact with all 4 of the ones that had caught his eye but he couldn't do it all at once. So first he went up to Pierre's area where the cat was. After, he'd probably head for one of the rats and then check out the owl. He'd decided to sit on the ground, away from the cages and enclosures. Tone watched as Pierre sought to have his cat do some tricks and when Figaro had done so, he couldn't help but smile. "What a talented cat!" The pink haired teen exclaimed, his eyes sparkling upon seeing Figaro. He was such a cutie! "Figaro was it? How did you come up with that name?" Tone asked, curious. He moved closer to the two, wanting to lean down to pet the cat but didn't make a move yet. "Can I pet him?" The nearly fourteen year old asked Pierre. Even though he loved cats, he also wanted to check out the other pets nearby on display because it would be a waste not to! He could always return to this boy and Figaro later on. But first, Tone wanted to get the boy's name and be able to pet the cat before he left to check out the other pets there... |

Pets- Kit didn't have one, but they had always sounded like fun. Not that she really knew how animals did with portkeys, but the Hogwarts students could definitely show off their furry/scaly friends. While she would have enjoyed winning something, not having a cat or ferret (her top choices) made it a little challenging to compete. Still, it'd be fun to meet others and get an excuse to see cool tricks or offer scritches and pets! The rules were simple enough, nodding along as she lightly bounced in place before the fair opened and the Beauxbatons student was free to wander.
Rats had never really been a top choice for Kit, but she couldn't deny that she was curious about them or didn't think they were also cute. Now would be the perfect opportunity to learn more and potentially see if they could change her mind on the current pet ranking. Two rats (and their owners) were meeting each other and looked friendly, so the girl approached with a curious tilt of her head. She'd only arrive to hear the last bit of the younger girl's dialogue, raising an eyebrow at the mention of tricks. For some reason, the idea that rats could also do tricks had never crossed her mind, assuming it was only something for cats, dogs, and similar creatures. She knew hawks could be trained though, so it didn't seem too big of a leap to think that most animals could do tricks in some way or another.
"Both of your pets are quite cute! They seem pretty nice too- can I pet them?" Both looked rather soft, although the one with the cap would probably be a little more challenging to pet- plus he had an important mission of being a superhero and doing tricks! Speaking of which, one Kit had either been accepted or denied to pet the rats, her attention would turn to the older boy and his caped rat. "I heard your rat could do tricks?" She raised an eyebrow inquisitively, hoping that the question would be enough to start up another pet performance. If so, Kit was attentive and easily impressed, grinning and lightly clapping at each skill. "That's super impressive- how long did it take to train Ratman?"

Summer Camp - Pet Fair
Oliver had joined the summer camp, even after lots of “Please don’t go!”’s from his little sister. He wanted to branch out with others who were like him. It was the 15th of July, the fifteenth day he was at camp. He had received a letter. After reading it he was sure he would attend it, the Camp’s Pet Fair! Over the year he had taught his ( sometimes annoying prideful ) owl, Wisdom. He was stubborn to work with, he had nips on his hands from when his Owl wanted more treats after a weekend of training. He wanted to show the people what his owl could do, and it wouldn’t be hard as his owl was a bit of a show off, always fluttering in front of people. He needed a way to catch people’s attention, when they see him they’d think he was just a normal owl. “I need a costume for him! Now where is it?” he muttered as he rummaged through his trunk. “There it is!” he said as he pulled out a suit for his owl. Yes, a suit. He had asked his father for one if there was something formal he would need to bring his owl to an event or something. He had only put it on his owl once when he received it, it was a bit too big at the time, but by now his owl grew, and Oliver didn’t know if it would even fit! He sighed a sigh of relief ( and surprise ) because his owls costume fit on Wisdom! Okay! “We have to go to the Pet Fair now!” He said to his owl. His Owl looked away “C’mon! Get your hopes up!”. He said. His owl didn’t move. “I’ll give you more treats!-“ he said as if he hadn’t gotten enough treats already. Surprisingly Wisdom didn’t even flinch. “Oh man, I don’t wanna drag you, your claws are sharp! Oh what am I gonna- Wait! Oh its such a shame you don’t want to go! The amount of people who won’t see you- and the amount of female owls who wont see you…” he said. Immediately, his owl flew onto his shoulder with a little “hoot” and off they went. ( after Oliver changed into something more formal, just a polo shirt and jeans ) At the venue, he put down his owls cage. “All right! Remember what we practiced!” he said. He took out a little pouch with all the things they needed. “All right Wisdom, 3… 2… 1… Go!” Oli shouted as he threw a treat as high as he could in the air, his owl left his shoulders and caught the treat with its mouth before rising up a bit more. Then suddenly he stopped flapping his wings and free fell straight towards the ground. Oliver heard someone gasp, or it was just his imagination. Before it hit the ground, with a strong flap, It was able to direct its direction up again. “Alright! Now its hoop time!” Oliver shouted. This trick would be the hardest, this trick took all year to learn, so you couldn’t blame Oliver if he was a bit nervous. The trick required his Owl to fly through the same hoop twice, all while airborn before Oliver would catch the hoop. He threw the hoop up, and his owl flew through the hoop, with another whoosh, his owl changed courses, but the wind knocked him out of course. Oh no! Oliver thought. But just at the last second, Wisdom got control and flew threw the hoop just before Oli caught it again. He breathed a sigh of relief. He threw two treats up and his owl caught it before landing back on his shoulder. “Hoot hoot!” His owl hooted before doing a bow to all those who were watching. “Thank You!” He said to everyone there. He wanted to do this for the rest of the day, if his owl permitted of course.

