The young Gryffindor is observing her own body, doing some slight movements with her arms and with the adrenaline slowly dying down, the pain is becoming more… noticeable. 3 hits from a powerful knockback jinx and she won't deny it, it hurts like hell. But that certainly was quite an experience. From the moment it began, she already knew the outcome, that she had no chance of getting a hit on someone with a lot more experience, a win that's far beyond her reach yet she tried, just for the heck of it. This turned out fun if you ignore the fact that she took a beating.

Dueling is thrilling, the older girl spoke up just when she was sitting down beside the younger one. That she agrees. Dueling is thrilling, fun. Just the thought of casting spells against others in a moderated fight is enough to make the adrenaline rush. It might be different from a life and death situation but it is close enough to simulate a real duel between magical folks. "It is indeed thrilling." Raizel chuckled before watching the older girl got up and then returning with a bar of chocolate, breaking it into half. "Oh, thanks." She accepted the offer, taking a bite.

"Spells are brilliant." Raizel spoke up. "I like them a lot, learning them and no, not yet at least…" the girl said when she was asked if she was in the dueling team. Her name is on the waitlist for now, when that'll move into the official roster, that she doesn't. While the thought of finally getting promoted into the team had her excited, it is also inducing anxiety. What if she's not ready? Then she'll just be a burden to her team. "Hopefully soon, I am trying to get some practice going or maybe, some unofficial duels for experience."

And then the magic question that most people forget in every meeting for some reason, names. Not like she's any better for she does the same, completely forgetting to ask who she is talking with. "Raizel, that's my name. And… you are?" She asked her. While she is familiar with those in the dueling teams, names aren't that easy to remember for this Gryffindor. "I don't know about becoming 'awesome' though but I sure would like some advice from experienced duelists." Raizel said with a smile.

Giving Raizel a sidelong glance, Dee took a bite of her own chocolate, listening to the girl's explanation. She just... liked spells? Huh. Dee had never thought of it like that. While she could imagine a lot of reasons for studying spells beyond her year - getting ahead of her class, an advantage in duelling, or simply because she needed that particular spell for something - learning spells just for the sake of it had never crossed her mind. She loved duelling, but it was mostly the rush of it; attacking, evading, proving you were better, more capable than your opponent. Sure, knowing advanced spells was part of that, but the spells were still just a means to an end.

Perhaps, she figured, it was more like what she felt about potions. Of course, all the potions she brewed had a good and practical use, but that was usually not the main reason she brewed them, and she had really no logical explanation for why she spent so much time in the Potions classroom, doing Professor Regan's chores. She just liked the way it made her feel, it was the most peace she got. She'd brewed potions just for the sake of it. "Interesting," was all she replied, a glint in her eyes. "You're a little odd, aren't you? Not in a bad way. Maybe I can teach you a spell or two some time."

She hummed a little, the sound non-committal, when the girl said she was trying to get in some practice before joining the official duelling team. If she was looking for encouragement, she likely had the wrong person; Dee had started duelling the same way she did everything else, by diving right in, both feet, no hesitation. There had been no taking it slow, no preparation, apart from that one chess combat game during summer. Instead, she'd gone right for captain, and kept the job for two years. After all, what was the point of doing something if you weren't going to do it properly? She missed being a captain, too. "Hey," she said, guided by a flash of inspiration. "If you ever need a referee for one of those unofficial matches, let me know. I used to moderate official matches, maybe I can help you out." An offer to help provoked by selfish reasons, but an offer nonetheless.

Then, finally, introductions. "Hi Raizel," Dee responded, flashing the girl a sunny smile. "I'm Dee, and I'm awesome." The statement was accompanied by a wink and a victory sign. "As can you be, have some faith. Perhaps not quite as awesome as me, but at least... awesome-adjacent." She swallowed another bite of chocolate, then eyed Raizel with keen eyes. The Gryffindor still moved like she was at least eighty years old. Perhaps chocolate hadn't been enough to fix everything.

"Alright, hold on," she ordered, tugging her wand out of her pocket, then pointed it at Raizel. "Episkey."

It was a half-hearted cast, incantation muttered around the rest of her chocolate, but it worked, if barely. There was no visible effect, but Raizel would be able to feel it, a hot sensation where the bruises that were still forming would heal, and pain would fade. Dee slipped her wand back into her pocket, then popped the last bit of chocolate into her mouth. "There," she said, chewing, the words coming out a little muffled. "Sorry, I'm not much of a healer." She didn't sound very sorry. "But that should've helped a bit, eh?"

