Finished Victory: Hannah Alora J. Graves vs Hannah Blossom Snakes vs. Lions, Who Will Triumph?

A whole month had passed at school, and Alora was venturing out of her comfort zone and into the unknown. She'd gotten a set of gobstones before school, without really knowing what they were. With the promise of potentially spraying an opponent in gunk, and the similarity with the candy gobstones, she hadn't been able to stop herself from splurging on the set with the extra coins her aunt and brother had supplied her with during her first trip to Diagon Alley.

As she familiarized herself with the school, she noted the various clubs, and recognised the name. Curious as to how it was played, she had signed up, and now she stood in the outdoor club area, a change of clothes in her bag, and excitement causing her heart to flutter.

Tristan spoke, and she listened, carefully taking the rules and reading them over again, just in case she'd forgotten anything. She wished she could have talked to Colin before starting, or any of her friends with more knowledge on the matter. Part of her still wasn't sure whether to discuss what she didn't know with others. Most seemed to assume she did and she didn't exactly counter their thoughts.

Smiling at Hannah she offered a curt greeting with a nod of the head. She had to hope she would win, but being fairly good-natured, she said, "good luck." Of course, she hoped lady luck would be on her side, and not her opponent's, but that was the right thing to do wasn't it?

With her first gobstone in hand, she thought over how to throw it. There were only four moves, and yet, it was almost overwhelming. In the end, she opted to go with a classic throw. Nothing could go wrong right ?

Gobstones, gobstones. The name was all over Hannah's head. The girl didn't rember actually playing it, but she knew the rules. Her father once told her that he played the game at Hogwarts, but she did not remember actually playing it. Or how she knew the rules

It had been a month since the start of Hogwarts, and when she was looking at the clubs, she came across this one. In attempts to actually play the game, she joined the club, and here she was, today. The girl found a Gobstones set at home, hidden away in the library

The girl heard Tristan speak, she was not interest at all in what he was saying. All she heard was "Blah, blah, blah.". Hannah thought Get on with this already! Let's just start, ugh. and when he finished, the Slytherin girl, her competitor, Alora said "good luck." but that was it. She gave Hannah a nod. Hannah nodded back, and said "Good luck." and gave her a small grin.

Finally, Alora started the game, then it was Hannah's turn to play. She did a 'classic throw', a simple move, just to start the game and not give in too much of her strategy.

The game was ready to begin, a lion and a snake battling in both wits and strength. As he finished handing out the rules, he could tell Ms. Hannah Blossom, like any other Gryffindor, would have just liked to start without his speal, already gearing up to throw a Gobstone. The two competitors were polite, wishing each other luck, unlike some people who would roast their opponents in a battle of nerves, however each to their own. As each girl picked up their stones, Tristan observed the behavior of both. Alora seemed indecisive, perhaps going through the choices she had for a move, a couple times in her head. Hannah, on the other hand seemed to have chosen the moment she picked up her stone, ready to throw when she could. They threw their stones one after another, each seemingly choosing the same move. The gobstones create a beautiful and perfect arc in the air, with the perfect amount of power. In a surprising result, both girls knock their opponents’ stone out of the ring, each succeeding at their move. Tristan writes down that each now has six gobstones left and concludes the round as finished. As moderator, he then announces, “Congratulations on your successes, you both now have six gobstones left on board, and seven left to throw. As you have both won, pick a number between one and ten so that we can decide who will start first next round. Write your number down on these sheets of paper and hand them back to me folded.” He picks the number ten in his head and when the two return their choices, Alora’s number seven is closer to the number he picked. “The results are in and Alora, you will be first to play this round.”

Alora had been surprised at her success. She celebrated her victory with a smile and a jump in the air. "SCORE!" she said happily, always rather flamboyant in her joy. When she lived something, it was with everything she had.

It didn't last long before she noted that her opponent also had succeeded in her endeavor. They were tied, which wasn't the worst thing, and yet, it made her small victory feel a little less sweet. Now she would have to make a decisive move to potentially overthrow the status quo that stood between them so.

Still, there were seven more gobstones to throw, and she intended to do her best to win this match. When Tristan asked her to pick a number, she jotted one down with her bubbly handwriting and handed it to him. Hearing of her victory in the tie breaking, she felt that excitement again. This was her time to shine; she could feel it. All she had to do was make a move and get lady luck on her side.

Sometimes you had to risk some to win some, and as she considered her next move. Gently, she kissed her ball and braced herself to throw. Choosing to play with everything she got, she threw her next ball using a stronger throw: the one the only, catapult throw.

Action: Catapult Throw.

The game went on, and Hannah successfully took out one of Alora's gobstones. She was happy, but she didn't shout "Score", like she did. It was not worth it, instead she just smiled.

They were tied now. That was not exactly a bad thing, if she could take out one more gobstone, she would be winning.

