After the previous day's exploits, Mateo had easily been able to come up with a detention idea for the three boys who had decided that day would be the day to cause trouble in the Library. For people who seemed so concerned with seeking out action and adventure, it seemed fitting to have them calm down a little.

Once the three had arrived, he would greet them with a smile. "I'm glad you didn't decide to try and avoid serving your detentions. It'd have made my life so much more difficult."

He led them to a set of three desks which he had placed in eyeline of his own Librarian's Desk, knowing that the three would be likely wanting to cause more trouble if he didn't keep a close watch over them. Letting them choose which desk to take, he would then place a large book in front of each of them. Well, it wasn't so large, in his opinion, but it might be for those who didn't love books as much as himself.

"You've got an easy job for today guys. Since the fires you started caused the destruction of several of my books, I figured it better that we have several copies on standby. So, all you have to do is copy down these books, ideally word for word. Maybe you'll even learn a thing or two from them. You," he pointed at the Hufflepuff who had started all this, who he'd learnt was named Clark, "You'll start with the first three chapters. Then you," he pointed at Clark's accomplice, Gabriel, "You'll do the next three. And finally," he looked at the other Gryffindor, Finnegan, "You'll finish the last three chapters."

He placed on each desk what they'd need, several sheets of parchment, a quill and a bottle of ink each. "I don't think I need to say this, but keep the noise to a minimum. And no magic of any kinds, no funny business. I'll be at my desk over there, and I will see if you get up to anything. Now, I'd get started if I were you."

Simply just because he was busted. He was fucking busted. Busted in the library. Wasn’t that supposed to be a safe haven for someone? He had to seriously doubt the quality of the title safe haven.

But, there was no need for him to actually question that. After all, he was at fault. For just about everything that had got him busted. It was like when Phineas and Ferb, and finally, for real, got caught. The fact that they had to go through manual, labor, and suffering – just because of their older sister, who really wanted to bust them. That was how he felt right now.

It might’ve been a bit traumatizing, but then again, why is it not.

“Oh? You really think I didn’t want to skip the detention? What the hell kind of benefit would that give me? It seems like I’ll be stuck in an eternity of suffering. And that would be your fault. Never mind the fact that I tried to burn down the entire library, but let’s pay attention to the fact that YOU are the reason why I am suffering. It is your fault.” He was trying to place the blame on someone else. He did not like to accept that he was wrong. But he also did not want himself to look like a complete, fucking, fool in front of his crush. His boyfriend. His knight in shining armor.

But if Clark actually paid attention to whatever the hell he was doing, even know that everything he had done would’ve made a complete mockery out of himself. He was an idiot through and through.

But he wasn’t here just to whine. He was here to put himself through the grueling effort of trying to write three ugly ass chapters. Who the fuck hated him that much?

Apparently, the librarian.

He sat down at the desk, and crumbled under his breath. After spending minutes after minutes, he finally finished the first chapter.

More minutes have passed, and he had finished the second chapter.

And now, the third one. “Psst, hey Finny, hey hey hello.“ Clark was very impatient. He wouldn’t be waiting, just to deal with Finnegan. He needed to finish the book, well, at least just the three chapters he was assigned.

He put a little more effort into the third chapter, after several cuss words that should be unnamed. And it last, it was finished. He looked back at the library in, and muttered under his breath. “Why the hell, did you not tell me, that you spoke gobbledygook? You are just a bully. You are manipulative and cruel. You will never ever see me step foot in this library ever again.“

It had never been his intention to burn any books. He'd tried to convince the librarian of that, but his argument had fallen on deaf ears. He'd spent the rest of the day grumbling about the great injustice being done to him, but a good night's sleep had worked wonders on his glum mood.

By the time he'd had breakfast he'd concluced that Sáez wasn't entirely unreasonable. He should not have been playing with fire in the middle of the library, surrounded by flammable books and shelves alike, regardless of his intentions. On the other hand, he figured that any damage he might be causing could just as easily be reverted with a charm so simple that even he had managed to cast it. Nevertheless, he'd been given detention and he was determined to make the best of it.

