Lucky Catch
There was a hard discomfort that December felt throughout her first weeks at Hogwarts. Aside from her inability to talk to anyone without feeling her face flush, she could feel her self-consciousness weight with her as the green peeked out on her robes. No matter how often she reminded herself that her house did not represent her identity, she couldn't help but feel the thoughts weigh on her conscious. Maybe she wasn't as nice as she thought she was. Maybe it was just that she didn't know anyone in her house. She had spent most of her week sitting in the common room, watching as small groups of Slytherin members talk and fool around. What she wouldn't give to find a friend here. Her face flushed as she recalled how silly she must have looked all week, simply sitting in the Common Room alone. How weird she must have looked.
As she walked up the stone steps to the owlery, she held several letters in her hands. Each one was colored differently, names of her family members written in careful handwriting. She murmured to herself, trying to recall which letter went where, making sure that she held a tight grip on them in the school breeze. As she finally made her way up to the fourth floor, she immediately felt at ease. Although the owlery smelt disgusting, she immediately felt more comfortable than she had been all week, looking at these intelligent eyes that glanced back at her. The view was beautiful, the weather starting to chill and leaves occasionally breezing by as December took it all in. She shook her head, getting back to the task at hand as she shuffled the letters nervously in her hands.
One by one, she visited each owl and tied the letter to them, giving them a small pat (if they would allow her) and watched each of them fly off. As she was ready to finally tie her last letter, a strong gust ran through the owlery, causing each of the owls to shudder and shake. December's hair flew into her face, obscuring her vision, as she felt her grip loosen on the last letter she held in her hand. She moved her hair out of her face, looking frantically for her letter. After several minutes of searching she saw that it has slipped in-between the cracks of the stonework in the inner wall of the owlery, a lucky catch.
She rushed over the wall frantically, trying to pry the letter out to no avail. "O-oh... oh no...," she said weakly as she looked around for someone to help her. Curious owl eyes looked back at her from each perch but no human eyes. She sighed, leaning her head against the stonework. It was just her luck this week. On top of being a shy standout, she couldn't even send all of her letters. She shuddered as she felt another roll of gust roll through, glancing to make sure that this letter would not escape her. She almost felt close to tears with her frustration, but simply took a deep breath and kept trying, reaching for this pastel pink envelope the best she could.

Please feel free to hop in! This is my first time posting on this site. She is shy but she becomes open fairly quickly as long as you're at least decent to her! If I did anything wrong, please feel free to PM me!

Lucky Catch
Tina skipped through the empty halls of the corridors with a smile stuck on her face. For the first time in a while, she was happy. She had a good amount of friends, she was getting better at talking to people, she hasn't felt anxiety and she didn't care if anyone saw her skipping through the halls.
She had put on a white short sleeve with a blue veat with the Ravenclaw sbold on it. She had on dark blue leggings and small black ankle boots. She placed her usual big black geek glasses over her gold eyes and put her hair into two pigtails. Today was going to be a day of youth and joy.
When she arrived at the owerly, she saw a girl struggling to pull out a letter from the stonework of the walls. She couldn't help but to wonder the odds of a letter getting stuck in there. Quietly, she asks, "Excuse me? Do you need help? I'm not an expert, but I think if we both pull at the letter, it might come out."
She hoped she wasn't being a bother, but she really wanted to help her out. She has been through a lot in her times at Hogwarts and wouldn't have survived if she hadn't met the people she knew today. She was still a little nervous since this is one of the rare times she started a conversation with someone.

Lucky Catch
December was startled, to say the least as she turned her head slowly towards the girl, her face flushing until it was close to the color of her red hair. "U-um..." her hands peeled away from the stonewall as she clasped them together, avoiding the girls eye's. "The help would be appreciated! If you have the time... I-I... I got really luck but I can't seem to...pull my letter out." her voice was on the quieter side as she struggled to gain composure, taking a deep breath several times throughout her sentence. She managed to glance at the girl's colors briefly. A flash of blue. Ravenclaw.
Another flash of envy followed her. What she wouldn't have given to be in a house like that, especially considering her intelligence. She was put into a house that didn't represent anything about her, and due to that she felt lonelier than ever. If anything her embarrassment was slowly turning into envy. Instead of lingering on her jealously, she instead turned back to the task at hand, her face starting to grow paler as she gained her composure. "I'm sorry if I'm... causing you trouble. I'm D-December. Like the month," her voice was shaking, stuttering, but clear as her Scottish accent rang out. She was trying her best to reach the corner of the envelope with no luck, her fingernail missing the edge of the letter by a good centimeter.
" I-I don't think we would both be able to reach it ...but if you would like to give it a go, p-please....." she had managed to make it through another sentence, a small victory. She backed up, keeping her hands clasped and her eyes down as she tried her best to keep her tears back, knowing that this girl must have thought she was strange. After all, who would have such bad luck as her's? Let alone to be silly enough to start to be in tears due to a letter being stuck.

When she saw that she startled the Slytherin girl, she mumbled an apology. Luckily, the girl still wanted her help. She moved towards the wall and closely observed the issue. The envelope wasn't too far in, but it wasn't too close either. Maybe one of the trinkets in her boots would help. She pulled out a needle, a piece of string, a pencil, a crumbled up piece of paper, and 4 buttons each representing a Hogwarts house.
When December decided that she should try instead, she chose a needle to aid her in solving the problem. She used the end of the needle to move the paper closer to the edge until she pinched herself with the sharp end. Ignoring the pain, she responed, "Oh, um, it's not a problem. And... well, I'm Tina."
When she looked up to see if the girl noticed her poor speech, she saw tears flooding down her eyes. She felt terrible since she knew what it was like to feel as if everything was helpless. She understood that the letter must be of great importance and continued to squint her eyes while using the needle. Even though this act led to more needle stabs, she wasn't going to stop until she saw that December was happy again.

