He sounded like a hero in a movie, declaring something important. (Joyce Carol Oates)
For the first time in months, Maverick felt the pressure in his chest had been lifted. It was not something big, actually, but he was not used to being far away from home and carried a secret by himself. It had been all right at the beginning, but the burden and the responsibility became heavier and heavier as time went by; and after some time his back ached, his arms wore out like a fan belt, and his breast was simply too small. He guessed talking about it, sharing it, helped.
They both had lost track of time, no one was wearing his watch tonight. But they had just agreed that it was late, so they had better head back to the Gryffindor Common Room on the fifth floor. Odilon and Maverick were still on the second, but the latter assumed they would arrive at their destination in no time; two minutes would be the maximum, so why worry about time? Besides, he figured that if they acted coolly, anyone who might happen to pass would believe that this was all an innocent mistake.
"Any plan for tomorrow?" the Castle boy asked, breaking the comfortable silence between the two part-Veelas. "Tomorrow's Saturday. You're up to something fun, I guess?"

T he clacks of shoes against the castle's floors echoed up to the tops of the high-arched ceilings as Odi paced around the second floor corridor looking for something to do. He felt -as he often did- bored. The signs of summer were beckoning his attention and he longed for the chance to get out of the castle to fly round the quidditch pitch some more, but in the meantime he was confined to exploring the dusty old relic that was Hogwarts castle.
The hours had slipped away faster than usual today though. It was nice being around Maverick. Something about him felt familiar to Odi in a way he didn't quite recognise. "Any plan for tomorrow?" Maverick asked, his voice echoing too against the stone floor "Tomorrow's saturday. You're up to something fun, I guess?"
Odi couldn't suppress a smirk. He liked that Maverick thought his life was so filled with constant escapades of daring-do. True enough he had caused a good deal of chaos in the previous week with a few harmless pranks that had landed him in trouble with the faculty, but the truth was the weekends were less exciting for him. You were supposed to goof off on the weekend, and somehow that made it less fun.
"Oh yeah." Odi drawled sarcastically. "I get the thrilling task of waiting to recieve a scathing letter from my mother that goes over all the stuff I did wrong this month." He raised his eyebrows in a kind of what-can-you-do sort of way. "What about you?" He let out a little laugh as the question came out. Making light of his strained relationship with his parents made it easier to cope with.

Her first week of being a prefect. It had already ended in a detention with a couple of first years, and as Bea patrolled the corridors back from the Great Hall to the Ravenclaw Common Room, it was another pair of first years that caught her eye.
It was late, well late considering curfew to be in Common Rooms was 8 o'clock, and it was a Friday. Overall, Bea really didn't want to have to give someone else a detention. The annoyed feeling of giving up her entire weekend for troublemakers didn't sit well with her and she sighed harshly. Smoothing her fingers over her wand in her jumpers sleeve just in case of trouble, Bea wandered over to the two boys. They seemed in conversation about something although Bea was too far away to catch most of it.
Stopping just behind the boys, she coughed loudly hoping to startle them and get their attention. Just because she didn't want to give someone detention didn't mean she didn't want to scare them. They were out past curfew, no matter how close it was to the 8pm mark. Prefect badge shining brightly pinned to her jumper, she smiled when she gained there attention. "Hello boys! Out for a late night stroll?"

Maverick turned around when he heard a voice seemingly speaking to him and to Odi, knowing immediately, after before turning his head, that it belonged to a girl. He was right: the speaker was a teenage girl with curly dark hair, maybe just a year their senior.
He had no interest to try to win her heart, but he was in a good and confident mood. Thus, instead of being rude to her or telling her to get lost, to mind her own business, the part-Veela flashed that smile, the one he had been practising lots of time in front of the mirror and got the effect he exactly wanted. Prince Charming Smile, he himself dubbed it.
"Naah, not a late night stroll," he answered relaxedly, with a casual tone that indicated not arrogance but rather, friendliness. And because he did not even know the time, for he had no watch with him, "But it is almost eight, so we decided to start going back to our Common Room and continue our chat there. We're both in Gryffindor; and you are in...?"
Looking at her eyes all the time, the first year did not even notice that she had a badge with her, a badge that could mean trouble for both Odi and himself.
