Another miss, at such an easy target, too. Donald was annoyed with himself, but partially impressed at the kid for twisting out of the way despite floating. The Hufflepuff boy had kept his opponent in the air, hoping for an easy combo move like in street fighter. Press A plus up arrow to uppercut, then B to kick them away. He'd played a lot of that with his dad as a younger kid. Levitation plus knockback felt like a beautiful one-two-punch to get bonus damage to the foe.
"Oh well..." He caught himself saying out loud as he watched the missed spell fly off into the distance.
His partner was oozing with rage, loudly. Donald was not nearly as invested in any personal grudges, but he was happy for the spirit to do some fun rivalry. There would need to be some chat afterward to make sure no one was offended by Donald working with the angry little guy. Not that he even was upset with Clark, so far. A few choice words hardly could upset him that quickly. Poor kid was caught on fire and was passionate about things. Understandable.
"At least you're not on fire anymore, little guy." he joked with a wink.

"Tch." Raizel clicked her tongue in an annoyed manner. It's such a shame that her spell missed her target this time. "That was unlucky." While Clark's dodging was certainly brilliant, there's just something that's so annoying about him, especially the way that he talks to others. Well, guess he deserved to be set on fire. On the other hand, his partner was well-behaved than him at least and could carry himself professionally.
But the one that's truly astonishing was… how on Earth did Ming dodge an incoming spell while still in the air? It was quite a site and that sure made Raizel smile. "Now that was awesome." She grinned. That's something you don't see everyday. She was just taken aback by how brilliant that was, forgetting why she was annoyed again. Ming did fail his spell but we don't talk about that.
What snapped her back into the game was when a flash of light caught her eyes, coming from Avery's wand and going straight towards her partner, Bea. She was hit, causing Raizel to quickly turn her head towards Bea. "You okay?" She asked her but surely enough, the Ravenclaw duelist could take that attack. Then again, she still worries about her.

┏ ┓----- The dance grew more fragmented, though that was how he preferred it. Tempo was quickening, even if Clark continued to wail and dodge; the strategy was working and both he and Ming caught on to the rhythm and rhyme of their shared prowess. He couldn’t be too sure of the Chinese boy, especially after his first showing that Avery had witnessed, and yet here he had skillfully avoided another baleful flipendo that the ginger had sent his way; floating all the while. Perhaps there was the promise Avery had suspected, how it would develop would surely set the foundations of their continued acquaintanceship.
Beatrice and Raizel had finally awoken from their almost hypnotic focus on the snakes, taking aim at the rather tasty looking weakling across the battleground. Whilst both their attacks missed the pathetic worm that kept wriggling and writhing, Avery would press the advantage. His position had placed him perfectly to observe and evaluate when to pressure openings and create shatter-points. He had faced Beatrice before, and whilst that was a skillful showing, here he would take extra care in ensuring their victory; amidst the chaos he flicked a Knockback Jinx right at her, feigning an attack on Clark and redirecting it beneath his other arm at the last possible moment; striking her squarely.
She would surely turn her ire his way, and he knew she had it in her; so he prepared a smirk at her before he dealt with the others.
“Discordant and unanticipated. - Well, if only you had said that sooner…” Avery said to Fang Hui-Ming, as his smirk widened, knowing full well that the two were striking a melody without need for lyrics; and yet the lyrics themselves served and entirely different purpose, intellectually placing them above their ‘peers’.
“Good enough, my lady?” He said to Dealla giving her a half-bow. Dealla had notably stopped jibing, perhaps they were finally entertaining her, but he couldn’t help himself; he was nothing if not an impression, and if she felt as though she needed to be impressed, he wasn’t one to deny her. Though of course, in his own twisted sense…┗ ┛

She wanted to cry. Legit just sit down on the floor and cry. How could none of her spells land in this duel? Even Clark had dodged her damn spell. At least in her last duels her spells at hit and she'd got to feel worthy of being on the duelling team and her skills. But now, she wanted to snap her stupid wand in half and call it a day. It didn't help that others were able to cast and land their spells. Especially when they were at her.
She felt more than saw the flipendo come at her. She felt it burst across her chest like two stars colliding. The pain was measurable because fortunately for her, Avery didn't have power behind his spells. She'd suffered more in her official duel. Those Gryffs had power! She'd thanked all her lucky stars and kissed her imaginary rabbit's foot at the fact Mings spell fizzled out. Pity it hadn't blown up in his face like some outrageous ticking time bomb. Which was totally implausible and she really didn't want anything too bad to happen to her friend. She remembered the burns she'd inflicted upon Avery back in February. She'd burned him right, good and proper, his jumper looking like meagre scraps thread. She hadn't been focuses on Avery up until now, but as the pain across her chest fizzled out she narrowed her eyes on him. "Looking for a rematch Leveret? It didn't end to well for you last time. Skillful showoffs will get you nowhere in the end."
Regrouping next to Rai, she smiled at the girl, trying to give her some confidence. "Yeah I'm alright. Avery's not the worst I've faced."

