Knox had spent the majority of his first day at Hogwarts in the Great Hall, and in the Ravenclaw common room. He thought that would be the best for shaking off his first day jitters and adjusting to his new environment. He was going to be here for the next seven years- he had plenty of time to explore all of the rooms and intricacies of the Hogwarts castle. Knox was going to take his time getting used to his new school, and fully enjoy his time at Hogwarts, which he had been waiting so long for. Knox had the idea to head to the schools library, and find a few books to read. He thought that maybe if he studied up on the wizarding world in his spare time, then maybe he would be able to catch up to his older sister. At this point, she had two more years of knowledge about the wizarding world compared to him.
Although Ravenclaw students had their own library in the common room, He heard that it could not compare to the schools official library. As he approached the heavy oak door, he noticed that it was already open, making him feel welcomed to come inside. As he stepped onto the long stretch of carpet and looked around, he felt a strange feeling of comfort, something that he had been looking for since he had arrived at Hogwarts. Despite this magical place being drastically different from his traditionally muggle home, he still felt the feeling of hominess as he stepped inside.
He began to walk towards the center of the library, not exactly sure where to start looking. As he approached the entrance to the small fence, he felt the sudden urge to look down at the silver plaque next to the opening. "...restricted section." He muttered quietly as he read it, then continued to read. His eyebrows raised and his eyes widened after he read the warning. "better not be going in there." he muttered to himself quietly again. This definitely piqued Knox's curiosity. 'They have books, that are restricted?' Knox thought to himself, but ultimately, he decided that he wouldn't be trying to get in there anytime soon. 'Must be for a reason.' He thought to himself. He was new to the world of magic, and there was no telling what kinds of crazy books and spells were hidden in there.

Bored. That word was echoing in Zach's head all day. He did not know what to do to relieve his boredom. All he did was walk around and around and around and around until he saw Library. "Maybe I will find something interesting here. A book or some would make this boring time away," Zach thought. So he decided to enter the Library. He saw some students there. He knew some of them. There were also some new faces. It gave Zach a little nostalgic memory about how he enrolled in this school with zero knowledge of the wizarding world. But he was glad he had survived his first year here. He walked and passed sections and sections. History, Muggle Studies, Herbology, Zoology, Astronomy and he stopped. "I heard there is an update in Astronomy about the zodiac's system. Should I check it here?" He looked at the Astronomy section shelves for some minutes to decide whether he should take a book from this section or not.
However, he decided to go to another section. He felt Astronomy was just too hard to read that day. So he continued to walk. His glance caught a familiar student. He seemed well-dressed. Zach was sure that he saw this boy before. And suddenly a lumos shined his brain. He was a new Ravenclaw boy. Zach looked at him walking through sections maybe looking at the library like he did last year. But Zach's eyes widened when he walked towards the Restricted section. Zach followed the boy to prevent him from walking closer to the Restricted section. But it was a little bit too late. The boy arrived in front of the Restricted section. Zach wanted to shout but he remembered that he could not make any noise in the Library. He just hoped the boy not recklessly entered Restricted section. "Uhm, hi. I think we should not be here. I heard this place is dangerous for us. Let's get out of here before the librarian sees us even we just standing in front of this section," said Zach.

A red fox zipped through the library, sniffing all around and barely stopping once or twice to look at the students reading there. It had emerged from a book fort that had been constructed near the history book section and began exploring without seeming to have a care in the world, flicking its bushy tail this way and that. As it wandered around, it spotted some boys in front of the restricted books section and some young boys at that.Curious, it trotted on over, slowing its pace as it approached and cocking its ears to listen to what they were saying. One boy seemed to be telling the other that they should leave the section before the librarian caught them standing there.
Amused, the fox regarded each of the boys closely. One of them had short black hair with dark eyes and tan skin while the other boy had straight black hair, pale skin, and glasses. Making whining noises, the fox put its forepaws on the leg of the tan-skinned boy (Knox) and tilted his head at him. Then he nipped at his pant leg and pawed at him, moving to do the same thing to the other boy (Zach) next. The fox's whining got louder the more it was ignored, threatening to capture the attention of the librarian.

