Days in the Snow
@Damion White | December 3rd
It was snowing. Yes, it really was! After the winds blowing over the grounds got gradually colder with every passing week, it had finally happened, letting a certain Slytherin fourth year squeal with excitement for the first time in weeks when she left the dungeons.
Yes, after everything she had seen, everything she had been through in this year alone, the snow managed to temporarily transform her into an excited child.
After breakfast she grabbed a blanket, a book and a few snacks and headed outside, down to the lake. She didn't feel much like joining those that went to Hogsmeade today, instead she would enjoy some peace and quiet by herself. Well... almost. If the squid decided to make an appearance, Opeila might even be inclined to share her snacks with it. Was it healthy- probably not.
On the way down to the lake she turned her face to the sky, allowing the snowflakes to land and melt on her skin. Soon her cheeks were red from the cold and felt numb. While Opeila certainly enjoyed the summer, nothing managed to make her feel as alive as winter did. The cold air was like a wake up call, clearing her lungs and mind alike, blowing the everyday troubles away into a corner like dust.
Next to her favorite tree she would unfold her blanket and sit, lean back against the trunk. The leaves provided a roof that protected her book from snow as she opened it on the page she had stopped on last night.

Damion was happy that he was paying more attention to the classes that he was taking. His academic average had not improved but he had improved in some subjects and was starting to get Os in it. Such as Herbology. He had hated Herbology at first but now he was doing really well in it. He smiled as he walked to the Great Lakes for a day of adventure. He was hoping to meet someone new. He was very excited to see what the day had in the store for him.
Damion might have skipped breakfast due to the excitement of meeting someone new. He raced to the Great Lake. He was never so excited to meet someone as he was excited right now. Something about meeting new people had him racing through the school halls. He was usually this excited to meet his crush- yes Kim.
Damion walked slowly after existing the castle. He could see that it was snowing and didn’t want to skid and hurt himself in the snow. It would not be nice of him to have hurt himself while going to meet someone new. He was being careful. He walked with steady and slow steps on the snow. He didn’t want to hurt himself at all.
Damion walked to the Great Lake and smiled at the girl there. "Hi." He said softly as he walked to where she was. "I am Damion White." He said moving his hand forward for her to shake. He was hoping that she would like to shake his hand. "Don’t you just love the beautiful weather?" He asked looking at her and then looking at the Lake.
It passed you up and slipped you by. But we're all bound to end up back to where we started

Opeila never quite emerged in the book, she enjoyed the weather too much for it. The young fourth year didn't even manage to read a page before she gave up trying. So she wasn't entirely taken by surprise by the hand that suddenly appeared in front of her and its owner who bore a stunning resemblance to Wyatt Starkey from her house.
The boy introduced himself as Damion, effectively allowing Opeila to refer to him by his name instead of Wyatt-lookalike in her head. "Hi! Right, I think I remember you from class." With a smile she accepted the offered hand and shook it. "I'm Opeila Winters, one of the Slytherin prefects." Closing her book, she would get to her feet to be on one level with him. "Oh, I absolutely adore the weather. Winter just isn't fun without snow, is it?"
It wasn't much yet, only a thin white layer that did not yet cover the grass completely, but Opeila was sure that soon the grounds would be covered under a thick blanket, just in time for Christmas. "Two years ago, when the lake was frozen, someone organized a game of ice hockey. I wonder if that will happen again. I'd probably sign up again, although I'm quite rubbish at skating. I suppose I can guard a goal by sitting in front of it.", she joked.
