Braeden took a deep breath as he slowly headed towards the Hufflepuff table, and it was with a nervous smile that he finally sat down. Usually, he had no problem with any manner of immediate socializing, but the shellshock of even being in a place like this was still present. The boy had been generously briefed on the Hogwarts Express by an older student, and from what he had gathered during the conversation, there was a lot to look forward to as a first year. The members of his House all seemed quite pleasant and welcoming, and there seemed to be a good amount of diversity when it came to the cultural origins and backgrounds of everyone. Truthfully, there were so many things to be excited about, that the first year didn’t know what to focus on.

A lot of the other students in his year had one or two subjects that they were excited to follow, and planned on excelling in. However, Braeden hadn’t known that much before coming, as he was Muggle-born. So, with that being a factor, he wanted to become the best wizard that he was capable of becoming, by studying hard, participating often, and letting the system of education work.

Asha had been sitting at the Hufflepuff table by herself for a while now. She was alone as even though other kids sat around her she wasn't talking to anyone, nor was anyone talking to her, and she was staring at her food bored. She shouldn't have sat with the older kids first, having nothing to talk to them about. Even though she did try to join conversations by laughing and putting in her opinions, she couldn't relate that much and grew bored. Sometimes during the conversations Asha heard the phrase "muggle-born". Her grandfather told her about that, something about how sometimes non-magic people, called muggles, could have magic babies if they had a wizard family member along the lines, but nobody was really sure.

Although her parents were muggles, Asha was adopted and she figured that she had wizard parents, although she didn't know why they didn't want her. She didn't think about that often because she didn't like the feeling of not being wanted, so she looked around the table for somewhere else to sit. That's when she saw a boy from Hufflepuff like her sit down nearby and she went over to go join him, since he looked her age. She sat down next to him and waved. "Hi, my name is Asha, I'm a first year. What do you think of the school so far?"

It was as he was taking a bite out of a very exquisite pastry that the girl approached him, and Braeden flushed a deep red, what with drool embarrassingly flowing down his chin. She had long, dark hair that seemingly flowed past her shoulders, as well as unique amber eyes that he had never seen before on anyone.
After sitting up and taking a massive gulp of pumpkin juice, the boy shot her a friendly smile as she sat down close to him and waved.

“Er, hello there, Asha, it’s a pleasure to meet you. So your a first year too, eh? I reckon we’d might as well get plenty and acquainted with each other, then.”

The ginger reached up and scratched his head nervously, before looking around the Great Hall, thinking about Asha’s question from an assessing point of view.

“What do I think of this school? Well, I suppose it’s all so much to think about. There’s a lot to look forward to, you know. I want to learn everything, see it all, and do as much as possible. Of course, my curiosity may get the better of me at times, but what’s the fun in life without taking risks, you know?”

The boy shrugged before glancing at the girl. It was relieving to interact with another first year, and perhaps Asha would become a close friend in this long adventure that was to await him in the next seven years.

Asha pretended not to notice the ginger turn deep red and take an audible gulp of pumpkin juice, probably because of the small amount of drool that came from his lips as he ate some of the tastey-looking food. She herself only had sort of played with her food, but now she was very hungry all of a sudden as she gazed at all of the delicious-smelling food around her. Asha laddled some tomato soup into a bowl, got some fresh broccoli, grabbed some croissants, took a decent-sized turkey leg, and grabbed a goblet full of pumpkin juice. She made sure to say her grace beforehand, out of habit.

As she listened to him, Asha couldn't help but keep glancing at his noticably red hair. There weren't that many gingers where she came from and she found red hair really nice, like a sea of fire. She wondered if gingers had some sort of extra power no one else knew about.

Asha grinned, finding herself agreeing a lot with what he had to say. "That's just so...brilliant!" Her voice was high-pitched, but that was her normal tone. It raised her spirits knowing that someone shared the same goals as her. "That's just like me, I mean─I want to do so many things and...take risks, but I kind of already did that back in England, which is probably why I got into so much trouble..." She bit in a turkey leg, which tasted pretty good, even though she usually didn't like bird meat. "So what are your favorite classes so far? I know the first few months are usually really overwhelming, or that's what I've heard. But I think that if I just focus enough I can handle things."