Charms, Jinxes, Hexes, Curses, all of those were interesting for the Gryffindor girl. She was mostly captivated by Charms though, having a certain affinity to them. It was the first ever spell she had seen cast before her after all. It was the one that had sparked her desire to learn about it, maybe it can be called an obsession at this point.

Now that she's trying to go down the path of a duelist, that is something that she could take advantage of. She's learning advanced spells that aren't taught in her year yet through some advanced reading, satisfying her cravings for more spells in her arsenal and she's getting ahead of others when it comes to the number of spells she could use in duels. That's a win-win situation for her. It'd be brilliant if she manages to use the spells that she had learned in her duels if the time comes for it anyway.

Putting what you learn into use, that's one of the reasons why she picked dueling as a possible sport to try. Broom racing has spellcasting and she won't lie, it looks a lot more thrilling than dueling in her opinion considering that you have obstacles to avoid while trying not to get hit by spells from your opponents. Everything out there is out to kill you. It's chaotic and that chaotic energy is luring in this girl who seeks such excitement. But no, she didn't go for it. Instead, she went for dueling. It might not be as action-packed as broom racing, but it focuses more on spells, on strategies. Shooting spells at each other without anything else to think about other than beating your opponent with your skills and an arsenal of jinxes, curses, hexes and charms gives a whole different kind of thrill, especially for someone like her who's completely obsessed with spells.

You're a little odd, aren't you?

That remark from the older girl made her laugh. "I guess I am." Raizel replied back to her, simply accepting that. Yeah, perhaps she is a little odd. Who in their right mind would do something like face off against someone who's years ahead of you. Well, she did say it in a good way.

Her eyes gleamed as soon as she heard the older student offered her the chance to be taught some spells and to oversee some dueling practice and oh boy, that made her feel so energized. It was like, for a brief moment, the pain that she's feeling had disappeared after hearing those words. "Oh! I would gladly take you on that offer." Raizel told her with a cheerful tone in her voice. "I'll come and find you if I get someone to practice with me."

"Dee…" she repeated the name once they had started introducing themselves to each other and yes, she agrees, she's awesome. "Nice to meet you Dee. I'm gonna try and become as awesome as you then or close enough at least." Not like she's sure if she'll be able to but never hurts to strive. Who knows. She paused, watched the older girl point her wand at her and then listened to the incantation of the spell she had casted. Episkey.

Some of the pain that she's feeling had began to slowly fade away thanks to the spell, the Gryffindor looking up to Dee and still with amazement in her eyes. "Was that a healing spell?" She asked her. "That was brilliant! Thanks. I think it helped a lot." Raizel does feel a lot better than earlier. Might not be that much but better than nothing. She stood up, wobbling on her feet for a bit but she managed this time. Just enough energy to make it back to the common rooms hopefully. "I can stand up now. Great! What other spells do you know?" Raizel asked Dee with enthusiasm present in her voice.

Dee swallowed the last of her chocolate, eyebrows quirking up in amusement. "It was, yeah. You'll learn that one in fourth year... or maybe earlier than that if you keep studying ahead." The comment was followed up with the flash of a grin, referring to the girl's earlier use of advanced spells. The first healing spell Dee had learned had been Reparifors in her third year; and perhaps it was due to the class she'd learned it in, or simply that she did not possess an affinity for this specific discipline of magic, but her healing spells had never come out quite as powerful as those of some of her peers. She'd learned to accept it; her talents lay elsewhere, and luckily, her friends were more interested in healing than she was, anyway.

The next question had laughter bubbling up in her throat, surprised; she'd never tried to make a list of all the spells she knew, and her thoughts immediately started racing through spells and classes attended in her almost four years at this school. It must be what, more than a hundred and fifty now? Two hundred? It was hard to tell.

"I know... a few," she replied, grinning. "I don't think I have time to demonstrate all of them, but I can probably show you a couple of them, eh?"

Hopping to her feet, she moved a few steps away and drew her wand, still contemplating on what she wanted to show her new acquaintance. Something flashy, perhaps. She was not beyond showing off, that was for certain. Pointing her wand upwards, Dee tried to recall the lesson; this was not a spell she'd used often so far. "Stella Cascadia!" she incanted, then watched as stars started flashing, raining down from the ceiling. She smiled, pleased at the effect, then twirled around and gave Raizel a mocking curtsy. "Want to see more?"

