Ripping After Detention
As soon as out of the door of the nearly empty classroom, Elizabeth took of her jacket she was wearing outside her Ravenclaw-pride outfit. She had the strangest of all feelings that Clair would not have approved of this particular attire, thus had worn the jacket, covering up every single Ravenclaw-themed thing, until now. With a sigh of relief, she stopped near the classroom door to wait fo Cassie, who had not yet finished her detention.
She stuffed her detention letter for Colin roughly into Colin's hands before he coulf get away, expecting a letter from him in return, which was what Clair had asked for. But keeping the essay as a constant reminder of this foul detention in the smelly room stuck in a buddy shirt with Colin was torture, so she got it out of her pocket and withing seconds was ripping the parchment into pieces.
"Incendio!" she whispered, pointing her wand at the pieces of paper, which were burnt into ashes. She threw the ashes carefully out of the window and waited for Cassie to finish her detention near the classroom door...
There was a owl coming flying with a red envolope, the unmistakable sight of a howler. It was undoubtedly from Mark. Elizabeth sighed, looking at the smoking envolope, which exploded.
"YOU ARE A DISGRACEFUL GIRL!!!!!!
YOU BEWITCH OUR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!
...
..."
Marks voice bellowed out of the envolope. Elizabeth sighed, and threw it out of the window, too.

Ripping After Detention
While Ava never hung around in the corridors for long periods of time, she sure was taking her sweet time to get back down to the dungeons where her common room was. She was in her own world, seemingly daydreaming about a certain potions assignment that had been marked with an O. It was alright to be proud of things like that, and she usually was rubbish at that sort of thing. She still remembered a class with @Charlie Jacobsen where she had ruined the potion. Somehow.
Engrossed in her memories and prides, she barely noticed a ravenclaw girl (confirmed by the outfit she was wearing) rush out of a classroom. However, she did notice the tearing sound and the smell of burning. Also the sound of a parent angry screaming, indicating a howler nearby. Pulling away, reluctantly, from her thoughts, she focused on the task at large. "What are you doing?" She asked, too curious about what was happening to worry about how the girl would react to her.
Only a few months ago she had done a terrible crime, almost murdering another boy in her house (with good reason, in her opinion) before withdrawing hastily. She had been sent to St. Mungoes for rehab, but had returned to Hogwarts later. Many people didn’t take kindly to her (also with good reason) and she was often afraid of what others would choose to do to her when they saw her.
Ava could see the charred remains of a paper floating down from the window and furrowed her brows, turning to the girl. "I thought ravenclowns— I mean ravenclaws didn’t like the destroying of knowledge or whatever." With the exception of Oliver…or so she liked to think. "Isn’t that parchment that could be used to store knowledge?" She asked. "And what’d you do to deserve a howler?"

