Just a Little Help

Irina left her Transfiguration class with a sigh, hoisting her satchel more securely over her shoulder. The lesson had been pretty good for one of her first Second Year lessons, but she could already tell the workload was gonna be harder than last year. She pulled out her wand and examined it closely as she walked through the corridors filled with chatting students returning to their Common Rooms or going to dinner.
The wand was probably the only reason she wasn't failing Transfiguration - it wasn't her preferred subject so she sometimes slacked off a bit, but due to her close connection with her wand, she was just about passing. She gave a small smile as she gazed fondly at the wand in her hand, glad she had a strong connection with it.
Irina was so preoccupied, she almost walked into one of the stone columns lining the corridor! Hastily shoving her wand back into her satchel, she watched as a group of frightened looking First Years passed her, huddled together and trying to figure out where they were going next. It was funny to think that just a few months ago, she had been a first year! She empathised for them greatly, trying to find there way around a huge school with no idea where they were or what they were doing.
As she was thinking this, she looked up the now emptying corridors and saw a lone figure up ahead. "Hiya," she smiled, waving her hand and hurrying over. "You alright?"

I don't have a train of thought. I have 7 trains on 4 tracks, all narrowly avoiding each other when the paths cross, all the passengers are screaming and there's that annoyingly calm female conductors voice in the background.

Just a Little Help
Interacting: @Irina Shevel | Wearing: uniformSadie wants to search the classroom of the only teacher Live was scared of. She wasn’t next to Sadie and helping her because she wasn’t brave or useful, but Live still hoped Sadie would succeed in finding her acrylic nail.
Live unzipped her bag, shifted the papers around a bit, then zipped it shut. She was at a loss for things to do now that she was alone. She was aware that she’d undergone less than a minute of Sadie’s absence, and also the whole premise of searching for a tiny nail that is probably unusable by now would, since nails are so small, take multiple minutes at least, so Live shouldn’t expect Sadie to be back anytime soon.
Live unzipped her bag again and removed from it The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection. The cover returned her stare. She shifted the book to her left hand and let it drop to her side.
Suddenly, she was surrounded by black cloaks, which billowed as they moved towards and past her. She looked up at the cloaks’ faces and noted with a sickening sense of relief that these people looked just as scared as she felt. The last of the black cloaks were gone as quickly as they appeared, although they probably weren’t moving as fast as she thought. She realized her feet had been moving too, in the direction of Mr. Aarden’s classroom.
An unfamiliar person in the distance waved and walked towards her. The new person’s arrival revived her sympathy for Sadie. If she had waited to say something, so that there was less distance between them when Live noticed her, Live would have ran, so Live was thankful the distance between them gave her time to relax. Although it wouldn't be accurate to say that Live did not feel like being around people at the moment in general, because Live immediately knew she wanted to be around the girl.
Live realized, much too late for the thought to be of any use, that maybe she should have ran away from a stranger who approached her when she was by herself. Then the stranger asked if she was alright, and Live was so, so glad she stayed. She briefly met the girl’s kind gaze. Whatever did she do to deserve this, haha.
“Yeah, thanks.” She was mostly thinking about her gratitude and not the girl’s question. There was really nothing for her to be not fine over. Except Mr. Aarden. She motioned in the direction opposite the direction she had been going, saying, “I’m going that way. Do you want to come with me?” It was a selfish request, but Live kind of hoped that the girl would waste part of her evening so Live would be able to do something.
It was such a silly thing to want. Most people have things to do. “I'm sorry for asking,” Live said, then promptly made the same mistake. “Would it be okay if I came with you?”

As soon as Irina walked up to the girl, she got the sense that the girl was relieved to see her. She smiled as the girl reassured her she was okay and came to stand next to her.
“I'm sorry for asking, would it be okay if I came with you?”
"Yeah, of course! Heading back to the Common Room then?" She started walking towards the Gryffindor Common Room, holding her satchel and trying to observe the girl without staring - hard combo when you're walking. As soon as Irina met anyone new, her first instinct was to get to know them, to understand them and figure out what they were like. Under normal circumstances, she would have started loading the new person with questions and holding nothing back to show them what kind of person she was. But the girl looked a bit confused so she decided to soften her tone and dial down the crazy.
"So, erm . . . what's your name? M'name's Irina, nice to meet you!" The girl looked very sweet with runaway brown hair. It wasn't even half as crazy as Irina's which, now she came to think about it, hadn't been brushed since yesterday . . . and she'd just had herbology. 'So much for first impressions,' she thought, resignedly.
She didn't really know what she should do to help the girl - there had been relief and gratitude at the sight of a friendly face, Irina was sure, but without being able to watch her emotions or see tell-tale signs of feelings, she couldn't really be sure if the girl was lost, scared, alone, overwhelmed . . . or something else!
'I guess there's no harm in asking her directly?'
"Are you okay? I mean, I could be wrong but you looked pretty nervous back there. And then glad to see me?" She laughed lightly, waving a hand through the air. "I could be completely wrong of course. Were you waiting for someone or something?"
'Merlin's Beard Irina! You need to let the poor girl speak!' Sometimes her thoughts were just too fast and her words even faster.