As Knox finally turned around, he noticed a boy with straight black hair in front of him, his eyes full of urgency, as if Knox had done something wrong. "Sorry, I was just-" He said as if he felt like he had to explain himself immediately. "-looking at the sign?" He said, but the way it said it made him look sort of suspicious, as if he were asking the boy what he was doing, rather than actually explaining what he was doing. Knox was a stickler for the rules of course, but that didn't make him look any less suspicious.
Just as he was about to walk away from the section with the other boy, he noticed a red fox trotting over to them, and begin to nip at his own pant leg. 'They let animals in here?' Knox thought to himself as he looked down at it. Knox couldn't read what the fox wanted in him in particular. When it started to whine, his eyes widened slightly, he didn't want to get caught looking so suspicious beside the newly discovered restricted section. He had just got here, he didn't want to risk getting in trouble, and creating a bad reputation for himself. Knox began to wave his hands in front of it as if he were trying to shoo it away. "is this a service animal or something?" He asked the other boy genuinely in his panic.

The Ravenclaw boy said he just looking at the sign but with a questionable intonation. Zach somewhat believed him. There was no reason for a first-year student, especially in the early days of school, go to the Restricted section. It was nonsense unless he was a reckless rebel or maybe tricked by the older students. Zach looked around to make sure that no one saw them there. "Let's go," Zach said to him with his head nod once.
However, when they were just about to walk away from there, a red fox suddenly appear and made some gestures. It started from putting its forepaws on the Ravenclaw boy and tilting his head at him. Zach found it very cute but it was not the time to adore an animal there. "Can we have fox as a pet? I can not remember if fox is allowed as a pet. Still, I definitely want a pet fox if the rule has changed," Zach thought. "Let's ignore it. We must walk away from here quickly," he said to the Ravenclaw boy.
The fox did not just put its forepaws on the Ravenclaw boy's leg. It was starting to nip his pant leg and start whining. It was also nipping Zach's denim and whined louder. "Sssssh.. Go away!" Zach gave a warning gesture to the fox like he usually did at home when his mom's patient start making a commotion. But it's getting worse. Some bad thoughts crossed his mind. What if the librarian came and found them standing there? What if because of this, the house point were deducted or even worse, the boy and him getting detention?
The boy asked him if the fox was a service animal. Suddenly something clicked in his head. Ordinary animals would not act like this. Zach know it for sure because his mom was a veterinarian. Zach also had heard some upperclass students excitedly said that they was going to get their private lesson to become an animagus last year. Animagus. Transfiguration class also briefly mentioned animagi. But the question was how to check if this fox was an animagi or not. "I don't think we have any service animal here. It's likely an animagi if my guess is not wrong," Zach said. Zach looked directly into the eyes of the fox, "Please let us go," he said. Zach just wanted them to go away from there quickly and safely.

Once the fox was sure it had the boys' attention - as it knew due to the fact that they were talking about it to one another and trying to shoo it away - it bounded ahead of them away from the restricted section, then looked back to see if they were following. One of the boys asked the other if he was a service animal while the other replied he didn't think there were any service animals there. When he mentioned animagi, the fox's ears went up and he barked once before hurrying ahead again. The boy with glasses had asked it to let them go, and let them go it would, but where did it want them to go? It seemed like there was somewhere in particular it had in mind.
Every few steps, the fox would stop and look behind it. If the boys were following, it would continue on before stopping again to check. If they weren't following, it would run back and circle their legs a couple of times before hurrying forward again, urging them on to some mysterious destination. Eventually, if they boys continued to follow, they would find themselves in the history section of the library. And there, nestled in a corner, was a rather large fort made up of books. The fox took one more look at the boys before slipping inside, its bushy tail urging them to follow.

As Knox walked away from the restricted section, trying to ignore the fox that was continuing to follow them around, he raised his eyebrow and looked over at the other boy. "An animagi?" He questioned as he continued to shoo the fox away. "Sorry- what's that?" He asked, but he was slightly distracted by the fox. Every time the fox trotted ahead, Knox would attempt to go elsewhere, trying to get away from it. He felt like the fox was keeping a close eye on him though, because it would eventually circle back around his feet. "ahh- what do you want?" Knox asked in a frustrated tone, but as soon as the Fox caught his attention, he noticed that it would start to walk forward in a hurry.
Furrowing his eyebrows, Knox thought that maybe the fox was trying to tell them something. "Hold on-" He said before the other boy could even explain to him what an animagi was. "I think it may be trying to show us something?" He said to the other boy in an unsure tone. As Knox followed the Fox into the history section of the library, he noticed the pile of books that seemed to make up a large fort. As he watched the fox disappear into the pile of books, he turned to look at the other boy and raised one of his eyebrows. He had a look on his face that almost asked. 'should we?' unsure if he should follow this thing into the fort of books.