Hui-Ming floated helplessly from the unexpected levitation spell sent in his direction from the redhead Hufflepuff. It was not a pleasant sensation, knowing that he would be suspended, helpless, for the inevitable volley of incoming spells.
But the volley never did come. Instead, Hui-Ming felt the force lifting his clothes vanish -- and that could only mean one thing. He would fall, and his captor would be able to cast again.
Driven by boundless determination, the Chinese boy twisted his body out of the way of an incoming spell with dexterity. Now was his chance, if he can only-- "Incendio Du-"
In an unexpected twist, as his body collided with the ground, his ankle landed wrong, absorbing most of the impact. Pain seared through him, a sharp intrusion on his concentration. Spell forgotten, the Slytherin stumbled for a moment, shifting his weight to his other foot. And this was when his partner decided to make their comment.
Hui-Ming's lips curved upwards. This one was dangerous, he would have to keep an eye out for this little snake, lest he get bt when he was not expecting it. But at the very least Leveret was not dull, and could be counted upon to think before leaping into action. He could almost say he was fond of the kid, venom and all.
"I had not realized it needed to be said," was his response to his younger counterpart, equal parts chiding and amused. Perhaps, he could admit to himself, it wasn't the worst thing that this boy had been chosen to be the other male Prefect for Slytherin alongside him.

To no one's surprise, and certainly not Dee's, Clark turned screechy when he was on aflame and additionally got targeted by the eagle and lion alliance; Ming seemed to have lit a fire beneath him. Dee sighed, sticking a finger in her ear to tune out most of the yelling, and hoped someone might tongue tie him. They did not.
Still, things got more interesting, as for the first time since the start of the duel, every single participant was casting. The Hufflepuffs had chosen to zero in on what was perhaps perceived as weakness, they both tried to set Beatrice on fire. Dee's grandprefect, however, seemed to have no intention of getting hit, and evaded both spells with ease.
The Slytherins, on the other hand were splitting their attention: Hui Ming tried to contribute more to the fire quota, and managed a successful cast this time, but Donald just as successfully hopped out of the way in time. Avery meanwhile continued to snipe the Gryffinclaw team, landing a hit on Raizel this time. Dee tapped her fingers on her arm, considering. She knew that the Gryffindor could withstand a few hits, but how many? The Slytherin's question received an amused snort; was that a challenge? "Acceptable," she deemed. "Apparently I don't need to save you, at least."
Beatrice and Raizel, finally, had chosen to create some of the chaos Dee had been anticipating. While Raizel's focus clearly hadn't been on dodging for the moment, one couldn't fault where the attention had gone: Her dancing feet spell cleanly struck Hui Ming, who would feel his legs begin to move involuntarily. His feet shifting outwards, one leg rising with pointed toes... Dee had never been to a ballet before, but she was going to enjoy the show.
Or perhaps she wasn't, as her sight would soon be obscured by the smoke that Bea conjured. It spread over the stage unevenly, creating a haze, and Dee raised her sleeve in front of her mouth, attempting to avoid the urge to cough. The shapes were still recognisable, although some were affected worse then others; Hui Ming, Avery, Clark, and Raizel seemed to have gotten the worst of it.
The corner of Dee's mouth quirked up. Finally, this was what she was here for.
"One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar."

The boy was already frustrated. Why did people feed off of his anger? That was dreadfully annoying, to be honest. But if he had to admit something, he kind of wanted it to keep going, he wanted to see how much anger people had for him, if they had any anger regarding him in the first place.
And he had, and it seems that his partner did too, came up with the idea to use the firemaking spell against the dratted Ravenclaw. Clark wished that she would've found another location to haunt rather than around him, it was her fault for stabbing him in the back during their non-existent alliances.
But while it seemed Bea missed the spells cast against her, it seemed that Clark was noticing the smoky haze going around, and he started coughing. Nothing too big, nothing too small. He couldn't see. As a matter of fact, he was trying to see and recognize his partner, who seemed to have not been next to him at least, according to the smoke summoning spell, Fumos.
He yelled out in the middle of the mix. "AVERY LEVERAT, YOU OWE ME BIG TIME."
Especially when it seemed the only one getting hurt was Clark.