Summer Camp - Pet Fair

Cheering on her two favorite Kincaids, @Simon Kincaid
Mentions : @Duvessa Ember and @Lea Hirsch as Katherine FelixThe Pet Fair, as an event, had captured Simon's attention more than any other summer offering, with the exception of the Broom Racing match, of course. AngelFyre delighted in seeing how her boy, who still proclaimed that animals were not his jam, had grown into such a responsible companion for his rat. Sure, it would have been possible that he could have taken Rascal in and provided him with the barest necessities - food, water, and shelter - but that was not her fellow's heart. So much more had been offered and received.
When Rascal came to Simon, they were both in mourning. Upon meeting Rascal, and for about 6 months thereafter, AngelFyre had had the uneasy feeling that Rascal had pretty much given up on everything and everyone. Simon, for his part, had provided the things Rascal had to have, but the connection they now share was a fuse that was slow to spark initially. She had watched happily as the two had bonded over time and had become thick as thieves. As good as Rascal had been for Simon was as good as Simon had been for Rascal. Simon may not be an animal person, in general, but he was definitely a Rascal person, in particular.
He was a completely different rat, now, from the lethargic, depressed rodent he once was. AngelFyre was reminded as she found her way here this morning that she had once very much doubted that Rascal was even going to survive last summer. She fully expected Simon to start his third year pet-less, but meeting Simon's Aunt Maggie changed everything for the little guy. Whatever she had done had drawn the little guy out and likely saved him from wasting away. AngelFyre was just so grateful that in those long, lonely hours when Simon had been struggling with his unsettling aura in his dorm room that he had had Rascal there to keep him company. She had no doubt the little fellow had redirected Simon's thoughts and energy, if only for short while.
As she made her way to the area, she smiled as she saw them. They were both surrounded by people, one of whom seemed to have a rat of her own. Out of the middle of nowhere, AngelFyre flashed across the idea of a rat maze race idea between the two. That could be fun, but may be too involved for the fair. She tucked it away for the moment. Who knew?
She waved to Simon and stepped up to listen to the goings on. Seeing the other rat made her laugh. It was adorable. She smiled to its owner and to the other girl standing there as well. "Is it a he or a she, and what is its name?" she asked the owner.

EmmaLee was so excited that she couldn't possibly eat; the day for the pet fair was finally here. Leaving her lunch only nibbled, EmmaLee coaxed a snoozing Minx out from under her chair. "Allons-y, Minx. Je suis trop excité. Je ne peux pas manger." Let's just go, Minx. I'm too excited to eat. She said quickly as the white, fluffy cat slunk lazily out from under that chair.
Minx followed quickly after EmmaLee as she practically soared across the camp. This was going to be so much fun, spending an afternoon entirely dedicated to hanging out with her favorite pet. EmmaLee thought about what tricks she could get Minx to do that would impress, or maybe they would just play around. She had been able to brush out Minx's fluffy white fur and put a pretty blue bow around her neck. Some of the coolest things Minx could do was retrieval and empathy, although that would be a hard thing to show. Maybe she could get Minx to go collect things from the Dragon Cabin, or everyone could just admire how pretty and playful she was. EmmaLee would be happy either way.
As the two approached the fair, they saw a large variety of other animals. The note had asked everyone to bring an enclosure for their pet, but EmmaLee was hard pressed to stuff Minx anywhere she didn't want to go, so she settled on pulling a thin blue ribbon out of her pocket, attaching her ribbon to Minx's ribbon, and giving a firm "hup" while patting her shoulder. Minx gave a disgruntled "mer" as the makeshift leash was attached, but hopped up on EmmaLee's shoulders obediently. The cat was quiet a bit larger that it had been when it was a kitten and did this more often, but she situated herself is a way that her rear paws were on either of her girl's shoulders and her front paws were on the top of her head, almost a piggy back ride, or as if Minx were a very fluffy hat.
With Minx a little more contained, if not fully contained, EmmaLee meandered over to an available pet pen. The girl placed a small pillow she had brought with her to her side as she sat down within the pen. It wasn't a particularly special pillow. Just somewhere for Minx to lay if she was bored.
Once her girl had sat, Minx took the liberty of hopping down and pawing at her girl's pigtails playfully. EmmaLee giggled as she shook her own snowy locks slowly for the cat to play with and surveyed the area. There were a few rats, and owl, and another cat so far. She recognized the cat and the owner as a pair who were in Dragon cabin with her, but she was unsure if she wanted to interact with them just yet. She pondered as Minx played with her hair and she observed the other people entering the fair.
