-----Phantom wondered about the courtyard before making her way down to the grounds. She skipped down the hill until she came to a full stop in front of a tree. "This seems like a good tree for climbing" she thought adjusting the bag on her shoulder. She wasn't really in the best climbing clothes but they would have to do. She put one of her feet on a notch in the tree and hoisted herself up.

When she reached a good height, she felt around for a branch that was able to hold her weight. She crawled out onto it and flopped onto her back, her legs draped over the side of the branch, careful not to show anything. She rummaged around in her bag and pulled out a book called the wind in the willows and an apple she saved from breakfast. She took a bite out of the apple before opening the book. The book was rather worn and tattered since it had gone through her mother and then her older siblings before it had reached her. She was barely a chapter into the book before she was so rudely interrupted by a voice calling up from below.

Wearing his usual Slytherin school uniform attire, Jack walked around the grounds with his bag looking for a good place to sit and read a book when he saw something strange. A girl wearing a black, layered dress and thick, platform high-heeled shoes was attempting to climb a tree. He watched her for a minute, curious as to how far she would be able to get in the outfit she wore and was surprised at the height she ended up managing to achieve.

Still, that couldn't have been safe, especially when he saw her flop onto one of the branches and lie there as if it were her bed. What if she fell off? She didn't even have a rope to tie herself on like Hanako did. Granted, she didn't look like she planned to take a nap like Hanako had when Jack had first seen him like that, but still. That had to have been dangerous.

"Hey!" the redhead called as he walked to the base of the tree, a little worried at first that he might be able to see up the girl's skirt but finding she had sat in a way that didn't allow her undergarments to show. "Should you be climbing trees wearing clothes like that? What if you fall and get hurt?"

Could she even get down with shoes like those? What if her dress snagged on something and caused her to lose her balance? There were so many things that could go wrong with those clothes. Was he going to have to go get his broom and fly her down?

-----Phantom briefly looked up from her book and glanced down at the boy hoping he would just go away if she just ignored him, he would go away. He indeed did not go away but continued talking to her "Should you be climbing trees wearing clothes like that? What if you fall and get hurt?" He yelled up at her. She sighed putting her book and the half eaten apple back in the bag. "I guess i'm not gonna be able to finish my apple." she thought. Phantom knew it was gonna be all brown and mushy by the time she was done talking with this boy. She flopped onto her stomach so she was looking down at him.

She narrowed her eyes at him before speaking up "Who are you to tell me, what to do" she hissed. "I got up here just fine, I think i'll be okay getting down." she retaliated. "I have been climbing trees for years, what is a snake such as yourself worrying about a Gryffindor for?" she said sitting up. She plucked a pine cone from a near by tree, tossing it and then catching it a few times. She waited for his response, she hoped it was a good one for his sake. Based on his response she was going to decide whether to throw the pine cone at him or not.

Jack winced briefly when the girl flopped onto her stomach, again worried she was going to lose her balance while doing so and fall. Fortunately, though, she didn't and instead responded to him with narrowed eyes.

"Who am I? I'm Jack Burnett, a student at this school who's probably older than you and asking out of concern for your well-being. Besides, I didn't tell you what to do," he pointed out. When she told him she'd been climbing trees for years and asked why a snake such as himself was worrying about a Gryffindor for, he smirked and adjusted his bag strap on his shoulder, folding his arms over his chest.

"First of all," he began, "just because you've been climbing trees for years doesn't mean you can't still fall. Secondly, I don't think houses should matter when it comes to worrying about someone else's safety." He sighed, extending his hands on either side as he continued. "Anyway, my older brother was a Gryffindor. In my opinion, there's more reason to worry about Gryffindors than most other houses because you lions tend to be the most reckless of us all!" A few names came to mind. Other than Ruka, there was Rafael D'Spacito. Jo Morgan. Kyle DeRook. Elsian...whatever his last name was, since Elsian had never mentioned it.

Thoughts drifting toward the people attached to those names, he hardly registered when the girl plucked a pinecone from nearby and tossed it up in the air before catching it a few times. It didn't occur to him she might have been planning to throw it.

-----"Jack Burnett?" she said drawing it out. "Hmmmm" she hummed. The boy continued his speech which Phantom wasn't particularly interested in "First of all," he began, "just because you've been climbing trees for years doesn't mean you can't still fall. Secondly, I don't think houses should matter when it comes to worrying about someone else's safety." He sighed, extending his hands on either side as he continued. "Anyway, my older brother was a Gryffindor. In my opinion, there's more reason to worry about Gryffindors than most other houses because you lions tend to be the most reckless of us all!" the boy finally finished.

"Well Jack I don't like your attitude" she said throwing the pine cone she had in her hand down. "Also how dare you assume that I am like the rest of the Gryffindorks" she shouted plucking anothe pine cone from the tree and chucking it down at him. She couldn't help but laugh when the pine cones hit him. She laughed so hard she lost her balance and fell backward. She barely had time to catch herself with one hand. Phantom desperately tried to get her other hand on the branch but her clothes and boots were weighing her down. "Was the boy right? Was she being too reckless? Was she just like the rest of the Gryffindors" she thought still struggling. She could feel her hands slipping and she cried out "DON'T JUST STAND THERE. HELP ME YOU SLIMY SNAKE" she screamed at the boy. She thrashed violently for a couple seconds to regain her grip before her fingers slowly slipped some more before totally giving way and then she fell.

Sensing something flying his way, Jack instinctively put his arms up over his head when the girl threw the pinecone. He wasn't sure if she had been aiming for him or not, but he made a mental note to be more alert for falling projectiles. "What attitude? Being worried about you?" Jack asked. "Well, then, excuse me for being worried! Most people would be grateful, you know? And I didn't assume; I deduced that you were like other Gryffindors because you're behaving as recklessly as the other more reckless ones I've seen and known! Hey, watch it!"

He tried to dodge as she threw another pinecone, wondering what on earth he had done to earn such animosity from the girl. Maybe she just liked being mean and throwing things at people. To each their own, he supposed, but he certainly didn't think he deserved this. He was about to turn around and leave when the girl's laughter immediately ceased and Jack realized something was wrong.

Watching her catch herself after falling backward, he tried to think. How could he save her? He could summon his broom to get her, but who knew how long it would take for his broom to get there? He could have tried to catch her himself, but he wasn't very big or strong and he could have ended up getting them both needlessly hurt. Taking out his wand, he finally thought up a solution while the girl thrashed and screamed at him to help her.

"Arresto Momentum," he incanted, drawing a capital 'M' in the air with the tip of his wand. The Slowing Charm was an old one but a good one and Jack hoped it would greatly slow the younger student's descent from the tree branch. Just in case it didn't, though, he ran as he cast the spell, hoping to get under her to at least somewhat break her fall.