December had heard the apology but if anything, she was the one who felt bad. She couldn't believe that she had been such a klutz, dropping one letter that just happened to make it into the stonewall. She honestly believed this was just some kind of joke, or maybe just a hex placed on her since birth. Her tears started to dry once she saw Tina pull out the knick-knacks from her boot, seeing the small items that would supposedly help retrieve this letter.
She nodded as Tina introduced herself, wringing her hands together. "I-is there anything I-I can do to repay you or to..? I-I don't have much," she faltered as she realized there wasn't much she could give this girl other than her thanks, as she bit her lip, feeling her flush flare as she wished it would just go down. Her discomfort was always so transparent, and she wished that there was just something that she could do to aid Tina. Instead she stood by, just wringing her hands.
"I-I guess what I'm t-trying to say is... thank you T-Tina... I really d-do appreciate it," she stuttered several times as she said her thanks, each word laced with such genuine relief as December almost felt proud that she could manage a sentence between her anxiety. She was nervously standing to the side of Tina, watching anxiously as watched her carefully attempt to retrieve it. It was almost a relief to her that someone from such a brilliant house would come by in her time of need and she was at least grateful something had worked out today in her favor.

Lucky Catch
With one final pull, Tina released the letter from the clutches of the stone. She used her uninjured hand to give December her letter before using the crumpled paper to stop the bleeding. She ignored the small light headed feeling she had as she gave a faint smile. She didn't want any materialistic items from her, but there was one thing she hoped she would let her have. "I would like your friendship, if you are willing to give it."
As Tina took a glance out the window, displaying the changing weather in November, she wasn't expecting her to say yes to her strange and frank request, but she wanted her too. She was pretty shy herself, but she was coming out of her shell. She had a good amount of friends and was doing whatever she could to avoid making enemies. She wondered what was the reason December seemed so...uncomfortable. She decided to think of a subject that would hopefully get her to talk with enthusiasm and passion. "So what's it like to be a Slytherin? I'm quite curious since I almost got sorted into that house. Do they play a lot of pranks on each other?"
She glanced at her hand to see that the blood wasn't subsiding, so she used a piece of string to add pressure and stashed the rest of her trinkets in her boots.

Lucky Catch
December could start to feel tears well up as she saw the letter in Tina's hands, a very little thing but the biggest act of kindness she had all week. She nodded her head as she took the letter from, a small tear making its way down her cheek as December managed to wipe it away quickly, the smile on her face so wide and foreign she couldn't believe it was on her face. "I-I am so grateful...I-I would love to be your friend," her voice was soft but so genuine as she managed to make her way to an owl, gently petting it before starting to begin to tie the letter around its leg, being careful in her execution.
"U-um....," she stuttered as she felt the hot shame in her as she wanted to talk about her experience but she didn't know where to start. Would it be with how out of place she felt, how uncomfortable it was to be in a house full of people who were as sly and cunning as... well she might be underneath her skin? She couldn't help but feel herself grow weary as she tried to find the words to explain how her time had been. "I-it's... not what I was expecting. It's alot.. of people... who are... alright?" she almost sounded confused as she tried to find the words but shook her head. "P-pranks are a word for it..... or... something." she smiled at Tina as the owl finally flew off, her hands clasping together. "I-I'm just glad that... w-well.... you're being nice to me." she was so glad to just... hear that someone was being kind to her. It was a kind of relief she hadn't had in a week and glad was... a word for her relief.

Tina was sure her tears were tears of joy when she received her letter, but a small part of her was worried that there was more to it. She was glad to hear that December wanted to be her friend and couldn't help but to feel a little surprised. She didn't think people would want to be friends with someone as weird as her and felt happy that December didn't seem to mind. As she spoke, Tina adored her soft voice that she believed had some sincerity and a hidden strength. She noticed that her voice became less confident when she brought up her house. Perhaps things haven't been well for December? She often felt like she didn't belong in any of the houses since she shared traits from every house. "Perhaps I can introduce you to some of my Slytherin friends. They aren't all about pranks, you know."
Changing the subject and a little curious, Tina asks, "Who is the letter for?"
Tina didn't bring her own letter since she came to visit the owls and clean the room. She missed her own animals, so the owls were the closest beings she had to pets. She didn't mind cleaning their nests even though she was sure there was already a staff member designated for the job. She missed taking care of animals and her time at Hogwarts without them made her feel a little empty inside. She walks over to an owl and gently touches their wing, having gained their trust from her previous visits.
"Actually, I have to go. Have a nice day!"

December was gladwhen she looked at Tina, feeling a relief as soon as the girl replied. "T-that... w-would...," she could barely manage out her sentence as she took a deep breath, calming her nerves. "U-um... my brother. H-he... means the world to me," her voice was gentle as a small smile appeared on her face at the thought of her brother reading through her letter. He really did mean alot to her and it was always a relief to be in this tower.
She watched Tina walk through the Owlery before taking her leave, as December couldn't manage a reply, giving a small wave as she watched the girl go. As she did, she found a seat in one of the open windows in the tower, taking
a seat as she watched the going abouts around the grounds of Hogwarts, giving herself a quick moment of serenity. She felt her hands squeeze together as she felt the smile creep up on the side of her mouth again. A friend. It was something that was a little foreign to her but she felt glad nonetheless. She watched as Tina walked away, a relief as she felt a small weight ease off her shoulders, glad to have someone that she finally knew within the grounds.
ReducioThank you for understanding my absence! I finally got through finals, finished all my classes (and passed) as well as settled down for the holidays so I'm finally good! But I'll also leave the thread!! Thanks for a great RP (and I hope we can do this again)!