“Awww, sounds like a long wait.” The Gryffindor was slightly disappointed at the fact that the healing spell that Dee used was being taught during the fourth year. She was a bit eager to learn that one as she kind of finds it rather useful to have, not just in terms of dueling though. Who knows when you’ll get hurt either by accident or get into a fight with someone. Not to mention, from what she had heard with other students, the danger that somehow lurks within the castle walls or the unexpected turn of events in Hogwarts’ balls. A healing potion or a healing spell would certainly come in handy in those situations. Hopefully, she does come across that one during her advance reading.

“Oh?” Her eyes lit up, the earlier disappointment disappearing and replaced by a look of excitement. “Yes please! Just a few would be brilliant!” Raizel said to Dee, a hint of eagerness present in her voice as she took a couple of steps back, waiting patiently for the older student to cast her spell. She watched Dee point her wand upwards, eyes on her every move as she casted an unfamiliar spell. Stars began to fall from above, the younger one looking up with awe and almost falling back on her behind if she didn’t caught herself for walking and leaning back a lot.“Woah! Awesome!” A wide grin was present on her face at that time, watching the descending stars until her gaze fell on Dee. “Yes!” she immediately answered when she was asked if she wanted to see more. Who would say no to more demonstrations?

"Eh, it'll pass faster than you think." Dee yawned and leaned back on her hands, letting her eyes wander to the windows. "And you'll learn a lot of other spells in the meantime." She was wasting the practice time she'd planned to sneak in, but honestly, did she need it? Her last duels had been a walk in the park, even if Dee's aim had been a bit off. And showing off in front of Raizel was way more fun than setting a dummy on fire again and again. And again. And again.

So show off she did; perhaps she could pretend that she was practicing her spells (but really, she was showing off). Raizel was easily impressed, too, which of course only spurred Dee on more, and she flashed a grin at the Gryffindor's enthusiasm. "Alright," she agreed easily, flipping her wand between her fingers as she considered. There weren't many spells as flashy as the star shower spell, but she should be able to manage something.

"Oh!" her face lit up. "How about this." Turning so she was facing away from Raizel, she raised her wand until it was roughly at eye level. "Flagrate," she muttered, then started tracing the tip of her wand through the air, watching as it left fiery lines where it passed. Now, if Dee had even half an ounce of artistic talent, she might have drawn something impressive, but since she didn't, she just drew something that vaguely resembled a cow. Or a chicken.

"You'll learn that one sooner," she explained when she was done, obviously pleased with her work. A quick glance around the room told her that it had start emptying quite a while ago; it was getting late. "We should probably head to dinner," she suggested with a grin. "But it was a pleasure practicing my aim on you." She winked at the girl. "Let me know if you ever want a repeat."

Despite being told that time will pass by quickly, that still feels like a very long time for this enthusiastic Gryffindor who had certainly taken a liking to learning new spells, especially those that aren't being taught in her current year. Well, if she wants to get there faster then she'll just have to keep on doing what she's been doing these past few months, advance studying, especially since Dee mentioned that she might be able to learn it earlier if she keeps on studying ahead. That's what she'll do but for now, she's gonna enjoy this demonstration.

What spells will she see? Even simple ones that she hasn't seen before would definitely impress her right now. Easily impressed is the right word for her indeed. The Gryffindor waited patiently for the older student's demonstration, completely forgetting the exhaustion that she had. Eyes brightened up as soon as she heard the incantation, another spell that she hadn't seen before was performed right before her eyes. A fiery drawing of… something, she couldn't tell what. A cow? A chicken? Well, whatever it is, it was still brilliant in the eyes of the young witch. "Oh that was amazing." Even more so when she was told she'll learn that one quickly.

The mention of them getting dinner made Raizel paused, only realizing the time now. Time sure flies when you're having fun. "Didn't realize it was getting late." The girl said with a sheepish grin. "Oh! I'll definitely call you up again for another round and maybe then, I could get a hit in." She doubts it but who cares at this point. It's just an excuse to see the Ravenclaw once again. Their time was short and despite getting beaten up, she still had fun with her. She's looking forward to the day that they get to spar again and hopefully, the Gryffindor would become more of a challenge by then.
