Ero quietly entered the lavatory, peering around the unkempt walls. She'd rarely come to this floor, other than for the studying rooms. Her boots clacked on the messy tile floor, and she poked her head into an even dirtier bathroom. Ero Hallister looked out of a decorated window into the fields outside, cloaked slightly by the dusk hour. She crouched down on the wall and looked around, slightly disgruntled by the uncleanliness despite this being so highly used. An idea sparked in the prankster's mind, and she took out her lipstick, beginning to smudge the bright red stick into words on the mirror.
"H was here.." She read aloud, and deciding that was too basic, began scribbling on spells she always knew went awry. This took her much longer than just three words, and by the time Ero'd thought up and written down all of the prankish words, her feet hurt from craning up and down to write on the top and bottoms of the reflective surfaces. She tossed the worn down stick into the trash and this time took out her blush. Running the crimson powder under the faucet, she created her infamous fake blood, and finally begun spreading this around.
As the first year finished her disaster zone, she became increasingly unaware of the outside world, and as she stood to admire the concerning mess and dig through her bag for another finishing touch, someone else entered the lavatory..

Ember stumbled out of class. Her excuse was badly needing to use the toilet, but to be honest, there was no such desire with her at the moment. The student sitting right next to her in Transfiguration was extremely annoying, and the young Ravenclaw simply wanted to escape.
Breathing hard, she burst through the door, then suddenly sprang back as she realized there was another girl in the lavatory area. This was something she hadn't anticipated. Of course, it seemed logical that one of the two thousand students here would have to use the toilet, and it wasn't completely absurd that this would happen now. Anyway, Ember had assumed she would be alone. While hastily pondering about how to deal with this situation, she noticed a crimson liquid splattered across the basin in front of the other girl, apparently a Hufflepuff. It was all over her hands, too. "Oh my god!", Ember cried out, darting over. "What happened? Are you hurt? Where is all that... blood coming from?" She grabbed the girl's hands in despair, looking for wounds, but couldn't find any. "Should I call the nurse?" Her eyes opened widely, the Ravenclaw quickly tried to survey the situation. That was when she noticed the little crumbs of blush powder teetering on the rim of the splattered basin. And the smears of bright red lipstick on the mirrors. Apparently someone had written spells on them. And she felt she knew exactly who it was. Her voice was much colder, much harder as she stepped away from the Hufflepuff and spoke up again. "You gave me a fright." she scowled. "I could report you to a teacher, you know? I don't think they will take kindly to a student ransacking the lavatory..." Ember thought it over again, biting her lip warily. What use would it be to have the girl told off? Everyone would see her as a teachers' pet, not as a likeable student. And, more important, the girl seemed quite imaginative, spirited or whatever. Most of the scholars she had known in her own town would have written "XY woz here" or a swear word, but definitely no interesting spells. "But... I won't. Tell the Professors, I mean", she smiled reassuringly, her fiery temper calming down again. "That blood's super realistic. I really thought you had badly hurt yourself!" Ember laughed. "How did you do that? And what's your name, by the way?"

Amanda had to use the bathroom, and she had to use it bad. She had hurriedly left Potions class, practically sprinting all the way up to the bathrooms on the fifth floor. She supposed that she could’ve used the Prefect’s bathroom instead, but this one was the first one she saw and so she burst inside, intending to just take care of her business and leave.

When she entered the room, however, a sight completely opposite than what she expected greeted her. “Oh my gosh...” Now Amanda knew enough about pranking to know that this was fake blood, but she was still shocked all the same. Even I wouldn’t go this far... She whirled furiously on the two girls standing there. “Alright, which one of you two jokesters did this? This is a vandalizing school property and that is not allowed. And if one of you ladies doesn’t speak up right now, I’ll give you both detention.” Amanda had completely forgotten the reason why she came to the bathroom in the first place, but the pressing need to urinate had disappeared completely. The only thing that she was concerned with now was this mess on the bathroom walls and whoever put it there.

“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

Ember jumped as a girl, the Ravenclaw Prefect she had seen on her very first day, Amanda Sparrow, suddenly came in. She seemed to be taken aback by the scene, Ember realized. A quiet "Oh my gosh..." left the prefect's mouth. The young witch opened her own to explain something, but Amanda didn't leave her any time. A furious look appeared in her eyes, narrowing behind the big black-rimmed glasses. "Alright, which one of you two jokesters did this? This is a vandalizing school property and that is not allowed. And if one of you ladies doesn't speak up right now, I'll give you both detention." Little drops of sweat formed on Ember's temples as she heard this. Detention? She bit her lip in anxiety, desperate to clear up this issue. "I'm - I just came in, I didn't - no - I did not..." She trailed off, looking at the girl standing next to her. The one who had splattered the fake blood in the first place. She probably deserved it, right? And yet she looked so vulnerable standing there, and it had been so realistic, at least in Ember's eyes... could she really tell on her like this? She cleared her throat, unsure what to say.
Then, she made her decision. A smile appeared on her face as she edged nearer to the prankster. Her voice sounded squeaky, Ember didn't have much experience in being like that, but it still worked. "Well, you'll have to find it out yourself, prefect, right?" She grinned.

