Reducio history. Briny waves battered the treacherous rocks around the Isle of Skye that night Archer was born. It was a bitterly cold January night, snow falling atop the Duncan House on the 17th. There had been an alarming moment of silence as Archer exited the darkness of his mother’s womb. Yet mere seconds later, the both waved a great breath, tears streaming out of his brown hazel eyes, crying at the top of his little lungs. After two miscarriages, Aurelia (neé Fawning) and Charles Duncan treasured their only child, who had almost passed away himself. But Archer Theodore Duncan was born with the blood and spirit of an adventurer and a researcher- he could survive anything, including the cold Scottish winter. Aurelia Duncan graduated as a Gryffindor from Hogwarts and set out into the Scottish Highlands as an explorer, where she befriended Charles. Five years her elder, Charles, a Ravenclaw graduate, had never spoken with Aurelia. Yet their friendship soon turned into love, followed two years later to marriage. Archer grew up in the Isle of Skye, with a half-a-taste of adventure, yet half-a-taste of knowledge. While the boy’s father ensured Archer an excellent homeschooled education, his mother yearned to show him more of nature, instead of having his nose stuck in yet another book. With his father, Archer studied a range of magical subjects to prepare him for Hogwarts, namely theoretical charms, potions, Defense Against the Dark arts and, transfigurations, and History of Magic. While he excelled in his studies, Archer much prefers reading and researching on his own compared to being taught. On the contrary, Aurelia exposed Archer to the area around their home, including forests, beaches, and mountains. Despite seeming comparatively pale and slim, he was physically adept due to the ‘adventures’ he went in with his mother. Other than the usual song and dance of minor family drama and petty arguments, Archer’s childhood was a blissful one, devoid of sudden deaths or major disagreements. On his sixth birthday though, the boy received the best present he could ever wish for. Scott was a gorgeous beagle dog, bestowed upon Archer by his maternal grandmother. Despite their lack of interaction, the elder lady showed clear affection to Archer. However, his sixth birthday also marked something more important: his first instance of magic. Scott and Archer’s friendship did not start off on a positive note. Archer was attacked by Scott, who scratched his arm. It would have left a mark, yet the scratch healed mere seconds after it opened, leaving no scar. That day had not only signified Archer’s manifestation of magic, but it was also the start of a new friendship. As Scott and Archer spent more time with each other, they soon became better acquainted. Despite Archer’s first instance securing him a place at Hogwarts, the day he received the letter was a celebratory one nonetheless. After the original excitement, anxiety filled more of Archer’s mind, having not have been exposed to many peers. Nevertheless, it is apparent that this was Archer Theodore Duncan’s best adventure yet. - Reducio appearance. Born with features more feminine than they were masculine, Archer Theodore Duncan was a boy that could not be only considered handsome, but also beautiful. With parted dark brown hair, close to black, framing his pale, smooth skin, one may wonder why his days outdoors did not tan him. Brown eyes lay carved under angled eyebrows, above permanently rosy cheeks. Being a simple boy, he had never cared much for fashion and would always prefer casual-formal attire, compared to anything else. - Reducio personality. Archer was one to be regarded as a child of two worlds: one part of him was a brilliant and clever researcher, yet the other part was a plucky and adventurous explorer. He was an introverted boy, socially awkward, having grown up around nature, books, his parents, and a lovable dog, but not around his peers. It wouldn’t be surprising to find Archer in the library, huddled in a corner with a blanket, fighting the Scottish winds, and a book, perhaps about a tropical beach, where it was considerably warmer than the Isle of Skye. Every day spent with a good book was a day spent devouring it. Every night stayed up late was a night gobbling down new information. However, Archer never read without a purpose. What he pursued was not true intelligence but rather answers to all his burning questions. He was a fabulous researcher, but not necessarily a superb reader. His courage had never failed Archer, whether it be leading his parents into a haunted house or being the first to answer the call for adventure. His mother had taken him on adventures, from the mountains and the cliffs to the seas and the lakes of the Isle of Skye, Archer and Aurelia Duncan had seen it all. Adventuring, exploring- it was not just an avocation for Archer, it was a skill, like researching, that was meant to be used. Putting aside his pure bravery, Archer was never afraid to go on quests to obtain his needs and wants, whether it be significant or naïve. Yet there were days where his intrepidness will turn to recklessness. Those were his most dangerous days. But if one looks past his two preeminent traits: his wisdom and bravery, one would see a genuine pursuer of the good, just, and fair. Archer Duncan had a true heart of gold. Having not been exposed to the frightful world of treachery, his heart still pure, clean, and innocent, he often cannot see any other options than the honourable choice. His naïvety often showed when he started to be too trusting. Archer could not fathom a world where people would choose to make the despicable decision. His heart brimming with kindness and friendliness, he will always carry that little tinge of rose-colour. Yet another trait often missed by passers-by and even those close to him was ambition, the fact that he would do anything and everything to achieve what he believed was virtuous. The ends would always justify the means, even if Archer had to put himself in danger. His ambition was something he rarely shown, simple because he did not know how to show it. He did not show it because he could not. It was a still a mere seed, growing inside his heart- perhaps infecting Archer’s heart- by the day, yet still not tenured nor properly evolved.