Colin was smiling as he left the classroom! All memory of the recent detention had flown from his mind! All memories, that is, except for those of seeing Clair's beautiful self sitting at the desk in front of him! Colin sighed. Who would have thought that detention could be so awesome! It's true that when he first heard the news that his girlfriend had been named Prefect, he came up with all sorts of schemes to keep out of detention.
But now?
What could be better than serving detention with your girlfriend!? It was like having an extra date! And that was awesomeness itself. He reckoned that unless he did something really boneheaded like get into a fight with someone, she'd probably not mind giving him the occasional detention. And he certainly wouldn't mind serving! And, of course, there was always the chance of chatting with her and maybe sneaking down to Hogsmeade after!
Colin's bare feet carried him out of the classroom. He had gotten his shirt about half buttoned back up. Eugh. He saw the yellow haired girl. She was removing her jacket. He smirked. She'd hidden all of her Ravenclaw pins and badges the whole time! Colin chuckled. Maybe that alerted her to his presence, because she stuffed a piece of parchment into his hand. Must be her letter. Well, Colin stuffed his letter into her hand!
Colin smiled at the sight of an owl flying in through the open window in the corridor. For a moment he wondered if it might not be for him. Surely his Ma would not forget to send him a letter about earning his second detention in two years! But no! The owl dropped a curious red envelope which floated in the air before Yellow Hair's face! Colin laughed. "Hah! Ye got a howler! Good for you! Was that yer Da then? Didn't waste any time noticing yer well earned detention!"
Then Colin smelled disaster in the air.
It wasn't the scent of burning parchment.
It was the scent of a deadly enemy.
It spoke. Colin knew it was a fellow Snake. But not all snakes are cunning and wise. Some snakes are all venom and poison and rot. And this one stank of it. It spoke. Colin knew the voice well enough. But he knew the scent better. His body tensed. Ready not to flee, but to attack! It spoke. Might as well have been in Parseltongue, Colin thought. The sound of its voice grated on Colin's ears and the smell of it offended Colin's nose and the sight of it caused Colin's face to set in low anger.
Its name was Ava. A name Colin would never speak. People said boys like him were monsters. And here, those same people let a monster roam free in the halls of the school. Had its blood lust been eradicated from its mind whilst at St Mungo's or did it still prowl the night with one fang ready to bite?
Colin pushed past the Ravenclaw girl.
He got right up into Ava's face.
There was no sign of the usually happy boy. His eyes focused on Ava's, and he snarled. He didn't push her against the wall, but if she tried anything, he would.
"I see they let you out of yer cage. Back here where you don't belong. You belong in Azkaban for what you did."
Colin's voice was low. Like a growl. His fists clenched. It broke his heart to say those things, but they were the truth. Monsters deserved either to be put down or to be locked away. Colin kept reaching for his wand, and kept lowering his left hand by sheer will power. Away from the sheath strapped around his right arm.
He looked the creature up and down. It still looked like the girl he had met so many months ago. "You stink. Everything about you is rot. Why did they even let you back here!?" Colin's voice raised slightly in the empty corridor. He had to get out of here! He wasn't afraid to face the girl --- no, he was afraid of what he might do.
Yes, people called boys like him monster. If he let himself go, they would become justified. They would say: see, he attacked the poor poor girl, right there in the corridor! What did she do to him? Huh. How quickly people forget. Colin, no, Colin would never forget. He turned and walked away from the two girls.
This was not over. This thing between him and Ava Winchect.

Colin will leave the thread unless dragged back.

Ripping After Detention
A girl came. Elizabeth did not have to think twice to know who this was. Ava Winchect. The Ava Winchect. Accused of almost murdering a boy. Elizabeth had heard other people talking about her, not a single whisp of longing to find out what really happened. Elizabeth held that longing.
Ava asked what Elizabeth was doing.
"Waiting," she said.
Ava asked why Elizabeth wanted to destroy the piece of parchment.
"See, I wouldn't burn a piece of paper if it contained anything descent!" Elizabeth told her.
Ava asked why Elizabeth got a Howler.
"Mark never understands whatever I do," Elizabeth replied, tears filling her eyes and she quickly mopped them away, "I get scold for everything. Once I hitted Reb all for good reason, but nobody understands anything. Without asking why I did it Mark told me off. I've apparently done 834903 'disgraces' on my family already." She sighed.
Then Colin asked if her Dad sent the Howler.
"Dad will never send a Howler, he's a muggle," Elizabeth informed him, still mopping her eyes, "It was Mark, my brother."
Colin advanced on Ava. He shot insults at her. He said she doesn't belong at Hogwarts, and belongs in Azkaban. He said she stinks and rots. After that he went away.
"Why?" Elizabeth whispered to Ava, green and blue eyes sparkling without her knowing, "Why did you try to murder that boy? There must be some reason. What did he do to you? Why do you hate him?" her head shook slightly as she looked imploringly at Ava, desperate for answers. She was, after all, an adventurer and seeker of the truth. "Why? Are you sorry for you actions? Why was the boy 'almost' killed? Do you..." she took a deap breath before asking this question, "Do you think you deserve... another chance?"
Elizabeth was crying full pelt now. She wondered why she was doing this.