Ero finished casually, and looking at the mess one final time, heard someone behind her yell.
"Oh my god!", Ember cried out, darting over. "What happened? Are you hurt? Where is all that... blood coming from?" She grabbed Ero's hands in despair, looking for wounds, but couldn't find any. "Should I call the nurse?"
She startled back, and smiled sheepishly as the girl noticed her disaster. "You gave me a fright." she scowled. "I could report you to a teacher, you know? I don't think they will take kindly to a student ransacking the lavatory...""But... I won't. Tell the Professors, I mean" she smiled reassuringly, her fiery temper calming down again. "That blood's super realistic. I really thought you had badly hurt yourself!" The Ravenclaw laughed. "How did you do that? And what's your name, by the way?"
"I'm Ero Hallister! Just decided to make a little madness, y'know.." Ero giggled, shrugging off the rest of the girl's panic in a hope not to embarass her.. As she chuckled, another student, a prefect she noted, burst into the room. Ero's muscles tensed as she prepared to be told off. "Alright, which one of you two jokesters did this? This is a vandalizing school property and that is not allowed. And if one of you ladies doesn't speak up right now, I'll give you both detention." The Prefect scolded, and Ero turned, concered to look at the girl beside her. She was shaking, bad news for the trouble maker. "Well, you'll have to find it out yourself, prefect, right?" They smiled, and Ero's heart lightened. "Yeah! What she said!"She giggled, winking at the first year beside her. With a small realization she quietly pocketed the ruined blush and rubbed what remained on her hand onto the wall.

Ember still felt a pang of anxiety deep down. What if the Hufflepuff girl who had now introduced herself as Ero Hallister wouldn’t take kindly to her act at all? Some might have considered it brave, others reckless, Ember worried that it might actually have been the second option. What if the student decided to take the chance and blame the prank on Ember? She started shivering in the cold breeze coming through a halfway opened window, staring at the prefect with panic in her eyes when she heard Ero suddenly speak up next to her.
“Yeah! What she said!”, she nodded, looking straight at the Ravenclaw prefect and moving even closer to Ember with a broad smile and a wink. Her thumping heart gradually slowed down; she felt a wave of gratitude wash over her.
The young girl felt a quick movement next to her and turned her head a little, just in time to see the other student’s hand drop a small box with the wet, smudged remains of crimson blush in it into her pocket – apparently going unnoticed by the prefect who was still standing in front of them with her arms folded. Remembering that clearing up the evidence was probably a good idea, Ember quickly imitated her, wiping her hands on her robes.

One of the girls began to stammer nonsense but then turned her attitude around, siding with the other girl. Her name’s Ember Jones, if I remember correctly. "Well, you'll have to find it out yourself, prefect, right?" Ember said defiantly, her voice sounding squeaky. Then the other girl chimed in with “Yeah! What she said!”

Amanda sighed frustratedly. “I appreciate your bravado, I really do, but I just don’t have time for this kind of shit. I’m supposed to be in class right now. All I wanted was to take a piss, but then I came into this nightmare of a mess.” She looked around at the walls, which were covered in red writing. “The last thing we need right now is some nervous first year walking in here and thinking that this is actual blood.” Amanda walked over and took a swipe of it with her finger, sniffing it and rubbing it between her thumb and index finger. “Lipstick, really? I thought that you might be a little more creative than this at least.” She shook her head slowly and rinsed off the lipstick.

Amanda turned around from the sink, facing the two girls. “Well then, you leave me no choice. I want you two in here, Monday evening. Your punishment will be to clean up this mess. Now if you’ll excuse me.” Amanda went into a stall, took care of her business, washed her hands, and then returned to class.

Ero saw the red head beside her settle and decided she made a good choice. With a deep breath she turned back to stare at the prefect, curious now. They looked flustered.
“I appreciate your bravado, I really do, but I just don’t have time for this kind of shit. I’m supposed to be in class right now. All I wanted was to take a piss, but then I came into this nightmare of a mess.” Ero followed their eyes to her workings. “The last thing we need right now is some nervous first year walking in here and thinking that this is actual blood.” She giggled a little, looking at Ember. “Lipstick, really? I thought that you might be a little more creative than this at least.”
"Hey! That lipstick is the perfect shade for blood anyway." She puffed out her cheek, semi upset, but mostly jokingly. “Well then, you leave me no choice. I want you two in here, Monday evening. Your punishment will be to clean up this mess. Now if you’ll excuse me.” Ero stomped her foot a little, but decided objecting would make it worse. As Amanda left, Ero turned to look at Ember with a red face. "Ugh, I'm sorry.. You shoulda just ratted me out!"

The prefect's eyes turned up in an annoyed eye roll. "I appreciate your bravado, I really do, but I just don't have time for this kind of shit. I'm supposed to be in class right now. All I wanted was to take a piss, but then I came into this nightmare of a mess. The last thing we need right now is some nervous first year walking in here and thinking that this is actual blood." She tried to identify the substance smeared all over the mirror by sniffing it. "Lipstick? Really? I thought that you might be a little more creative than this at least", she said, with something between a giggle and an exasperated groan. Ero still had the spirit to retort. "Hey! That lipstick is the perfect shade for blood anyway." Ember had to laugh at this answer; the prefect, on the other hand, didn't. "Well then, you two leave me no choice now", she said. "I want you two in here, Monday evening. Your punishment will be to clean up this mess. Now if you'll excuse me." As she disappeared into a cubicle, Ember felt Ero's foot stamp the floor in a little movement of rebellion, but the girl didn't say anymore. They silently watched as Amanda left her cubicle again, rinsed her hands and shut the door behind her. Ero blushed fiercely, a look of something like agitation on her face. "Ugh, I'm sorry... You should have ratted me out..." Ember bit her lip, unsure what to say. Should she have done so? After all, she had detention now... Then, her lips quirked up into a smile. "No, I wouldn't have. It's just one evening of detention, right? And that's much better to endure together", she said reassuringly. Then, a twinkle came to her green eyes. "Did you notice how controversial that was? The last thing we need is some nervous first year walking in here and thinking this is actual blood, but well, let's leave it till Monday evening for some unsuspecting first years to come across it just to give those two a punishment." She giggled.
