IT IS THE BEST HOUSE!!!!! open Closed

Colin's eyes opened as wide as the castle portals and his jaw literally dropped to the floor. Yellow hair started right in with the whole 'Ravenclown' thing. Puh-lease! That was hardly the worst thing one could say, and really, it was just a bit of interhouse teasing!

His glance shifted from one girl to the other.

"W---!"

Yellow Hair began to actually twist Colin's words around! Colin never said that Clair was good at getting angry! Obviously! Obviously that was directed at the banshee!

"I---I---!"

But Colin couldn't get a word in edgewise as Elizabeth kept spinning her web of deceit! Now she dragged his mates into it as well. She gabbed on about how she and the banshee used intelligence and words to defend their house, while it was Colin and the girls who did all the screaming and yelling! Surely Clair would be able to see through all this nonsense! He knew she could she right through him if he ever tried this kind of thing!

"Hey---!"

But her scathing farce of a defense only got worse! Bad words? Insults? That was soooo wrong! It didn't happen that way at all! Colin thought desperately to try and recollect the events of, what, ten minutes ago? She accused Colin of shouting! She accused Colin of starting the whole thing! She accused Embers and Lills of encouraging him! That --- that didn't happen, did it?

"Wait---"

And then she said there were witnesses! Colin looked around. He actually felt a bit scared! There were other kids around, sure, but were they even paying attention? He took note of one boy sitting a little way off. A Hufflepuff. He had an interested expression on his face. He'd probably watched the whole exchange. No telling what he thought of it though! Colin shook his head slightly. None of the other kids had taken part or interrupted them. Obviously, they couldn't have thought that Colin was causing all the ruckus! Right?

Colin tried to focus on what had actually happened, rather than on the fanciful tale Miss Yellow Hair was weaving. That's when he noticed something interesting about her. One green eye and one blue eye! He knew there were dogs and cats like this. He wondered how she ended up with such a pretty combination.

The boy shook his head again, like a dog. He got up into a crouching position in his chair. Come on Colin lad! Get yerself together! She's lying through her teeth and smiling the whole time! But then Cassie started up. Colin thought of a grand nickname for her: Screechcrow. She would have to start up with the fake tears!

"Oh, come off it!" he managed to get out before she lit into him as well! Of course, she would have to bring up how she made those pins all by herself! And oh woe is me, but Colin comes over and starts badmouthing us Rottenclowns! Colin could only shake his head in dismay and astonishment together!

Colin practically fell out of his chair when Screechcrow started begging Clair to see their side of it and rule against the Slytherin! Deep down, Colin knew that if he really had done something horribly wrong, he'd take his punishment. But this was too much! Way too much!

Colin made retching noises when Yellow Hair started up again. Oh no! Now she started up with her own sob story! How she had made her own badge for the love of her house!? BAAAARF!!!

"Wh---!? Y---!"

Still, she was such a fast talker that Colin couldn't even get a word out! The two of them had just taken the truth and cut it into pieces and rearranged it to fit their own agenda! That's not how it's supposed to work! Even though Colin hadn't laid out every single minor detail, at least he didn't twist anything around to make himself look good in front of Clair or shift all the blame on the girls.

And then Yellow Hair --- Colin needed a better moniker for her. Golden Tongue, maybe, the way she was schmoozing Clair and trying to cover up what she and Screechcrow had actually done! Then she has the nerve to fake comfort her house mate and say: "As long as we speak the truth, victory lies ahead of us!"

Oh this was all too much now! And to finish up, she starts begging Clair to see things their way! She played the Ravenclaw card, trying and get Clair to side with them simply because they're all in the same house!!

"NOOO!" For the first time since he'd come into the library, Colin actually raised his voice! He immediately lowered it --- shouting would only make Screechcrow and Golden Tongue's point for them! "No! That's not what happened --- that's not how it happened, and you know it!"

Colin sighed dramatically, then slouched back down in the chair with his arms crossed. "You two were screeching, not me. I didn't mention it before because I didn't want you to get in trouble." His own version of the story really had left out some key details of the girls' behaviour. It was like what happened in the girls dorm back before Ava attacked Luci. He was just trying to protect them.

"But if you're going to mention the screaming at all, at least tell your Prefect the truth." Colin wasn't about to abuse his relationship with Clair for any benefit, but neither was he going to let these two get away with lying to his girlfriend! "So what if I called yez Ravenclowns?" Colin shurgged. "There's Ravenclowns, Gryffindorks and Puffinstuffs --- and then there's the Noble House of Slytherin! House pride and rivalry. Stands to reason. But ---" Colin sniffed slightly. His heart felt strange and full.

Drat.

He wiped his eye. He didn't want Clair to see the tear. It was bad enough the two crocodiles across from him shedding fake tears! "But don't lie to Clair. I won't have that! You two did all the screeching and hollering." He stared into the eyes of Cassie Jiang. He didn't like her one bit. Especially after what just happened. "You started the yelling, Screechcrow, and then you got Miss Golden Tongue here to follow. And now you turn that around on me?" He narrowed his eyes at Cassie. The other one he could forgive because she came in later and only picked up on Cassie's 'manners'.

Colin wrinkled his nose in disgust. He hated Cassie in that moment. It was all up to Clair now. She was a smart girl, Colin knew that. And, like AngelFyre, she had a solid stock of wisdom. He hoped she'd be able to sift the truth from the false!

I will make the starter of detention in which I explain the context of the detention, the expectations, and the requirements to complete the detention and tag the three of you in it.