Ripping After Detention
The ravenclaw girl was kind enough to answer all her questions, and Ava wondered where the hassle was. Where the fight was. Most people refused to even speak to her, let alone answer her tirade of questions. Not that she had ever tried before now. Oddly enough, she had never approached anyone she hadn’t talked to after the incident, and now she was doing it to this rather violent ravenclaw girl. A strange choice.
Colin showed up right after the ravenclaw had answered her questions, and he asked a question of his own. Which she did not head, because she leapt backwards in shock. She only approached back slowly when she saw the ravenclaw girl answer his question.
Ava thought she would stay unnoticeable, or Colin would ignore her. Or maybe he would leave without another word. But that wouldn’t be Colin. He always had to get the last word in. No matter what. And it was by her great luck that it had to happen in the busy hallways, where everyone would hear it. Once Colin caught sight of her, he pushed past the ravenclaw girl and got right up in her face. She closed her eyes and backed away, not caring how many people she hit before she got away. But closed eyes wouldn’t stop the words from reaching her ears. The insults, the accusations, the taunts. Those were words she would never forget, no matter how hard she tried to forget them.
She had thought she was only saying it in her head. No, no, no, no, no. In reality, she was whispering it under her breath, her words steadily gaining volume. "No, no, no, no, no, no!" She whispered, the last word finally being spoken at a speaking level. But Colin’s keen werewolf ears would hear every word, and he would react with malice. She had imagined this scenario in her minds eye plenty of times. Hundreds, maybe thousands. But all of the solutions she had thought of were forgotten in the moment where it counted.
Ava never got a chance to retort. Just as quick as he had appeared, he was gone. Probably for the better, because she would’ve said something stupid. She opened her eyes and massaged her temple, a headache forming and pounding her skull.
The nagging wasn’t over, though. Now it was her turn to answer an onslaught of questions. Questions she had been asked so many times before. She ought to just write the answers on notecards and hand them out to the entire school. She wouldn’t have to answer so many questions.
It was only fair that she answer the questions. She closed her eyes and sighed deeply. "I’ll tell you the whole story. I will not repeat it, got it?" She opened her eyes briefly to watch the ravenclaw. "We were in the slytherin common room. Talks of pranking the griffindorks were the main conversation. I was unnoticed, which annoyed me. Before I could say a word, Thorn Cullen butted in, revealing the group to be." Ava took a deep breath. "Were—another race. I made a mistake, okay?" She took a shaky breath and a tear dripped down her face. "I threatened to tell the entire school what they were if they didn’t let me in. Didn’t end well." Ava allowed a flat laugh to escape her lips. "Basically, I ended up against the wall with them threatening to—oh alright, they’re werewolves. They threatened to turn me." She paused as she let her thoughts regather. "Saw then again about a week later. Same thing pretty much happened, ending in Thorn Cullen cutting a girl’s hair with a knife and me pinned to the wall, again, with another threat riding on my back. The same threat as before." She realized she was shaking slightly, which wasn’t surprising, given what she was recounting. "I was so scared. I couldn’t tell anyone what was threatened, for fear they would carry it out. I didn’t sleep that night, I was afraid they would turn me. 48 hours, sleepless. By that time, my fight instinct kicked in. Get rid of the threat. I was so tired I didn’t even think to question what I was doing. Until it was too late. Only seconds before I was going to lower the knife, I realized how wrong I was. Got found out, of course. Heck, I was screaming just as loud as Lucian was. Headmaster blasted a hole through the wall, and I was taken to St. Mungo’s. A lot better than Azkaban, but still terrible. I changed there, alright? I deserve a second chance." Ava fell silent, and seemed too engrossed in her thoughts to say another word.
After a thought, she decided to leave. "I’ve got to go." She said and she tore off, away from the girl she had just confessed to.

Elizabeth understood, yet do not understand. She stirred herself, shaky tears pouring down without her consent as Ava relieved the horrifying truth. Only one sentence got through to her brain.
"I deserve a second chance," Ava told her.
There was a long silence. A silence which seem to sink the whole thing into Elizabeth's brain.
"They're... werewolves?" she whispered, "They... threatened you? Colin -- he was so unreasonable to insult you for something he doesn't know about." And that was when it all clicked together in her brain. Her eyes went wide with shock. Her mouth fell open into a perfect "O". "He's..." she whispered, terrified, "He's... one? Did he threaten you?" Elizabeth looked in the direction Colin had just went.
Elizabeth looked into Ava's eyes. She knew exactly what it felt like. It was like the day she called Mark an idiot, but regretted it all the same soon afterwards, and after that everyone remembered it, no one bothered to forget it, not one single person. It was the exact same feeling. Only much, much more horrible. Elizabeth now understand. She wanted to help the poor girl.
"You're right," she whispered, "You deserve a second chance."
Elizabeth mopped her eyes and, gingerly, extended her hand to Ava.
"I'll help you, Ava," she told her, "I promise I will."