Spells were everywhere this time and two of those came flying straight towards Bea coming from the badgers. Seems like they had decided to change their target from the snakes to them. Raizel was about to shout a warning for her partner but it seems like Bea had noticed the incoming spells for her. Her eyes were on the older Ravenclaw as the spells closed in, the scene almost like in slow motion as she watched her dodge the two jets of flames coming for her with grace.
"That was brilliant!" She can't help but exclaim. One could say that she's easily impressed by anything that she deems amazing but not like she can't help it. She had been watching people dodge every spell thrown at them during this duel and each one of them were awesome. Yes, even the dodge that the screechy half-goblin, Clark Baird did was amazing in the earlier round but of course, she didn't make any comment on that considering his personality.
She can't let herself fall behind now that her partner just did something amazing. Her gaze fell on one of the Slytherin boys once again, one of her original targets. Ming was busy with his own fire making spell, a stronger variation than the two that she had seen that came flying towards Bea. She took advantage of that. While he was distracted possibly from when his spell missed his target, Raizel made a quick gesture with her wand, shooting out a Dancing-feet spell towards him and what do you know? Her spell hit… for the first time in forever.
But it seems like she wasn't the only one who is taking advantage of a similar situation. Her focus was on that spell, on her target and that made her fail to notice the incoming Knockback jinx from Avery. It was too late when she saw the flash of a familiar light from his direction, something that she had seen countless of times by now. The spell made her wince upon its impact, making her stumble but remained on her feet. That hurts… but then again, compared to what she had taken head on from a certain powerful fourth year, it was nothing. The impact from what she had felt during her 'practice' with Dee when she took three Knockback jinx from her was certainly missing in Avery's spell. In a way, she was glad that it was lacking power.
Raizel grinned, bearing the pain as she stood straight once again. "That was a good one." She called out to Avery that time but then turned her head towards Clark who was screaming just as the fumos spell left Bea's wand, obscuring her view. "Oh not this spell…" she uttered in complete annoyance. It was already hard for her to hit anyone with her spell and now a smokescreen is blocking her view. She can't see who else had been affected by this spell but she sure hoped it wasn't just her or Bea. "I'm gonna have a bad time over here Bea." She said to her partner with a nervous grin on her face. Thanks to the smokescreen though, the others won't see that.
Now then, where was she? Right, the duel and also, back to her thoughts with Clark. What's up with him and Avery? The two of them sure have some serious beef going on between them and she is so curious about that. "Looks like you have someone to look out for huh, Avery. He seems obsessed with you." She doesn't know if Avery heard her when she said that but yeah, the badger is just so obsessed with the Slytherin boy.

Twist. Turn. Dodge what she could. She turned her head at her partner as the spells aimed at her went by without a mark on her. Giving a little bow to Rai, adrenaline rushed through her as she replied, "Thank you, thank you! A little dodging practice never hurts!" Turning back to the ofhers on the field, Bea raised her brows at the Hufflepuffs. She smirked as she raised her sent off her own spell a second later. She knew what was coming. If she was successful. Which she was.
Let the chaos reign! Bea smiled victoriously as billious smoke erupted from her wand, covering 2 thirds of the field with a thick dense fog. She was still able to spot one lone Hufflepuff amongst the crowd but that was it. It seemed to have been spared the injustice, or justice depending on how you looked at it, of her fog. Even poor Raizel was covered. She grimaced at the fact. The smokescreen spell was a good defensive but less so for her own team. In a way, Bea was grateful she hadn't been caught up in it all.
Too focused on casting her own spell, she hadn't seen Rai's cast. But now that her own had gone so well, she could hear the tapping off on certain Slytherin's feet. She laughed, giddy with how well it had gone this round. "Nice one Rai! Sorry about the fog! I was aiming for all the others!"

A second cast, and a second miss. Things were really not looking ideal for Hui-Ming, as his typical incompetence in duelling was setting in. Amidst the spells and words flying about, he'd also managed to get himself Tarantallegra'd, which of course did wonders for his chances in this duel.
Leveret, at least, seems to be able to take the chances that HE saw. And then Miss Langsreth saw fit to unleash a smokescreen to add just another layer of confusion and strategy to this whole thing. And wasn't that just a novel idea.
"Good cast, Miss Langsreth," he called out to the Ravenclaw duellist, directly addressing someone other than his partner for perhaps the first time in this duel. "You read the flow of the duel rather well. I commend you"
An incline of his head, even though the bespectacled Slytherin was quite certain that she would not be able to see through the conjured smoke. It made no matter, for she had managed to single-handedly alter the flow of the duel with a single cast.
"You doing alright, Mr. Leveret?" he asked his partner, much more quietly. It was obviously not a question about his well-being, seeing as Avery had yet to be clipped by a single spell so far in this duel.