Then, Tristen asked her to write down a number, she followed his instructions, and quickly jotted down her number, and gave it to him. However Alora picked a number closer to his, so she would be next. This also meant that she won in the tie breaking.

Hannah was a little upset, she frowned for a second, but then nodded. Sh couldn't let her see she was upset, because she wasn't completely upset, this wasn't Scottish Rugby, after all. The girl had learned to play when she entered was very young, and she loved it, she was a natural. Currently, the girl was thinking about joining she Quidditch team. She was surprisingly good at the sport, and ended up really enjoying it.

After Alora threw one of her gobstones, it was Hannah's turn. She thought about the next move she was going to do, while it was Alora's turn. "Always be one step ahead." I guess it's best if I do it. she thought. Then, she threw one of her gobstones, hoping it would eliminate one of Alora's.

Tristan nodded as Alora shouted her enthusiasm for knocking off her opponent’s gobstone. Hannah was far more reserved, giving only a slight smile. Although they were both tied, either had the chance to win at this point. As both picked up a gobstone to throw, Tristan saw the ritual of Alora, who kissed her stone for perhaps luck. Perhaps she was going to attempt a risky throw in order to gain a lead. She lobbed her stone harder than before and her risky move paid off, knocking Hannah’s stone clean off the board. However, as Hannah threw her stone, her careful throw did not succeed, the stone not reaching Alora’s. It lands in the correct place but it does not have the strength to push it off the ring. Tristan writes down this result, as the competition begins to get started. He looks back up and announces, “The second round has finished. There are six more rounds left. As you can see Alora has six stones left on the ring, and Hannah has five. As Alora has won this round, you will go first. Hannah, you still have the opportunity to catch up.”
Tristan then sat back down and allowed the game to continue.

Beaming, Alora gave another happy cry of victory as her catapult made the other ball get shoved clear off the board. This was the most excitement she'd had in weeks! It didn't matter that Tristan was placid or that her opponent was more quiet in celebrating her victories. Considering her most recent loss, she couldn't blame her. At least she wasn't losing face, which could easily be Alora if lady luck stopped being on her side.

Kissing her next Gobstone, she readied herself for her next throw. She wished she could say it would be thought out, that she would carefully craft her motions, but planning and care weren't in her nature. Alora was wild and unbridled. She lived off rushes, and lived for them. This was just another rush to be experienced, and win or lose; she planned to live it to its fullest as she did everything.

Though she hadn't been aware that the ball in her hand would fly out in another catapult move, until it was shooting forward, whether it would hit the mark or not, she had to pray, but either way, Hannah was offering her the game of a lifetime. Beneath her breast, her heart was hammering with anticipation. She didn't realise how much of an O her lips formed as she held her breath through their respective motions.

Next thing she knew, Alora had knocked of one of her own Gobstones. She didn't knock of one hers, though. However she still had a chance of winning.

Hannah observed Alora's movements. The girl had done a Catapult throw, which she had succeeded, she did the same thing. She kissed her gobstone, and threw it. Hannah was thinking what she would do next. She quickly decided to do a Catapult throw. It wasn't because of Alora, she just thought that would be best.

Finally it was her turn, she carefully grabbed one of her Gobstones, to throw. Hannah then looked at it and whispered to it, as if it were a person. "You better not fail me now.", and then she threw it.

Her hopes weren't too high, since, last round she had failed. However, Hannah was almost sure she would knock one of Alora's Gobstones. The girl wouldn't be too sad, though, if she did successfully knock of one the other girl's Gobstones. She would be completly fine. Hannah was not too competitive, well, she was, kind of. When she wanted to be, she would be. The girl was trying to control herself now.

She looked at the Gobstones again. You better not fail me again. she thought.

Tristan was intrigued at the result of this game. It seemed to him that perhaps the Slytherin girl would win, which would please him very much. He could at least definitely see the excitement that filled Alora’s grin. Once again, Alora kissed her gobstone, perhaps it was a ritual of sorts, but it seemed to be working for her. She threw the stone strong and luck worked out for her as the gobstone hit her opponent’s stone and knocked it out of the ring. Tristan pursed his lips and silently wrote down the result as a success. As he turned his head back towards the two opponents, he focused next on Hannah, the lion. Hannah copied her opponent’s ritual perhaps in the hope of it changing the results, kissing her stone before preparing to throw it. She also again threw the stone the same way as Alora. However, the result was the same as before, with the stone making it the distance it should but not accurately hitting her opponent’s stone off the ring. Tristan then wrote down this result without emotion. He then turned his head back and he announced, “As you have witnessed, the results have repeated what had occured in the previous round. Indeed, Alora you have succeeded in knocking out three of your opponent’s stones off the ring. Hannah, you have unfortunately not succeeded in this round, thus you have only knocked out one gobstone. Therefore, Alora will be starting first, next round. You each have five gobstones left. We are almost halfway done with this match!”