Actually, he did not know deeply about animagi and hoped he would not give an ambiguous answer. Zach just could walk in silence following the lead of the red fox and saw the other boy struggling to go somewhere else. Fortunately, they managed to get away for the Restricted section. Unfortunately, it seemed the red fox steered them somewhere. "The fox really wants us to follow it," said Zach with a sigh. On their walk, he found that the bushy tail of the red fox actually looked so fluffy and... adorable. Zach wanted to touch its tail but he could not. First, his mom awared him that touching wild animals without adult supervision can be dangerous. Second, if it really is an animagi, it would be so awkward for him. "But hey, following wild animals is also dangerous, right?" Zach thought.
His awareness suddenly came back. "Oh yeah, briefly animagi is-" the other boy interrupted Zach. He told him that the fox might be trying to show them something. Zach could not help but agreed with him. It definitely wanted to show something by steering them to somewhere. They followed the fox to the history section and Zach saw a pile of books that looked like a fort or something similar. The fox nestled into it and the boy gave a gesture to ask if they should follow it. He thought the answer must be no but he also thought that the fox might run faster than them and caught them in the end. So he answered, "What can we do? The fox might bite us if we run now. Let's just hope we will not face any dangerous thing that might cause the loss of our house points or worse, detention. Uh, let's go." He said that. But deep down in his heart, he really wanted to run and told the librarian that there was a fox in the Library. Zach prepared a comfortable position to immediately grab his wand just in case he needed it.

If the two boys followed the fox into the book fort, they would find a third boy who was about 5'4" or 162.56 cm tall seated in a corner of it. He grinned mischievously, his hazel eyes glittering with interest and his red hair streaked with blonde and brown highlights - just like the fur of the red fox.
"An animagus is a witch or wizard who can turn into an animal," he explained, picking up where the boy with glasses (Zach) left off. "And great job guessing I am one, because you're right. Anyway, nice to meet you two! I'm Jack Burnett. Welcome to my book fort. Please, make yourselves at home," the Slytherin said, extending his arms to emphasize his words.
"What are your names? And what kinds of books do you two like to read? Presuming that's what you came to the library to do, of course." He chuckled lightly. "My favorite happen to be history books, but I've been known to enjoy a good fairy tale or two. What do either of you like about Hogwarts? Is there anything you two plan to do while you're here?" The fifth year beamed at them. "Like, say, become animagi? It's a little difficult and not for everyone, but if you want to do it, it's definitely worth the trouble and the wait."

As Knox walked with the other boy into the pile of books, he looked around, amazed at how big the fort actually was when he stepped inside of it. He only stayed distracted by this for a split second, because when he entered he didn’t see the fox that had been previously pestering him, but instead an older boy with red hair. As the red haired boy spoke, everything began to click for Knox and he understood what the boy was. He tried not to show how amazed he was in his face when he realized what had happened. Performing this level of magic must be extremely difficult, because even his older sister hadn’t mentioned that there were students who could turn into animals.
“I’m Knox Knoles, Ravenclaw, First year. I enjoy history books as well.” He said, introducing himself very formally to both of the boys. As he introduced himself, he stuck out his hand to Zach so he could shake it, then to Jack. After introducing himself, he took a second to really think about the next question he was asked. He hadn’t really thought about focusing on one specific thing. He had spent the last two years just wanting to learn about magic. He let out a small laugh at the question that was asked, as if it were absurd. “I suppose I just want to experience everything that Hogwarts has to offer, at its fullest.” He said with a smile.
There was no possible way that Knox could become a master of everything in the wizarding world, but at his young age, he still possessed a glimmer of hope in his eyes that said he was confident in his ability to achieve his goals.
