Dueling Club

Aries walked over to the Dueling grounds furiously. How could those Slytherins think they were so good like that. They weren't better than anyone. Aries wasn't against Slytherins, her best friend was one, she just hated when they acted like that. I challenge you to a duel she said Now that Aries thought of it it wasn't such a good idea, but she was sure she would win. She pulled out her snallygaster heartstring core wand and rubbed the end. Im ready she thought to herself. But maybe we'llget to know eachother, no I can't act all Hufflepuffy right now. I must prode as a Gryffindor and win Everyone had always wanted to see a fight between Gryffindor and Slytherin, and it was finally happening. The two girls placed themselves on a side of the dueling ground. Aries had many thoughts arise as she stood on the dusty grounds with pride that might have been too harmful. Her first instinct was to just start, but that would leave her at a disadvantage anyhow. She kept silent and though about something else. Aries was sure that this was fair, she was a first year, and Estelle, her teammate who was surely coming a second year, just like the opposing Slytherin team. They waited calmly without saying a word. Aries was confident.

I didn't go up to anyone due to the fact that I have such a reputation already. I sighed again and started to pay closer attention to things. The dueling is going to be fun but I know Duvessa wont lose so easily. She is one of a kind to me at least.

The dueling grounds were bustling, and students seemed to pass through for many reasons; a shortcut to class, practicing a new spell, or to laugh at the first years sparring with flimsy swings of their wands. Today, a Slytherin first year, Onyx, was seemingly taunting a Gryffindor that Isabelle recognized as Aries. Onyx had the most striking hair she had ever seen, admittedly making her a tad self conscious of her plain brown layers. Both girls had their seconds, two Slytherin girls Isabelle didn't know off-hand. As she was reading 'The Dark Forces; A Guide to Self-Protection' under a large tree, she decided, after hearing Onyx egging Aries on, to be the voice of reason. I know this isn't my place, she started, but I'm going to make it my place, Do either of you know any spells? From what I gather you both have probably learned about two- three at max- and my guess is neither of them are offensive. Isabelle was now standing promptly in between the dueling girls. She kept going. Now I am aware that this age old rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin gives one an itch to battle each other at any given time, however this apparent grudge tends to create interpersonal conflicts that simply don't need to be there. She internally cringed, realizing she sounded like her Nana trying to calm her battling cousins.

Excuse me? Who are you? Aries screamed internally, why do I sound rude. Oh well. It doesn't matter. Why couldn't that Ravenclaw go back to reading whatever book she was reading. Aries bit her lip and thought. So what if I only know a few spells? Atleast I'm not a scared Slytherin like her Aries pointed to Onyx. What if OnyxAries hadn't thought of that one. Onyx is the same year as me, how could she be any better This sounded logical to Aries, and she took a step forward to show her confidence. Onyx might be the same year but she could be way ahead of you, her brain rushed, you haven't even started classes, what spells do you know. Uhh. Where is Estelle she thought to herself. Aries wasn't worried, but Estelle was there when she challenged Onyx and Duvessa. Duvessa didn't say anything, and that's what made Aries a little worried. Duvessa could be having secret plans just waiting to impale someone, or she could be really nice. She waited for someone to say something but was interrupted by an angry Ravenclaw. Aries kept quiet and didn't say a word. She pointed her wand but then slowly drifted it back down in its place.

Look, I know I'm not the most educated Ravenclaw in this arena. I just don't think sending sparks at each other is going to suddenly end this ten century feud! Isabelle said it angrier than she had intended to, but her point still stood. Isabelle could feel the pink of her cheeks and the embarrassing sweat stains blooming. She also noticed that Aries had lowered her wand slightly. She decided to keep going. Besides, you can't possibly know what your opponent is ready or prepared to do. Unless you're a legillimens, is that a skill you possess? Isabelle was aware she said it more tauntingly than she should've-- she scaled back, not wanting to get involved in anything bigger than she could truly take. I won't say more, but don't think I'll be laughing with the rest of the school when one of you gets knocked over. Truly she didn't want to see her peers get hurt, and she would help either one to the hospital wing if they would let her. It wasn't in her nature to leave those hurt on their own; an important lesson her mother taught her when she was wee. She opened her book, her eye ironically catching a particular paragraph on knockback jinxes.

Aries didn't even mind the Ravenclaw called Isabelle. In fact she would love her on her team. Isabelle seemed intelligent but Aries knew everyone had flaws. Isabelle seemed the type to walk away if she saw a fight, it seemed pratical anyway. But right now she was doing just the exact opposite, who knew Ravenclaws were so courageous. Aries could see Isa's Hufflepuff friend waving and calling for her, and either she didn't care or she just pretended not to notice. She just wished Miss Artt would stop interfering in a Slythedor matter. This had nothing to do with her. Honestly, Aries felt like Ravenclaws should be less overrated. She thought they were peaceful and awesome. She didn't know how a Ravenclaw would interest in battle though. Look here, as right as you may be, we can solve this matter ourselves But Aries's mind had other intentions. She urged herself not to give in but alas she couldn't If you think you're so talented why don't you join, Our team or theirs? Please be ours Aries muttered, I can't handle a Ravenclaw on those Slytherin's team. Oh please.You don'thave to do this, one of the girls from the Slytherin team told Isa.Your choice, Aries said hoping she would pick right.

Isabelle sighs, reluctant to take sides because she didn't need to be making enemies out of the gate. She had barely gotten to know anyone in her house, and causing problems with other houses was only going to make friendships harder to find! Plus it could lose her house points... Isabelle huffed, trying to put together all the pieces of this puzzle. It was very possible Onyx had a sneak hidden in her sleeves, as did tend to be a tendency of Slytherins (she was told), but Aries had the confidence that Onyx failed to display in this moment. Onyx was loud, but it could all be bluff. She closed her book curtly. I am not here to take sides, she said quietly. and I am not willing to attack, or do anything with a wand if i can help it. However, if you need backup I will provide where I can. Isabelle side-eyes their adversary. I know Gryffindors like to be brash at times, but let me implore you to at least try and be practical. Slytherin are cunning by nature, after all. She didn't drive home her neutrality quite as hard as she wanted, but she needed some kind of out so as to not be a victim in the hospital wing. With one last sigh, Isabelle sidestepped just outside of the crossfire.

"Ugh! Do you mind shutting your bloody mouth! NO one cares!" I yelled at the girl in front of me. She was trying to defuse it and I wanted to watch it. "This bloody fight is going to be a good one so just get yourself out of the way before I make you. Alright?" I looked at Duvessa who was clearly annoyed as much as me.
"Plus once you challenge someone to a duel. You can't Back down." I cackled once again and looked back at the girl who stood between them. If she did not move soon I would be forced to do something. I may not be someone who knows a lot of spells but I sure can do something.
I smirked when I got a look from the other too. "What? Are you not gonna fight? Well I guess we won because YOU backed down." I didn't know the rules too well but I was egging her on but how would she know that? I laughed once again getting more looks. I waited to see what was gonna happen as that girl opened her mouth again to say something.
Quiet annoying I must say. I sighed looking at them both waiting for something else other than this stupid convincing to end. She goes we win like I said Duvessa doesn't lose duels so easily.