A fourth year Gryffindor had tried to convince him he was going to have to fight five foot tall spiders, but his time spent at Hogwarts so far had wisened him up enough not to fall for it. After he had taken a seat - he'd made sure to arrive on time - Mateo Sáez explained their punishment. It sounded like long, dull work, and he was beginning to wonder if he might not have preferred the spiders to spending endless hours painstakingly copying some book. On the upside, it seemed a lot less dangerous.

What he had not expected was that one of the boys he was serving detention with had a superb talent for making every minute of it absolutely aggravating. The boy had a mouth on him that ran way ahead of his brain, but most surprisingly of all was the color of his uniform. Finnegan had never met a Hufflepuff, let alone a first year Hufflepuff with such a bad attitude. Halfway through the boy's angry rant, Finnegan had determined with great certainty that Clark was either dim-witted or stupendously arrogant.

He had to bite down real hard on his lip not to say anything, but just minutes later the boy made a move that made it impossible to ignore him. "What?" he hissed back, trying to keep his voice low. From the corner of his eye he could see that Clark had started on his third chapter already. He had to have cheated somehow. Finnegan had barely managed the first paragraph of his first chapter in that same time. Then again, he was actually putting some effort into his work. "What do you want?"

The annoyance in his voice was plain, but he didn't hate the boy, he was just irritating, like a mosquito that just wouldn't stop flitting around.

And then Clark was back to berating Mr. Sáez again, and this time Finnegan could no longer stomach the stupidity being uttered by the young Hufflepuff. He turned briskly in his seat and pinned Clark down with a harsh stare. "Will you shut up already? I'm sure Mr. Saez is mortified that you won't be going to the library again. Imagine reading a book, the horror." The eyeroll that followed was anything but subtle. "Mr Saez weren't running around tearin' up the library, now was he? What came over you?" He turned pointedly toward Clark and tapped his forehead with his index finger, "you're not all there!"

At that, he looked to Mr. Saez and @Gabriel Palmer for support. Surely he wasn't the only one in the room that was fed up with Clark's big mouth. Surely his fellow Gryffindor would come to his aid? He hardly knew Gabriel, but from what little he did know, the boy seemed a great deal calmer than Clark, though that was frankly rather easy to achieve.

Although he was sure all the others were feeling the same, the situation was simply unfair. The librarian had no idea if Gabriel would actually set the library on fire.. it was only the plan. He argued this multiple times with no luck of getting out of punishment. Mr. Saez was starting to become one of his least favorite teachers for this false justice.

Going to detention had to be one of the worst things to do, knowing you will spend the hours in complete boredom next to someone he'd much rather be talking to instead of doing whatever they were assigned.

He walked in and found himself already upset with the librarian. Skip detention for what? For him to give us double for something we shouldn't even be punished for? He held his words back as he sat down, trying to override the words he very much wanted to spit at Mr Saez. As the punishment was explained, Gabirel knew how right he was in the boringness of the task. Writing out long paragraphs of a book, karma for the destruction of many others.

He figured if he focused his mind of something else while writing, it would go fast, unlike Clark's method of complaining.

Ignoring everything around him, he spent a while writing the first paragraph he had to write. By the second, his hand had already started to cramp up. Why did this book have to be so long?

Finally, he reached the third paragraph only to snap out of his trance by a sound next to him. Of course, it was his impatient boyfriend, Clark. He shot a glare at him, indicating that he should shut up and get his work over with instead of bothering the other boy Finnegan.

He scribbled down the last few sentences of his paragraph after a while, seeing that Finnegan was still working, and Clark had seemingly not been finished ranting to the librarian. He was about to get up until the other boy seemed to snap. Gabriel turned his head sharply to see Finnegan chew out Clark for his arrogance.

Despite the harsh words, if Clark was anybody else, Gabriel would be saying the same things or at least thinking them. Nonetheless, the day was almost over and the two would never have to see each other again. "Finnegan. Leave it, he's done, I'm done and you two can quit bickering and go your separate ways. Arguing more will do no good."

He stood up and walked to the librarian's desk. "I do hope I'm allowed to leave now. I'd tell Clark to curse at you in whatever the language he speaks is, but you somehow know it." He rolled his eyes, clearly not over their plan being foiled. How the f*** did he happen to know the specific language they were communicating in?
