A a few weeks ago, on her birthday, Olive had received her long-awaited letter to the wizarding school, which had caused chaos in the family, especially regarding Olive's mother, who was more than thrilled to see that she had another daughter that was a witch just like her. However, her mother's excitement also came with an excess of perfectionism, stress, and anxiety, for Minai wanted everything to be under control for her youngest daughter's first day of school.

So due to this, Olive had started the journey of buying her school supplies a little too soon for her liking, for her mother would not stop sweating about how she needed to have everything just in time. They rushed to Diagon Alley a few weeks after receiving the letter with the list of supplies included, and Olive would start picking her supplies based on her own choices and the products that were needed on the list.

When they finished buying everything necessary, Olive went back to reading the list just in case she forgot anything. '' Are we done dear? asked her mother once more, just to make sure. '' Yeah, but there's still this last thing on the list. I won't be getting a pet, won't I mum?''

Olive had not thought about getting a furry companion before, because the family already had an owl and a cat of their own, and she had not stopped to think about the fact that she will not be seeing them again until summer vacation once she's at Hogwarts. Now that she did think about it, it would be nice to have an animal that she could call her own. However, that decision was for her mother to make. Minai looked at the supplies list and looked at the part where it said that it was allowed to bring pets to school. Olive's mother pondered the idea for a few seconds, '' Well I don't see why not. You won't feel so alone once you have a pet of your own there. Do you want one sweetheart? ''

Even tho she had not thought about it long enough, the answer was almost immediate: '' Yes, yes! Can we go see it? '' to which her mother answered with a knowing smile and a nod.

Once Olive and her mother entered Magical Menagerie, the shop where Olive was supposed to get her pet, she was extremely overwhelmed when she saw all her options. How was she even supposed to choose one of these adorable creatures? If she could, she would take every single one home and take care of them forever.

Even tho she had not had the time to ponder whether she wanted a pet or not in the past, regarding her personal preferences, she came to the conclusion that she would most enjoy taking care of a cat or a bunny, so those were the two first options that she was going to look after.

The first animals she went to see were the cats. At the time, the shop did not include a large number of options when it came to this particular animal (they only had two, one 12-year-old black cat, and a young newborn orange kitten), and the options they had were not, particularly what Ollie was looking for. So, with a sigh and a hesitant last caress to the black cat (she had tried to pet him before, however, it had been unsuccessful, since she ended up getting hissed by him), she went to check out the bunnies.

There were plenty of bunnies, contrary to the number of cats that she saw beforehand. They were all extremely cute, however, none of them seemed to be fun and lively enough for her taste. Olive picked up a few small bunnies and cuddled them, her heart almost melting. But none of them were what she was looking for.

Olive was about to give up until she saw something quite literally fly above her head and into one of the boxes. The girl tried taking a closer look at what had just occurred and only ended up seeing a long, brown, furry thing dangling from one of the bunny crates. The animal that had caused this was indeed not a bunny or a cat. It was also too large and furry to be a rat or mouse, so she was questioning what she had just seen. After taking a closer look, she saw the cutest thing ever- a brown European ferret was what had caused all this commotion.

The store owner picked up the creature, and with a smile and a laugh handed it over to Ollie. The girl stroked it with the most amount of love and care until it closed its eyes, clearly stating that he felt comfortable under her touch.

'' Mum! I think I made my decision! '' she said, once she cleared out how she felt towards the animal in her arms. One thing she knew for sure, was that she wanted this ferret to be in her life for as long as it could.
