Closed Paper Cuts PV

The young girl felt like the news of her stepping down as prefect had spread over the school like wildfire and everyone knew about it. Of course, she wasn't really that important, but she liked to think she was. The reason why she had stepped down was only known by a select few. Not wanting to make a big deal about it, Samantha had only shared how much stress it had given her with those who needed to know and her closest friends. The power the position had given the young girl had made her more than happy, but it just took too much time and energy from her. At first, it had been easy for her to handle as there wasn't much going on around it. But soon her responsibilities grew and with the drama going on at home, it had been too much and she had to step down.

Now, she had way too much time on her hands. A lot of it was spent on studying more to get better grades again, the A on the bottom of her assignment was still haunting her memory. The other part of the free time she had gained was spent with friends, her boyfriend, or in the dueling club. Still, there was time left, time in which she would just stroll through the castle. And this afternoon, as she had completed all her homework, was filled with another walk.

However, stepping down as prefect did not equal not sticking her nose in places they did not belong, such as other people's business. Giving unwanted advice or helping random people also hadn't disappeared from her daily to-do list, so when she noticed another student struggling, she quickly came to their rescue. A little giggle left her lips as she heard the girl talk about the announcement only being for upper years. It took Samantha a few seconds to realize what the student was looking at, during which she failed to hear the comment about needing glasses.

"Maybe only tall people are allowed to read it?" she said suddenly as she approached the random student. Her blue eyes narrowed as she glared at the announcement. Not being the tallest herself, Samantha had an extremely hard time reading it as well and understood the struggle of the other girl. As all her focus was on the piece of paper, which she had now declared to be her number one enemy, she hadn't noticed that the other girl had gotten her wand out of her pocket. "It is terribly rude, don't you think?" she asked, still staring at the announcement.

While her wand was still out, Lea's thoughts had moved to whether she could just simply grab the paper and tear it down. A few paces separated her and the announcement wall and thus paces would stay as the Hufflepuff was not interested in immediate action. No, she would take her time solving this puzzle, tilting her head as she calculated the height of her and an outstretched arm in comparison with the parchment. Surely it was possible if she stayed on her tippy toes or hopped a bit?

The giggle startled her, the girl swiveling around and preparing some sarcastic or annoyed comment for whomever had decided that her troubles were amusing. "I- oh." Brown eyes blinked, not expecting to see a similarly sized student before her. There was a level of distrust, Lea was not fond of being laughed at, but perhaps it had just been a giggle about their shared struggles or how strangely the paper was placed. "Hello...?" The other seemed familiar, certain that they had shared classes and had heard of this girl before, but no name immediately came to mind. Instead, Lea continued her frozen posture until the other spoke up again.

"Well that's just silly," she huffed. "They already have their height, they don't need to have a special announcement too." She glared at the down, scuffing her shoe against the stone floor. A hint of a smile appeared when she whispered, "...holding it over our heads," but the Hufflepuff quickly returned to the task of staring down their common enemy. "It is terribly rude, I agree." There was a bit of surprise that the other had only just now figured that out, but Lea appreciated having a buddy to fix this dilemma. "Surely everyone should be informed on school news, right?" Brown eyes glanced over in search of some agreement before she continued on, "They wouldn't mind if we brought it down just a little, would they?" 'They' being the unknown people who put it up or Hogwarts staff or any random student- Lea hadn't entirely decided who to blame, but hopefully the point still stood: if they wanted to read this paper, the only next step was to bring the paper down some way or another.
